"OH MY GOD!" Dawn exclaimed from the other end of the phone, Lita had to put it away from her ear, but she could still hear her loud and clear. "WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE?!"
Lita brought the phone back closer to herself so she could reply to Dawn. "Can you calm down first?"
"NO! TELL ME NOW! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DO THIS TO ME!? YOU NEVER TELL ME ANYTHING!"
Lita rolled her eyes. "I didn't even have to tell you so calm down otherwise I'm going to hang up on you," she warned her friend.
"Shut up! Just tell me now!" She had calmed down a bit even though she was still loud.
"You're reaction is exactly why I didn't tell you in person," she said shifting the phone in her other hand and to her other ear. "I didn't feel like dealing with you going all crazy in person with me. The phone is enough for that."
"John would have told me."
Lita snorted. "Okay. You have every right to think that, but you're wrong."
Dawn rolled her eyes. "He loves me because I'm his best-friend. Therefore, he would tell me."
"You're so delusional. I'm inclined to believe he loves me a wee bit more."
"Because you're his future wife?" The brunette suggested with a smirk on her face knowing that would annoy the redhead.
And she was right. "You're very lucky you're not here with me right now because I would hit you for that."
"You're the one who caught the bouquet which means you're going to get married next." She was about to say more, but Lita interrupted her.
"That was planned. And even if it wasn't, it doesn't mean anything."
"What, you don't want to marry him?" Lita didn't say anything. "Cat got your tongue?"
"I don't have to answer that."
"What would you say if he proposed to you?" The smirk was still present on Dawn's face and Lita could sense it.
"I don't have to answer that," Lita repeated.
"You do if he were to propose."
"But he didn't. And if he did, I would have to answer him, not you. Please shut up."
"Fine. Someone's getting defensive. So when is he moving in?!" Dawn asked, getting excited once again.
"You're way too excited about this."
"Someone has to be because you don't seem to be."
"Actually idiot, if I wasn't, why would I have suggested it instead of saying 'no'? That would be very stupid of me."
"Whatever, so, you never answered my question, when is he moving in?"
Lita sighed. "I don't know. We only agreed to this a couple of days ago. But I guess soon."
"Can you have kids already?" Dawn randomly decided to ask.
"Excuse me?" Lita wasn't surprised by this question because it was Dawn who she was talking to, but it was still random for her to bring up.
"You're retiring soon, so start popping them out."
Lita shook her head. "You're an idiot."
"So is that a 'no'?"
"That's a 'please stop talking.'"
"You're mean."
"And you're annoying."
"So what's going on with you and Trish?"
Lita thought about it for a moment. "I don't know. I... it's getting better. Slowly, but it's getting there. I mean, she was fine with me those couple of days, so unless she was only acting civil for Lil, then it's getting better. I think it will get better when I get back. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking." She still had about two more weeks until she started going back on the road.
"Well, she seemed like she was trying, you both did. I guess she sees how happy he makes you because he does."
Lita nodded. "Yea, but she claims she's not angry because I'm with him. She's just angry that I lied and how I handled this situation. She said she doesn't know if she'll be able to trust me again."
"The heart wants what the heart wants."
"Okay, but that doesn't really justify how I went on about this. But that doesn't mean I regret it because then-" she wasn't able to finish her statement because Dawn decided to interrupt her once again.
"You would still be pining over him?" Dawn suggested.
Lita burst into laughter. "Okay, wow. That was dramatic, but whatever," she shrugged, "yea, I guess you can say that."
"Now that we basically got your man problems out of the way, help me find someone."
"You're way too picky for me to handle finding you someone."
"So are you."
Lita shrugged. "So? I never asked you to help me find someone. I did it on my own."
Dawn snorted. "Barely. Alcohol helped you. And then I helped you with the assistance of Randal and Edge even though they weren't much help to me, but still. Wouldn't really say you did that on your own."
"Shut up."
"Luckily for you, my mom is calling me on the other end so I will spare you for now. Bye."
"Bye." Lita hung up the phone and headed out the room so she could join John downstairs. He left about ten minutes after Lita and Dawn's conversation started, claiming he was getting really bored of listening to them talk.
"Boo!" John screamed as he jumped out from behind the staircase and in front of Lita who jumped and let out a yelp.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Lita yelled as she punched him in his arm.
"Why would you do that?" John said as he rubbed at the spot she punched. "You're so violent."
"Why would YOU do that?! You're such a jackass." She punched him another time as she tried to walk past him, but stopped in her tracks and turned around to face him with a scowl on her face when she heard the next words leaving his mouth.
"Damn. Are our kids gonna be violent like you?"
This could have made for an awkward moment had they not talked about their future a couple of the times the past couple of weeks. They were a bit passed the whole awkward phase for the time being. "Who said anything about me having kids with you?"
"You know it'll happen."
Lita laughed humorlessly. "And why is that? I rather not have your spawn, but thank you for the offer."
"You know you're a real bitch sometimes."
Lita raised a brow. "And yet you choose to be with me."
John smirked knowing she would get riled up with what he was about to say. "Only until someone better shows up." She glared at him and walked back up to him, he knew what she was about to do so he was prepared. He grabbed her right arm in mid air preventing her from hitting him yet again and repeated the actions when she tried with her other hand. "Try again."
She gave him a fake smile. "Maybe I will. My legs are free."
"You woul-" She kicked him in the shin, not too hard, but it still made his grip on her loosen up.
She smirked. "Don't say I didn't warn you." She turned around and left with him shaking his head. He really questioned his sanity sometimes; she could be very violent. He followed her into the kitchen.
"You're really mean to me. And violent. I can charge you for battery."
She rolled her eyes as she took a water bottle out of the fridge and another one for him even though he didn't ask him for one. "You'll get over it. I'm surprised you even know what battery is." She tossed the water bottle at him which he caught.
"Unwanted touchin'," He smirked adding more, "I mean, I don't mind you touchin' me, just not in your violent ways." She rolled her eyes yet again, but said nothing. "You told you're dad you were going to meet him today. Are you going to?"
Lita shook her head. "I'll go tomorrow. I don't want to right now."
"But you should, you told him you would."
"What difference is one day going to make? I went last week, he can wait."
"If you say so."
"And I do."
"It's two," John said looking at the time on the microwave.
"And?"
"I have to go do something. I'll be right back."
"You have to do something in Atlanta? Somewhere you don't live-"
"Yet."
"-Yea, that's not shady at all."
John rolled his eyes. "It's not. It's a surprise," he winked. "Bye." With that said, he left with Lita standing behind wondering what this surprise was about. She was bored and didn't know what to do. She was home enough the past month or so that everything was organized. She read so many books that she didn't want to read anymore. She decided she would just see if there was anything on the tv so she walked over to the living room and turned it on, but not seeing anything that looked interesting to her, so she settled for some random daytime soap opera.
It was an hour later and John finally got himself back from where he went. "Finally!" Lita said as she heard the door open and turned around to see John at the entrance of the living room not long after. "What took you so long?"
He smirked as he sat down beside her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. "Missed me?"
She rolled her eyes, pushing herself away from him. "More like I was bored." He was about to say something, but she beat him to it. "So, what's the surprise? Does it have anything to do with my birthday present? You promised me something good a couple of days ago."
"Maybe," He knew how impatient she was and how she could get really annoyed easily, so he decided he would stop teasing her because he didn't want to be on the end of another one of her violent rampages. "Yes." He then got up from the couch adding, "Be right back." She waited rather impatiently until he showed up again.
"Where's the surprise?" She asked when he came back empty handed.
He rolled his eyes. "You're impatient. In the backyard. Let's go."
"Um... okay." She followed him as he led her to the backyard. "Oh my God." She saw a dog, a Yorkshire Terrier, running around in the yard. "You got me a dog?"
"Looks like it."
"And how do you know I want a dog?" She asked, focusing her attention on him. "How do you know that I want to clean up after a dog and have that responsibility?" She questioned him.
He rolled his eyes and did the same. "Because I know you love animals and you expressed you're desire of havin' a dog when you retired. I just sped up the process a little bit."
"Boy or girl?"
"Boy."
She nodded and looked over at the dog, thinking about something. "Mason."
"What?"
"His name is going to be Mason." She was about to go over to the dog, but then stopped when she realized she forgot something. "Thanks. You know you're really starting to make me change my mind about how I feel about surprises," she hugged him and smiled, then went off to play with Mason. John was about to say something a few minutes later until a phone rang. "Hm, weird number," she said as she looked at the number that popped up on her phone and answered it. "Hello?" He watched as her face changed from the smile she had on her face when she saw Mason do something funny, to a shocked and frightened expression and then she looked like she was about to cry. He walked over to her as the phone dropped out of her hands and onto the floor. That's when he picked up the phone from the ground thinking he could find out what this was about if the other person was still on the phone, but he saw that the battery fell out of it when it hit the ground.
"What's wrong?" She looked up at him with tears in her eyes and merely shook her head, not being able to say something. He then pulled her in for a hug, stroking her hair. Whatever someone said on the phone effected her negatively and she wasn't saying yet. He was going to wait for her for when she wanted to tell him what was up. He just hoped whatever it was wasn't a big deal, but her reaction to the call told him otherwise.
