Yuka Tsukino, adoraailsa92, MoonFairy00, and aurelia! Thank you all for reviewing!
Yuka Tsukino - I'm glad liked the sweetness, and also that you're getting a bit angry with the Ministry, it'll be important as the story goes along!
adoraailsa92 - Hope I've not made you wait too long for the new update! I'm so happy you like it so much, sometimes when I read bits, I feel the same! They're just so lovely (and they practically write themselves, so its okay to say that, haha)
MoonFairy00 - YOU'RE BACK! Thank you for liking the political bits! I've been putting them in the past couple of chapters because it'll be important as the story goes along :). We will definitely be seeing Neville! In fact, I have an entire chapter which got scrapped with him in it from when I was rewriting, so I'm going to use parts of it, we'll see him when she goes back to Hogwarts.
aurelia - I always get so happy when you say you find bits of this story funny, because they're always the bits I find hilarious as well! Hope the update hasn't taken too long, and I'm excited to know what you think of it! Also, I don't know if I mentioned it before, but Amelie was almost called Aurelie or Aurelia because my mum loves those names! (I changed it in the end because of an old favourite book of mine. :/)
Chapter Thirty-Five
We return to the house around nine, completely exhausted by the events of today. We were attacked by an owl on our way through the Atrium earlier, bearing a note asking us to have dinner at the Potters'.
It went well, with dinner being served almost as soon as we'd arrived as Teddy insisted we stopped off to buy some of Harry and Ginny's favourite ice cream on the way there to sweeten the announcement that they'd be making an informal appearance at the Marriage Registration Office early next week.
As we had found ourselves in Diagon Alley in the pursuit of said ice cream, he thought it was the perfect time to pick up the seventh year books I'll be needing when I get back to Hogwarts, and a few long scrolls of parchment... We also got Teddy some more broom varnish, tail-twig clippers, and spare international grade broom handles or something to replace the ones he had to fit onto his broom because of wear and tear on his last ones... That one took what seemed like an incredibly long time because they had to be custom made to fit his hands or feet or something.
I zoned out a little after a while, looking around the shop at all the brooms and accessories. Its so much more interesting when you look yourself and don't have to listen to the sales-wizard drone on and on about the benefits of one broom compass over another.
When we finally arrived, Harry was quite impressed by Teddy's idea about dazzling the witch with their fame. He was at least thankful that he had a definite excuse to visit, and made a note for himself to move it into his schedule at work.
Ginny wasn't quite so happy, grumbling about how she'd had an entire plan set up already, and that Harry was ruining her fun by agreeing to make it boring.
There were no arguments at the Potters' this time, only excited chatter as the meal wore on, with the imminent wedding and Lily's arrival adding something to up everyone's spirits. The food was lovely again, although when her children told Ginny that Harry's food was better than hers, she shut them down by saying that if she'd been made to live under somebody's stairs and cook for them for years, she'd be good at it too.
It took Lily leaning over to whisper to me about her father's upbringing for me to understand... The information about Harry being forced to live in such conditions shouldn't be funny, but when she complained about how she still has to go and see her 'Dull Uncle Dudley' even though she's not allowed to ask if he has a tail or not anymore, I couldn't hold it in any more and burst out laughing.
'We've just got to get through tomorrow.' I tell him, sighing as I unzip my boots and place them carefully in line with the shoes he toes off carelessly, pulling his jacket and tie off and throwing them over the banister.
'What d'you mean?' He asks, leading the way into the lounge where he hops over the sofa and settles into the cushions.
'My parents, and all the planning we've left for another day.' I tell him, stifling a yawn and examining his hand as he wraps his arm around my waist.
'Pssh, they love me! Its you they clearly don't like as much, and if its okay, I figure I'll sort all that wedding stuff out when you go back to school. We can owl about it.' His comment about my parents' affections earns him a small slap on the wrist, but he chuckles at me and squeezes my side in response.
'They probably do actually, I mean... You have blue hair-'
'Everything anyone should wish for in a son-in-law, clearly.' Teddy interjects.
'Clearly.' I reply, nodding and using the same matter-of-fact tone as him. 'And you'd really be okay with doing most of the organising on your own?'
'Of course. I'll take the job seriously, I promise, and it'll take some of the weight off you whilst you're settling in to seventh year. I'll check with you before anything of course,' he adds, nudging my cheek and making me look up into his eyes. 'As long as its okay with you that you'd be agreeing to most of the stuff sight unseen as they say?'
'I think I trust you in that regard, although... Maybe add descriptions when you're writing about things like venues and what not?' I add, remembering his conversation with James over dinner about their love of roller coasters and how awesome it would be to have a muggle theme park at your wedding.
'I will, I promise... But...'
'What?' I ask, wondering what he's going to say next.
'I warn you, I'll have to send you a few bouquets of flowers to look at whilst I'm at it.' He tells me, keeping eye contact as a small smile spreads across his face.
'Isn't there time to sort out the flowers when I get back in two weeks?' I ask, tilting my head as his smile takes on a more cheeky note.
'Of course there is! That's when we're going to do it. We're magical, you don't need to arrange things that early! That's one of the things I really don't understand about muggles... How they manage to wait so long for everything.'
'Then why would you need to send me flowers?' I ask. I'm completely confused now.
'Oh, they're just for wooing you.' He replies honestly. Wooing me-?
'Wooing me?' I laugh to cover the breathless thing my voice is doing and raise my eyebrows at him. 'I don't think anyone uses that term any more, Teddy.'
'They should.' He complains, before smiling at me again as he puffs his chest out proudly. 'The flowers will brighten up the halls of Hogwarts, and give you a reason to smile and boast about me being all romantic.'
'You know, when most people want their girlfriends to boast about them being romantic, they take them on a proper date instead of sending bouquets of flowers by owl.' I tell him, slipping the fact that we've not yet been on an actual date in rather nicely if I say so myself.
'You've obviously never been wooed properly then. And hmm... A proper date?' He asks, thoughtfully. 'You mean... Lunch on a mountain top in Wales... Dancing in Havana, dinner in Paris, dessert in London, cocktails in New York-'
'I was thinking dinner or something? But somewhere close to home? I don't want to make it too much bother.' I say, picking one of the options with a small blush.
'Oh no, you asked for a proper date. Therefore, you leave it to me to decide. So. If you have another Hogsmeade weekend coming up, owl me and we'll go early. We should be able to fit it all in before you have to get back to the castle. If you don't, we'll just have to wait until the day after you get back from school.'
'What d'you mean, fit it all- Teddy, we're not going to do all those things at once! That's like a world tour of dates!' I tell him in the same tone I use with Lily or my mum when either of them is planning something a little too dramatic.
'Oh yes we are. I've never done anything that romantic before, and as my future wife, you're subjected to my truly cheesy side whether you like it or not. Do you know if there'll be one? A trip that is?' When I shake my head, he gives me a look of disappointment. 'You'd think if you were able to see our kids, you'd be able to see a simple Hogsmeade trip.'
'It doesn't work like that you know,' I tell him, and get a laugh in response.
'WE'RE HOME!' James shouts as we hear the sound of the back door being opened and bags being dropped on the floor. James and Abigail had to sort a couple of last minute things out before they left the Potters', but as Teddy drove us back, it worked out well.
I hear the click of the kettle in the kitchen and some tell tale clinking before calling out a greeting as Teddy kisses my cheek and gets up to ask if they need help.
Teddy lent me his phone last night to call my parents when I remembered that I'd not actually told them we'd be popping in. They were so happy to know they'd see me that I felt horrible about not having visited sooner. They're able to work from home occasionally, so they warned us they'd be working during the late afternoon and evening to make up the time for us coming round.
James and Abigail are having a lie in and breakfast in bed, delivered specially by floo from a service, in order to hide from the fact that they'll be having to seperate tonight in order to avoid bad luck over their wedding tomorrow.
Teddy and I are therefore planning on leaving for my house early rather than stick around to hear anything awkward... Teddy yelled at them through the door about not doing anything in his house last night before he went to sleep, and got giggles as a response. He told me that's not a good sign, and that unfortunately his house is not Hogwarts, so he can't make them sleep apart not that they're living together anyway and nearly married.
'How do I look?' Teddy asks me, smiling as he leans his shoulder against the door frame, hair falling into his eyes as a single drop of water detaches itself from his still wet hair and drips onto his cheek.
'I'm never going to understand your ability to walk around with wet hair when you're a wizard.' I tell him, shaking my head.
He replies by letting out a short laugh as he puts his head down and shakes his dark hair, flinging water all around the entrance to my room.
'Urg, Ted! Use a towel!' Frowning, but biting my cheek to avoid smiling at his antics, I throw him a towel from the clean set he'd brought me earlier. I like the fact that he feels comfortable enough to have his eyes grey/silver and his hair black when he knows only I'm around.
I immediately regret giving him a towel when he flicks his head back up and half smiles as he takes my advice, running the towel through his hair and looking at me from beneath his eyelashes as if he's modelling, rather than standing in my doorway drying his hair.
'What?' He asks me, his smile widening as he stares at me knowingly. When I narrow my eyes in response, he laughs again and then takes a couple of steps into the room. The first time he's been in here whilst I've been staying, and his expression grows serious as he crosses his arms, abandoning the towel. 'What're we going to tell your parents, Am?'
'About what?' I ask, turning slightly away from him in order to rearrange some things inside my bag on the table.
'About the visions? Or the stuff we've learned about the law? Or...'
'Nothing.' I reply, taking a deep breath as I drop the book I was trying to steal without him noticing and look at him in the eye.
'Nothing? But... Well, we'll have to tell them about the new restrictions of the law, surely?' This question is accompanied by a sigh, and Teddy picks up the book and drops it in my bag without batting an eyelid.
'Must we? I mean... They know we're getting married, so it would be logical to live together, and... Well... I suppose if we told them that I would be staying in another room, but...'
'You don't want to worry them just yet.' Teddy says, his eyes slightly sad as he looks down at me and tucks a curl behind my ear.
'Even if they're pretending to be okay with things, they'll worry... I just don't want to tell them before the wedding. We can tell them when I'm Mrs Lupin? Besides, Mr Potter's going to look into it and everything, and we'll-' Teddy stops me from rambling on any more by kissing me soundly. 'What was that for?' I ask, completely breathlessly when he pulls back a moment later.
'Mrs Lupin just has that kind of ring to it I guess,' he tells me huskily, grinning as he looks down at his chest to where I braced my hands against his chest during the kiss. I follow his eye line to see my ring turn from a deep intensely pure ruby, to sapphire.
'The sapphire is my favourite of all the rings.' I tell him slowly, catching his gaze to show him the truth in my eyes.
'You might like everything about it, but... Your heart still has a choice to make.' He replies quietly before leaning down to kiss me again. Wow.
I have a feeling he wasn't talking exclusively about the ring... But then that might just be wishful thinking because of the kiss.
'Ted?' I ask, pulling back as I register an uncomfortable sensation on my face. 'You're dripping on me.'
'I can't believe you didn't tell us you were home from school, Amelie!' Mum tells me as she brings fresh mugs of tea into the lounge, popping them down on the coffee table with a thunk and settling on the sofa next to me. I broke my own rule about not worrying my parents by telling them anything the moment Dad took Teddy down to the shop to get some more milk and nibbles.
'I know, bu-' I at least managed not to mention the visions I've been having. Those are something I'll have to work out on my own, and there's really no need to be confusing her about whether seers were real or not. Most of them are still fakes these days, even though a few are actually gifted with the odd vision.
'And that you'll be leaving school a year early!? And living with him after you're married!?' She looks at me as if I'm crazy for a few moments before breaking out into laughter. 'Oh sweetie, don't look so scared! Its okay! If there's anyone who'd understand getting married young, its me... And I don't think many people could ever complain about their daughter being married before she lives with someone... I just wish you'd come to see us sooner so I could smush you and never let you go.'
'Not gonna lie, Mum, that's one of the reasons I didn't.' I tell her as she pulls me down until my head rests on her shoulder as I recline on the sofa. 'Are you really okay with this, or just saying you are?'
'I... I can't pretend to be okay with it when I'm not... But... Lord, Ames, I married your Dad when I was still at school, even though it was only a formality of waiting for my A Level results, so I can't say anything about that one, can I? Now if we're talking about you having to marry him because of some law, then believe me when I say that I'd love to march up to that Ministry and punch someone... But that doesn't do anything to help the situation, does it?'
'No... But... You like him right?' I ask, knowing that that's the real question I have to ask. Some part of me thinks that maybe its because I'm so young that I'm not dwelling as much as I should on how I feel about being forced into the marriage or any of the anger or sadness which many others have, but then another part asks whether I'm just at the acceptance stage already. I mean, if there's no way we're going to get out of this, and there doesn't look like there is, then I should be getting on with forging a life with him shouldn't-?
'I do. He's a lovely, intelligent, handsome young man, and I think he plans on making you very happy for the rest of your lives.' She tells me, leaning back to look me in the eye as she gives me a look tinged with both sadness and hope. The sort of look she gives me or Dad whenever there's a large decision to be made or something's happened that'll change our lives.
'You mean for the rest of the time our lives are governed by the law?' I ask, and her expression immediately turns to mocking.
'If you think that, then you've definitely got your brains from your father.' She replies, before leaning her head on top of mine with a sigh. There's no point asking what she means because she tends to let me work things like that out on my own. The fact that I already know we'll be together for a lot longer than the requirements makes me blush, and I'm glad she isn't looking at me to see it. I know he'll be happy... Or at least pretend to be so later on in our lives, but I don't think he cares for me like that now.
'Do you think anyone will come to the wedding if we ask them?'
'From the family you mean?' She asks, stroking the back of my hair gently. I look up at an odd angle, to see her frowning thoughtfully as she continues to play with my hair. 'I'm not sure, Ames... I want to say yes, but... You know how they reacted when we eloped and had you. Not so much as a birthday card in the past eighteen, almost nineteen years. I want to tell you not to invite them at all, but I know its your choi-'
'No, I mean the real family. Yours and Dad's friends.' I tell her, sitting up properly again and turning to cross my legs, facing her head on. She mirrors my position, and it reminds me of the times we would spend sitting in blanket forts when I was little as she read me stories.
'Ah, you really are the sweetest person in the world. Where'd you get that from eh? Certainly not from either of us! And... Hmm, well I think most of them will come, yes. As long as we tell them with as much notice as possible. Dad and I've been letting the news get around that you're engaged so that it doesn't come as a shock, but that actually reminds me that we need to talk to you about one snag to do with this...'
'What snag mum?'
'Well... We didn't want to tell them the entire situation, you know, as they're muggles and all-'
'Mum, you're a muggle too!' I tell her, rolling my eyes at her with a grin.
'Yes, but we don't mention that!' She laughs, before tapping my leg and continuing on in a rush as she jumps up from the sofa to go and answer the door. 'So, we told them all that Teddy's-only-twenty-one-and-that-you've-been-going-out-for-a-while-and-met-at-school-through-Lily!' She runs out of breath and ducks when the pillow next to me suddenly throws itself across the room at her head.
By that, I mean I throw it at her head, but she just giggles manically as she evades the other pillows flying in her direction and dives for the front door as I run after her.
'Henry! Tell your daughter to stop throwing things at me! She's trying to attack me for helping her out with our friends-' I break across her as we begin to tussle over the space in front of the now open front door, pushing each other back.
'That's because you've been telling everyone we've been together for ages and lying about Teddy's age!' I tell him, my voice strained from the physical effort of holding her back.
'Well... Welcome to the family is all I can say, Teddy. I feel very sorry for you, and I hope you're ready to have those women as your wife and mother-in-law.' Dad tells him with a sigh, unable to hide the amusement in his eyes even though his face and tone let nothing go as Teddy stares at us in shock. 'And in case you hadn't noticed, Ace's a lot louder and crazier when she's at home than anywhere else.'
'Is this what muggle people usually do?' Teddy asks, finally taking his eyes off us to stare at Dad as we give up the fight and let them in.
'Muggle people? No. Normal people? Nah. Sane people? Definitely not. These people? Way too much...'
'That's a lie, don't listen to him! We're rarely crazy, usually weird, but always awesome. Why else would we have been married for so long?' Mum complains as we each go to grab a bag from them to carry into the kitchen. When I try to get Teddy's, he holds it above his head until I give up the attempts.
'I was forced to?' Dad asks in a dry tone whilst giving us a long suffering look. As soon as they enter the kitchen, we hear their laughter followed by jokes about who's suffering more in this marriage.
'Don't worry about that, its just one of the weird things they do. Listen properly and you'll hear them comparing who has to make tea more and stuff and comparing that with which one of them hogged the covers the other day. The important thing is that we've got time to talk now. Are you okay?' I ask Teddy, pulling him back by the stairs, not letting go of his arm when I get him there. 'Was Dad okay? I mean... You know?'
'I'm not sure why, but that's actually incredibly sweet. Your dad was really nice, and I think you worry about them too much. It turns out they've got it sorted so that their muggle friends can come, an-' he tells me, smiling gently. He jumps slightly when I speak across him, and I realise I'm digging my nails into his bicep.
'I know that, I mean was he okay? Do you like him? Does he like you?' I whisper urgently, deciding not to mention how rock hard his arm is.
'Does it really matter that much to you?' He asks, an odd look on his face as I release his arm and fiddle with my cardigan instead, my eyes darting around his face nervously.
'Yes...'
'Well then,' he says gently, taking a step forwards and placing a hand on my arm. 'I like him, and he likes me, so everything'll be okay. Oop, no, no hugs. We're not allowed to touch or he'll come murder me.' He adds, jumping away with his eyes wide when I raise my arms.
'Did Amelie ever tell you about her first train ride to Hogwarts?' Mum asks Teddy as we sit around the table for a late lunch. Mum and I cooked a roast dinner whilst Teddy filled Dad in about how his Quidditch teams were going and the two of them made almost constant attempts to offer us help.
'No, she hasn't,' Teddy replies, giving me a smile which I'm sure is meant to be encouragingly hopeful. Only... He doesn't know where this is probably going, and I do... Merlin, please don't let this get out.
'Oh, really?' Mum asks, with an evil grin. Please, please, please, please, please- 'well! She was so nervous, shaking like an adorable little leaf and constantly giving us cuddles and kisses, until we had said goodbye to her so that she could hop on and get a seat in time, right? Well! From what we read in her letters afterwards, she got on and didn't know where to go, until he got ran into by your brother, James? Yes, James, and then Amelie got saved from her embarrassment by a... What was it Henry?'
'A ridiculously good looking guy who looked like a model and she thought she might now have a crush on.' Dad says, earning him a grateful look from Mum and the sight of me pushing my plate forwards and ducking my head.
'Please don't Mum!' I ask, nay, plead with her, looking up at her as she sits diagonally across from me with Teddy to her right, immediately in front of me. 'Please?'
'Oh, its not that bad Ames!' Dad complains, already chuckling next to me as he knows how this story is going to play out.
'So whoever saved her that day was her first crush?' Teddy asks, giving me an apologetic look as he asks, sounding extremely interested in the subject of the conversation.
'Yes! He tripped over her too, but then he apologised and introduced her to a couple of boys, who became her friends, and helped her with the trunk so that she didn't have to lug it around, before tearing off after your brother again!' Mum continues, ignoring my now frantic waving in her direction and the ever so threatening waves of my wand. She knows I would never hurt her though, so she just ignores me completely and carries on embarrassing me to the point of blushing.
They're all laughing about something mum's saying in her long winded explanation of the awkward nature of my first letters at Hogwarts. The more she talks about the times I'd seen Teddy at the train station, or the time we saw him in Diagon Alley and I hid just in case he looked around, the worse I feel.
'-but of course we never got a properly good look at him, and then she met Lily and became friends with her and immediately went off him! She told us that it was a silly and childish crush, and that she didn't want to have anything weird about her friendship with Lily, and made us promise that we'd never mention it!'
'Who was the guy?' Teddy asks, looking between us all with real interest lighting up his eyes. What he doesn't know, because they don't know, is that I didn't actually fancy him. I never saw him again after that day, I just pretended that I did because it filled up parchment, and the space where I would otherwise have been required to tell them about all the friends I didn't have at Hogwarts.
I did think he was good looking, but I was also eleven for goodness sake! When I met Lily, and had someone other than Lorcan and Lysander to spend time with, it felt weird to be pretending that I fancied someone for no reason other than to make Mum laugh and Dad tell me I was far too young to be fawning over anyone, let alone someone older than me.
'You.' I tell him, not quite making eye contact as I blush and Mum laughs. Not unkindly, just in the sort of way that a mum would laugh when their child does something funny.
'You fancied me?' Teddy asks, eyes widening as he stares at me.
'I... I'll talk to you about it later?' I ask hopefully, getting a confused nod in response. The thoughtful smile on his face grows as I watch from my peripheral vision, and I can't help but wonder what he's thinking. Its obvious that he really hadn't heard anything being said at the Leaky Cauldron and that James had kept quiet about it all, so that's one thing to add to the list of reasons why James is annoying but awesomely loyal.
'So...' Dad says after a while of nothing but the clink of cutlery on plates and appreciative chewing. I might not be as good a cook as Teddy yet, but I've always been told I'm a natural, something I think I inherited from mum and her love of good food. 'You know when you'll get married?'
'Uh... 27th of December Dad,' I tell him, getting a squeal from Mum when I do. She hugs me tightly from the side, and seems to forget about the rest of her food as she begins to chat about how she's glad its not as soon as she's feared. 'Its almost at the end of the time we're allowed,' I tell her when she asks if we can't postpone it for a little while later.
Dad tries to sneak Mum's second Yorkshire pudding off her plate whilst she's not looking, and I notice Teddy trying to listen to what she's saying whilst he watches the progress of the theft out of the corner of his eye.
'Oh, of course...' She murmurs, obviously thinking about things. 'Okay, well. If you're going back to school on Sunday, and you've got a wedding to go to tomorrow, maybe... If you'd like to, you could get the addresses of family friends from us so you could send the invitations?' The you she talks about at the end is Teddy, turning to look at him with a hopeful smile as she grabs her fork and nabs the Yorkshire pud back before Dad can eat it.
'I think,' Teddy says quickly, 'that that sounds lovely. Although I reckon we should be able to do one better than that, if you'd be willing to visit or be visited by Harry and Ginny. We could all sort out the addresses and everything together and send them off after Amelie and I get a list together and the invitations sorted?'
I know from a logistical point of view that the actual sending of the invitations wouldn't involve me, but I also know that Teddy meant it when he said he would keep me in the loop all the time, and it would mean that they'd get to know each other better before the wedding.
'That sounds wonderful Teddy,' Dad tells him, his eyes crinkling as a full grin develops on his face.. Although, whether that's in response to Teddy's idea, or the replenishing charm I used on his plate to give him a couple more Yorkshires, I will never know.
'So, I was your first crush? As much as I'd like to be flattered,... Somehow that doesn't make sense to me...' Teddy tells me, charming his gears so that they change themselves as he steers and controls the speed, allowing him one free hand to hold mine.
'Probably because you weren't?' I ask him, grimacing at him as he flicks me a glance in the rear view mirror.
'Then why did you tell your parents that I was?' He responds, a half smile gracing his face as he continues to concentrate on the road ahead rather than my facial expressions.
'Because... Because it was easier than telling them I only had a couple of friends...' I tell him, sighing. Its not upsetting me, its just an awkward thing to tell someone. 'And besides, how did you know that you weren't?'
'Ah, that would be due to the fact that I used to avoid Diagon Alley in school holidays like the plague, so there's no way you would have seen me there, and I only visited the train station once more after the time I met you, when I was helping to wave Lily off to first year.'
'Huh. So you saw through the lie immediately?' I laugh, turning slightly in my seat so that my head leans sideways to look at him properly, in order to ask him the question that's been bothering me ever since he heard the story earlier. 'Do you remember me from that day, then?'
'Which day?' He asks, frowning in confusion as he uses his indicator to signal his move into another lane. 'You mean when I helped you with your trunk?'
'Yeah.'
'I'm not sure... I vaguely remember tripping over someone and carrying their trunk into the compartment with Luna's kids in it... I can only remember one thing properly about that day, because it wasn't quite as significant for me as say James, Albus, or Lily's first trips, or my first and last ones...
'It sounds stupid, but I can remember that with the steam from the train, Fleur thought for a minute that she saw a male Veela or something with his daughter. That's why James was running, to try and find the girl. I was chasing him because you can't call dibs on a person just because they're part-Veela or whatever, but then we ended up tripping over you and your trunk, and by the time I'd caught up with him he'd searched the whole place and hadn't found anyone.'
'What made Mrs Weasley think it was a Veela?' I ask, genuinely interested about who she could have seen. Thinking back, I can't remember anyone ever coming to the school apart from Victorie, Louis, or Dominique who even vaguely resembled one.
'Oh, she said it was as if they were glowing. I think she said the girl had platinum blonde hair or lighter, pale skin, but red lips. That's all she could see of the girl through the fog, but her dad was quite pale toned as well, so she just jumped to the conclusion. We figure she just saw someone and made a mistake though, the light was weird that year, so it could've been Draco saying bye to Scorp for all we know!' He lapses into silence as I ponder what he's just told me.
'I think today went well though, don't you?' Teddy asks, and I nod, making a hum in response. I'm mentally cataloging everyone who might even vaguely fit the description Fleur gave them, but I'm coming up short.
'Yeah, it went well.' I tell him, and judging by the look on his face when I finally speak, its been more than the acceptable answering time.
'Did you not hear what I just said?'
'I'm sorry,' I say, making an awkward face at him. 'I'm listening now?' Teddy thankfully smiles at me and rolls his eyes before repeating himself.
'I said that we'll have to get some clothes together for you and then floo over to Abi and James' place. In case you forgot, you're a bridesmaid, so you're staying with Abi tonight whilst I'm going to Harry and Ginny's with James, as his best man.'
'I'm sorry,' I tell him with a gasp. 'You're staying with James tonight why?'
'Because I'm his best man?' Teddy asks me, suppressing a smile. 'Did I not mention that before?'
'That you were his best man? Not for... At least three hours! I almost missed it when you told Mum and Dad, you only repeated it twice...' I say, almost giggling at him.
'Ah, well then its about time I reminded you. I'm his best man.'
