Chapter 37
Kim had just put Syd to bed. She was growing up way to fast in Kim's opinion. It was hard to believe she was already three, going on four years old. Kim turned on the television to see what was on the news. It had been almost a month since Tommy left with his boss, Anton Mercer.
"In other news, Anton Mercer, from Anton Mercer Industries, and his group are said to have perished in an explosion on his island…" the news anchor began to report, but Kim did not hear the rest.
The glass she was holding fell and broke. This could not be happening. Tommy was not dead, he just could not be. Kim gasped when there was a knock at the door. In a daze, Kim walked to the door and opened it. The person standing in front of her was wet and dirty.
"Tommy," Kim gasped. He caught her before hitting the floor. When Kim woke up, she was laying on the couch. Tommy was bending next to her, wet, but at least he was now clean. "I can't believe it. They said you were dead."
Her breathing quickened, and she began to panic. She had thought she had lost him. Tommy took Kim in his arms.
"It's okay. I'm here," Tommy said.
He finally managed to calm Kim down ten minutes later. She gasped when Tommy let her go to get up. For a moment, he thought, he thought she was going to panic again.
"Shit, be careful. There's glass," Kim told him.
"Already cleaned it up," Tommy replied, giving her a wide smile.
Kim looked down, and sure enough, all the glass had been picked up.

It had Tommy's first official day of work as a Science teacher at Reefside High.
"How'd your… first day go?" Kim asked.
Tommy was sweaty, looking disheveled.
"Very eventful I'd say," he said.
"You don't say," Kim replied, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. He sat at the kitchen table and told Kim what had happened. "You better get yourself cleaned up. And remember Jason and Trini are coming over."
"Got it," Tommy said.
Kim shook her head. Of course a monster had to come just as they were getting comfortable in a normal life. Being a Power Ranger, though, you never have a normal life. Not really.
"Mommy, the list," Sydney said.
"Right, so who do want at this little party of your again?" Kim asked.
Kim wrote down the names as Syd said them. Bridge Carson, Elizabeth "Z" Delgado, Jack Landors, and Schuyler "Sky" Tate.

Tommy, Kim, Jason, and Trini were sitting in the living room. Kim had their baby girl, Julie, in her arms. It had been a shock to Tommy and Kim when Jason had called to tell them the news.
"She looks like you, Jason," Kim said as a knock came at the door.
"Expecting others?" Jason asked.
Standing at the door was two of Tommy's students. Ethan James and Conner McKnight.
"Yes?" Tommy asked.
"Dr. Oliver, these dinosaur looking things took Kira
"Kira Ford?" Tommy asked.
"Yes," Ethan said.
"I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with your science teacher?" Jason asked.
"The creatures wanted these old rocks we found," Conner said.
"We thought Dr. Oliver might know what they are," Ethan replied.
His heart sank. It was the gems that were supposed to be in his underground lab. And they went to rescue Kira.

Billy was now over at the house. He was trying to help Tommy with the gems.
"Are you serious?" Tommy asked.
Billy nodded and handed the gems back to the three teenagers in front of them.
"Afraid so. The gems have already bonded with their DNA," he replied.
"Damn it," Tommy said.
Conner, Kira, and Ethan walked back upstairs.
"It chose them, Tommy," Kim told him.
"I know," he said with a sigh.
"They were about our age when we started," Billy replied.
Tommy shook his head and turned to them.
"That's the point," he said. "You think I want them to go through what we did?"
Kim placed her hand on his shoulder.
"They're be just fine with you looking after them," she told him.
"But me? Being a mentor?" Tommy asked.
"Zordon would be proud," Billy said.
Tommy smiled. Kim did too as she kissed Tommy's cheek.
"Now get going to the Cyber café. I'll meet you there," she said.
However, when Kim got there, Tommy was not anywhere to be found.
"Have you seen Tommy?" Kim asked as Conner and Ethan walked up to her.
Kira was up on stage getting ready for her performance.
"No, he hasn't come in," Ethan said.
"Weird. He left before I did," Kim replied.
She looked towards the entrance. She could have sworn she had seen Tommy's jeep outside.
