Clove

Cato and I were escorted to our own apartment near the control room. Coin and company had given each of us our own apartment next to each other (as per Haymitch's request). Cato and I were right next to the Everdeen's apartment. Then to our left were Lexi, Andy, Amethyst, Jasper, and Hunter (who always bunks with Lexi) then Brutus and Enobaria's apartment to the right of them. Then across from us was Finnick and Annie's apartment, which had Haymitch to their right and Cash and Gloss on their left. We saved the one to the left of them for when Johanna came and we figured Peeta would probably join club Everdeen. The apartment was actually pretty nice. We were met with a small entranceway that led into a living room and dining room. The walls were white with nothing covering them and the floors were a grey carpet. The furniture was a mix of white and grey; white sofas and chairs with grey metal tables and a small TV on a TV stand. To the right of the dining room was a small kitchenette, all white cabinets and grey metal countertops. The living room branched off into a white and grey hallway (who coulda guessed the hallway woulda been white and grey?) that led to 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. The bedrooms were…wait for it… white and grey. Grey metal headboard and white pillows and sheets. Well at least it was big. Well it looked big, I don't know specific types of bed, I just go by big or small. Grey metal vanity and wardrobe, most likely filled with grey uniforms…fun. A chime sound rang through the apartment; apparently there were intercoms in here too.

"Must be dinner time." I mused.

"Don't have to tell me twice babe, let's go!" He grabbed my wrist and tugged me out of the room. If there was one thing in this world that he loved (besides me of course) it was food. Any kind of food really. If there was food around, there was also Cato.

We followed the black arrows printed on the hallway intersections to the cafeteria. Brutus and Enobaria were already there holding a table for all of us. Enobaria waved to us and pointed to the line for food, Brutus was already plowing through his food at a rather alarming rate. We were handed plastic grey trays (they really do love their grey, don't they) with some weird looking slop on it, accompanied by a roll that was as hard as a brick, and trust me I'd know, District 2 was known for their brick-like bread. Mainly because we are the stone district. I dropped my plate down across from Enobaria at sat down on the bench. It reminded me of the Training Center cafeteria…or the prison cafeterias in movies if one wants to think of it that way.

"Is it edible?" I scrunched my nose and poked at the beige slop with my fork.

"Not really sure, but it doesn't taste horribly bad. Seems to work for the boys." She smirked and pointed at them with her fork. Cato had just began to inhale the food while Brutus finished up inhaling his.

"Just like twins." I remarked.

"Can barely tell them apart." She added.

"So what got us the honor of the high class rooms? Cash and I just toured the place and it looks like we got the nice stuff." Gloss remarked while setting his and Cashmere's trays down next to me.

"Haymitch mentioned the whole 'victor nightmares' thing to Coin and she didn't want us disturbing the peace with our screams of terror so she put us in our own special wing where we won't bother anyone."

"Nice job Haymitch." Cato cheered.

"He says we owe him alcohol. And not the cheep stuff, he wants the best from each of our districts."

"Sounds like something Haymitch would want." Lexi remarked, setting her tray down next to Enobaria followed by Hunter then Andy.

"He said that you knew exactly which type he wanted. Where are the squirts?"

"The little socialites have already made friends. They asked if they could eat with them and their parents tonight. We didn't see an issue with it. The Mrs. Everdeen and Primrose said they'd watch over them for us when we were off in the control room." Andy answered.

"Where's the mer-people?" Hunter asked, referring to Finnick and Annie.

"Here." They said brightly while taking a seat next to Andy.

"Well aren't you two cheery this evening." Cash joked. Then both Lexi and Enobaria looked at eachother eyes wide.

"Nu-uh, you didn't." Lexi said shaking her head slightly.

"Did what?" Annie said, her cheeks heating up. Cashmere caught on fast.

"Oh yeah, they definitely did."

"What?" Finnick gave them a confused look.

"They jumped each other's bones!" Enobaria hollered. Annie choked on her food. Lexi bolted up and clamped a hand over Enobaria mouth. Finnick patted Annie on the back a few times, making sure she was okay. The rest of us busted out laughing. Brutus banged his fist on the table.

"Thanks for broadcasting that to everyone here." Finnick said sarcastically. I calmed down my now aching sides and wiped the tears that had formed in my eyes.

"I didn't think it was that obvious." Annie muttered dejectedly.

"Where's 12?" Finnick asked, trying to change the subject.

"Both are in the control room, working out the little details of the rescue mission." Lexi stated.

"Apparently we're heading out first thing tomorrow with a group of 6. Gonna keep it small, quick, and clean." Hunter added.

"Bring them back guys…and please be safe." Annie said quietly. We decided to move on to more cheery topics, like complaining about the food and how sulky the people are and making jokes about each other. After we were all done, we said our goodbyes and wished Finnick, Hunter, and Lexi good luck. Finnick joked they'd be back in time for dinner with Johanna and Peeta joining us. Cato and I headed straight to bed after. We were both exhausted, we hadn't had a good night's sleep since before the Games. Now that I think about it, we haven't slept in a bed since before the Games. The mattress sunk under our combined weight. It was soft and comforting. I let my head sink into the pillow and let the blankets swallow me up. I cuddled up into Cato's welcoming arms. Thankfully, I was too exhausted to have any type of dream of nightmare, and was able to enjoy a dreamless sleep. In the morning a uniform clad official was waiting for us. He pointed to my hand then held out his. Cato and I shared a weary glance before I gave him my hand. He held up a large stamper then pressed it lightly on my hand. When he removed it, violet covered writing, indicating different activities such as meal times were listed next to specific times.

"This is your schedule for the day, keep to it. Lateness is not acceptable." The official stated as he stamped Cato's hand.

"We have our entire day planned out? Ew." Cato sneered while taking my hand and heading towards the cafeteria.

"Just like in the Capitol, except no frilly and tacky Capitolites buzzing around escorting us everywhere." I commented, earning a laugh from Cato. Breakfast was kinda odd without Finnick, Hunter, and Lexi. Annie was as still as a statue, nerves and worry radiating from her. Andy wasn't too much different. Brutus and Enobaria were occupying themselves with the mini twins. Those two made Enobaria melt like butter. Cashmere and Gloss had given them the task of drawing a picture of their favorite part of District 1. I have no clue where they got the crayons and paper, but it probably had to do with some death threats on some unnamed victors. To be quite honest I tuned out the lectures and speeches Coin had been giving us. Actually I kinda just dozed off most of the day, staring off at random objects in boredom or playing with Cato's hands. Of course, that was until after lunch. When we returned, the control room was in a state of uproar and panic. All I heard was frantically chatting people and saw a small crowd of people up in front of the large monitor. Brutus dragged someone over by the collar and demanded to know what the hell was going on.

"They're back from the Capitol." The boy said frantically. Annie's face lit up and she began looking for Finnick.

"It was a failure though…they were expecting us from the beginning…we couldn't save them. They're still in the Capitol…" The boy continued. I felt my heart sink. Johanna wouldn't be joining us for dinner after all.

"Where's Finnick and the others?" Annie asked desperately. The boy gave us a sad look and pointed up to the crowd. We all bolted down the stairs then back up the other set, Annie and Andy in the front. We shoved random techs out the way and saw Haymitch, Coin, Plutarch, and Katniss in the center. Hunter and Finnick were sitting down across from them. Haymitch rubbed his jaw before looking up at us. The others held faces of defeat and sadness, Katniss was silently crying, most likely over Peeta. But I wasn't prepared for the Finnick and Hunter's reactions. The first thing that startled me was the fact that there was just the two of them, Lexi was nowhere in sight. But the look of sheer agony on Hunter's face, tears running freely down his face, his hair fisted tightly in his hand and Finnick's silent tears as he held Annie to him tightly.

"W-where's Lexi?" Andy asked shakily. We were all dreading the answer.

"They were waiting for us from the start. We had found them, Johanna and Peeta, locked in cells. We were working on the locks when the peacekeepers descended on us. We barely escaped, thought Lexi was right behind us but…" Finnick said shakily.

"The Capitol has her."
