A/N: Hey guys! I intended to have this up earlier, but I just had so much going on. I'm working full time now, so I'm up by 5:30 getting ready and don't get home til around 6 most nights. And by then, I'm usually found sleeping on the couch, having tried to watch some of my shows on my DVR lol anyways, I'm actually doing this from my phone, so I hope I'm not screwing it up too badly. I promise, I haven't forgotten about this one, and I'm still working on it. I should be updating some of the others later today, when I get home. After the double date that night, Kate and Jon went back to her apartment. There was a little awkwardness during the rest of the night, as a direct result of Colby's attitude earlier in the evening. But it didn't deter the happy couple for enjoying their time together.
Kate headed into her bedroom, changing into a pair of gray shorts and a white tank top. She walked into the bathroom and took her makeup off with a makeup remover wipe and threw her hair up in a messy bun. Jon changed into a pair of black sweatpants and a white wifebeater. One he was changed, he walked into the bathroom and stood behind his girlfriend, as she was moisturizing her face. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and pressed a gentle, affectionate kiss to her shoulder.
Moments later, Kate turned around in his arms and wrapped hers around his neck. "Hey handsome," she said, giving him a smile.
"Hi beautiful."
"I'm sorry my brother acted like a completed fucking asshole," she apologized.
"Babe, don't worry about it. I'm not worried about it. I love you. Your brother is just being protective of you. He probably would have an issue with any guy who wanted to marry you."
"But he already knows you. He knows what an amazing guy you are."
"I mean, in his defense, he did have to listen to me bitch about you for God knows how long," Jon reasoned. "I'm not offended. I'm glad that he cares so much about your future and the decisions you make."
"'But he shouldn't be such a dick to you about it."
Jon shrugged. "What I care about more than that is where I am right now. I have you in my arms. I get to spend the night with you. I get to spend the entire day with you tomorrow. I consider myself to be incredibly lucky, regardless of what issues Colby has with me."
"How did I get to have the most amazing boyfriend ever?"
"You made me fall in love with you," he replied with a smile.
She leaned in and pressed a kiss to his lips. "I love having you with me, she spoke, her voice soft. "I always miss you so much when you're gone. Nothing makes me happier than being able to see your handsome face. It just…it makes me feel like I'm complete."
"I love you so much, Kate. I can't believe that I finally have you all to myself, after all of these years."
"Yeah, and now you're not gonna be able to get rid of me," Kate replied with a chuckle.
"I guess I'll just have to find some way to deal with that," he replied, in a joking tone.
"I'll try to go easy on you."
Jon let out a laugh. "I doubt that very much."
She laughed, as well. "You're probably right," she agreed.
"I wouldn't have it any other way. We both know you're the only one who can keep me in line," he told her.
"Trust me, I'm more than happy to keep you in line. And I promise, I'm gonna keep your sexy ass in line for as long as you'll keep me around."
"Well, you're gonna be busy for a long time because I'm never getting rid of you."
"Even if my brother is still giving you shit about it?" she asked.
"Even if everyone is giving me shit about it. I really couldn't care less who has a problem with it. All that I care about is that you're happy being with me. If we're happy together, then, the rest of the world could disappear for all I care. You're all I need in this world. Nothing or no one could ever change that," Jon told her, sincerity in his words.
"Good. I don't care if anyone has a problem with us being together because I love you."
"And I love you, beautiful," he reciprocated.
Kate leaned in again, pressing her lips to her boyfriend's. His grasp around her waist tightened a bit. The two were really just happy to be together…finally. And regardless of what problems that they had already encountered in their relationship and would encounter, Jon and Kate knew that they were going to be okay.
The next morning, Jon woke up first. Kate was fast asleep in his rms. He was all too happy to be with the woman that he had loved for so long. Nothing was as gratifying as being with her and having her love him, just as he loved her. He knew that the Colby issue was still a big deal. To him it was, at least. But he wasn't going to let anyone or anything get in between him and Kate. He loved her and wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with her.
"Hey sexy. You watching me sleep like a creeper?" Kate spoke, smirking. Jon had been so distracted by his thoughts that he hadn't noticed she'd woken up.
A smile instantly crossed Jon's lips. "Yes, I was. Good morning, baby," he spoke. "How'd you sleep?"
"Better with my boyfriend being here," she replied.
"I love sleeping next to you. That's one thing that I hate when I'm on the road…I wish I had you with me," he told her.
"I'd rather have you with me, too."
"You should consider getting a job with me."
Kate giggled. "Oh really?"
"I'm serious. I'm sure they can find some administrative spot for you," he spoke, his voice serious.
"You're that serious about it?" she asked him.
"I want you with me all of the time, Kate. I love you so much, and I just want to spend all of my time with you," he explained.
She smiled. "I'd love that, too," she agreed. "So, what do you want to do today?"
"Honestly, I really couldn't care less. As long as I'm with you, I'll be more than happy."
Kate wrapped an arm around him, as the two were laying on their sides, facing each other. Jon wrapped his arm around her, pulling her body closer to him. "You're the greatest boyfriend ever. I hope you know that no one else could ever make me feel even half of what you make me feel."
"Same here. You're everything to me, babe."
"I know. And I hope you know that you're everything to me," she reciprocated.
"I know, Kate."
She smiled. "I'm lucky to have you. No one has ever made me feel the way that you make me feel. I couldn't ask for anything more in my life. You're really all that I need to be happy."
Jon leaned down and caught her lips with his, as her pressed her body against his. "I hope you know that one day, I really am going to marry you," she spoke against her mouth.
Kate pulled back and pressed her forehead against his, their eyes locking. "That would make me that happiest person on the entire planet," she told him.
"Well, if you married me, you'd make me the happiest man that ever lived."
"To be fair, I just want to make you happy," she replied, giving him a genuine smile.
"You make me very happy."
"Good. And I hope that you know that it doesn't matter to me who has a problem with our relationship. I don't care if it's Renee or Colby. I want to spend forever with you. Anyone who takes issue with that has to deal with it all on their own. I'm going to do what makes me happy. And being with you is what makes me happy."
"I just don't want to cause any problems for your family," Jon admitted.
Kate rolled her eyes. "My brother will get over it. And if he doesn't, I really don't give a shit. He's with Leighla. I don't give him a hard time for being with my best friend. I just want him to be happy. If he loves me, he'll be happy that I found my other half. And if he isn't happy for me, then, he obviously doesn't love me that much. I belong with you. If he has a problem with that, it's his issue. Not mine."
"You really want to be with me that badly? That's how much it means to you to be with me?" he asked her.
Kate nodded. "I want to be with you more than anything."
"I never thought that his would happen for me…especially with you. I've loved you for so long. I honestly thought that this would never happen. I didn't think you'd ever give me a real chance, but now that you have, I'm never letting you go."
The sincerity in his tone, in his words, in his eyes...it touched Kate. She knew that he truly meant every word that came out of his mouth. "We're gonna make it. No matter what."
He nodded slowly. "We will, babe."
"I know we will. We love each other too much to let some stupid bullshit pull us apart."
Jon smiled and pulled his girlfriend in for another kiss.
