Author's Note: I am sorry for not updating on Sunday like I said I would. I...got busy. Next time that won't happen! Anyway, thanks for the favorites and reviews so far, even if I'm not getting that much reviews for this story. I still intend to continue this until the very end though!
Super Mario Sunshine Adventure
Episode 3: Mysterious Hotel Delfino
Red cap removed from his head, Mario smoothed out his dark brown hair and then put it back on with a loud sigh. Oh yes; the red plumber was very pleased with their most recently obtained Shine Sprite. They had quite a few now and the more Shine Sprites they got, the closer they got to rescuing Princess Peach and Amy Rose. Everyone was currently standing outside of Hotel Delfino with the hotel manager there as well. The girls were very upset that the guys had just left without saying anything at all and retrieving a Shine Sprite without them!
"How could you guys just leave us like that?" Pauline questioned the males with her hands in the air. She seemed choleric. "I…I thought something happened to all of you! I was worried!"
"Thanks for your concern, but we're fine!" Sonic waved a hand at her in a dismissive manner. "There's no reason to worry anymore! The Blooper-surfing legend and his mighty friends can withstand anything! We're practically immortal!" the blue hedgehog bragged cockily.
Pauline rapidly shook her head, hands clenched into fists. "No you can't, Sonic!" she yapped loudly. "I seriously thought those Boos ate you all!"
"Pauline, we're really sorry! Please don't be upset with us!" Silver pleaded, not wanting the woman to be upset with them. For as long as he'd known her, she had never gotten upset with her friends! This was the first time the hedgehog from the future was seeing this!
Pauline didn't say anything and folded her arms.
"You should've told us where you were going or you could've just waited for us," Blaze pointed out in a calm attitude. Her arms were folded just like Pauline's. "Things would've been much more simpler that way."
Mario ignored all of them and walked over to the hotel manager who seemed as though he was expecting them! When he stopped in front of the Pianta, he was grinning at him from ear to ear…if he had any.
"Ahhh, dear Mario!" he greeted the plumber. "Please, come right in! Do I sense some reluctance? Come now, don't dawdle," he insisted.
Complying with the manager's wishes, Mario entered the hotel and everyone else followed without a word. He could sense immense tension from his comrades, but he didn't comment on it and decided to let them work it out on their own when they were ready. Feeling parched, Mario headed on over to the fruit bar where a Pianta was standing behind the counter.
"A very unusual egg arrived today," the Pianta told Mario out of the blue while gesturing towards a Yoshi Egg off to the side. "Who could it belong to…?"
Mario glanced at the Yoshi Egg that currently wanted a specific fruit and he inwardly groaned, not wanting to deal with another Yoshi again. They were annoying. The only Yoshi he knew that wasn't annoying, was the Yoshi that he was friends with! The Yoshis on Isle Delfino were all like, "FEED ME!" or "I'm hungry!" and "FEED ME!" Yes, 'FEED ME' was quite popular with the Yoshis.
"Ah! By any chance, is this yours, Mario?" the Pianta questioned the red-capped hero. He was now pointing at the Yoshi Egg.
Mario sighed. "I guess so…"
"Great!" the Pianta exclaimed in a happy tone. "Now, what can I get ya?"
Placing his hands onto the counter while taking a seat, Mario wearily ordered some pineapple juice. The Pianta fixed up his drink quickly and served it to him. In return, Mario gave the Pianta two Coins, paying for his beverage.
"Yo, Mario!" Sonic strolled on over to his buddy. When he reached him, he took a seat next to him. "What're you doin' over here all alone, huh?"
"Relaxing and treating myself to something sweet," Mario responded immediately while taking sips of his cold pineapple juice. "It's really refreshing."
"Can I get you anything, blue dude?" the Pianta wanted to know from the hedgehog.
Sonic placed his vision on the Pianta behind the counter and showed a grin. "Sure! I'd like to have uh…how about some apple juice?" he decided.
"Coming right up!"
As the blue speedster waited for his juice, he turned around in his seat and saw that the girls and Silver were all walking towards the casino area. A Pianta employee was blocking the entrance though.
"My apologies, but the casino is not open for business quite yet," the Pianta informed them while not moving an inch. "Sorry, people."
"Great," Pauline sarcastically remarked.
"No…how could this happen?" Silver wanted to know, highly disappointed.
"Darn," Blaze muttered.
Silver finally noticed Sonic and Mario at the fruit bar, drinking yummy drinks. Silver was over there in a flash, ordering every drink available on the menu! As he did that, he chatted happily with Sonic and Mario cheerily.
"You know, Blaze," Pauline talked as she surveyed the males all having a blast with each other at the fruit bar. "What do you say we go and explore the rest of the hotel? We might find a Shine Sprite or something!"
Blaze thought that was a great idea. "Sounds like a plan, Pauline. Let's do it."
Removing themselves from the lobby, the ravishing lady and the purple feline headed up the stairs of the hotel, going to the second floor. There was nothing of interest on the second floor, so the females continued upwards to the third floor, finding a large pool with a Shine Sprite in it! However, there was no possible way to get through…!
"There's a Shine Sprite in there!" Pauline exclaimed while pointing a finger.
"I can see it," Blaze yawped.
"Hey! That sparkle!" said a Pianta woman as she gazed at the Shine Sprite within. "Could it be a Shine Sprite?"
Pauline nodded her head at the woman and then ran over to a blue Pianta that was blocking the entrance into the pool where the Shine Sprite was located. "Move out of the way, you ruffian! We must get through!" she shouted.
The blue Pianta gave her a stern look and didn't move a muscle much to the girls' dismay. "Hey, you! No one in the pool without proper swimwear!" he boomed loudly, rocking the whole room as if an earthquake was occurring!
"Sir, please," Blaze persisted. "Just let us in! There is something really valuable inside that we must retrieve. Have some consideration."
The blue Pianta was not moving and he stupidly ignored everything the purple feline voiced. "I said no one is allowed in here without THE PROPER SWIMWEAR!" he hollered out in a very choleric manner.
"Just let us in!" Pauline yelled.
"I SAID NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN HERE WITHOUT THE PROPER SWIMWEAR!"
"You're not making any sense!"
"I am making perfect sense, girly, and I said nobody is allowed in here without the proper swimwear."
"Sir, please…!"
"I ain't hearing it! Either you get the proper swimwear or get your rear ends out of here!"
Fed up with the inconsiderate guy's attitude, Pauline marched away and out of the place, gazing out of the window at the Shine Sprite that happily floated above the pool inside. "I can't believe this is happening!"
"I know right? The Shine Sprite is right there!" Blaze erratically pointed at the Shine Sprite inside its containment. "But that idiotic imbecile wouldn't remove himself from the entrance!"
"Do you think we can just break the glass?" Pauline queried curiously.
Blaze shook her head. "No. We'd be arrested."
"Oh…" sighed Pauline as she put on a forlorn expression, crossing her arms over her chest.
Going back downstairs, Blaze and Pauline reached the hotel lobby and saw that the guys were still enjoying their fruity drinks, laughing and talking about good old times from the past. Blaze and Pauline decided against telling them about the Shine Sprite and entered the men's restroom for reasons that were unknown to them. They just…wanted to see if there were any clues in there.
"There's some water running down the wall right here," Pauline conveyed as she ran her fingers along the water that was running down the wall.
"Do you think it leads to somewhere?" questioned the purple cat.
"There's only one way to find out!" Pauline declared and then jumped up, disappearing through the ceiling oddly. Yes, it was rather illogical.
Shocked, Blaze followed the other girl and ended up in a room in a small pool of water. "How in the world is that even possible?" she asked.
"I don't know!" Pauline answered while wringing the water out of her long hair. "But we're in one of the rooms. I wonder if someone is inhabiting this room right now…"
Moving around a corner, they were met with a bed, some other things, a painting on the wall, and a yellow Pianta woman who was just standing there.
"I get a really creepy vibe from this…weird painting," she informed them as if there weren't strangers in her hotel room. "But you want to know what I find even creepier than that?" she questioned.
Blaze and Pauline simultaneously nodded.
"…Imagining how you got in here!"
"Oh, uh, heh heh…" Pauline laughed sheepishly, not knowing how to answer that.
"We…found the wrong room?" said Blaze awkwardly, not knowing what to say either.
The Pianta woman appeared very skeptical. "Oh? So you just thought this was your room, huh? How in the world did you get in here then? The door is LOCKED!"
Suddenly, Mario, Sonic, and Silver appeared, rounding the corner and catching all the females by surprise! The Pianta woman fainted and fell onto her bed while Pauline jumped high into the air and Blaze hissed.
Sonic moved forward and caught Pauline in his arms, holding her close to his body as she clutched onto him while breathing heavily. "You okay…?" Sonic drawled out slowly, giving her an amused expression.
"Yes! N-Now put me down!"
Sonic shrugged and put the woman back on her feet, watching as she placed a hand upon her chest to steady her rapidly beating heart. Sonic chuckled at this. "Fancy seeing you guys here!"
"How did you know we were in here?" Blaze demanded to know, smoothing down her purple fur and feeling a little embarrassed for hissing.
"We followed you guys!" Silver answered instantly with a massive smile. "We saw that you guys were clearly up to something and decided to see what that something was!"
Pauline gave them an annoyed look, obviously still upset with them from earlier. "I thought you guys were too busy having a good time drinking fruit beverages!"
"We finished those," Mario replied while shrugging, bringing his eyes to the painting in the room and ignoring the Pianta that had fainted a few seconds ago. "What's up with this painting here?"
"The Pianta woman said it was creepy…" Blaze trailed, shrugging her shoulders.
Sonic grinned and jumped towards the painting, examining it thoughtfully. "Girls, when someone mentions something about something being strange or weird, that means that we should investigate it!" the blue hedgehog whipped around to gaze at the red-capped plumber. "Mario, use FLUDD on the painting real quick!"
Mario nodded and used FLUDD, squirting the painting with water until an image of a Boo appeared. When that was done, Sonic jumped through the painting, going right through. Everyone was perplexed, but they followed. They appeared in another hotel room with two Nokis running around all over the place for some unfathomable reason.
"S-S-Suddenly a g-g-ghost came out of the c-c-closet!" the male Noki stuttered out in tremendous trepidation.
"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!" the female Noki screeched loudly in great fright.
Right after that, Boos appeared out of the thin air, floating around with drool hanging from their mouths. They were the ghosts that the Nokis were talking about.
"They still look so creepy and…and disgusting!" Pauline shrank back, repulsed.
"I know," said Blaze, grimacing.
Silver shrugged. "Oh, they're not that bad looking, girls! Get over it!"
Blaze hit him in the back of the head. "Don't tell us to get over it!"
"OW! Okay, I'm sorry, Blaze!" Silver whined while rubbing his poor little head.
Sonic laughed at them, holding his belly. Mario, however, had other plans. He marched over to the Boos and squirted water at them with FLUDD. After that he jumped on top of their heads and destroyed them, getting Coins afterwards. When he was done with that, the red plumber turned towards the closet that the male Noki was talking about.
"There's something up with this closet, don't you think?" Sonic questioned his pal as he wended over to him. He lifted a hand and pushed one of the rectangular things that made up the closet. When he did, it spun around and revealed a piece of a picture. "Huh, that's interesting…"
Mario totally agreed with him as he pushed the other one. The plumber and hedgehog both worked together to push the pieces of the closet until the rectangular pieces formed a picture of a Boo. Pauline and Blaze were currently freaked out by it while Silver just stared in awe. Next, right before their very eyes, the closet pushed aside and allowed them access into another room.
This other room looked quite lovely! There was a small pool in there and some other cool things that can't be explained at the moment. A terrified Pianta woman was running around the room, a horrified expression coloring her features. There was also a few pink Boos in there floating around. They had drool slipping out of their ugly mouths just like the regular Boos!
"How about this? Take this!" Silver rushed forward and then threw a few Psychic Knives at the pink Boos. He immediately did that so Pauline wouldn't be scared. He knew Blaze wouldn't be too afraid of the harmless Boos. Anyway, his attack caused the pink Boos to be currently immobilized, allowing for Sonic and Mario to spray them with water. Mario used FLUDD and Sonic used his newfound abilities. Due to their combined skills, the pink Boos transfigured into pink platforms that led up into a secret compartment above.
"Awesome teamwork!" Sonic crowed and he and Mario slapped each other a high five.
Pauline walked over and gazed up at the hole in the ceiling. "Are we actually going up there?" she asked uneasily, unsure about going into a dark place.
"Of course we are!" Sonic responded as if it were the most obvious thing in the whole wide world.
"Wait…" Silver began with a clueless expression written on his facial features. "What in the world are we doing anyway? We're just barging into people's rooms uninvited? What's the point of all of this?"
Blaze looked at them. "Oh, that's right. Well, Pauline and I found a Shine Sprite, but we aren't able to reach it because an inconsiderate and ignorant Pianta wouldn't let us in! You saw the pool on the third floor, right?"
"Uh…yeah?"
"Good. That's where the Shine Sprite is. We're trying to find another way in there," Blaze answered in a finalized tone of voice, nodding her head.
"Oh, well this shouldn't be too hard, right?" Mario questioned as he climbed on top of the pink platforms, getting up into the hole in the ceiling.
Everyone partially agreed with the red hero as they all followed him up there. When they reached their destination, they were in another room, but this room belonged to a Noki woman. She almost screamed at their sudden appearance and she stumbled backwards, almost falling.
"Wait a minute!" she exclaimed, terrified. "Where did you come from? I'm calling for help!"
"Don't do that!" Silver yawped, frightened.
"Yeah, lady," the blue hedgehog backed the other hedgehog up. "We'll be out in just a moment, kay?"
The Noki woman looked like she wanted to fuss some more, but she kept her mouth shut and moved away from them, slowly making her way over to a telephone in the room.
"Hey, there's a bed in here!" Mario announced, jumping up and onto the bed and bouncing on it. "I used to do this all the time when I was a little lad!"
Silver joined him. "Yippee!"
Blaze rolled her eyes at them. "Stop fooling around, you two! We're here on a mission, not to be goofing off!" Miffed, the purple feline searched around the room and found a bathroom that looked pretty nice.
"Hey, look!" Pauline declared suddenly, finding an entrance into another room. "I found another entrance! Let's keep moving!"
Everyone instantly piled into the room and found a Pianta in there. The room looked like a storage room of some sort. The Pianta eyed them curiously, wondering how they got in there. "Now where did I put that thing…" he muttered to himself, not really surprised by the fact that there were strangers in there.
"Dude, what's up?" Sonic asked the Pianta, grinning.
"Uh…I'm fine, I guess?" the Pianta replied slowly, raising an eyebrow. "Hey, have you seen a pineapple anywhere around here?"
That statement made Mario recall something and he released a very loud and horrendous groan that made everyone gaze in his direction. "I have a feeling that this whole episode has something to do with the Yoshi Egg I saw back in the lobby!" he shouted out in annoyance.
"Get a grip…" trailed Sonic.
"Yeah, Yoshis aren't THAT bad!" added Pauline, hands on her hips.
"I KNOW!"
Pauline and Sonic shrank back in shock and mild fear. "Okay, okay. Geez Louise!"
"Hey!" Silver guffawed. "You both said that at the same time. You should knock on wood and pinch each other!"
Grinning mischievously, Pauline knocked on some wood with her knuckle and then brought her fingers to Sonic's arm, attempting to pinch him. "Knock on wood! PINCH!"
"AH! Get back! Back, I say!" Sonic sped around the small room, not wanting to be pinched by Pauline. Surprisingly, Pauline was chasing the poor hedgehog around the room while having her fingers out, making a pinching motion with them.
"Get back here, Sonic!" Pauline exclaimed.
"NO!"
Silver was cracking up at the duo and was leaning against Blaze for support. Blaze, who was just tolerating it, had her arms folded with a flat expression coloring her facial features. She didn't appear happy whatsoever.
Mario rolled his eyes at his friends and then collected the Coins in the room. Next, he used FLUDD to spray water on a poster with a Boo on it. Instantly, a hole opened up in the wall, revealing a pathway into another room. Without hesitation, the red-capped plumber jumped through the hole in the wall and found some more Coins along with a Blue Coin. He greedily grabbed all of them and smiled.
"You now have 98 Blue Coins, Mario!" FLUDD commented in a surprised voice.
"I know! It's cool!" Mario retorted.
Suddenly, Sonic burst into the room while still being chased by Pauline who still wanted to pinch him. "STOP IT, PAULINE!" the blue hedgehog screeched like an insane banshee.
"NO WAY, JOSE!"
Then, all of a sudden, a Boo made itself known from in front of them and almost sent the two into cardiac arrest! Sonic tripped over his own feet and went crashing into the ground with a loud cry and Pauline stumbled back, her face paling.
"Take this!" Blaze leapt through the hole in the wall and into the new room, sending a stream of flames at the Boo and almost burning Mario's head off in the process!
"HEY!" the red plumber covered the top of his head with his gloved hands, breathing deeply.
"Hah!" Silver came through the hole next and jumped on top of the Boo's head after Blaze burnt it with her flames. The Boo dispersed and Silver snagged a coin in the air, chuckling in awesome victory.
Sonic bounced to his feet and breathed out heavily. "I almost died!" he placed a hand onto his chest, sweating.
Suddenly, a sharp pain pulsed in his arm and he yelped, leaping away from the person who inflicted the pain upon him. Looking, he could see Pauline standing there with a wicked grin on her face.
"Pinch!" she giggled.
"Imma get back at you! You just watch!" Sonic promised.
"Oh, I am SO scared!" Pauline said through her laughter, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Sonic huffed and folded his arms.
"Hey!" Silver piped up and pointed where they came from. "There's a strange looking tile in the other room. I think if we Ground Pound into it, we'll find another room!"
Thinking that that was a wonderful idea, the gang agreed and traveled back into the other room. Mario Ground Pounded the strange tile in the room and they all fell through and ended up in another room with lots of crates inside. There was also a giant sleeping Boo blocking the entrance into another pathway.
"Oh my gosh!" gasped Pauline, hands on her cheeks. "There's a giant Boo right there!"
"We can see that, Pauline," Blaze calmly remarked, approaching the sleeping Boo. "I mildly wonder what this Boo is doing here though."
Silver threw a couple of Psychic Knives at the crates in the room and they all obliterated, revealing pineapples underneath them! "Hey! Pineapples!" he blared.
"For the Yoshi…" groaned Mario.
"Yeah…" moaned Sonic.
"Enough of your moaning and groaning!" Blaze yipped in a very irritable manner. "We have to take one of these pineapples to the Yoshi in the lobby. After that, we'll bring the thing back here and he can, like, maybe swallow up this overgrown Boo so we can get through!"
"Wow! You're very smart!" Pauline complimented.
"…are you being sarcastic?"
"Um…no?"
"Oh. Okay."
Anyway, the quintet left the place with one of the pineapples and ventured back to the hotel's lobby. Mario gave the Yoshi Egg the pineapple and an orange Yoshi instantaneously burst out of the egg that was its cage. It swallowed up the delicious pineapple and cooed in appreciation. However, it was far from being satisfied, unfortunately…
"Where's the rest?" the Yoshi wanted to know, frowning in agitation as it gazed at the five characters. "Can't you see that I'm starving here?!"
Everyone ignored what it said.
"So, who wants to ride it?" Sonic asked everyone.
"Not me!" answered Mario, shaking his head rapidly and holding up his hands.
"I really don't feel like riding another Yoshi again…" trailed Pauline in uncertainty.
Silver raised his hand. "Oh! Oh! I haven't ridden one yet! Can I, please? Can I?!"
"Sure! Be our guest!" the blue hedgehog shoved Silver towards the orange Yoshi gleefully.
Silver immediately situated himself on the orange Yoshi's back. The Yoshi looked annoyed now as it glowered at all the individuals. "I am hungry!" it screeched.
"Don't worry, little guy!" Silver informed the dinosaur while patting the top of its head. "There's plenty of food where we're going!"
The Yoshi's eyes looked ready to pop out of its head. "REALLY?!"
"Really."
"THEN WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?! LET'S GO!" the orange Yoshi took off at a fast sprint that had Sonic impressed.
Anyway, everyone made it back to the room with the large sleeping Boo in it and Yoshi didn't waste any time in eating the remaining pineapples. After that, it rushed over to the sleeping Boo and devoured it without a second thought. Everyone was shocked at what just happened as the pathway into another room was revealed.
"He just…ate it like it was food…" Blaze whispered, truly horrified by what happened.
"That's so…disturbing!" Pauline input.
"Bizarre too!" Sonic added.
"Yoshis eat anything," Mario reminded them as he stepped into the new room, gathering the coins and Blue Coin that he found in there.
Eventually the gang found the attic, which was a maze that was crawling with hideous Boos. Fortunately, Yoshi was there to eat them all as they navigated their way through the attic maze. Yoshi was having a blast and its belly was getting bigger with each swallow of a Boo.
"Why is the attic made this way?" Silver questioned as he steered Yoshi forward, watching as the orange dinosaur flicked its abnormally long tongue out and snatched a Boo out of the air by surprise, eating it without chewing. "I mean, it doesn't make any sense!"
"Obviously they wanted people to be confused!" Sonic responded with a guffaw.
"Which doesn't make any sense…" commented Blaze as they went along.
Pauline sighed loudly. "It's so tight up in here!"
"You're telling me!" Mario agreed with her sudden statement. "I feel claustrophobic!"
"THESE BOOS ARE SCRUMPTIOUS!" the orange Yoshi claimed as it ran along through the maze that made up the attic. "I especially like the big, fat, juicy ones! Mmmmmm! Delicioso!"
Silver sweat-dropped at the Yoshi, still sitting on its back. "Glad you're enjoying them," he awkwardly remarked. In his mind, he wondered what Boos tasted like.
Suddenly, Mario found a crack on one of the tiles on the floor and he had Silver tell Yoshi to Ground Pound into it, which they did. Everyone fell down and down until they reached the swimming pool! Yes! They were now inside with the Shine Sprite! The blue Pianta from before whipped around and glared at them intensely.
"Hey, you! No one in the pool without proper swimwear!" he howled like a gorilla.
Everyone exchanged glances before Yoshi flicked out its tongue and wrapped it around the blue Pianta. After that, the blue Pianta yowled in horror as Yoshi swallowed him up, eating him quickly. Once the blue Pianta was gone, Silver motioned for Yoshi to go over to the Shine Sprite. Doing so, Yoshi ran over and was about to eat the Shine Sprite, but Silver stopped him. The hedgehog quickly grabbed the Shine Sprite and held it up above his head, posing with Yoshi.
"Too easy, piece of cake!" Sonic exclaimed.
"Perfect!" Silver cheered.
"That wasn't too hard," remarked Blaze.
"That was splendid!" Pauline clapped her hands with a massive smile.
"Yahoo!" Mario jumped up into the air in elation.
