Disclaimer: I only own Aurelia.
The next day sparked the start of their move to retake the school. Hassleberry took a Ra yellow and two Obelisks to one side of the school while Bastian, Alexis and a few other students went to the other side. They were trying to block off the hallways leading to the gym so that the students who were not zombified had more freedom to move. Aurelia oversaw the work going on in the gym and made sure that she was available to all of her students who had questions. Some of them were just scared and wanted reassurances but others were eager to help so she sent them to Jim who had them building barricades that they could use against the doors.
Aurelia looked down from the overlook of the gym and spotted Axel talking with Adrian. Axel had started a defense team of sorts who would try to protect everyone if any ghouls got in. She wasn't particularly worried about Axel, but her students that had been training with him were on her mind.
Crowler and Bonaparte were wandering around the gym doing a headcount of all the students not turned into ghouls. Jaden and Jesse were watching over Blair while she recovered from her illness. Chazz was loitering around like he usually did and occasionally helping out. Of course, he couldn't be seen helping out. That would ruin his image.
Aurelia wandered over to Blair, Jaden and Jesse as they watched Winged Kuriboh and Ruby Carbuncle chase each other. "What's up with them?" she asked Jaden and Jesse as she approached.
"I figure they're just playing." Jesse said.
"At least someone's having fun." Jaden added. They watched Ruby and Kuriboh chase each other over to Ruin who was guarding the door. She squawked as Ruby jumped on her to try and swipe at Kuriboh. Aurelia shook her head in amusement.
"How are you feeling Blair?" Aurelia asked.
"Better." She said but looked away.
Aurelia glanced at Jaden and Jesse in confusion. Jesse leaned closer to her. "Blair's feeling responsible for losing Marcel." He whispered.
Aurelia glanced back over at Blair as she nodded to Jesse. "I know how it feels." She sighed. "I never should have let Viper into this school."
"You didn't know." Jaden said.
"That man rubbed me the wrong way since he got here." She said. "He even had the faculty wear the bio bands when they were meant only for the students. He even offered me one. I should have known something fishy was up with him."
"Give yourself a break Aurelia." Jaden replied.
"Viper seemed like an okay guy before all of this. You couldn't have known." Jesse said.
Aurelia held up her hand. "Ah! You be quiet. I don't want any commentary from the peanut gallery." She said.
Chazz froze behind her. "How did you-?"
Aurelia walked away from him. She heard Jaden and Jesse snickering at Chazz as she walked away and smirked to herself. Sometimes keeping up this image of being completely fed up with each other was fun.
"Dinner! Come and get it!" Dorothy called.
Aurelia glanced up from the doorway before nodding at Athena. The duel spirits didn't need to eat but she needed to grab a bite. She reached the food table just as the students went nuts and tried to grab a piece all at the same time. "Not all at once! Everyone form a line!" Dorothy called.
Once each person had a cube of what looked like chocolate Jell-O, Aurelia grabbed hers.
"Check it out guys!" Jaden exclaimed. "My food's got rhythm. Kinda reminds me of one of Sy's science projects."
"Smells good." Jesse said.
"Tastes good too." Hassleberry added.
Chazz stared at his sceptically. "I not sure I want to be eating this."
Aurelia rolled her eyes. "Just eat the food Princeton, or I'll eat it."
He brought his plate to his chest and away from her. She smirked at his outraged face and spooned some more of the chocolate whatever-it-was into her mouth.
"I'm so glad you're not scared of it." Dorothy said.
"It's kinda like old fudge." Jesse said.
Hassleberry downed his in one gulp. "It's great!" he looked down at his plate. "I just wish," he licked it, "I had more."
"You know there's not enough." Jaden said.
"We have to ration it out." Jesse said.
"I know, my bad."
An Obelisk blue with long teal hair walked up to Dorothy. "Hey! We're still hungry! We want something else!"
"He's right! I'm an Obelisk blue so I should get more!" A brunet student said.
"Ra yellow too." Another added.
The students started swarming the table again. Dorothy backed off. "Please settle down! That's all we have."
"Everyone chill! We're all in this together so start acting like it." Jaden said.
"So take your pompadour and back down!" Hassleberry said.
"You want some?" the teal-haired student threatened.
The sound of a gun loading broke the tension. Axel stood over them on the gym overlook with his duel disk activated. "Hey! That's enough everyone. I think you need to calm down. But if you choose not to, you'll have to answer to me." Everyone immediately backed down.
'I think you should be paying him' Chazz sent.
'No kidding.'
Hassleberry growled. "We could eat all we wanted if we could just get to the food storage facility."
"Maybe those duel ghouls deliver." Jaden joked.
"That's just not funny!"
Aurelia shook her head and walked away. Axel had dissipated the tension around the food table and Dorothy was able to resume cleaning up. Aurelia returned to her post at one of the doorways. Athena walked away to one of the other doors while Ruin stayed with Aurelia.
'Where are you going to be bunking tonight' Chazz asked.
'I'm not.'
'Aurelia, you need sleep just like us.'
'I'm a rather nocturnal creature remember? I'm fine.' Aurelia glanced up at the full moon through the skylight. 'But you need to sleep Chazz.'
'Don't know if I can.'
'Nervous?'
'Just not used to sleeping on the ground and without my bedmate.'
Aurelia bit her lip to try and hide her smile as she gazed up at the sky. 'Tell you what, when we get out of here, we'll spend a whole day in bed. Sound good?'
'Always does.'
"Situation ruining your night?" Ruin asked with a grin.
Aurelia rolled her eyes at her. "Yes it is actually. I miss sleeping next to him."
"I nabbed you one of these." Ruin said, and brought out a pillow from behind her chair.
"Where did you get that?" Aurelia asked as she handed it over.
"One of the rooms. Looked kind of like a storage closet with some other stuff that got passed around. I saved you this though."
Aurelia propped it up against her back as she leaned against the wall.
'Do you really think we'll get out of here?' Chazz asked.
'I'm really hoping so right now.' She sighed. 'Sleep Chazz.'
'Only if you do.'
"Go to sleep Aurelia. Athena and I can handle the night shift." Ruin said.
Aurelia shifted and curled into the pillow. "Alright, both you and Chazz have convinced me. I'm going to sleep."
"Good."
"Night Chazz."
'Goodnight.'
"Hey, did any of you guys see where the guy with the pompadour went?" Jaden asked the next morning.
"The one who was causing trouble at the dinner table? Haven't seen him." Aurelia replied.
"Well, I overheard him and some of his buddies talking about finding food." Jesse said.
"And you didn't think to warn them not to?" Aurelia said.
Jesse scratched at the back of his head. "Well, I didn't think they'd actually do anything."
"How'd they sneak out of here?" Axel asked.
"My fault Axel. They got through a window in the loo. I thought that my team had this place nailed down tight." Jim said.
"Did you fix that?" Aurelia asked.
"Did it this morning." Jim said.
"What do we do? It's too risky to go out looking for them." Crowler said.
"They'll be okay." Bonaparte soothed. "Hopefully they'll find food and Marcel."
Aurelia gave Bonaparte a look, concerned with his fascination with Marcel. Whoever Marcel was he was clearly a favourite of the vice chancellor.
The P.A. system in the school came to life suddenly. "Attention students! As your host, I'd like to welcome you to your new home."
"Marcel?" Bonaparte said.
"Where'd your accent go?" Jaden called out. "What's going on here? We want answers, got that?"
"Everything will be made clear in due time." Marcel replied.
"In due time? How about right now." Hassleberry said.
"That doesn't sound good." Chazz said.
"Marcel! Where are you? We're your friends remember?" Blair called.
"Silence!" Marcel replied. "Marcel is nothing but a shell for me. I rule this world now and I've turned your classmates into my loyal duel soldiers."
"What's he talking about?" Jaden asked.
"I think he's talking about the duel ghouls." Aurelia replied. "But how did he create them? And what's this business about a shell?"
"I must say, it is quite amusing, watching you trapped in here, fighting the inevitable. But I'm not all bad, so I'd like to propose something to you." Marcel said.
"I don't like the sound of that." Jesse said.
"Before jumping to conclusions, hear me out. I know you're hungry, so I will grant you safe passage to and from the food storage facility. And in exchange, all you need do is allow me to have access to the power generator complex."
Jaden frowned. "But it doesn't work. We couldn't get it started because there was way too much sand inside of it."
"Shh. Maybe he doesn't know." Hassleberry whispered. "Make the deal."
"Nuh uh. I don't know about this guys, I don't think we should agree to anything. This could be some kind of trap." Jim said.
"How can we trust you?" Aurelia called out. "It's not like you've earned it. Why should we play by your rules?"
"Then let's play by a different set of rules Miss Kaiba. We duel." Marcel replied.
"Now you're speaking my language!" Jaden said.
"But what if you don't win?" one of the students asked plaintively.
"Come on guys, we'll win. After all, we can't afford to lose." Jaden replied.
Marcel laughed over the com. "Glad to hear you accept Jaden. I thought you might. Now let's step outside where I have something very special for you, waiting already."
The P.A. cut out and Aurelia glanced over at Jaden. "I don't like this. We have no guarantee that he'll let us into the food storage facility anyway."
"We don't really have a choice though." Jesse replied.
Aurelia glanced back at her students as Jaden and the others started for the gym doors. She guessed that she would have to do it for them. They needed food, and if there was a chance that Marcel would give up the storage facility then they needed to go.
The halls were deserted as they walked to the entrance of the school. Marcel had pulled back his duel ghouls in order to allow them passage. What greeted them outside was a different story.
Three creatures stood evenly spaced apart, facing the school. She assumed that these were their opponents.
"Whoa, that's pompadour, and his two buddies." Jaden said. "What's with the getup?"
"I'll tell you." Marcel's voice came over the P.A. again. "They have become the ultimate duelists. A fusion of human and duel spirit."
"Fusion what? Whatevs. At least we know what we're up against." Jaden said.
"Jaden, do you ever pay attention?" Aurelia asked.
Jaden ignored her and prepared to go out to face these guys when Jesse caught him. "Your last duel was too intense, so just sit this one out. Besides, you need to save all your strength for Marcel, he's the head honcho. I'll take them out."
"All three of them? You're crazy." Chazz scoffed.
"Nah, Shirley and I will help." Jim said.
"And don't forget yours truly." Axel added.
"Looks like you got yourself a team Jess." Jim said.
Aurelia saw Jesse give Jaden a confident smile before heading out to face his opponent. Aurelia glanced at Chazz before looking back at the three duelists. Jesse was definitely crushing, if not starting to crush, on Jaden. But they had bigger things to worry about.
Marcel wanted the power generator complex, but why? It wasn't working. Maybe there was something at the complex that he needed?
'Go.' Chazz's voice echoed in her mind.
'Chazz.'
'They can handle this. Go see what this Marcel guy wants.'
Aurelia glanced at him but he wasn't looking at her. She started backing away and heading across the sand towards the power complex. If there was something that Marcel wanted there, she'd find it first.
The power complex was abandoned and looked pretty worn down from the sand. She knew Jaden, Jim and Jesse had already been out here to see if they could get the power back on but with no luck. The school was running on internal generators for now but they wouldn't last forever. Unfortunately, the power station seemed to be too damaged by the sand to be useful. Another reason why they needed to get back to their dimension.
Aurelia circled the perimeter of the complex but found nothing. No Marcel, no duel ghouls, nothing. It was the same inside the complex. If Marcel wanted something here, she had no clue what it was.
Aurelia looked up as she heard people running towards her. Axel and his Blue Berets fanned out to look over the complex.
"Any sign of Marcel?" Axel asked when he spotted her.
Aurelia shook her head. "No. And I can't find any reason why he would want the power complex."
The ground suddenly started shaking and light flashed from the opposite side of Duel Academy. Aurelia braced herself on the generator as Axel turned to her.
"What's on that side of the Academy?"
"Nothing! Normally there would be forest over there but…" Aurelia's eyes widened. "No. Marcel's not after the power facility, he's after the Sacred Beast cards!"
A scream floated to them from the school and Aurelia flinched. "Did you guys hear that? I knew it was a diversion." Axel said. "Alright, everyone back to Duel Academy."
The air started to go static and the sound of electricity filled the air. "Wait, look!" one of the Blue Berets said and pointed at a span of wires that were convulsing with electricity. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing? There's something up there."
A disembodied voice cut in and out from the static field. It suddenly formed a circle and professor Eisensteen's visage appeared.
"Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?" he said. "It's Dr. Eisensteen. Is anyone there?"
"Yes sir!" Axel said.
"Good, because we need to plan your rescue."
Aurelia turned to one of the Blue Berets. "Find Bastian and bring him here." She ordered. He nodded and took off running back to the school.
"Bastian's coming Doctor, just hold on a little longer." She said to him.
"Bastian is there? Good! I was wondering where he went." The doctor replied.
It wasn't fifteen minutes later that Bastian and the rest of the gang appeared. Axel turned to him. "So what do you make of it Bastian?"
"What do I make of it? It's my old mentor, doctor Eisensteen." Bastian replied. "Is it really you?"
"It is Bastian, und now that you can see und hear me, you must-" the doctor's voice cut out.
"We need more power!" Bastian said and ran to the generator.
"But it's broke!" Jesse said.
"I can work around that, we just have to pry these doors loose."
Axel sank his grappling machine into one of the doors while Hassleberry grabbed the other. Shirley had been let loose and was digging at the sand in front of the doors. Eventually, the sand shifted enough that Bastian could get inside and hooked up the generator to his PDA. The PDA's screen was still fuzzy but they could clearly hear the doctor's voice coming through.
"Where are we?" was the first question that Bastian asked.
"Well, something extraordinary happened! Now, don't be alarmed, but it appears that you've all been transported to an alternate dimension." Eisensteen said.
Aurelia rolled her eyes. "Yeah, tell us something we don't know." She muttered.
Aster's face appeared above them. "Bastian, are you all safe?" he asked.
"Aster!" Aurelia exclaimed.
"Aurelia? Is that you?"
"Yes, Aurelia is here with me. We're not exactly safe though. Some of the students, well, have become these sort of duel ghouls. It's a little hard to explain, but the bottom line is, the sooner we all get home, the better." Bastian paused. "Wait, if we could use your signal as a beacon…"
"I'm way ahead of you. This signal is being sent via a small portal in the dimensions that connect our two worlds. We might be able to use these portals as a means to bring you home." Eisensteen said. "However, for this to work, we need to get you one very special card. It's known as the Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon."
"Wait, a card?" Bastian asked.
"Yes, and it alone has the power to return you to this world."
"Well then that's bad news cause that card's never been made." Jesse said. "See, only the stone tablet can make Rainbow Dragon a real card and no one even knows where it is!"
"No one, until today." Eisensteen said.
Aurelia glanced at Jesse. His deck would finally be finished if they could just get his card into their dimension.
"Pegasus und Chancellor Sheppard have found the stone tablet's location and are en route. In fact, they should be arriving at the site any moment now. Once the stone tablet has been recovered, Pegasus can use the pieces to design the card himself."
"Wow, I'd never thought I'd see the day." Jesse said.
'Talk about lucky day.' Aurelia sent.
'No kidding.'
Chazz and Aurelia glanced at each other and shared a secret smile.
"So what power does this Rainbow Dragon have?" Bastian asked.
"You see, because of your power generator failure, you will need a new power source that will make this portal strong enough to get you home safely." Eisensteen explained.
"But how will you get the card to us?" Bastian asked.
"Duel energy, my dear boy. Fortunately, you all have it inside of you. Now, you must create your own power spike und this should result in the portal expanding."
"And us getting that card!"
"But it won't be easy. The duel energy flux will need to occur at exactly the right time in exactly the right place. Trans-dimensional portals are quite fickle, if we don't secure it soon it may close."
"And we'd be stuck here forever!" Bastian exclaimed.
"Let's not dwell on that. What do we need to do Doctor?" Aurelia asked.
"As I was saying, we must generate this duel flux at exactly the right spot und exactly the right time. Und Bastian, I'm sure you're wondering how. Behold! An inter-dimensional duel system!"
The giant machine looked quite spectacular from their end so it must be quite the thing on the other end.
"This machine allows us to transform duel energy into a power source. But, only the tennis courts offers the ideal environment for synchronizing our system with you and connecting our two dimensions. So go now, und get your game on!" Eisensteen cried.
"There's no time to waste, let's move!" Bastian said.
"But what about the duel ghouls? They've probably overrun the tennis courts by now." Alexis said.
"Maybe. Oh well, that's a risk we're just gonna have to take." Jesse said.
"One more thing Bastian, where's Jaden?" Aster asked. "Out running around causing trouble?"
"He's um…"
"Is he okay?"
"You know it! There's nothing he can't overcome! After all, this is Jaden. He always knows what to do!" Jesse said.
"Hardly." Chazz muttered.
'Give the kid a break, he's in love.' Aurelia sent back.
Chazz coughed to cover up his laughter.
"Let's move out!" Axel called out.
"See you in a bit Aster." Aurelia said.
"Stay safe Aurelia."
Looking into the school from the outside, this looked like a suicide mission. Duel ghouls were milling about everywhere, most of them congregating at the front doors.
"We've got our work cut out for us." Axel said. "Blue Berets, you know your objective. Clear a path for us so we can get to the tennis courts."
"Hoo ra!"
"Don't take on too many. If there's a way out, take it." Aurelia added.
"Yes ma'am."
The Blue Berets formed a circle around them and they ran. Pushing through the first group was actually rather easy since none of the ghouls seemed to know what to do. Also, since most of them were in the front of the school, the hallways were rather clear.
"This is so cool! I'm finally gonna meet Rainbow Dragon!" Jesse exclaimed as they ran.
"Gush later, run now." Aurelia said.
"Blue Beret, duel ghouls, 4 o'clock!" Axel called.
"Got it." One of them said as they stopped and activated their duel disk.
"More incoming!" Chazz said as two of them dropped from the ceiling.
Two more Blue Berets stopped to handle these ones.
"We've got to hurry! We need to reach the courts or we'll all be duel ghouls!" Crowler whined.
"Come on, pick up the pace!" Hassleberry said.
"I don't think I can run any faster!" Alexis said.
A horde of duel ghouls stopped them from going any further. "There's too many of them." Alexis sighed.
"Mon Dieu, we're doomed!" Bonaparte said.
"We're the grownups, so we have to act like it. Now we have to stall these ghouls so the kids have a chance. It's time to step up and duel." Crowler said before pulling his duel disk around in front of him. "Alright, show me what you've got you bunch of mindless, drooling brats." They all stared at Crowler. "What's the big deal, they're just a bunch of duel ghouls. It's not as though they'll get their feelings hurt."
"Will you be okay?" Alexis asked.
"We will be fine. I'll be here with him. We're gonna give those duel ghouls a double dose of-" Crowler covered Bonaparte's mouth with his hand.
"Bonaparte, you cannot stay and duel with me. For you see, you must get the kids to the tennis courts." Crowler whispered.
"Are you sure about this? It could be dangerous." Bonaparte said.
"You don't have to worry about me. I'm going to school these ghouls in the art of dueling." Crowler replied confidently. "Now go on."
"Come on kids, run for your lives!" Bonaparte said.
Unfortunately they had to run in the opposite direction and do some backtracking but that shouldn't take long.
"Take em down." Hassleberry said as he passed Crowler.
"You sure about this?" Jesse asked. Crowler nodded. "Good luck."
Aurelia grasped Crowler's shoulder. "Remember what I said, if it looks too hairy, get out."
"Don't worry about me, just go!"
Aurelia ran from him and re-joined the rest of the group. They managed to slip past a few more duel ghouls before they reached the tennis courts. Axel and Jim were the first ones in just to make sure it was safe.
"All clear!" Jim said.
"Perfect, let's get a move on guys. There's no time to waste here." Axel said.
Aurelia scoped out behind them before letting the doors close. The ghouls didn't seem to be following them, which was a plus.
Bastian gasped. "This is the inter-dimensional duel system. We shouldn't have this thing. What's it doing here?"
"We-uh, sort of borrowed it from Kaiba Corp. for experimental purposes, the kind I can't really talk about." Bonaparte evaded. "Now the control console is over there."
"No wonder Eisensteen chose this place." Bastian said as he headed for the controls.
"So that's where this thing went. Dad's been looking for this you know." Aurelia said to Bonaparte.
He shrunk away. "We were gonna give it back."
"Uh huh."
"Let's get this into position. Lend us a hand chancellor!" Axel ordered.
Aurelia ran to the nearest modulator and started pushing it away from the others and into position. The roof opened up a bit and hologram projectors came out of the sides. Aurelia angled the modulator into position as Chazz and Hassleberry angled theirs opposite hers.
"She's good to go." Hassleberry said.
Jesse stood on one side of the tennis courts in preparation for his duel. Blair activated the system and a hologram picture came up of the area around where Duel Academy once was.
"Professor, we have visual contact." Bastian said into the microphone. Aurelia stepped next to him. "We're prepared to move forward."
"Good then. Make sure your duelist is in place. Let's be quick, trans-dimensional portals are quite fickle." Eisensteen said.
"We're ready." Bastian said as Jesse stepped up. "Jesse's dueling on our end, and who's going to be his opponent?"
Eisensteen backed away and Aster took his place.
"Aster, will it be you?" Bastian asked.
"We chose someone else." Aster replied. "We needed a duelist who would generate enough energy to make this portal big enough. The decision here was unanimous. We realized we had to find someone with a competitive fire unlike any other. We needed somebody that duels to win and only win. Someone who duels with passion, ferocity and fervour. And only one man fit the bill."
"Jeez Aster, it sounds like you're in love with the guy." Aurelia joked.
"Ha ha Aurelia." Aster replied. "He's ready and waiting for you Jesse."
The picture turned to Zane and Aurelia lost it. She started laughing and walked away because she couldn't stop. She felt Chazz's amusement as well but he was hiding it much better than she was.
"What's her problem?" Alexis asked the room.
"What isn't her problem?" Chazz replied.
Aurelia waved at them. "Sorry guys, inside joke."
Zane smirked as he faced off with Jesse. "Anderson, we can't hold anything back. The only way to generate enough energy is to duel like we're mortal enemies. And that's just what I plan on doing."
"Attention! We have ze Rainbow Dragon! Now you must duel like you've never dueled before!" Eisensteen's voice called out. "Realize that should either of you forfeit or drop out, the portal will be lost and so will the chances of you getting home."
"You ready?" Zane called.
"More than ever!" Jesse yelled back.
Zane started out with Graceful Charity to add three new cards by discarding two. Then he played Proto-Cyber Dragon. He then activated Overload Fusion so that by removing Proto-Cyber, Cyber Phoenix and Cyber Ouroboros he could create Chimeratech Overdragon. His Overdragon had 2400 attack points and was a powerful start. Zane then removed Ouroboros from play which allowed him to draw a card as long as he discarded one card.
Zane played Future Fusion which meant then if he sent fusion material monsters to the graveyard, in his second standby phase he could summon Cyber End Dragon.
"Crikey, this Zane fellow's one bad dingo." Jim said.
"Bad dingo? Honestly, I really think you make this stuff up as you go along." Alexis said.
"I hope Jesse is up for this duel." Hassleberry said.
"He better be." Bonaparte said.
"Hey! Stop worrying about Jesse, we need to make sure no ghouls get in." Axel said.
"I gotta hand it to you Zane, I heard you were good, but so far you've been great! Your Cyber End Dragon is gonna be quite the challenge. Hope you don't lose before I get a chance to take it down." Jesse said.
"How dare you talk to me that way! Hope that deck of yours can back it up. Now let's see what you're made of." Zane replied.
Jesse played Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat and then added the spell Crystal Release which added 800 attack points to Amethyst Cat, boosting her to 2000 points. Then by halving her points, Amethyst attacked Zane directly and dropped his points to 3000. Jesse played a face down and ended his turn.
Zane fused his Cyber Dark Keel, Horn and Edge in order to summon Cyber Dark Dragon. Cyber Dark Dragon absorbed the attack points of Ouroboros to jump to 3000 attack points. Then for every dragon in his grave, Cyber Dark gained 100 points, adding 600 points to the 3000 he already had. Zane attacked and wiped out Amethyst Cat and sent Jesse's life points down to 2400.
The computer started going nuts and the sky darkened above them.
"What is that?" Alexis asked.
"I assume that's the portal." Aurelia replied.
"And I think it's beginning to widen." Bastian added.
Due to Crystal Release being sent to the grave, Jesse could add Ruby Carbuncle to his spell and trap zone. Zane attacked with his Chimeratech Overdragon but it was rebuffed by Crystal Pair and Jesse added Emerald Turtle to his spell and trap zone.
A hand came through the doorway to the tennis courts. "Duel ghouls!" Hassleberry shouted.
Axel and Hassleberry left the room to buy them some more time.
Jesse played Sapphire Pegasus which allowed him to add Amber Mammoth to his spell and trap zone. He then activated Ruby Carbuncle's special ability which allowed Jesse to summon all the Crystal Beasts in his spell and trap zone. Ruby Carbuncle, Amber Mammoth, Emerald Turtle and Amethyst Cat all appeared on the field. He then played two face downs.
Due to Future Fusion, Zane's Cyber End Dragon appeared on the field.
"Cyber End? Jesse, I think I need to change my shell." Emerald Turtle whined.
"Okay, that's just gross." Jesse replied.
Jesse sprung his Crystal Fortress trap which meant that all of his crystal beasts counted as 1000 points and totaled that equaled 5000 points. No monster with less attack points could attack Jesse. Unfortunately Zane played Power Load which added 400 attack points to Cyber End Dragon for the number of times that either of his other monsters could attack. With Chimeratech Overdragon able to attack three times and Cyber Dark Dragon able to attack once, this meant Cyber End Dragon gained 1600 more attack points.
Zane's Cyber End Dragon attacked but Jesse countered with Amber Crystal Circle which added the attack points of all of Jesse's other monsters to Amber Mammoth. That gave Amber Mammoth the same strength as Cyber End Dragon.
The light that came from both attacks blinded everyone present. The computer console started to short circuit from the power surge. Zane's visage started to disappear.
"Well played Jesse." He said before disappearing completely.
A bolt of light appeared from the portal and crashed somewhere.
"We see the missile containing the card. How do we use the Rainbow Dragon to get back?" Bastian asked.
"The card must be-" Eisensteen cut out as the hologram projectors on the ceiling burst.
Glass and plastic rained down on them as Bastian frantically tried to get the call back. "Someone please come in!" he called. Hassleberry and Axel crashed through the doorway. "That's not what I had in mind." Bastian said.
Duel ghouls started entering the tennis courts and some even came from the other side of the room, though, Aurelia had no idea how they got there.
Neos suddenly burst through the floor. Jaden poked his head through the hole in the floor. "What's up everybody?"
Aurelia dove for the hole. "No time Jaden, we've got to move."
She started helping the others down the hole before crawling after them. The tunnel ended in a cavern with pipes running in all directions.
"Jaden, where in tarnation are we?" Jesse asked.
"It's some sort of underground tunnel system." Jaden replied.
"It looks like it goes on forever." Alexis added.
"Did you see this in your schematics?" Aurelia asked Axel. He shook his head.
"How did you find this place? What made you come down here?" Jesse asked.
"Bonaparte. He showed it to me when he rescued me from Crowler." Jaden said.
"Fuck, Crowler turned?" Aurelia asked.
"We're done for." Alexis said.
"You can't start thinking like that. We just need to get that card." Axel replied.
"Oh yeah, Pegasus created the Rainbow Dragon card and sent it here. It's supposed to be able to get us home." Jesse explained to Jaden.
"How'd he get it here?"
"He sent it to us in a missile through an inter-dimensional portal." Jesse said. "And with the power of the card, we'll widen that portal to get us all home."
The squeal of a microphone interrupted them. "Hello Jaden. I wanted to applaud you for eluding my duel ghouls all this time. I never thought you'd last. But I think, enough is enough. So if you'd like to settle this once and for all, meet me in front of Duel Academy. Now if you win, I'll release all of the students from my control, but should you lose, you and your friends will serve me forever. So Jaden? Do you agree to my terms? As an added incentive, you only have thirty minutes to get up here, otherwise, I'll send your duel ghoul friends away forever!" the mic squealed again and then cut out.
"He's not giving us much of a choice." Jim said.
Jaden clenched his fist in anger. "If he wants a duel, he's got one."
