Chapter 37
Casa Swan-Mills
"You do realize this is your parents doing this. They're going to go overboard," Regina commented as she lay there running her fingers lazily up and down Emma's arm that was laying across her stomach. After a tiring day with the Charmings, Regina and Emma had headed back to the manor for the late afternoon while Henry chose to stay with his grandparents for the night and took the opportunity to take a mid-afternoon nap.
"Ugh, I know. I don't want to talk about it." Emma groaned as she lay there snuggled up against Regina. Silence followed as she thought a moment. "Actually, speaking of overboard…" Emma leaned up on her elbow and slapped Regina lightly on the arm. "Why'd you agree with them? You know how they are."
Regina arched her brow as a half evil smirk came upon her face. "You told me to be nice, dear." Emma gave her a playful glare which only caused Regian to chuckle and change the subject. "So, have you gotten in touch with Erin to check up on Maddie?"
"Crap, I forgot. Sorry," Emma gave a sheepish apologetic look before rolling over to grab her cell phone from the end table. Regina followed suit, rolling toward her and wrapping her arm around the blonde's waist as she made the call. Emma smiled and rested back against her as she let the phone ring.
"Oh, you decide to remember Maddie and I, huh?" Erin answered on the other end of the line.
Emma rolled her eyes at her best friend's greeting, or lack thereof. "Hi to you too."
"You know I can hear that from over here."
"What?" Emma inquired in confusion.
"That rolling your eyes thing you do," Erin explained which caused Emma to do it again. "Yup, there it goes again."
"Would you stop that," Emma scoffed at her friend before letting out a chuckle. Regina leaned closer and kissed her shoulder, lightly grazing her fingers over her shoulder and down her bicep as the blonde talked.
"So did Regina finally untie you long enough to talk?" Erin teased.
"Hmm?" Emma was becoming distracted by Regina's movements.
"I thought maybe you guys got away so you could get a little kinky," Erin stated, waggling her eyebrows even though her friend couldn't see her.
That snapped her out of her daze. "Oh my God, Erin!"
Regina had overheard what the young woman had said over the phone and smirked, nipping at Emma's neck causing a gasp before the blonde could recover. An opportunity struck her in thought and she decided to dabble in the possibilities.
Emma took the phone away from her ear a moment and turned her head to look over her shoulder at Regina. "What are you doing? I'm on the phone," she let out in a hissed whisper. Regina fixed her with a devilish smirk. "And wipe that look off your face, devil woman." Regina arched her brow at that remark and rested her head back as though she would stop. But as soon as Emma turned her attentions back to the phone, Regina struck and began making slow caressing circles along Emma's abdomen, gracefully inching lower as she went.
"Are you okay?" Erin inquired with concern when Emma's breathing hitched and seemed irregular all of a sudden.
"Uh… yeah. Fine." The blonde cleared her throat and tried to swat Regina's hand away. "We were just calling to find out about Maddie. Is she doing alright?" She was desperate to keep her breathing under control and get back to the reason for the call.
"How are you, Erin? Oh, I'm fine. Thanks for asking! Worst best friend ever," the woman came back, sarcasm oozing from her words. Emma just rolled her eyes at her friend's antics. "You're doing it again. And Maddie is totally fine. We're getting along great. Spent most of the day at the park. She even made a couple new friends, and I may or may not have gotten someone's number thanks to her." Erin took the moment to scratch the top of the Beauceron's head.
Regina began her caresses again, moving her hand over and along Emma's jean clad hip bone, then moved closer inward. Emma was trying to ignore her but her body was quickly betraying her.
"That's great," Emma exclaimed, the last word coming out in an almost squeak as Regina's hand dipped between her legs. How the hell did she undo my jeans without me knowing? Damn magic.
"Are you sure you're…" Erin's question fell away as realization hit her. "Oh. My. God. Are you… is she…"
"Wha? No! No this is not… she's not…" Emma could feel her face heating and she wished she could find the nearest trap door to fall through and end this call as she heard nothing but laughter coming from the other end of the line.
"Say no more, love." Erin managed to catch her breath, grabbing at her side where she had laughed so much it hurt. "I'll let your lady take care of your apparent needs, but remind me to buy her a drink and give her a high five when you guys get back here."
Erin was still laughing when Emma ended the call in a huff and put the phone down. She turned around and fixed her wife with a glare. "What the hell, Regina?!" She was trying to be mad but her body was still tingling from the brunette's teasing and it was winning out. Regina just continued to smirk, her brow arching seductively. "Ugh and you call me the incorrigible one."
Regina laughed at the comment and Emma rolled them over, penning the brunette down as she hovered over her but Regina just continued to chuckle causing a smile to finally come upon Emma's face. "You're so beautiful when you laugh." Regina's chuckles started to fade at Emma's admission and they both simply regarded one another, lost in each others eyes.
"Have I told you how glad I am I didn't lose this Regina when we came back here?" Emma inquired, reaching out and moving a stray lock of hair from the other woman's brow.
"Only a time or two in the last 24 hours." Regina smiled softly and turned to kiss Emma's finger as it trailed down her face. "And I'm glad I didn't lose you," she added softly.
"Never." Emma cupped Regina's cheek and dipped her head to capture the brunette's lips in a kiss before resting her forehead against the other womans. "So… Henry is with my parents for the night so we have the rest of the late afternoon and evening to ourselves." She sat up and straddled Regina. "What do you want to do?" While she waited for a response, she ran her hands up under Regina's shirt and raked her short nails over her stomach. "We could always finish what you were attempting to start while I was on the phone."
Regina feigned disinterest. "You didn't seem to want to play, so the mood has left me." Her lip twitched, trying to hide her amusement as she turned away, all of a sudden deciding to find the alarm clock fascinating.
Emma pinched Regina's side, causing her to jerk and almost pushed Emma off of her, which only made the blonde bust out laughing. "I was trying to talk on the phone! You're the one that wanted me to call and check up on Maddie in the first place. Now Erin thinks we were doing the horizontal tango while I was on the phone with her."
"And how exactly would she know we were horizontal, dear? There are many ways I could have taken you," Regina confided, a devilish twinkle in her eye. "Many...ways."
Emma's mouth went dry. She knew very well about those many ways. With Emma zoned out, Regina took that moment to swiftly lift up Emma's shirt and lean up in a sitting position to capture a nipple with her mouth, breaking the trance the blonde was in. Regina's hands splayed along Emma's back and up toward her shoulder blades, pulling her closer as she suckled and teased the nipple she was tending to.
Emma released a moan as her hand found her way into thick, rich brown locks. "Mmm… You know you could just use your magic like you did earlier with my zipper and just get rid of all these." She started tugging at Regina's shirt.
The brunette let go of the nipple and smirked up at her. "Maybe I think you should work for it." Regina cocked her head a little and gave a playful flick of her brow before laying back down and waiting.
"Oh is that so? Isn't that delaying your own satisfaction…, my Queen?" Emma purred as she leaned over her, hands coming to rest on each side of Regina's head as she dipped down and flicked her tongue out at the brunette's upper lip.
"You're somewhat adorable when you think you have control over the matter, dear." Emma cocked her head at the statement, Regina reaching up to run her finger along her wife's jawline. "One of us is a Queen, while the other has the hormones of a teenager. I think we know who has more patience in the end," Regina continued, amusement coating her words.
Oh we're playing it like that are we? Emma's eyes narrowed in challenge as a mischievous smile slowly spread across her face. "Are you sure about that?" She asked as she grinded against Regina, the brunette arching briefly as her body reacted to Emma's just like it always did. Emma bent to whisper in her wife's ear, "We both know neither one of us would last."
That caused Regina to laugh as she wrapped her arms around Emma, bringing her down on top of her as their lips met. She rolled them over so that she was on top before breaking the kiss. "When it comes to you, I believe you're quite right, dear." Regina gave a devilish wink before flicking her wrist, Emma's clothes vanishing in the blink of an eye.
Emma gasped at the sudden cool air caressing her bare skin, a stark contrast to the heat she was feeling within. "So, what you're saying is," she licked her lips, I turn you into a hormonal teen?" She bit her bottom lip as she reached around and smacked Regina on the ass.
Regina's eyes widened in shock. "You did not just smack my…"
"Royal ass?" Emma interrupted with a cheeky grin. "Indeed I did."
"Emma Swan, if you…"
Emma interrupted again to correct her. "Swan-Mills, please get it right, darling. You know… the whole marriage thing? Till death do us part, or well, in our case… forever."
Regina scoffed. "Your fake, innocent cute act will not help you."
"Aww. I'm cute now?" Emma batted her lashes. Regina simply narrowed her eyes and instead of answering, reached up and tweaked one of Emma's nipples. The blonde let out a yelp before groaning a little. "Oh are you going kinky on me?"
"You wish," Regina smirked then pushed off to get off the bed and to tease her wife.
"What the…" Emma sat up and grabbed Regina before she could get off the bed and tackled her backward. "Oh no you don't."
"Emma," Regina tried to say more but was laughing at her wife's antics trying to get her back in bed. She pretended to fight back a few times before giving up and letting Emma pen her down.
Emma narrowed her eyes as Regina continued to quietly chuckle. "You weren't seriously going to leave me like that, were you?" She questioned as she lowered her face mere inches from the brunette's.
In answer to her wife's question, Regina closed the small gap and captured her lips in a possessive kiss, while freeing her wrists so she could wrap her arms around the blonde. She pulled her down onto her, slowly trailing her hand down Emma's spine, then over her ass before removing her hand, bringing it back down with a smack.
Emma squeaked but was muffled with the kiss. "Paybacks," Regina commented as the kiss broke, causing them both to end up laughing.
Emma pressed her lips against the brunette's in a chaste fashion, continuing to plant kisses down her chin then along her jawline. "I think you forgot something," Emma whispered in her ear then nibbled on it.
"Mmm… and what's that, dear?"
Emma pulled back and fiddled with a button on the brunette's blouse as she locked eyes with her. "You're still entirely over dressed. So why don't you make quick with that magic voodoo you do," she waggled her brows, "and fix that."
Regina chuckled and flicked her wrist, purple smoke lacing around her, leaving bare skin in it's wake. "Better?" Regina asked, placing her hand on the back of the blonde's head and bringing her down to kiss her deeply, not waiting for an answer.
Emma molded herself against her body. It never ceased to amaze her how perfectly they fit together. "Guess this answers my question on what we're doing with our alone time."
Regina gave an amused smile and rolled them over, the blonde laughing which warmed Regina's heart.
Emma stood there leaning over the island in the kitchen, eating out of a pint of ice cream at three o'clock in the morning. She was completely lost in thought as Regina lay sleeping upstairs. She kept going back to what had been on her mind since their wedding, wondering what it would be like to have a little mini Regina running around. It had only been a fleeting thought from time to time, nothing she ever brought up in conversation with her wife because she simply thought it was a side effect, as it were, to being happy and newly wed. But being back here for some reason brought all the memories flooding back even stronger of missing out on Henry's life which made the thoughts of a little one even more prevalent.
She was so invested in her thoughts, she didn't notice Regina enter the kitchen. The brunette leaned against the entrance way and admired the view a few moments. Emma's long shirt rode up over her hips as she continued to lean over. Regina thought of using her magic to take them back to their room, but instead she pushed off the wall and came up behind the blonde, wrapping her arms around her waist. "I should have known I'd find you in the food." She placed a gentle kiss at the curve of her neck.
Emma set the spoon down into the half empty pint and leaned back into the embrace, moving her hands down over Regina's arms, a low hum of contentment escaping her lips.
"Is everything alright?"
"Fine, I was just thinking."
Worry weaved its way into Regina's psyche. It always seemed to, no matter how hard she tried. "About?" She inquired, trying not to let her imagination take control and set her into panic. This town would be the death of her.
"It's nothing. Just crazy ramblings in my head." Emma turned into the brunette's arms and smiled, giving her a kiss and fixing a lock of hair from her face.
Regina's brow knitted together when she noticed her wife's smile didn't quite reach her eyes like it normally did. "Why are you keeping something from me?"
Emma's face fell. She should have known damn well Regina would read through her, just as she could do in return. She knew if she told regina she would freak out on her. But she also knew if she didn't, Regina would come to her own conclusion and would think of worst scenarios because that is what she always did. Emma sighed and looked down as she gathered her thoughts.
"Because with being back here and now the whole reception thing my parents are throwing, it's bad timing to bring up anything, especially something that honestly is just unimportant gibberish in my head. It's why I was keeping these thoughts to myself. They're nothing really. I promise."
Regina stepped back and folded her arms. "Emma, you're rambling. You ramble when you're nervous. What is it?"
"It's just…" Emma reached out and placed her hands on the brunette's hips and brought her back to her. "Have you ever thought about more kids?" Emma managed to finally let the words tumble forth.
Regina's arms fell to her side as she stood there in a bit of shock. She could have come up with so many things that Emma could have been thinking, except that. "No. You know I can never have children, that's why I adopted Henry. The adoption process wasn't the easiest either." This was a subject she had always tried to lock away. She could already feel the darkness wanting to devour her and take her back to those reasons why she took the potion, take her back to those dark times and that one action that she now feared would take away her happiness now.
"Duh, right." Emma rolled her eyes at herself for lack of brains in the moment. She had been so wrapped up in thinking about the idea of a little version of Regina running amok she had forgotten the other woman's… circumstance, as it were. "Sorry," Emma offered a little sheepishly.
Regina couldn't help the little smile that tugged at the corner of her mouth. If it had been anyone else, she probably would have set fire to them, but it never failed for Emma to push the darkness away, just by being her. Regina reached up and brushed her wife's hair away from her face before cupping her cheek and kissing her tenderly, the blonde melting into her and wrapping her arms around Regina's waist. "No, I'm sorry I can't give you what you want."
Emma just shook her head. "You have given me what I want." She touched where the brunette's heart beat. "You gave me your heart and all the love that came with it. You gave me a home where I feel adored and wanted." She smiled with a blush and placed a small light kiss upon her lips.
"You could still have a child, you know?" Regina offered and poked her in the ribs lightly. Emma chuckled and flinched to the side.
"Yeah I know, I just… Do you really want another me running around this place? I mean really."
"Gods, no. You're trouble enough. And I already know all of Henry's bad habits clearly come from you," Regina feigned disgust at the mere thought.
"Hey!" Emma jabbed her back as payback and they both chuckled softly. When the laughter fell away, Emma took Regina's hands into her own and brought them up to kiss her knuckles. "But… how sure are you that you can't have kids?"
"Emma, I know magic. I know the potion was correct."
"Yeah, well… I was raised in a land that doesn't believe in magic."
Regina, amused at her wife's child like tone. "Oh? And so what exactly is your point in that, dear?"
Emma looked up in thought for a moment before dropping her gaze back to the brunette. "That I would like a second opinion on the matter," she said with a smug grin.
She was met with an amused smile in return. "Oh is that so?" Emma just nodded once in a final agreement with herself. "You're only going to get hurt thinking like that, you do realize?"
Emma just narrowed her eyes. "Humor me." She gave Regina a peck on the lips.
Regina just shrugged. "I already know the outcome so it is of no consequence to me. As you wish, princess."
Emma's eyes widened. "Well I see my movies are starting to rub off on you."
"It would seem so, unfortunately."
"Hey!" Emma tickled the brunette's sides causing her to squirm and try to get away, but Emma grabbed her and pulled her into a kiss. Regina relaxed and brought her arms up to wrap around the blonde's neck. "It's still too early to be up," Emma mumbled into the kiss.
Regina laughed and broke the kiss. "You're the one that was up eating ice cream in the middle of the night."
"Shush." She pecked Regina on the cheek then let go and turned around to put up the ice cream. "It's too early to argue who was up blah blah blah." She waved her free hand in the air dismissing the matter.
"Argue?" Regina questioned in amusement. "We have prime evidence of the matter."
Emma just chuckled as she shut the refrigerator door and made her way back to her wife, holding out her hand. "I see no evidence of what you speak of."
Regina quirked her brow, then ignoring Emma's hand, scooped up the blonde and put her over her shoulder.
Emma's eyes widened in shock as she let out a shriek. "What the… put me down!" Regina only laughed and turned around to walk out of the kitchen with the blonde hoisted over her shoulder. "Okay seriously, this isn't funny… I could hit my head, you're short without your heels on." The brunette came to a halt and Emma relaxed in relief, thinking the other woman was going to let her down, until the words she had spoken registered. Oh shit. "Regina, I didn't mean…" Her sentence was broken with a shriek as she received a swift smack on the rear.
"What was that, dear?" Regina purred.
Emma chuckled. "I said," she cleared her throat, "you're adorable?" She commented with an innocent question like tone. That earned her a pinch on her thigh, which made her squirm and laugh. "Okay! Okay! I think you just like being able to smack my ass, to be honest. Clearly the queen has returned." Another smack came across her behind and it just made her laugh that much harder. "Seriously, Regina, set me down, I can't breathe." She managed to say between laughing.
The brunette finally set her down as they reached the foot of the stairs, Emma still chuckling. She wrapped her arms around Regina's waist and kissed her until the brunette began to relax into her before she pulled away with a smirk. "Race you upstairs." Emma challenged before taking off up the stairs two at a time.
Regina slowly opened her eyes, coming out of the daze she had been lured into from the kiss, just in time to see the retreating blonde disappear toward their room. She shook her head and started to make her way up the stairs at her own pace. "That's it. You're grounded!"
"Oh the horror!" Emma yelled from in the room. "Trapped in the house with the love of my life, how will I ever bear it?!"
Regina turned the corner to see Emma leaning against the door frame with a winning smile. "You're such an idiot."
"But always yours."
