After learning the password that was leading to Dumbledore's office from Harry and exchanging a few words with Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, who were running to the hospital wing to see their son, Calliope ran as fast as the wind to the magical staircase, which started moving once she uttered the password. She ran up the stairs and knocked on the door, taking deep breaths to calm down.

'Come in' Dumbledore said calmly.

As a student, Calliope never had the opportunity to see the Headmaster's office and therefore she was stunned by its sight. It was huge, with stairs and a view on the night sky, with wardrobes and shelves all around the room, filled with interesting magical objects. On a free space was a beautiful bird with scarlet feathers that was staring at her- Fawkes, the phoenix, who left a few singing tunes when he spotted her.

'Welcome, Miss Bowden' Dumbledore greeted her, reminding her of the reason she was here.

'Professor Dumbledore' she greeted him back and inclined her head. 'I am sorry for the disturbance, but I had to see you'

'You do not disturb me at all, especially on the specific circumstances' Dumbledore assured her. 'I presume you wish to share with me news for Mr. Weasley?'

'He has to stay in the hospital wing for a week or so, but his life isn't in danger. However, I want to talk to you about something else of great importance, that concerns you'

Dumbledore invited her to sit and Calliope folded her hands on her skirt, feeling scared and nervous. How would she find the proper words to warn the Headmaster that one of his students planned to kill him on Voldemort's behalf? She had clues enough to prove that, but maybe he wouldn't believe her or he would give her other clues that Malfoy was innocent.

'Do not be afraid to share your thoughts with me, Miss Bowden, no matter what it is about. Fear is someone's biggest obstacle and you should have the courage to defend your opinions'

'Alright, then' the young trainee sighed. 'For a while now and with the help of three friends, I've been investigating the circumstances behind Katie Bell's attack. It is obvious that Katie herself wasn't the intended victim, since she had orders to deliver the cursed necklace to Hogwarts. So, someone else was it, someone the attacker, the Death Eaters and Voldemort hate'

'It is a logical thought' Dumbledore nodded and Calliope was relieved to see that he was listening carefully to her.

'First we thought that the attacker is behind Harry, but today I realized that it can't be, otherwise Katie would give him the necklace before arriving at Hogwarts. So, we're afraid that…that…'

'That I am the possible victim, am I correct?'

Calliope's face reddened and she lowered her head. One part was over, but now she had to tell him about Malfoy, although she didn't have the slightest idea how. She wasn't even sure if the Headmaster, who was known to give everyone a second chance, would believe her.

'Yes, Headmaster, that is exactly what I am thinking. I know that it sounds crazy to you, but we have proof and…and after the accidental attack against Ron, I am afraid that the culprit is getting near. And now I said "culprit"' Calliope sighed deeply, wondering how she had gotten herself into all this mess 'I must tell you that my friends and I have a fairly good idea about who he is. It is…It is Draco Malfoy, sir'

Deep silence followed her statement, interrupted only by the soft sounds Fawkes was leaving, the monotone tick-tock of a clock and Calliope's heart, which was beating like a clock. The young trainee healer knew that she sounded too direct and that she had to prove what she had just said, but, suddenly, her voice seemed stuck inside her. Speaking her suspicions aloud in front of the man who was Voldmort's target made everything more real. She knew, though, that she had to go on and so she mustered all her courage to continue.

'It was Malfoy who purchased the cursed necklace from Borgin and Burke's, which means that he's direct connected with Katie being in St. Mungo's right now. And I am sure that the same person is behind the two attacks, meaning that he is after you. Besides, my friends and I have serious reasons to believe that Snape is assisting him'

'Professor Snape, Calliope, is a member of the Order of the Phoenix just like you are' Dumbledore disagreed, without losing his gentle tone, as if he was a grandfather tutoring his disobedient granddaughter. 'He is loyal to our purpose and is providing the Order with valuable information that no one else is able to provide'

'Then…Then why did he offer Malfoy his help on his mission?' Calliope asked him and now her voice had a trace of fear. 'And he was not only pretending to be on his side, he was on his side, I am sure of it. Not to mention that Snape used to be a Death Eater before. Please, Headmaster, please, do something, it is your life we are talking about!'

Dumbledore cracked a small smile that confused Calliope even more. Did she just tell a very entertaining joke and she did not remember? She had just revealed a great conspiracy that, if it succeeded, it would lead to Dumbledore's death and put Hogwarts and its residents in grave danger.

'You know, Calliope, you and Harry share more opinions than you think, which is understandable, considering your common hatred for the dark side' he told her. 'Not long ago, Harry told me that he was suspecting Draco Malfoy and Professor Snape of evil actions, although he did not mention anything about a threat against my life. I appreciate your concern, but I will comfort you with the same words I comforted Harry. I am convinced that Professor Snape, despite his past, has regretted for his previous actions and now supports the Order with all his strength…and I doubt that Voldemort would trust a young student with a mission, while he has so many experienced supporters by his side'

Calliope's hopes came crushing down in a sudden, as she tried to stay calm and not start crying. She admired Dumbledore for his tendency to trust people and always give second chances, but she had thought she would achieve something from their conversation; an inquiry, perhaps, from the Headmaster, in order to find out himself what was going on. But, despite the kindness he showed towards her and his complete lack of anger, nothing good had come of this. Understanding that nothing would change his mind and not wanting to disrespect the old wizard or sound rude, she decided to leave it be for the moment and continue her secret work with Oliver, Elaine and Phoebe. And so, after wishing him good night and receiving his gratitude for saving Ron, she stood up to leave, but only then did she notice that the man's right hand was all black and seemed rotten.

'Professor Dumbledore?' she stuttered and cold shivers ran down her spine. 'What's…What's wrong with your hand, sir? Shall I look at it?'

'Oh no, my dear, it is nothing' he answered smiling. 'All battles leave their scars and the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and my duel against Voldemort apparently had a great influence on an old man. It should not be of any concern to you'

She wanted to insist, but, suddenly, Dumbledore was giving the impression that he wanted to stay alone. And so she wished him goodnight and went back to the hospital wing, where only the Weasleys and Lexi were gathered around Ron's bed, Hagrid, Harry and Hermione gone. Ron was sleeping calmly and his mother was caressing his forehead gently, trying to soothe him and keep the nightmares away.

'Did anything happen while I was away?' Calliope asked, approaching them.

'No, nothing' Lexi informed her, smiling, but with her dark grey eyes holding anger. 'He will sleep peacefully for the rest of the night. How did the conversation with Dumbledore go?'

Awful, Calliope wanted to answer, but she forced a smile to not worry her friend. She hadn't said anything to Lexi about their investigations, both out of fear that she would do something reckless and to not put her in even more danger. Lexi was an active member of the Order, she was tending to Katie Bell herself after the attack, in the hospital she could listen to many useful things and she was friends with a Muggle-born witch. There was no need to get involved in more trouble.

'Well, we…we didn't say anything important' Calliope said in the end. 'We basically spoke about Ron's condition and how things are going here in school, you know, with two attacks and worried parents…'

'And it seems that we were right to be worried' Mrs. Weasley added, still not drawing her eyes away from her youngest son. 'When we were informed about the poisoning…I know that our family is despised by many, especially those who support You-Know-Who, but who could hate Ron so much…'

'We don't think Ron was the intended victim, Mum' Fred informed her and sneaked a glance towards George, Calliope and Lexi, who all nodded. 'Someone else was supposed to drink the poisoned mead and die, but Ron was at the wrong place in the wrong time…'

'At least he will be fine' Ginny tried to console her mother and stroke her back. 'He'll be fine, Mum, and in a week he will get out of here and make my life difficult again'

Mrs. Weasley left an unwilling chuckle at the girl's words and Calliope felt even more guilty that she couldn't do something more to show Dumbledore that he was endangered. She needed to do something, but she didn't know what. She definitely had to talk with the others, to see if they had any ideas about how they should proceed.

'Excuse me, but I have to go, I am sure Oliver is waiting for news' she quickly said. 'If there is anything you need, just send me a message'

'Thank you, Calliope, for everything' Mrs. Weasley whispered and gave her a motherly hug. 'Be careful'

'I will, Mrs. Weasley, and I wish Ron a quick recovery'

'Oh, Callie, before I forget it, can you contact Benjy and tell him that I'm okay and that I'll stay for one more hour?' Lexi asked.

'Of course, Lex'

She hugged Lexi and Ginny, patted the twins on the shoulder, nodded towards their parents and left with a quick step. After another argument with Filch, who wanted to search her in case she wanted to smuggle something dark out of the school, she ran to Hogsmeade, from where she was able to disapparate. She landed right outside Oliver's house and rushed the stairs up to the floor his apartment was, too impatient to wait for the elevator.

'Ollie, I'm back!' she called out the second she closed the door.

'Calliope! Thank God, you're fine!' Oliver sighed with relief and hugged her tightly. 'I was so worried, making scenarios with my mind about traps, attacks…'

'I'm alright…I'm alright' she hid her head in his shoulder, wanting to feel his warmth and his comfort.

'How is Ron?' Oliver wanted to know concerned and, as he pulled away, he noticed Calliope's upset expression and stared at her. 'Callie? Are there…Are there bad news? Is he…'

'Ron will be fine, don't be afraid. He has to stay in the hospital wing for a week, but he will be fine. Harry saved his life, putting a bezoar in his mouth. But…There are bad news' she frowned. 'Oliver, I realized something horrible!'

'What did you realize? Calliope, please, calm down and tell me everything…Maybe I can help you'

They sat down and Calliope narrated the discussion in the hospital wing, about what could be behind Ron's poisoning, about how she had jumped to the conclusion that the attacker's target was Dumbledore and about the latter's refusal to believe that Snape or Malfoy had anything to do with all this. When she finished, all color was drained from Oliver's face and his hand grabbed hers so tightly, that she winced in pain.

'I can not believe this' he hissed. 'Dumbledore being Voldemort's target…Two attacks unsuccessful, but both out of luck and poor planning…The threat is within the castle, but he doesn't see it…'

'What are we gonna do now, Oliver?' Calliope could no longer prevent the tears from running down her face. 'I'm so scared…for Dumbledore's life…for Harry…for all of us…I feel so useless…'

'Shh…Don't say that again' Oliver placed his head on hers, caressing her hair. 'We have to be calm to sort things out…We will think about something, I promise. We won't leave Hogwarts at their mercy, I swear. And you are not alone in all this…Please, calm down'

He kissed her to console her, to express his love for her, to show her that he would never leave her; and Calliope's tension disappeared immediately, as always when they were together, because she knew that love was the greatest feeling and Voldemort's greatest fear, meaning that it would be his undoing. Their moment, though, was interrupted by a loud banging on the door, making them jump on their feet and Calliope to draw out her wand.

'Don't worry, it's probably Benjy, we've been visiting each other every twenty minutes for the past hours, asking if there are any news' Oliver informed her chuckling, before becoming serious again. 'Although, it won't harm us to check it'

With these words, he moved towards the door, pointing his wand at it and with such a menacing look, as if the Slytherin Quidditch team was behind the door.

'State your name and business!' he commanded angrily.

'Seriously, Wood, even if you had amnesia, you would remember my voice by now…it has to be the millionth time I am coming' stated a voice, which Calliope truly recognized as Benjy's.

'That door won't open unless you state your name and business' Oliver insisted. 'I won't risk our lives without reason'

'Okay, okay, relax' the visitor sighed. 'I am Benjy Williams, we're teammates in Puddlemere United, I am a couple with Alexis Stone, more known as Lexi, who's best friends and colleagues with your girlfriend, Calliope Bowden, and the two of them had gone to Hogwarts School to tend to Ron Weasley and I'm totally freaking out'

'As if I was the embodiment of calmness all these hours' Oliver scoffed quietly as he opened the door, allowing a very anxious Benjy to enter the apartment. This anxiety, though, was forgotten when he saw Calliope.

'Calliope, when did you return?' he asked her. 'Lexi hasn't come home yet, I'm almost sick, I have no idea what the hell is going on…Wait, did anything happen?'

'Relax, Benjy, please, nothing happened. Lexi is fine. She will only stay in Hogwarts for one more hour and then she'll come home' Calliope explained. 'Ron went through a bad adventure today and, although he will be fine, she wanted to be sure before leaving'

'So…you weren't attacked or something like that? By Death Eaters or Dementors or…'

'Seriously, I thought you trusted her more, mate' Oliver smiled. 'Lexi knows perfectly well how to defend herself, so, even if something had happened, she would be safe'

'Yeah, sure, but I can't help but care for her well-being'

'I understand that' Calliope nodded. 'But I'm telling you the truth, Benjy. We're all fine, Ron, thank God, got over the poisoning, so…'

Before she could finish her sentence, the entire apartment was illuminated by bright green flames in the fireplace and the three of them knelt in front of it. A face appeared in the middle of the fire and Calliope recognized the regular Healer from Lexi's department in St. Mungo's hospital.

'Healer Jordan' she greeted him surprised. 'I did not expect you to communicate'

'Yes, well, I was searching for Miss Stone, but I can not find her in her home. Do you know where she is?'

'Sorry, but you can not reach her right now. We had an emergency case in Hogwarts School and Lexi is still there' Calliope told him without further detail. 'You can speak to me, though, and I can pass the message to her'

'Oh, I guess I can do that, since it has to do with you too' Healer Jordan smiled widely. 'Katie Bell has finally awoken!'

A/N: Okay, everybody, that was it for now, hope you enjoyed it :) Can not wait for your reviews and the next chapter will be up soon (let's hope that I won't get hit by the Writer's Block Spell again)
