Now that Wayle had followers, or subjects or whatever he should actually call them… He wanted to call them allies, but they had sworn fealty to him, and that made them his subjects…

No matter, that was an issue he could address later, for now he had to make sure to consolidate his powerbase, and that meant getting them a base of operations. Which was why he was headed over to try and convince the mayor to help them instead of the White Fang.

Apparently the man had, in his greed, helped various criminals, mainly by providing safe-houses and helping them sell stolen goods. Amongst these had been Roman Torchwick, and through this the White Fang had acquired a powerful bargaining chip in dealing with him.

It didn't help his case that he had used his power and connections to make sure he was the only person available for the mayoral position. That was to say he had blood on his hands and was corrupt to the core.

Wayle felt waves of irritation threatening to spill out from beneath the polite mask he was enforcing, normally it wasn't so much a mask as it was in his nature, but in this case he had to put some effort into it as he approached the door to the mayor's office unannounced.

Taking a deep breath he opened the door to find himself looking at three men. Closest to the door was a wiry young man that was furiously trying to sort a pile of paperwork, Wayle assumed he was the secretary.

The second man was seated in front of a large desk and seemed to be rather well built, a man of violence Wayle felt. He wore a uniform that Wayle suspected belonged to the local police, and the man did give off that feeling of authority that came with being part of the law enforcement.

Lastly was the slightly rotund, sleazy looking man sitting behind the large desk, surrounded by the air of a man who held power by dishonest means, one of distrust and greed.

They were all looking at him with surprise, which was to be expected he supposed, he was unannounced after all.

As he entered the room he noted with disgust a number of busts and paintings depicting the sleazy man in the mayor's seat, he had clearly been using this office for a long time, and had no inclination to stop any time soon.

"Who are you!? What are you doing here!?" The policeman rose from his seat and approached Wayle threateningly.

Wayle gave a small mock bow. "Forgive my most rude intrusion, my name is Wayle Tyran." Wayle looked the mayor in the eye with a slight narrowing in his eyes. "I trust you are familiar with that name?"

The slightly panicked man calmed down and motioned for the policeman to stand down. "Ah, you are the Huntsman we sent for, how good of you to arrive so quickly." The man said with a slightly nasal voice. "You see we have had some-"The man continued with practised ease into the explanation that was most likely meant to trick him into running around in a wild goose chase.

Of course, it wouldn't have worked even if he had been ignorant of the trickery.

"Trouble with the White Fang?" Wayle interrupted the man, causing shocked faces on the men before him while the secretary sounded like it was an expected shock. Wayle noted that the man had not known beforehand, but had been aware of the mayor's illicit dealings. Either that or he had incredible control over his mind and emotions.

"Wha-what are you talking about? We have no problems with the White Fang-"The mayor quickly moved to dismiss the notion.

"And yet it was on their instruction you sent for me." Wayle said coldly. "I already know everything, including the material they used to blackmail you."

The faces of the men before him paled. "What do you want?" The mayor's voice trembled slightly.

"I want you to help me." Wayle extended his hand, even as he suppressed the annoyance at the worm before him. "I plan to end the White Fang, once and for all."

"Then you must protect me! They will kill me if they find out… No, worse! They will reveal all to the kingdom! Then my career… my life's work will be…!" The man rambled.

Wayle struggled to suppress the rising annoyance at this cowardly worm.

"No, it will be easier to deal with him alone. I will kill him, and then we can tell the people at Beacon whatever and we will do the White Fang a favour!" The policeman suddenly shouted, and Wayle could see that the mayor considered the option before nodding.

The policeman immediately lashed out with is weapon, a baton that he had hidden somehow. It never reached Wayle, as halfway through the swing the man's head had been separated from his body, Wayle suddenly standing behind him.

"N-no! Please don't kill me! I'll help you! I'll give you money! I'll give you anything you want! Just don't kill me!" The mayor's voice reached a fevered pitch.

How dare he? How dare this cowardly worm first try to have him killed and then offer him anything in exchange for his life?! Wayle was boiling over with anger at this worm. He couldn't help it, he just couldn't stand this kind of man, who would do whatever, who thought that he could just throw worldly things at someone and it would solve his problem, undo attempted murder…

Wayle's eyes narrowed dangerously, his cold gaze piercing straight through the pathetic thing in front of him. "Then die." Wayle only said those two words as he turned around and walked away.

The man looked at him in bewilderment before a scream tore through his throat as his stomach burst without warning, spilling blood and intestinal matter all over his desk.

But he wasn't dead, his most vital organs were still intact, keeping him alive for some moments still even as he bled out and his own stomachs acid ate at him. And yet despite the great pain he felt he did not pass out, for Wayle wouldn't let him, and as such he was conscious and able to feel every moment of his death.

Of course, it only took a few seconds before he bled out anyway, if Wayle had really wanted him to suffer he could have used so many more methods, but the worm had agitated him to the point where he had simply burst and caused too much damage at once.

He stopped halfway through and looked at the secretary, who was currently busy disgorging the contents of his stomach.

He would need to do something about him as well.

When the secretary had finally finished disgorging his stomach content he wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt and slowly turned to look at Wayle. His gaze was a mix of terror, awe and… gratefulness?

"Mr. Tyran, while most would say that what you did was excessive, I see this as self-defence and righteous retribution. You said you wanted the mayor's help? What kind of help did you mean then?" The secretary said, his voice nervous but otherwise surprisingly steady.

Wayle gave a slightly approving smirk, at least this one had some spine. "I needed to keep a few things secret from those manipulating him and I wanted to use this town as a base of operations for my followers." Wayle said with a self-deprecating smile.

"Then allow me to aid you. Even if what you did was illegal, that does not change the fact that we could not take legal action against him. As such, there is many of us who will be thankful for your actions. And quite frankly, with a presence like yours, many would follow you if you asked." The secretary bowed deeply, not to appease him, but out of respect.

An amused smile crept over Wayle's face. "While I do not believe they would follow that easily, I also have no intention of dragging the entirety of the town into this anyway, so it is a moot point." Wayle said with amusement in his voice. Then he shifted gears and became more serious. "Very well, your respectfulness and honesty has impressed me, I would gladly accept your aid, for what it is worth."

"Do not worry, for until a new mayor is elected I will take care of administering this town."

Wayle raised an eyebrow at this proclamation.

The secretary saw this and explained on. "You see, it was decided that in the event of a mayor's sudden passing, his secretary would take the reins until a replacement could be elected."

"I see. Then I wish you luck in finding a worthy replacement. For now the arrangements will be made through one of my closer subordinates, a Faunus named Ouka Genei. You will now her because of her hair colour."

"A soft pink like the cherry blossom?" The secretary asked curiously.

"I wouldn't know about the cherry blossom thing, but soft pink is most certainly correct." Wayle answered amusedly.

"Then I think I know who you speak of. Very well, I assume she will seek me out? Then have her come here soon, may I inquire as to the reason you will not handle this yourself?"

"I have business to attend to, and as such little time to do more than lay the foundations of my powerbase."

"And mighty are those!" The man before him said excitedly. Before taking on a sheepish look and chuckling nervously.

Wayle laughed joyously. "Your enthusiasm is good! I look forward to seeing your results!" Wayle gave him a wide smile. "As a matter of fact, why not run for mayor? I feel that you would do well." Wayle said encouragingly.

"Truly?" The man asked.

"Call it intuition based on previous experience." Wayle turned to leave. "Oh dear. I forgot to ask your name."

"I was given the name Iulius Aureus. It will be my pleasure to serve." The man, now introduced as Iulius, bowed deeply again, almost managing to look graceful despite the vomit on his clothes.

"Likewise Iulius." Wayle smiled. "Oh, and you might want to clean up." He then pointed out helpfully.

He then chuckled as revelation crept up Iulius' face and he hurried off, presumably to get himself cleaned up.

-Break—

"You killed them?" The incredulous voice of Ouka rang out.

"Unfortunately, yes. But a man named Iulius Aureus swore to aid us, Ouka, I want you to head over and work with him to work things out." Wayle's voice responded.

"Yes my lord." Ouka bowed and left.

There was something unsettling with how those people had taken to calling that man 'Lord'. Of course, she couldn't see where they were coming from, he had a presence that demanded at least that level of respect and subservience, although it seemed that he himself wasn't all that keen on it.

Which aggravatingly enough just made him seem all the more worthy.

It helped him that he was powerful, polite, charming and handsome… And she really needed to get her act together. It was almost miraculous that the traitors hadn't just killed her and her friends when they refused to join them.

She needed to figure out a way to escape and warn the White Fang of this treachery. Which of course was easier said than done with some of their finest guarding them. Although she had to admit that if not for her friends she might just have joined these traitors…

She quickly shook that thought out of her head. She couldn't let herself be lead astray from the White Fang's glorious cause. Although she couldn't shake that nagging feeling that they had long since strayed from that cause. Sometimes it seemed like all they were trying to do was take revenge, not change things for the better…

Damn, with no better thing to do her mind was wandering too much. The poisonous words of Wayle Tyran sure did slip past many defences.

She looked to her friends, kept bound until better holding areas could be set up. They had lost all will to fight when their target had with contemptuous ease incapacitated one of the finest fighters in their age group.

Without even touching him. It frightened her to think that they had been expected to stall him, with force if necessary. While she couldn't allow herself to think that they had been expected to all die, it was clear that it was the most likely outcome. That was what her instincts had told her, and she trusted those, as they had kept her alive in extremely hostile conditions.

"Master." The adorable voice of Wayle's companion reached her ears. "Contact with Vale and Beacon has been cut off." The tone of her voice indicated that this had been expected.

"So it has begun. For now I want all of you to stay here and establish yourselves! Try not to bother the townspeople, if possible you might even want to aid them, build good will amongst them! I will head back to Vale, but will endeavour to return as soon as possible! That is all!" With those words he turned on his heels with a flourish and marched off with purpose.

Those who stand in his way will soon come to regret it.

Author's notes: I can't decide whatever I like this chapter or not, on one hand it had some parts I feel happy about but on the other there are parts of it that felt a bit weird. What do you think? Also, it is at this point that things get difficult for me, should I just depart entirely from canon or try to keep to it at least somewhat? I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
