They had arrived at a charming small lake about half an hour away from the edge of the forest. The area was supposed to be dark by then but fairy lights with almost every color imaginable provided light to the pond, making it look almost magical.
Syaoran discovered a large flat boulder near the edge of water and immediately settled himself. The view from the boulder would ensure that he saw anything and everything approaching the pond and kept an eye on Sakura at the same time. The duty made easier as Sakura settled beside him, accompanied with dozens of softly chattering fairies.
She had brought homemade cinnamon cookies and water that had been mixed with honey. She had carefully laid them out in several small plates and bowls. The fairies 'ooh'ed and 'aah'ed excitedly before feasting on the offerings.
Syaoran watched as Sakura stared longingly at the water, he wasn't the only one. The chattering rose in pitch in an excited manner.
"Oh please, you don't have to." Sakura blushed.
The fairies ignored her and they moved to the surface of the lake.
"What's happening?" Syaoran blinked lazily, sensing no danger.
"I want to swim..They are helping me so that it is more…comfortable."
Syaoran raised an eyebrow. Fairies only uses magic for one of their own. She must be very special to them.
They watched as the fairies formed a large circle on the surface of the pond and dances across the water. The pond gave a soft glow. Syaoran watched languidly when Sakura slipped off her jacket, leaving her with a tank top before slipping into the now warm water.
"It's lovely. Thank you. I am honored." Sakura let out an audible sigh of relief and praises the giggling fairies.
Syaoran took a deep breath of clean air and watched his Sakura float lazily on her back across the surface of the pond. Sakura blushed. What is it about his gaze that made her painfully aware that he's a male and she's a female? She swam further away, her long hair trailing behind her barely disturbed the surface of the pond.
Lovely indeed, Syaoran thought. He allowed himself to relax. He had been involved in enough cases to recognize the calm before the storm. He planned to rest now, while he could.
Leave me a review. Pretty please?
