Kili knew he wasn't asleep when it happened. His brother and Bifur were asleep and he was sitting on watch. He drew a long breath from his pipe and let out the smoke slowly. Behind him a twig snapped gently and his head whipped round. His hand fell onto the hilt of his sword but a soft feminine voice called out to him.

"I hardly think that's necessary"

Out of the shadows stepped one of the most beautiful women he'd had ever seen, besides Lark. Her hair was a dark brown and her eyes and emerald green. Branches entwined in her hair and her dress was covered with autumn leaves. She glowed like a summer evening and her eyes shone like a midnight moon. The woman smiled at the stricken dwarf and walked over to him quietly. Placing herself down, she looked into his eyes.

"I suppose you've already guessed who I am young Durin"

Kili's eyes widened.

"How? How are you doing that? And yes...you're Yavanna aren't you?"

The Valar nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder. Kili felt his breath catch and Yavanna chuckled lightly before her face fell into a frown.

"I came for a reason young Durin..."

"Please call me Kili"

"Fine Kili...I fear something has happened to my daughter Lark."

Kili's heart twisted at the sound of her name and his fists clenched; knuckles turning white.

"Calm my son. I too worry for her. She is young and reckless but also easily persuaded. I fear that something has happened for I can no longer feel her presence within this realm..."

"How do you mean?!"

"I mean that something has taken hold of her and forced her from her subconscious...I no longer know where her spirit treads or what form she has taken...I do not know who is within her or who can protect her..."

"I will protect her...I made her a promise that I would always protect her!"

The Valar smiled at the young dwarf who'd captured her daughter's heart but within her she knew of what would happen to their future should they fail in their quest.

"Kili you mustn't seek her out..."

"WHAT?!"

"You heard me...she will come to you...you share a bond that spans out of this realm...into my realm...even to the realm of dreams...that is why you dream share...you will always find one another but that is not why I am worried"

"Why are you worried?"

Kili was still trying to process the dream sharing. So that first time he saw her in the wood...she was actually there?! Yavanna looked down at her hands and took a shuddery breath.

"Larka carries something precious as well as her gift. And should the enemy discover it...he could use it to hurt the both of you..."

Kili frowned.

"What is it?"

Yavanna shook her head and solitary tear fell down her cheek.

"All life is precious to the Valar. Just like jewels are to dwarves and light is to elves. My husband and I value Lark over everything, but now we value the both of them even more..."

"Both?"

"She carries your child Kili...and they are both in grave danger."

Kili stared blankly at her before the lights went out and he fainted.

Ok I know it's short but short is sweet is it not? REVIEW PLEASE TTFNXX
