Episode 17 Chapter 4

The next morning Jude was dusting the living room. Callie walked in. "What are you doing?" She ruffled his hair.

"I got in trouble last night."

This was news to Callie. Jude never did anything wrong. "What did you do?"

"I snuck into an R rated movie with Connor." Jude spoke proudly.

Callie was confused. "Why?" She said with her hands on her hips.

"I don't know." Jude did it because of Connor. He wanted to impress him.

"So what's the punishment?"

"I'm grounded and I have to do extra chores." Even though he was in trouble he felt like he was even more a part of the family. He actually seemed to be excited about it.

"Please try not to get into too much trouble."

"The punishments are different here." They were used to beatings and way worse than just being grounded.

Callie nodded. He was right about that.

"I heard you and Brandon fighting. Is everything okay?"

Callie didn't want to worry him. "Everything is fine. I promise." Callie hugged her brother. "Finish your chores. No more sneaking into movies." Callie smiled. For the first time in a long time she actually felt like his sister and not his substitute mom. It was a great feeling.

Callie walked into the kitchen. Stef was having her morning cup of coffee. "Hi."

"Jude is grounded." Callie stated. She wasn't really asking.

Stef nodded. "Yep. I never thought we would have to punish our sweet boy."

"I think he is happy about it."

Stef raised an eyebrow.

"Jude is definitely special. He is a little weird. I think in his mind this makes him even more a part of this family."

Stef smiled.

"He is so happy here."

"Well we are happy to have both of you here. If we need to ground you to make you feel more a part of the family we will."

"I feel like a part of this family. You don't have to ground me." Callie waved her hands and laughed.

Stef smiled. "Good. We should be able to adopt you pretty soon. I'm supposed to talk to the guy sometime today."

"That's awesome."

Stef wrapped her arms around Callie. "I can't wait for the two of you to officially be ours."

Callie couldn't either. It's all she wanted.

Jesus was in his room. He had emailed Lexi back and forth for most of the night. They were just talking about anything and everything. Jesus never did tell her that he loved her and wanted to get back together. He avoided that with all cause. He wasn't sure what his answer would be.

Jesus walked into Mariana's room.

"Thanks for knocking."

"I need to talk to you about Lexi."

"What about her?"

He sat on the edge of her bed. "I think that she wants to get back together."

That was a surprise to Mariana. "I thought you were dating Emma."

"We aren't really calling it anything."

"But you like her."

"Yeah. I do. But I love Lexi."

"She is a million miles away."

"Maybe I could just date them both."

Mariana threw a pillow at him. "I won't let you do that. You've got to pick one of them."

Jesus sighed. That's not what he wanted her to say.

"Lexi is my best friend, but she isn't here. Emma is."

"I know. You're right." Jesus sighed. He actually hated when she was right.

"I know. I'm pretty smart."

"Yeah. Yeah."

At Mike's apartment Dani was sitting on the couch. Mike walked out of the bedroom. "Yes thank you for calling. You can bet I'll let him know." Mike hung up the phone. "I'm going to kill him."

"Who?" Dani stood up to comfort him. She could tell that he was tense.

"Brandon. I don't know who the hell he thinks he is. But it stops today." Mike walked into the kitchen to find his keys.

"What did he do?" Dani followed him.

"His piano teacher just called to let me know that Brandon hasn't gone to piano in over a month. He is out of the program." Mike grabbed his keys. "I knew I should have told Stef that day he lied to me. I've been giving him money." Mike was angry. "What the hell has he been doing with my money?"

Dani wanted to calm him down but realized it was better to let him go. He needed time to process it.

Brandon walked into Lauren's house. He was surprised to see Vico. Before Brandon could say anything, Vico had thrown him up against the wall.

"Whoa."

"VICO!" Lauren exclaimed.

"I don't think you understand who you are playing games with." Vico was all in his face. "Those kids told me that you didn't give them the IDs. You are an idiot for thinking I wouldn't find out."

"You got your money." Brandon fought back.

Vico let go of him. "Yeah. I actually doubled up. They paid me for their IDs." He held out the key. "I just went back into the office."

"We put that back on my moms keychain."

"I made a copy dumbass." Vico yelled at him.

Brandon couldn't believe this was happening. "Well then you can give me my money back."

"Nope." Vico smiled.

"Brandon, how did you pay him back?" Lauren asked.

"I haven't been going to piano lessons."

"Well I'm not giving you anything, but you are going to help me out. Whatever I need you are going to do it?"

"No. I am done with you." Brandon felt good about it. "I don't have to do anything for you anymore."

"Oh yes you do." Vico shoved Brandon. "Or I'll tell everyone about Callie."

"What are you talking about?" He better leave Callie alone.

"Oh you know just the fact that you are in love with her."

Brandon stood frozen.

"I'm not in love with her."

"She is so close to being adopted. I'm sure your moms will go crazy if they hear you shared a kiss. She probably won't get adopted."

Brandon couldn't believe he knew. "That's none of your business."

"It is now." Vico walked to the door. "When I made the IDs I grabbed the answer keys to all of the tests. You are going to be my partner. You don't have a choice." Vico walked out.

Brandon looked at Lauren. "What am I going to do? I'm never going to be rid of him."

"The first thing you are going to do is tell me how much you owe your dad. And then we will figure out the rest." Lauren hugged him.

Brandon couldn't believe that he had gotten himself into this mess.

Callie, Kiara, and Daphne are at the diner. "So how's the new job going?" Callie asked her.

"I actually haven't started yet."

"You will do great Daph." Kiara told her.

"I hope so. I've got to get my girl back."

"You will." Callie encouraged her.

"This program is hard man. I'm afraid I am never going to get things right."

"You are so lucky Callie." Kiara looked at her. "You got the Foster kid hookup. We all dream about finding people like you got."

"Yeah I am pretty lucky. But it will happen for you too Kiara."

"Yeah. Well I just don't know."

"Can we please stop talking about all this emotional crap?" Daphne hit her hand on the table. "I want to talk about the good stuff."

"And what is that exactly?" Callie asked.

"Ryan." Kiara answered.

"There is nothing to tell."

"Oh please." Daphne pointed at Callie's face. "You are blushing."

"And don't say you aren't. Because you always do when we talk about him." Kiara smiled. "Neither one of us is getting any. We have to live vicariously through you."

"I'm not getting any from Ryan." Callie fought back.

"But you had a date last night?" Daphne raised her eyebrow. "How did it go?"

"It would have been better had Brandon not ruined it."

"Brandon?"

"Foster brother Brandon?" Daphne needed her to clarify.

"Yep."

"What's up with him?"

"He was high."

"What?" Kiara laughed a little. "Did your moms ring his neck?" They had heard Callie's stories about the moms. They thought Stef and Lena were the coolest parents around, but they knew they didn't play around.

"I didn't tell them. I'm not sure how they didn't know."

Daphne shook her head. "I thought he was the good one."

"Yeah well I think it is all my fault." Callie knew she could be honest with them.

"Girl, what are you talking about?"

"I kissed him."

"Last night?" Daphne couldn't believe what she was hearing. "He is your brother."

"Not last night. It was the night Stef and Lena got married. He was just so nice to me. I thought we had a connection."

"And?"

"I wanted a family. He wasn't happy with my decision. Ever since then he has just gone downhill."

"His moms don't know?" Daphne asked.

Callie shook her head. "We have to keep it a secret. I am so close to getting adopted."

"Do you have feelings for him?" Kiara asked.

"No. I've seen the real Brandon. He is just like all the other guys I have had in my life." Callie sighed. "A big letdown."

Kiara and Daphne couldn't believe this.

"I just hope Brandon doesn't screw up everything that you've worked for." Daphne told her. "Guys can be jerks especially when their hearts are broken."

Callie hoped Brandon wouldn't do anything stupid. She needed her family more than anything in the world.

Mike was pacing back and forth at the Adams Foster house. Lena was sitting on the sofa and Stef in the chair. They had tried to calm Mike down, but he wasn't having it. "I can't believe that he lied to me." Mike sighed.

"He will be home soon." Lena stated. "You need to calm down. This isn't going to get us anywhere."

"I'm not calming down." Mike was exasperated. He didn't need her telling him to calm down. "Brandon is completely out of control and being calm with him isn't working."

"We don't know why he lied." Stef hoped Brandon had a good explanation.

"It's that girl." Mike knew she was trouble.

"We can't blame her for Brandon's decisions."

"Like Hell," Mike yelled. He hadn't meant too. "I'm sorry." Mike apologized once he saw Stef's facial expression. "I feel like we are losing control of our son. We give him an inch and he takes the whole damn yard."

"We just need to listen to what he has to say. It might not be as bad as we think."

"He will probably tell us more lies." Mike sat down on the edge of the couch. They couldn't trust him.

"He is a good kid, Mike." Stef assured Mike.

"Yeah." Mike wasn't sure he believed that anymore. "Something is going on with him, and it is high time we figured it out."

A few minutes later, Brandon walked into the house. He was surprised to see his dad. "Hey dad. What are you doing here?"

Mike stood up. "You owe me some answers." And some money...

Brandon looked at his moms and then back at his dad. This wasn't good.

Uh Oh! Will Brandon be able to weasel his way out of this one too?

Let me know what you thought!
