Chapter 34: The Confederation Center

They got to the Confederation Center of the Arts in time to see a grade-school class finishing a play.

"Isn't school out?" Sebastian asked Bridgette.

"It's not a school silly, It's a camp." she shrugged. "They're improving. I catch them practising when I come down to the library." she admitted.

"The library is near here?" Kurt asked.

He wanted to read up a bit more about the island and truthfully he preferred books to the internet. Sure, he loved the computer, but there was something about paper that he liked more.

"Right over there." Bridgette says pointing in the direction they were walking. "We'll go past it on our way. We are currently in the center of the town, and the whole island almost. The Center is on the opposite side. Well, the entrance anyway." she announced.

Nick and Jeff looked way too excited. Jeff saw a sign talking about tours that were given he pointed it out to Nick.

"Oh, no no no." Bridgette said shaking her head. "Look, this island is small and boring enough. You don't need some boring teenager telling you stories even they don't care about." she informed them. I know it seems interesting but it's really not. After we're done at the Confed Center I wanna take you all to a special place." she smiled.

"Sure, Bridge. Anything you want." he assured her.

"Great." she said as she opened the door to the Confed Center.

They walked through the halls. Looking at all the amazing art. There were portraits, paintings, landscapes, pictures, beads hanging from the ceiling, and even a video of a house sinking in the ocean.

"What's up with the weird house?" Nick asked.

"Abstract art." she shrugged. "I think the artist was trying to symbolize how alone he feels, and how he's sinking in society in these days." she thought aloud.

"I think the artist was trying to symbolize a house sinking in the ocean." Sebastian joked.

Kurt hit his arm, annoyed.

Suddenly Kurt's phone rang. Luckily for them they were the only ones there besides a couple on the other side of the large room.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hey, Kurt. how's you trip?" came a sweet voice.

"Emma, hey. My trip is going good we're looking at some art with Sebastian's cousin. How are you, Dad and Carole?" he asked.

"Dad and Carole are great. I'm good... do you know a Sam Evans by any chance?" she asked suddenly.

"Uh, yeah, he's a friend. Why?" Kurt said surprised.

"He asked me out." Sh informed him.

"He WHAT?" Kurt screamed

"Calm down, Kurt," she said, irritated, "I thought you said you were friends. Yeah, we are. Really good friends. But, I don't need him dating my sister." he said upset.

"Too bad it's my decision, I just wanted to know if you knew him." she told him.

"What did you say?" he asked.

"I said yes, we're meeting up Saturday." she informed him.

"Oh god, just please be nice." Kurt pleaded.

"I'm always nice," she argued.

"Please." Kurt repeated.

"Fine, look I gotta go. I love you, bye." she said.

"Bye." he hung up.

"What was that about?" Sebastian asked.

"Emma's going on a date with Sam?" he said, still in shock.

"Your blond friend?" Sebastian asked, uninterested.

"Yes," he nodded, "but I can't do anything about it. I just hope they're nice to each other." he says hopefully.

They continues through the gallery. When they went back out the way they came in they saw a band on a small stage. They were preforming.

"Who're they?" Jeff asked.

"No idea. People just perform. They sing what they want when they want. Or they play an instrument, whatever they want." she shrugged.

"And, they don't have to schedule it?" Kurt asked, a glint in his eyes.

"They're not professional..." she was saying.

"Baby, what are you thinking?" Sebastian asked, suddenly very excited.

"Well, they're packing up," he pointed to the band. And I wouldn't want to leave that lovely restaurant without any entertainment," he said suggestively.

"What song?" Nick asked.

"How do you guys feel about Drunk On You?" he asked.

"Kurt, I will warn you, country may be a deal breaker for us," he joked.

"Me and Nick love that song," he spoke for his friend.

"Great," Kurt stuck his nose up. "You singing with us Bridgette?" he asked.

"I can't sing," she laughed, "I'll watch though." she smiled.

"Come on then," Kurt said pulling Sebastian wit him to the stage.

Kurt began to sing the first lines of the song into the mic. He got a few weird looks because no one recognized them.

Cottonwood fallin' like snow in July

Sunset, riverside, 4 wheel drives

In a tail light circle

Roll down the windows, turn it on up

Pour a little crown in a dixie cup

Get the party started

Sebastian shook his head at his crazy boyfriend. He looked at the passersby and they all seemed to be enjoying it. He grabbed a separate mic and started to belt in out with his boyfriend.

Boy, you make my speakers go boom boom

Dancin' on the tailgate in a full moon

That kinda thing makes a man go mmm hmmm

You're lookin' so good in what's left of those blue jeans

Drip of honey on the money make her gotta be

The best buzz I'm ever gonna find

Hey, I'm a little drunk on you

And high on summertime

If you ain't a 10 you're a 9.9

Tippin' n' spillin' that home-made wine

On your tied up T-shirt

Every little kiss is drivin' me wild

Throwin' little cherry bombs into my fire

Good god almighty

Nick and Jeff were getting ready to jump in with the boys. They grabbed they're mics and waited for their cue.

Boy, you make my speakers go boom boom

Dancin' on the tailgate in a full moon

That kinda thing makes a man go mmm hmmm

You're lookin' so good in what's left of those blue jeans

Drip of honey on the money make her gotta be

The best buzz I'm ever gonna find

Hey, I'm a little drunk on you

And high on summertime

Let's slip on out where it's a little bit darker

And when it gets a little bit hotter

We'll take it off on out in the water

Kurt looked over at Jeff and Nick. They looked a little caught up in the song. He nudged Sebastian so he would stop singing.

Neither of the two boys noticed they were the only ones singing. They just kept singing, losing themselves in each others eyes.

Boy, you make my speakers go boom boom

Dancin' on the tailgate in a full moon

That kinda thing makes a man go mmm hmmm

You're lookin' so good in what's left of those blue jeans

Drip of honey on the money make her gotta be

The best buzz I'm ever gonna find

Hey, I'm a little drunk on you

And high on summertime

Yeah, I'm a little drunk on you

At the end of the song there was a huge applause and Nick and Jeff ended up kissing. Center stage. A few people at the restaurant started to whistle. One guy yelled, "get some", that's when Jeff got embarrassed and pulled back. Nick was beaming. So happy that him and Jeff were getting back to normal. He was so happy.

"That was awesome." Jeff exclaimed.

"Yeah, it was pretty cool." Bridgette said from the left side of the small stage.

"We should head home." Sebastian said laughing.

"Yeah, I think today has been enough fun." Kurt agreed.

"Today was amazing." Bridgette smiled widely at her favourite cousin.
