After knocking Tahiri out with a current of Electric Judgement, Jacen made sure that she would continue to sleep for a few more hours by concocting an anesthesia from the water molecules in the air around him and inducing it into her bloodstream. From there, he bore her unconscious form out the door of her room with Danni following suit. Before leaving, they went to Reluk, the manager of the Rehab Building, and Jacen explained the situation to the Ferroan.
Being a Force-sensitive, Reluk used the abundance of Force-energy around him to sense whether or not Jacen's intentions for imprisoning Tahiri for her own good were true. And since Jacen had his own Force-defenses lowered, he made it easy for Reluk to determine whether or not he was lying.
"Very well," the Ferroan concluded. "You may bring Tahiri to the Prison Center. I'm sure Miss Quee will guide you there."
"Thank you," Jacen said before taking his leave with Danni and the still-unconscious Tahiri.
Half an hour later, Jacen and Danni reached Zonama Sekot's Prison Center on foot and allowed the female Yuuzhan Vong prison warden, who was as Force-sensitive as Reluk, to take Tahiri from Jacen after the latter explained the situation to the warden.
"Our stronger rehabilitation methods will ensure that Miss Veila will get the treatment that she requires," the warden promised.
Jacen and Danni nodded wordlessly at the warden before turning and taking their leave.
As the couple strolled back to Danni's hut, she finally let out a sigh when they were about a block or so away from the prison.
"What's wrong?" Jacen asked.
"I feel that Tahiri may have been right on some level, Jacen," Danni admitted. "I mean, yeah, I understand your point that she couldn't just go out on a revenge spree like that; but on the other, I also have a hard time swallowing that a rapist is out there doing Force-knows-what."
Jacen laid a comforting hand on his lover's shoulder. "Danni, if it weren't for all the hatred and anger that I felt in her, I would have let Tahiri go and find Garis; I don't exactly like the thought that I failed to find him. And granted, I could only imagine the bureaucratic nightmare, even on a world like this, that Tahiri would have to go through to leave the Rehab Building before she was completely healed from her psychological scars from the rape. But... she was not balanced inside."
"I know," Danni acknowledged with a frown. "I just... wish that Tahiri could finally have a normal life. I thought she'd moved on from Anakin, but it seems clear now that what with the envy she displays to our relationship that she's still hooked on your brother."
Jacen was silent for a moment before he asked: "Is it true, what the warden said about the rehabilitation measures in the prison? Will they actually help her better than simple rehab?"
"Surprisingly enough, yeah," Danni said. "I've seen Yuuzhan Vong and Ferroans alike who were some of the most bloodthirsty bastards come out like saints in the span of less than a year. It's amazing; but then, on Zonama Sekot, the amazement seems to be the norm here."
"What about those who aren't rehabilitated?" Jacen asked. "What happens to them?"
Danni shrugged. "They just stay there longer. Maybe until the end of their lives." Her expression became concerned again, and she looked directly at her lover. "Do you think that's what'll happen to Tahiri?"
"I don't know," Jacen answered. "I just hope she is rehabilitated in less than a year; and the anger and hatred she feels for Garis will have perished altogether."
.
When Jacen returned to Denon weeks later, he was docking the Solo Quest in the Jedi Temple's hangar bay when he saw, through the forward viewport, Uncle Luke and Nelani waiting for him.
Once he made sure that his ship was off, he disembarked, closed and locked it up, and went to meet his uncle and Nelani, who were both smiling at him.
"Let me guess," Jacen said with a grin of his own. He looked at his second former apprentice. "You got to be a Knight?"
Nelani nodded wordlessly.
"She did amazingly well, Jacen," Luke elaborated. "Her power and skill in the Force stemmed more from the knowledge that you taught her in your three months together than all of her traditional Jedi training through her life. Her near-complete immersion into the Force, coupled with the physical reality around her, is starting to make even the more skeptical Masters like Kenth Hamner and Kyle Katarn convinced that the Unifying Force is indeed the way to go for the Jedi."
"I'm still trying to make solid objects, but so far, they just kinda turn to liquid," Nelani said. "Still passed though, so that's good."
Jacen patted her shoulder. "You'll get there, trust me. Just never forget to make sure your homeostasis is balanced; that's the key thing. Even if you fail to make anything, make sure you don't physically drain yourself for nothing, at least."
Nelani nodded again. "That's what I always make sure to do, as you taught me the first time, Master Solo."
"Well, now," Luke politely interjected, "I suppose it's time to bring you two up to speed on your next mission. If you'll please follow me."
Jacen and Nelani then followed Luke across the hangar bay and into a door leading into one of the Temple's corridors. From there, Luke guided them to the Temple's meeting room where it was only the three of them meeting.
And Imperial Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, by way of hologram over the room's table, made the four of them meeting.
"Greetings, Master Solo," the leader of the Imperial Remnant said. "I have heard about your apprentice's recent ascension into Knighthood. I must congratulate you both on your prowess in the Force."
"Well, thank you for that, Admiral Pellaeon," Jacen said. "But I take it this isn't a social call?"
"Oh, it might as well be," Pellaeon replied. "You see, while you were away on your most recent sabbatical, Chief of State Omas and I have been discussing the possibility of uniting our respective governments."
"The Galactic Alliance and the Imperial Rem- sorry, the Empire, together?" Jacen asked in mild surprise. "I take it the Moff Council has some... objections to this decision with Chief Omas, Admiral?"
"Objections is a light way to put it, but yes," Pellaeon admitted. "Nevertheless, the outcry against the alliance between the GA and the Empire is surprisingly minor on my end."
"And it seems to be the same from the GA end," Luke added. "Admiral Pellaeon, Chief Omas, and I all agree that because of the support that we're all receiving that the governments should merge as the Alliance of the Galaxy."
"You actually have strong support?" Nelani piped in. "I thought it'd be another thousand years for the GA Senate and the Imperial government to agree on anything!"
The three other meeting members chuckled at the Jedi Knight's remark.
"Well, it seems that in this instance, Jedi Dinn," Pellaeon said, "the bureaucracies of both the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances and the Galactic Empire are smiling upon their respective governments. Because it only took the last two weeks for the agreements to be worked out, and the uniting ceremony will be tomorrow night. Master Solo, Jedi Dinn, as a sign of this impending union, I want you two to be at my side when the treaty is signed for the creation of the Alliance of the Galaxy; for two Jedi to show support for an Imperial is a strong indication that the past is the past, and whatever history that the Jedi and the Empire have for each other is just that: history."
"I would be honored to stand alongside you, Admiral Pellaeon," Jacen said with a bow.
"I, too, Admiral," Nelani said as she repeated Jacen's bow.
"Excellent," Pellaeon said with a grandfatherly grin. "Then may the Force be with you both; and with you as well, Master Skywalker."
Luke nodded respectfully. "It's pretty obvious it already is, Admiral," he jested.
Pellaeon chuckled lightly before signing off.
