Chapter 35
"...Beautiful...Powerful...Dangerous...Cold..."
"...Look beyond what you see..."
"...Soon you will be mine..."
Voices from dreams, the past, and present times merged together in Terra's mind as she stirred. How long had she been out? A few minutes? Hours? The girl tried to move, but at first found she couldn't. Her world was dark and cold. It was then that Terra remembered that she, Anna, and Kristoff had fallen from high above, escaping the clutches of 'Marshmallow' the snow giant. As much as she loved the snow and the adventure taking place, Terra wished she was curled up with a good book or sleeping in front of a warm and toasty fire. However, there was still the matter of Elsa and how Arendelle looked as though it may stay frozen for a little bit longer than she had originally thought. 'First things first though...Got...to get...out...of...here...' She told herself struggling to get out of the snowy blanket, all the while keeping her eyes closed.
"Agh!" Terra gasped sharply as cool air greeted her lungs again, causing them to burn for a slight second. Her eyes took a moment to refocus as she spotted a few trees off in the distance, the cliff face behind her. She quickly looked away from it as her heart sped up at the thought of falling from so high. '...Yep. Still afraid of heights...' The girl thought as she laid a hand on her chest to try and calm herself. After she caught her breath, she looked around more, the girl found that Anna was also still waist deep in the snow.
"Just like Kristoff said. A pillow!" The girl said with a laugh.
"Easy for you to say Carrots..." Terra teased, still trying to dig herself out of the snow. However, she and Anna were drawn to Olaf freaking out a few feet away, only to have Kristoff pop up. He brushed some snow off his vest, coughing a little before catching Olaf's legs and helping him get put back together for the hundredth time.
"Is everyone alright?" He asks softly, looking over at Terra and Anna. They both nod and soon, Terra emerges out of the snow and hears Olaf giggling as Sven appears, happy to see him. She looks frantically for her horse, wondering if he was nearby too. Kristoff gets out of the snow himself, helping Anna before her sister could.
"Terra, are you okay?" Anna asks, laying a hand upon her sister's shoulder.
"I don't see Titus, do you?" The copper-haired girl looks around and doesn't see him and shakes her head. Terra takes off her right glove and puts her pointer finger and thumb in her mouth and produces a solid whistle that echos in the night. The small company listens and soon, there is a whinny in the air, and a black steed appears seeming out of nowhere. As she puts on her glove, Terra gives into a sigh of relief when Titus approaches her, glad that her horse is okay. "Good boy." She says patting him briefly.
"Alright," Kristoff says putting his hands on his hips. "What do we do now then?"
"Well-" Terra is cut off by Anna, who is now beginning to panic.
"We can't go back without this fixed! She threw us out and...and...there's his ice business..."
"Anna, it's okay. Let me figure it out. I am Queen after all, you don't need to worry about this. We will see summer return, I'll come up with something."
"And besides, don't worry about my ice business. It'll be fine." Terra watches Kristoff's eyes widen. "Worry about your hair! It's turning white!" Terra looks over at her baby sister just in time to see the strand of white in her hair become even larger. She isn't sure what to say, her heart stopping. Her lungs burn as oxygen struggles to make it's way into her body. How could this have happened? When did this happen?
"Anna, what happened?" Terra finally manages and Anna looks over at her.
"Elsa was going to strike you and I pushed you out of the way. I know that it was an accident. It's fine, I was glad to do it." Anna says, giving Terra small smile. Terra had wondered why Anna had pushed her and it was because she had seen something that she hadn't. The girl put her hands on her forehead, beginning to pace as best as she could in the snow. There was only one reason why Anna's hair had turned white. Her heart had been struck by Elsa's powers.
"We need to get her help and I know just where to go." Kristoff states and this brings Terra out of her thoughts before a panic attack can completely settle in. "I have family, friends rather who are love experts. They'll know what to do." Terra was going question it, but what other choice did she and her baby sister have? Who knew what would happen if they didn't get Anna help in time...Her body gave into a shiver trying to rid herself of those thoughts.
"Okay! Then on with another adventure!" Olaf cried out waddling around, a smile still on his face. They would get Anna help and then she would be okay.
"Lead the way Kristoff, but I think at least for a little while, some riding might do us some good." Kristoff nods, mounting Sven a few moments later after helping Olaf onto the reindeer. "Come here Anna." Anna does so once Titus was standing by her sister. Terra helps Anna onto her her tall horse first this time and then gets on just behind the saddle, as there was only room for one. She deftly takes her lengthy, magenta cloak and then wraps a good portion around her sister before taking her horses reins.
"What are you doing?"
"Keeping you warm. I'm not taking any chances. I will not lose you or Elsa." Terra swallows hard, her voice cracking. "We have too many years of good memories to make ahead of us." Anna felt herself warm slightly at her sister's words. Soon the company begins to make their way to wherever Kristoff is leading them.
"Kristoff, how do you know that your friends can fix what is happening?" Anna asks as they travel.
"I've seen them do it before. A long time ago." Terra looked at him, brow furrowed in concentration. What did he mean by that? She wanted to ask him about it, but decided to leave that for a later date. Right now, all that the young monarch cared about was saving Anna and then helping Elsa to see that she could do anything she set her mind to, no matter how long it would take.
As the companions rode along in the forest, a chilly wind blew slightly, causing a shiver to run through them. Anna even more so from her heart. Terra feels the girl shiver and as best as she can with one hand, fixes the cape that she had draped over her sister previously. The copper-haired girl couldn't help but smile at this. She knew that she was loved, though it was hard to see where that was with Elsa. However, the girl could remember countless times where Elsa showered her with love. It even went so far as to keep herself in her room most times to protect not only her, but Terra too. The eighteen year old felt another chill within herself and longed to have her mind on different things. So, clearing her throat, she ventured forward.
"Terra?"
"Hmm?" Her sister said and she felt the vibrations of her sisters voice as she leaned against her. Titus walked softly, no longer lurching as greatly as he did the day before. Kristoff merely glanced back every now and again to make sure Anna was okay. He also could see slight panic in Theresa's eyes and he knew that she was struggling. She was the older sister. She was supposed to do the protecting and not the other way around. The man could see that her pattern had been disturbed yet again and Theresa was having a hard time adjusting.
"Would you tell me a story? Like...I mean something that actually happened." She hears Terra sigh, but it isn't one of sadness. It's one of thought. The brunette searched through her memory banks to find a possible event that she had yet to tell Anna and one that she could tell Elsa at a later date. It eventually came to her, Kristoff and Olaf also choosing to listen.
"Well, I don't suppose you would want to hear about something that happened between me and Mama? I mean, I could choose something else if it's too painful." Terra felt Anna tap her left forearm as she held her horses reins, her arms on both sides of Anna to keep her from falling.
"It's okay. I would love a story like that...But if it's too hard at any point, you can stop."
"Alright then..Let's see then...Ahh! I have just the one. I remember the day that Mama came to me with some very, very important news. First she and papa tried to tell me together, but I think I was too interested in playing at the time. Anyways, she told me that I was going to have a baby brother or sister soon, Elsa obviously. Of course, I explained to Mama didn't want one because that meant I would have to share all of my toys." Terra told her, breath once again coming out as small, misty white clouds. Anna felt herself begin to giggle.
"She then told me how it didn't work that way and I'd be getting a sibling whether or not I wanted one...I distinctly remember putting my hands on my hips and demanded Mama to tell me exactly how it worked. How the baby got here in the first place...Although her response was, 'I'll tell you when you're older...' " Terra felt herself begin to laugh at the memory, but it wasn't just her. Kristoff and Anna had joined in the laughter as well, all old enough to know. However, Olaf was a little confused, but was easily distracted now by the lack of snow on the ground.
"Hey, look! There's hardly any snow here." The snowman said, hopping down off Sven without the reindeer having stopped. Terra pulled back on her horses reins, soon dismounting. Kristoff and Anna followed suit, taking the time to stretch their legs.
"We're getting close." Kristoff informs the tiny group. It was at this point, they all continued on foot, hoping that walking would keep them all warm and stall Anna's coldness. Terra holds her horse's reins loosely in her left hand, her mind bringing all sorts of questions to her. Why wasn't this area covered in snow? Was there some sort of magic power here? Or did Elsa's "not so eternal" eternal winter just miss this area somehow? Not only that, thoughts of the man that she loved loomed from the back of her mind. Her heart ached as she wanted him for herself, to tell him that she loved him...And yet, she wanted to see Anna happy...Would this inner battle ever end? She supposed that it would once she spoke with both the Prince of the Southern Isles and her sister.
"Terra, look!" The queen feels a nudge to her right side and then feels Anna link arms with her. She looks up to where her sister is pointing and smiles. Lights are dancing through the sky in purples, oranges, yellows, pinks, green, and light blue. The brunette can hear her sisters voices as they woke her up when they were younger. '...Terra! Wake up! The sky's awake and we're awake, so we have to play!'
"Look Sven," Olaf says, now back on the back of the reindeer. "The sky's awake...It's so pretty."
"Yes it is Olaf." Terra says with a sigh. She feels Anna take her arm away, wrapping her arms around her middle. Anna gives into a shiver and before Terra says anything to her, Kristoff jumps in and leads Anna to a steam vent. This makes the queen smile, glad to know that this man is caring. The copper-haired girl relishes in the heat for a few minutes before the group begins to move again. It's now that Kristoff breaks the initial silence that had settled among them. He's describing how and what his friends, the love experts, are like and how they took him and Sven in when they were little. Terra can't help but be more interested in Kristoff, her new friend, as he goes on and on.
"...You'll get it...I mean, they mean well..." The blonde man says, finally ending his ramble. Terra looks around once again, taking in that her surroundings seem very familiar.
"...They sound wonderful Kristoff..." Anna says with a smile. Terra brings Titus to a stop as Olaf gets down from Sven. They watch as Kristoff takes a deep breath and gestures towards a small glen of rocks. Terra's eyes widen. So that's why it looked familiar! The Valley of Living Rock! The green eyed woman didn't realize that the trolls lived so close to the North Mountain. Terra smiles, glad to be somewhere where help would truly come. She makes sure that Titus is okay when she lets go of his reins and goes forward. 'The trolls took care of him...Well, at least someone did.' For this, Terra was glad. 'Back where it all began...' She thinks to herself.
"It's been so long." Terra exclaims to Kristoff, moving forward and going through the rocks with him as he gives the troll greetings. The queen can hear Olaf trying to convince her and Anna to run as he finds it strange that Kristoff is talking to rocks...And Olaf finds it even stranger that Terra is seeming to encourage him.
"...Well um...Terra, we should go..." Terra quickly waves her hands and this makes Anna stop. Titus is off in the distance, grazing on moss, and not really caring about what's going on.
"Just wait." The brunette says, now standing at Kristoff's side with a smile as the rocks begin to shake. Soon, they take troll like form, crystals about their necks glowing. Anna's eyes widen as she realizes these are the trolls that Terra talked about in her journal. The trolls take notice of Kristoff and excitedly share all of what's been going on in the Valley and their accomplishments.
"The trolls, from your journal!" Anna says with a smile and Terra nods. Meanwhile, Olaf takes a moment to process that the blonde man's name isn't actually Sven, but soon he is smiling at the trolls too.
"That they are. Once we can speak to Grand Pabbie we can-"
"Kristoff brought a girl home!" Terra looks down to see Bulda pointing at Anna in the distance. She remembered that Bulda was Pabbie's daughter from the last time she was here several years ago. However her heart stops when a another troll, a manly voice, pipes up in the crowd.
"He brought two of them! And look at how close he's standing next to her Majesty!" Terra feels her face get extremely hot. Kristoff's cheeks turn pink as well and Anna just giggles at the situation that's unfolding.
"Oh goodie, a soon to be daughter-in-law I hope!"
"N-no you don't understand. We're not-" Terra says, her social skills failing her.
"We're not together Bulda. It's not that simple." All of the trolls look at the two youngsters, their eyes blinking.
"Well what's the issue Kristoff dear? Why are you holding back your feelings from the Queen?" Terra feels her face get even hotter as she hears the slight musical tone behind Bulda's voice. Kristoff gives Terra a nervous crooked smile as the trolls begin to sing about fixing up "their" boy with the current Queen of Arendelle.
"Is it the stern way she walks? Or the strict way she talks?"
"Or the hundreds of potential suitors that she'll meeeet?
"Now hold on a second it's not-" Terra said, only to get cut off once again. No matter what the girl tried, she couldn't make herself heard among the singing. Anna couldn't help but laugh at the situation, even though she knew that her plan to have the ice harvester court her sister had ultimately failed. The irony of the trolls thinking they were together was just hilarious.
"...So the Queen's a bit of a Fixer Upper, that's a minor thing..."
"...Her kingdom engagements are flexible arrangements..."
"By the way, we don't see no king!"
"Hey!" Terra finally said, her voice echoing through the rocky glen. The trolls look over at Terra, her face still beet red. Kristoff and Anna look at her wide eyed as well surprised by her loud tone, also curious to what she has to say.
"It's not to say that there won't ever b-be a...k-king...B-but..." She swallowed hard, knowing Anna would have questions about it. "I am...I'm already in love with someone..."
Her face stays warm, but she sees a small smile on the blonde man's face beside her. Kristoff was glad that Terra finally admitted it out loud to herself. He knew what that was like, trying to admit something out loud and what it looked like to only admit it inside of oneself. Anna however, her eyes are wide and filled with wondrous curiosity and longing, wishing to know who exactly her sister loves.
"Who is it then?" Anna asks excitedly. Terra watches as the trolls remember there was another person with them, their eyes looking over at Anna. In a flash, Anna is pushed over to where Kristoff and Terra are standing. They begin to dote on her, now assuming the Princess of Arendelle is actually with Kristoff since the Queen is taken. Soon, the singing begins all over again, only this time it's about Anna's feelings about Kristoff. Down the road, Terra figured she would laugh more about this. However, at the moment as she was tossed around as much as her sister, her friend, and Olaf, she felt more jumbled than anything.
"She is engaged to someone else okay!" Terra hears Kristoff shout as they are all put back on the ground. The trolls huddle up, singing still and thinking they are being quiet, but in reality it was quite the opposite.
"I never said yes you know." The brunette makes a point to mention to everyone, Anna included. Although it seems to go unnoticed by the trolls but something one of them, Bulda, is singing catches Terra's attention as the troll woman looks at her sister.
"...We're only saying that love's a force that's powerful and strange..."
"..People make bad choices if they're mad or scared or stressed..."
"...But throw a little love their way an they'll turn out the best..."
'Wait...Love...That's it! That's the key to-' Terra's thoughts are interrupted as she finds herself being adorned with a nature made crown and cape made of moss. A necklace of flowers adorn her neck and she feels a rounded orb of quartz get thrust into her left hand, a scepter made of a smoothed wood and a glowing green crystal that sits atop it into her right one. It felt similar to the items she held a mere two and a half days ago at her coronation. When she looks up, she sees Kristoff an Anna are dressed in a similar way. However, there wooden clothes seem to reflect one another and Terra can see the look in the ice harvesters eye at her sister and there is also a glimpse of something trying to form in Anna's eye.
"Whoa!" The queen cried out as she was surfed along the trolls, placed into a small pit with Anna and Kristoff. She now stood behind them under a stone archway, still holding the scepter and orb. Trolls surround them, a few stacked atop one another and the one on top holding a book begins to speak.
"Do you Anna take Kristoff to be your trollfully wedded-" Terra's eyes go wide as she realizes that all three of them are in wedding attire. She quickly sets down the orb and scepter and waves her hands, shaking her head in disapproval. However, Anna is just as flabbergasted as she and Terra speak at the same time.
"Wait what?"
"You're getting married." the troll replies.
"Now wait just a second!" Terra cries. Anna soon felt a shooting pain once more in her heart, causing a hand to go to her chest. She knew that her face was now set in a slight grimace to further display her pain as she started to collapse.
"Ugh." Terra looked over at her sister, seeing her hair turn whiter as she began to fall, Kristoff catching her.
"Anna!" The brunette quickly takes off her woodland attire provided by the trolls. Soon, the queen got down on her knees, helping Kristoff rid Anna of the things the trolls had put on her. Anna could see the look of worry upon her sisters face as her brows were drawn upward, a deep frown appearing. She knew that look and it was that look that made Terra, once again, seem like a ghost of their mother, moon illuminating her figure. Kristoff briefly let the woman across from him hold Anna while he took away his own woodland attire before continuing to help Terra hold Anna.
"She's as cold as ice..." Kristoff whispered and Terra swallowed hard, doing her best not to panic. So many things ran through her head, but much like three years ago, she looked out among the trolls and pleaded.
"Please...Please help us." The sea of trolls parted, revealing Grand Pabbie's rolling figure. His brow was hard set, a slight tinge of fear in his eyes. His voice was as gravelly and soft as Terra remembered, it gave her peace among the events that were unfolding.
` "...There is strange magic here...Magic that is not of the Valley...Kristoff, your Majesty, bring her closer." The pair did their best to move the now white-haired girl closer to the elderly troll. Kristoff saw that Terra, still Theresa in his mind, was struggling and he forced himself through his social awkwardness. Terra felt someone take her left hand and give it a squeeze. She looked over to see Kristoff nod at her, wearing a look that her father used to. It was a look that said, 'Don't worry. It will be alright, I've got you.' Terra returned the nod and did her best to focus on what Pabbie was saying.
"Anna, your life is in grave danger..." The troll pauses. "I can see that it was put there by your sister...Although I know it was an accident, otherwise your fate would have been sealed long before you reached the Valley...If it is not removed...You will turn to solid ice, frozen forever..."
"N-no...It's not...That's not..." Terra choked and stumbled and she could feel eyes upon her. Her stomach had dropped and her own heart now felt as though it wasn't working right.
"Then remove it Grand Pabbie." Kristoff says, knowing at the moment Terra's mind is too muddled to form proper sentences. The elderly troll shakes his head, explaining that he can't.
"I'm afraid now, only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart...It's the only way..." Something comes to Terra...Something that makes her want to crawl under a rock and just shrivel away, but maybe...just maybe that's the key. She also knows that she has to get back to Elsa. Elsa had to know about Anna.
"...A kiss..." She whispers. Kristoff looks over Terra, seeing pain begin to spread across her face. Anna shivers, her hair turning whiter as Terra and Kristoff steadied her. The twenty-six year old takes a deep breath. "Kristoff-" His nod cuts her off as he calls Sven over, having him help them out of the pit and from under the stone arch.
"Wh-what are we g-going to do?" Anna asks. Terra hears words circle through her head like an inward storm. 'Let him go...Let him go...His kiss will break her cold...'(*)She pushes forward, guiding her sister towards Sven.
"You are going back to Arendelle...to kiss Hans."
"But-" Anna tries to speak, but she feels herself being placed onto Sven by her sister and the mountain man. Terra whistles and her horse comes trotting over to her side. "Wh-what about you? You're c-coming aren't you?" Kristoff swallows hard as he sees a stern look in the queens eye.
"No. I'm going to go back to Elsa. She has to know and maybe I can convince her to come home. Kristoff, I am entrusting you with my sister's life. Make sure no harm comes to her or you shall answer to me." He nods and realizes it is the first time that he has heard such a queenly voice come from the woman, the magenta cape making her seem even taller and more regal in the moonlight. Mutters of the trolls float around them, but their words are quiet.
"I can't go without you! Besides, Elsa kicked us out...How are you going to get her to come?"
"Love is the key Anna." She sees Anna's bottom lip quiver as Kristoff gets onto Sven behind the princess. Terra's gaze softens as she takes her sisters hand. "Don't be afraid, all will be well. You get your true love's kiss from Hans. Then Elsa and I will be home to see you waving us inside at the gate."
"Am I going with you?" Terra hears a familiar voice say and she looks down to see the delightful snowman looking up at her. She shakes her head.
"I want you to go with Kristoff to help Anna." Olaf nods determined as he hops onto the back of Sven with the help of Kristoff. Terra mounts her horse, quickly grabbing her reins. "Anna, I love you and so does Elsa. No matter what anyone says to you...Don't forget." Anna nods as she shivers once more, watching her sister nudge her heels in to the sides of her horse. Titus rears up as Terra calls out to him.
"Flykte Titus!" [Flykte=Fly] They, the trolls and the figures atop Sven, watch as the queen rides her horse off into the direction they had previously come. And not soon after Terra left, Kristoff urged Sven to run as fast as he could. He wished to make sure that he got Anna to her kiss as Terra instructed...even though it felt his heart was going to break...and so was Theresa's.
Snow fell lightly as Terra and Titus flew through the woods, following their still visible trail from making their way to the trolls about an hour and a half earlier. Time now was more important than ever. Anna was freezing and at quick pace too, her hair was evident of that. 'She's going to kiss him before you...' a voice taunted her in her head. Terra shook it away. 'You've only kissed one man twice...You won't get to kiss the man you truly love...' She gritted her teeth, willing that tiny voice to go away. After all, there were far more important matters at hand. Soon, Terra found the base of the cliff where she and her companions had fallen.
The brunette pulled on Titus' reins, bringing him to a brief stop until she found Sven's old footprints. She then willed her horse to go in that direction in yet another run. It was then they found an easier way to get back up to the ice palace instead of through the ice spiked hills. The horse and the queen found their way onto the rocky landing they had found the previous afternoon. Terra pulled back on the reins, dismounting as quickly as she could without harming herself or Titus. The horse was glad to stop, licking up some of the snow as if he knew that any water he might find would be frozen.
"Stay here." Terra commanded him as she took off the magenta cape, laying it across her saddle. Titus bobbed his head and the girl flew off into the direction of the icy staircase that led up to Elsa's icy creation. (All the while planning on ignoring her fear of heights when she would be crossing the stairs). However, the brunette did not expect to run into a problem...a rather huge problem. As she arrived at the base of stairs, there sat the enormous creature, Marshmallow. He also seemed to notice Terra's presence, standing up and growling, towering over the girl.
"YOU NOT SUPPOSED TO COME BACK!" Terra didn't know what to do, so she just dropped to her hands and knees in the snow...but this seemed to work as the creature advanced no further. She spoke out loud, not knowing if the creature would understand, but she prayed that it would.
"Please. I need to see my sister. It's important...It's our sister Anna, she's in trouble." She heard Marshmallow's growling begin to subside. "I'm not going to hurt your mother...your creator, I promise. I just need to talk to her." Terra looks up to see the ice monster's spikes receding, face softening. He begins to step aside and the girl quickly scrambles to her feet.
"You go in. I keep you and creator safe from harm." Terra smiled at the creature as she made her way past him.
"Thank you Marshmallow." There was rumbling of the ground as Marshmallow sat back down at the bottom of the steps. The queen pushed on and made her way to the icy double doors of the castle. She wasn't sure how her words would come out or what would happen, but she wasn't going to take no for an answer this time.
"Elsa?" Terra called out as she entered the foyer of the ice castle, but there was no reply. The woman was unsure of where Elsa could be, so she decided to search the entire castle as quickly as she could. Hopefully without falling because of the ice. Once again, Terra felt a pull to the long hallway she had noticed when she had been here before. Her feet carried her quickly, her gloved hands fumbling on the crystalline handles of each door that she opened as she searched for the blonde. However, one room made her stop, drawing her completely inside it.
Her green eyes fell upon an exact recreation of the den she and her sisters used to end up in. Not a single icy item was out of place, but something in that room stood out, making Terra's heart ache. She pulled off one of her gloves, fingering the icy statues that stood facing the door, smiles upon their faces. It was breath taking and yet sad for Elsa's plan had been to create two ice figures that were exact copies of her sisters. This way, she could be with them and not hurt them at all, but she found that her heart still longed for the warmth of her sisters hugs and the warmth of them holding her hands. After this realization, she had not returned to the den, not wishing to see the figures any more.
Terra slid her glove back on and decided to look upstairs. Maybe Elsa had still been in the room that they all gathered in earlier. Her heart pounded as she continued to think about how time was of the essence and the information that she thought would help her blonde sister with her powers. As she neared the end of the hallway, Terra noticed a change in structure and in color. Reds and purples swirled about, icy spikes protruding from the walls...Elsa pacing back and forth.
"Conceal. Don't feel. Don't feel!" The queen took a deep breath and entered inside the room. She slid, causing a small squeak upon the icy floor. This in turn caused Elsa to look up, Terra's figure gracing her vision. The blonde felt her heartbeat quicken, worry filling her even further. Snow began to fall lightly. "What you are doing here? You were supposed to leave..."
"I did leave...But Elsa, something's happened..." She watches Elsa shake her head, hands over her ears as she still tries to calm herself. It was then Terra knew she needed to try a different approach first. "Elsa, do you remember that day in the library?" Elsa looked up at her sister, her hands slowly moving away from her head.
"Remember how we cleared the ice during our game of hide and seek? Close your eyes and take a deep breath. I'll do it with you." Terra watches as her sister hesitates and she takes a few more steps forward, now holding out a gloved hand. "Do you trust me?" Elsa's lips pursed together, but her right hand shakily moved of its own accord, clasping Terra's left one tightly. They both closed their eyes and their breathing soon becoming as one.
Terra was the first to open her eyes, a soft smile coming to her. The colors were gone as well as the stalactites of ice from the ceiling and walls. She gave Elsa's hand a loving squeeze which caused the blonde to open her eyes. Her own blue eyes widened as she found the castle was calm again, reflecting how she now felt.
"I-I did it..."
"Yes you did Els. You are far more capable than you give yourself credit for." Terra tells her and Elsa can see the sisterly love and motherly kindness in her wise green eyes. The brunette purses her lips together, knowing she must get her next few words out. They would have to get to Arendelle as quickly as possible to help Anna further. "Elsa something has happened to Anna. It happened when-"
.RUMBLE.
"What was that?" Elsa whispered into the air. Neither of them moved for a moment, but then Terra thought better of it and decided to investigate what that noise had been. Elsa trailed after her down the icy hallway and down the stairs. Soon, they reached the double doors, opening them slightly to find a battle going on between several Arendelle guards and...two of the Duke's men? 'That's odd...' Terra thought. However, what she did not notice was that Hans was fighting as well. However, her eyes widened when she saw the Duke's men begin to sprint towards the open door, weapons in hand. She and Elsa quickly shut them and Terra pushed Elsa in front of her.
"Run! Back upstairs to the ballroom!" Elsa didn't question her sister as she picked up her skirt, flying back up the stairs they had just come from. Terra followed after Elsa, not nearly as quick. She looked over her shoulder as the front doors to the castle flung open, maroon coated men running inside. Elsa hesitated on the stairs, waiting for Terra to catch up. The green eyed woman saw one of the Duke's men cock the crossbow in his hand, hearing a twang. She shoved Elsa forward to make her start running. Terra groaned as she felt a sharp sting in her side, but forced herself to continue running. Soon, she and the blonde were back in the ballroom.
"Now what Terra? Where do we go?" Elsa cried, her back still toward her sister as she stood in the center of the room.
Terra felt heat slowly spread across her cheeks and a throbbing appear in her side. Warmth also seemed to travel from her side and down her left hip...'Strange...' she thought. Her eyes slowly moved to her left side, seeing a shaft of an arrow protruding from it. Red. Red. Red...It was the only word she could think of as her fur vest began to slowly soak up the crimson liquid coming from her body. Terra could feel the throbbing wanting to take over her whole being, but she shook her head. She forced herself to move forward a few more steps, before falling to her knees, grabbing her left side.
"Terra?" Elsa turned around and didn't see her sister until she looked down. Her heart stopped at the sight as her sister was practically folded in half, drops of red on the icy floor. Elsa quickly ran over to her sister, pushing her blonde bangs out of her eyes. Terra slowly lays down on the ground and that's when the twenty-one year old sees the arrow her sister had saved her from. "Please don't-" Terra swallows hard, knowing what Elsa was thinking. However, she wasn't going to allow herself to die.
"I'm not going to Els...However..." The older girl gasps slightly. "...I won't...say it's not...painful..." Elsa hears her sister gasp in pain again as she holds her in her lap. Something begins to bubble up in the blonde's stomach. Her teeth are gritted, her light brown eyebrows drawn together in frustration, lips drawn into a slight frown. Soon, Elsa looks up to see the maroon coated men enter the ballroom. Gingerly, she sets Terra down and steps in front of her. Her voice is shaky as she tries to maintain her emotions.
"Please, just stay away...You've done enough. Can't you see that?" The blonde gestures to her injured sibling on the ground. Elsa hears the twang of a crossbow and puts her hands up in front of her, forming an ice wall. The icy walls themselves soon turn yellow. When she opens her eyes again, she sees that she has stopped the arrow. It is then she realizes that she can protect one of her sisters properly for once, anger taking over. Her hands move about, sending one of the men up against the wall, pushing the other towards the edge of the balcony. Terra can see what's going on, but the pain she feels keeps her words from forming. She needs to bring Elsa back to...back to...Her mind is going foggy, black spots at the corners of her eyes.
"High Princess Elsa!" A voice calls and Terra recognizes that voice and she does her best to sit up and see who it is. Her heart aches when she sees the familiar auburn hair and green eyes. He wasn't supposed to be here. Anna was on her way back...She needed his kiss.
"...Don't become the monster some of the people fear that you are...This is not you!" The brunette woman is now on bended knee, though she just wishes to lay still. Her vision sees Elsa come back to reality, seeming to realize anger is not the way. A few words leave Terra's lips as Elsa's blue eyes are now on her.
"Elsa...l-love...w-will...th-" her words are cut off by a sting of pain. Elsa gasps as she looks up, the chandelier cracking. Her hands quickly grab Terra, pulling her along to escape the falling ice chandelier, but Elsa slips after a few feet, going unconscious as her head connects with the icy floor. The queen cries out in pain as she hits the floor on her left side, shattering part of the shaft of the arrow. Her vision fades in and out and the last thing she sees three sets of black boots advancing towards her and Elsa before she blacks out from the warm pain.
(*)The part where Terra basically tells herself to let Hans go is in the tune of let it go...though some may have already guessed that. I just wanted to clarify. :o
