F.Y.I. Cobra is the same age as Natsu, Gajeel, Sting, Rogue, etc. Ultear is at the age she was after tenrou, so is Meredy.
Hey! Here we go again! So, apologize to Kuro101 for using your ship name. I had nothing better and it sounded really good so I hope that you won't mind! So...new chapter please enjoy!
Sofie sighed as she stared up at the stars, the hug had been awkward, but worth it, she'd snapped Rogue out of his ludicrous ideas to leave the guild.
Rogue was still shivering, he was still wet from his plunge into the pond, after all.
"C'mon, we should had back to the inn, everyones worried sick about you. Sting's practically strapped to his bed, he wanted to run after you but the Master forced him to go back to the inn and rest."
Rogue sighed guiltily. "I didn't mean to scare everyone so much, I shouldn't have..."
"You stop talking about should'a would'a could'a, alright? It happened, you freaked out, now your under control again, right?" Sofie asked curtly.
Rogue was surprised at how straightforward she was being.
"Right." Rogue replied simply, not wishing to say any more on the subject.
They stood and made there way into the forest.
"Do you remember the way out?" Sofie asked.
Rogue shrugged, "I wasn't really paying much attention."
Sofie sighed, "This is gonna be a loooong night."
Several irritating and twisted paths through a moonlit forest later
Sofie stepped from the trees and inhaled deeply.
"Ahhh, never thought I'd miss the taste of city air so much!" She exclaimed.
Rogue smiled softly in the half light of the moon.
"We really should be getting back to the inn, everyone will be freaking out."
He added.
Sofie turned on him, "Right!" She said, happy to have the Rogue she knew and loved back. They turned and headed into the maze of streets of the glow of the street lamps.
After a few minutes of awkward silence Sofie decided to finally ask.
"Rogue, what exactly made you go so, well, crazy?" She asked, bouncing her hands off of her back as she held them there.
Rogue frowned, crossing his arms beneath the cloak Sofie had kindly brought for him.
"I...I have this thing inside me. I call it a dark side. It, whispers into my mind everything I fear, it urges me to do the things I secretly wish I could do. When I was about to kill Rufus on the field..."
"KILL!?" Sofie asked, appalled.
Rogue bent his head, almost in shame.
"You have no idea, the, the thing kept telling me, giving me these feelings, that I wanted to kill Rufus, because, a long time ago, before I came to Draconem Heart, I almost did."
Sofie looked up at Rogue in disbelief.
Rogue, a killer? Never, I'd never believe it.
Sofie thought.
Rogue sighed, "I wasn't in my right mind, you saw it, I know you did."
"True, I knew you weren't yourself, but I thought you were nearing overload like Natsu, I never dreamed you were thinking of killing a guy that used to be one of your best friends." Sofie wasn't even thinking about what she was saying, she was just trying to piece the situation together in her head.
"Sometimes my shadow will take form, it'll have a face, and one eye, and it'll be laughing at me, taunting me. It happens more often when I go into Shadow drive and some of the time after that." Rogue continued.
"But you go into Shadow Force all the time with Sting! How can you not get this 'dark side' thing then?"
Rogue seemed miffed, he didn't quite like getting into a conversation about the evil piece of his soul.
"Sting, as you know, is the White Dragonslayer, when I'm with him, and he's in drive, our two powers will balance out. Sting can go into drive with or without me, but I'm not comfortable with going in so deep without him there."
For Sofie, this only made things more confusing.
"But Sting was there! He was in drive right alongside you! Why did it happen then, Rogue? When the white dragonslayer was right there?"
Rogue shook his head, "It was the way things turned out, I knew I shouldn't have, but I attacked Rufus instead of Orga, when he was down, conscious and yet unable to do a thing, it was to much like..."
Rogue trailed off, his eyes going into a troubled state.
"Sof, can we please not speak of this anymore?" Rogue asked quietly.
Sofie stared at him for a moment, then said.
"Of course Rogue, but..."
She reached out and took his hand, griping it tightly for a moment in hers.
Rogue looked down at her with puzzled eyes.
"If you ever do need someone to talk to, I'm here."
Rogue nodded slowly as Sofie released his head and they kept walking towards the inn.
"Thanks, Sofie, thank you for bringing me back." He said as they approached the building, Rogue could hear the ruckus coming from inside and winced in advance.
Sofie smiled at him.
"Anytime." She replied.
Then they opened the door to the inn and all hell broke loose.
"SOFIE!" Everyone in the room screamed, Rogue took one very large step back and was considering running back to the moon pond again when Sofie seized his wrist and dragged him through the door.
"Don't have a fit, guys, I got him." She said nonchalantly as she shut the door behind them before letting Rogue go.
"Dude!" Sting came crashing down the stairs and seized Rogue by the shoulders in an instant.
"You scared the living crap out of all of us what was that you idiot!?"
He rattled this all off in one sentence.
"Please stop shaking me!" Rogue cried out, for Sting had been shaking him madly back and forth since he had grabbed him.
"Oh, ok." Sting stopped.
Rogue sighed, "I just had some stuff to go over in my head..."
He glanced over his shoulder at Sofie, who had her arms tucked behind her head and was half listening to Zahn and Rina's chatter.
"I feel better, now, though." Rogue said, unconsciously smiling a little.
Before he could react Ultear was right on top of him.
"Soo...what did you two do? Hmmm?" She asked.
Rogue turned stark white in an instant.
Sofie had been cornered by Meredy.
"So where were you?" She asked.
"A pond in the forest, Rogue fell into it after he rolled down a hill." Sofie deadpanned.
Rogue was slowly backing away from Ultear, who's crystal ball was bobbing about above her head, she wore her old white and gold kimono and had a questioning look in her eyes.
"Well, Rogue? What did you do...hmmm?" She asked excitedly.
Sofie sighed as Rogue just kept backing away.
At least some things are back to normal.
