As they walked through the Squadroom Abby pounced. "Did you two get things sorted? Did you talk? If not you can sort it in the car on the way or when you get back"
Ziva was getting pissed off with Abby so she shot her a dirty look as they walked past. She wasn't going to say anything because she knew it would be harsh and she would feel bad after. She knew Abby didn't see her because Tony was blocking her.
Tony ignored her and they followed Gibbs into the elevator. Abby was jiggling at the door "Well?! Am I going to be a bridesmaid or not?"
"Yes! It was never going that far anyway" Ziva snapped.
Abby watched at the doors closed then turned and walked to the other elevator to go down to her lab.
Gibbs, Tony and Ziva met McGee in the car and Gibbs made McGee move out of the driver's seat considering he didn't know where he was going. McGee sat in the back with Ziva while Tony rode shotgun. He looked at each of them. "This is gonna be fun" He grinned.
Ziva nodded "Of course it is." She said sounding sarcastic.
"You like kids don't you?" He asked.
"Yes"
"Do you want them?" All three men looked at her.
"Maybe one day" She replied staring out her window. "What about you, McGee? Ever want children?"
"Not really. I mean I like them but I don't think I wanna be a dad."
"I personally think you'd make a great dad if you do ever choose to go down that street" Ziva commented
Tony butted in "Road…Ziva…if he ever choses to go down that road not street"
"Whatever, it's the same thing"
McGee leaned forward "What about you Tony? You want kids? You wanna be a dad?"
"Hahah…dunno…kids don't really like me…Imagine being a dad with a kid that doesn't like you."
Ziva smirked "Ask my father…I'm sure he could give you some tips"
"Ohhh that's a brilliant idea. He'll kill me for getting you pregnant so that idea is out of the question"
"I don't know what gave you the idea that my father would want to kill you"
"Um…remember his reaction when we told him I proposed to you?"
"Yes…well..." She couldn't think of anything to say.
"Yeah…he would use my skin as his rug for his office and my head would be looking up at the door to greet people as they walk in."
"That's creepy" She said
Ziva flashed back to when she and Tony had told her father about the two of them being engaged.
FLASHBACK
"I think we should tell my father…" Ziva commented to Tony one evening.
"About what?"
"Getting engaged"
"You sure? I mean your dad wasn't exactly thrilled when we got together…"
"That is because we waited for a long time to tell him…"
"Oh come on…he can't really use that as an excuse. We didn't tell him because we knew he'd tell Vance and Vance would tell Gibbs and if you forgot we were trying to keep it quiet…"
"I know but I think we should tell him"
"Okay…how? We gonna invite him to come over to America and stay with us?"
Ziva laughed and shook her head "No. He'd not come and it would be an awkward atmosphere."
"Very well said…how we gonna tell him then?"
"Video call…then the worst he can do is shoot his computer"
"What about a phone call?" Tony tried to change her mind.
She shook her head "No…video call"
Tony sighed and nodded going to set the computer up. Ziva pulled up another chair and sat down next to him pressing the call button on her father's contact for a video call. It rung a few times before Eli picked up. "Ahh! Ziva! It is so lovely to hear from you…" He spotted Tony. "Tony…" He greeted him coldly.
"Eli" Tony greeted him back pleasantly so as not to upset Ziva.
"Hello Abba…how are you?" She asked.
"Very well; I trust you are….both….okay?" He forced the 'both' out of his mouth. She picked up on the fact that both men were trying with each other for her sake.
"Yes. We are, thank you." Ziva looked at Tony telling him to take over.
"Yeah…what she said…we are fine…oh and uh…we have an announcement"
"You better not have got her pregnant, Agent DiNozzo" Eli dropped the nice guy act and barked at Tony.
Tony looked at Ziva for help. She moved her chair closer to his and put her arm around him. "No. He hasn't and if he had what difference would it make to you?"
"I want grandchildren Ziva but if they are his I feel I'd be better off without them." He said glaring at Tony.
Ziva sighed "Why do you always have to be like that?" Ziva said. Eli didn't reply. "Anyway…what we were going to say was we are engaged."
Eli's face turned into a deep frown and he muttered to Ziva in Hebrew. They spoke for a few moments in Hebrew then Eli turned his gaze to Tony. "You better look after her" He growled.
Tony grinned cheerfully at Eli "Oh don't worry, Sir…with you on my case and with the amount I actually love your daughter, you don't need to worry about me looking after her" He said.
Eli scowled again and grunted goodbye to them both and disconnected the call. Tony snorted "Well…that went well…"
Ziva nodded "Well…at least he didn't attempt to shoot you through the computer."
Tony nodded "That's true."
END FLASHBACK
"If your dad had acted the way the Anna's in Leap Year then I think I'd be a lot more confident about talking to your dad."
"What are you talking about?"
"That film…Leap Year…with Amy Adams….She was waiting for her dad in a bar and he accidently over heard her say she was engaged and he was like 'Engaged! My daughters getting engaged!" And he got really excited…"
Ziva laughed "My father doesn't get excited…about anything…"
McGee spoke up "That's not true…remember when we had to interrogate him? He told me he'd be excited if you got pregnant and gave him the gift of grandchildren…"
"He said that?"
"Yeah….it was a while ago but he did say it" McGee nodded excitedly.
Ziva laughed once and Tony spoke again "I still think he'd kill me."
Gibbs pulled into their destination and looked at the one class of children waiting with their two teachers for them to arrive. The agents had been asked to dress in their baseball caps and jackets which they usually wore at the crime scenes. As they got out the car and walked over to the group they all started clapping…all the kids and the teachers.
The team looked around slightly confused but they didn't let it show. Gibbs walked up and shook the teacher's hand. "Mind telling us why we're here?"
The teacher introduced herself "I take it you're special agent Gibbs? I'm Hannah Maitland. This field trip was arranged by the kids. Obviously they all wanted to come to this old battle field as their parents are marines and then they asked for special NCIS escorts. They all just want to play games around this area. They've decided they want to split themselves into four groups and each group chose an agent to be their team leader while they play the games."
Gibbs looked at the sixteen kids sat around talking excitedly. "We came out coz a bunch of kids wanted us to?"
Hannah nodded "Well your director said that there had been no cases so he said he could spare a few agents."
Gibbs looked at his three agents talking and looking at the kids "This doesn't usually happen. In fact…this is the first ever time."
The teacher nodded "I'll tell the kids that." She turned to her class "Children…listen up…these agents have come out here specially…this is the first time they've done something like this so I want you to all thank them"
All kids chorused thank you to the agents. Gibbs turned to Ziva, McGee and Tony and told them what was going to happen. The teacher told the class to get into their groups and they did as they were asked. Gibbs turned to the kids "I'm Special Agent L. Jethro Gibbs" He pointed to Tony "That's Special Agent Tony DiNozzo" Then to McGee "Special Agent Tim McGee and finally Special Agent Ziva David" The only group of girls looked at Ziva when Gibbs introduced her and started nodding and whispering excitedly. "I understand we'll be playing a few games today in this old battle field and you all wanted to choose an Agent for your groups…so why don't you choose who you want."
One of the groups of boys yelled out "We want Special Agent DiNozzo!"
Gibbs shook their heads "Ladies first" He pointed to the girls group. "Who do you want?"
The girls put their heads together and whispered excitedly nodding. One of the girls spoke up "We want Agent David"
Gibbs nodded to Ziva who went and stood with the group of girls. There was an argument between the three remaining groups about who got Tony but it was settled by Gibbs. The two remaining chose their Agents and they all decided what they'd play first.
"Orienteering" their teacher said.
Ziva raised her arm "What exactly is orienteering?"
Tony snorted "Where we all get sent out to different points all of us blind folded so we dunno where we're going and we've got to find our way back. The first team to get back wins."
One of the boys from Tony's team laughed. "Good luck girls…if she doesn't know what it is you're gonna loose miserably"
Ziva shook her head at Tony and his team. One by one the teams were blind folded and taken out to where they would start. They all heard the teacher through the megaphone. "When you hear the claxon you can go!"
Tony looked at the boys in his team "Well…I've seen a lot of films so I have a lot of good ideas how we could get out of this" Each boy raised his hand and high fived Tony.
In McGee's team he looked at them "I was a boy scout when I was growing up so I've played this game many times before…I always won" They boys in his team raised their hands and high fived him.
In Gibbs's team they boys looked at him "Have you done anything that will help us win?"
"I was a marine sniper."
They looked at each other "Cool!" They all high fived Gibbs.
In Ziva's team the girls were looking at her "When I was a child my father would blindfold me, my brother and my sister and take us into the middle of the forest and leave us to find out way out. It was a game we played every weekend."
The girls grinned at her "We need a team name" One of them said.
Ziva looked at them "You think of one"
The girls got their heads together when they had decided they turned to Ziva "We decided Team Ziva…simple and everyone knows who we got"
Ziva laughed "If you're sure" They nodded and put their hands on top of each-others and nodded for Ziva to join them.
From where Tony was sat on his tree stump with his team he heard a cry in the distance of "TEAM ZIVA!"
He laughed "Not a chance in hell, David"
For a while it was each team playing the waiting game…then the claxon sounded and the game began.
Ziva looked at the girls. "Okay…so who knows a way to find out where we came from?"
One of the girls raised their hand "Listen to what we can hear outside of the forest?"
"Good…anyone else?"
"Look for the North Star"
Ziva smiled "That is a good answer but it won't help us in the day time"
"Isn't there something to do with the sun?"
"You can look at the sun to tell us what time it is"
The final girl spoke up "Shouldn't we be going if we want to win?"
Ziva shook her head "No…we want to think about this…not run in any random direction...sometimes logic plays out better than luck…if we look at the area around here we can see where there are broken twigs and footprints…showing us our way out."
The girls nodded excitedly and started looking around. "I found a print!" One of them said.
Ziva went over to look and nodded "Lead the way"
One of the girls grabbed her hand "I'm scared"
"You'll be fine…nothing is going to get you okay?"
The girl nodded but still clutched Ziva's hand as they started following the trail.
Two of the other teams had thought about their way out and which was the most sensible way but Tony and his team had randomly run in any which direction. They crashed through the bushes "I feel the clearing! I know we're near!" One of the kids shouted. Little did they know they were heading in completely the wrong direction.
Fifteen minutes passed and Ziva's team reached the edge of the forest first. One girl looked up at her "Those games you played with your dad paid off" She laughed and they all ran back to the home base.
Gibbs's team was next and he looked at Ziva "Good work…"
McGee arrived five minutes after Gibbs and he and his team flopped down exhausted. "We the last ones?" He asked.
Ziva shook her head. "No…Tony has yet to arrive…."
They all waited ages for him but no one from his team showed. Ziva started to worry but tried not to show it. One of the girls laughed "This is funny because Alfie said that we'd lose because we had someone who didn't know what orienteering was but we proved him wrong!"
Another five minutes went by and Ziva stood up pulling her phone out of her pocket and dialing Tony's number. He answered on the second ring "What's wrong, Ziva? Need help finding your way out of the deep dark forest?"
"No, Tony I don't. I was wondering if you do. Everyone else has been back for over half an hour."
"Darn! Well we only let you all beat us…we don't want to seem rude…."
"Where are you?"
He laughed "Next to a tall tree which is next to a small bush and then all around us is lots of other various shaped trees"
Ziva sighed knowing she asked a stupid question "Sorry…"
"Don't worry about it…how about we start shouting so you can come find us?"
"Okay…do that"
"Okay…bye"
She hung up the phone and faced everyone "They're going to start shouting so we can find them"
They all headed to the edge of the forest and listened. They heard faint yells and headed towards them leaving a trail behind them so they could find their way out. When they had gone a certain distance out they started shouting for their class mates and co-worker. Suddenly they heard screams coming towards them…in actual fact they were more battle cries than anything. A group of five people were running towards them. Four small one large.
Ziva rolled her eyes at Tony's child-like manner. He waltzed up to her and looked at her face "Were you scared? Is that why you called me? To make sure I hadn't been eaten by the forest monster?"
Ziva laughed once "Ha! No…I was more concerned with the safety of the children."
Tony smirked at her "Admit it…you were a tincy-wincy bit worried about me?"
Ziva raised an eye brow and was about to reply when she felt the same girl who was holding her hand earlier take hold of it. She looked down and smiled. "I'm scared again…" She said quietly.
Ziva crouched down in front of her "it's okay to be scared you know…it's healthy and it's really brave of you to admit you're scared. Not everyone can do that"
The girl looked at her "Were you scared when we were looking for them?"
Ziva smiled "I' one of those people who can't usually admit they're scared but yes…I was for a little bit" She was worried but she wasn't scared. She was saying it for the sake of the girl and it worked.
She smiled a huge gappie grin at Ziva and rushed off to walk with her friends. Tony smiled at Ziva as she stood "You handled that nicely"
"I was often saying things like that to Tali when we were growing up…in these kind of situations and when my father would have to go away…"
Tony took her hand as they walked back "You've done stuff like this before?"
Ziva nodded "Yes…remember when I told you my father would blindfold Ari, Myself and Tali?"
Tony nodded "Of course….I forgot…so who won?"
Ziva smiled "My team"
Tony rolled his eyes "Of course" He stopped making her stop with him. "I'm glad we got things sorted. I missed you while you were away…the couch was very uncomfortable"
"You slept on the couch when you had a bed…why?"
"I didn't want to sleep in the bed when you weren't there…"
Ziva smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist. He followed suit wrapping his arms around her waist. He looked through the trees to make sure no kids were around then turned back to her "Considering we're not at the office, I don't think Gibbs would mind" He commented leaning down and kissing her.
They were interrupted by the kid named Alfie. "Ew! Gross" I only came back to see if you were coming!" He made a fake being sick noise and ran off.
Tony yelled after him "If you tell anyone Alfie I'll make you pay!"
Ziva laughed "What are you going to do to a child Tony?"
He shrugged "I don't know…but I'll think of something"
With that they started walking back to the group.
hope you enjoyed :)
