More about the Courting Mark
I knew the first step would be the one he had the most issues with, "After I agree to your courtship a betrothal or courting mark must be placed. I tilted my neck and placed my hand over the spot on my shoulder he would place it. It is the male that marks the female - as archaic as it may sound, to warn other males away from its female. You would have to bite me." He stilled behind me and I rushed on, "you won't change or kill me, I've feed Souta my blood since he woke to this new life. My body replenishes any blood taken almost instantly." I turned to look at him and gauge his reaction to the explanations so far.
He had halted my movement, brushed my hair from the shoulder I had touch and asked, "Does it matter which side?"
I inhaled sharply at the feel of his lips on my right shoulder. "y-yes" I stuttered in pleasure, "my right side." He hummed in response still lavishing attention to my shoulder.
"What else does the mark mean, besides the property claim you explained a few moments ago." My hackles rose with the word property, but he was right and I pushed the irrational anger away to concentrate on the more important picture.
"The courting mark is step one in the mating ritual. When you place the mark on me you are agreeing to prove you are the best mate for me. There are a number of tests the male needs to pass in order to be able to complete the mating bond. It does not matter what order you complete them in, only that all of them are completed. You will have to prove to be an adequate protector, be able to protect any children we have."
"I cannot father children," he said and I nodded. I knew that vampires cannot, but I honestly doubted it would stay that way.
"I know vampires cannot procreate, but it does not change the fact that my instincts would demand that you prove you could. The second is to prove you can provide for me and any children of our union" he moved to open his mouth and I waved him off quickly. "I know, but it is what it is. Even though you can't have children you still have to prove you can protect and support us; this is usually done through dates and what not. You would need to pretty much show you can take care of us in the way a dominant male should. The last is a trust test, I have to be able to trust you with both my heart and body. It is an intimacy test of sorts; we have to show we are sexually compatible, without actually having intercourse. Once, the test are passed we can mate, no fan fair needed. All that is needed is just you, me, a bed, and privacy. The actual mating ritual takes place while making love." I paused this next part is really embarrassment.
Is brows raised with my blush and intrigued filled him, "than?" he prompted.
I cleared my throat, "you would have to control your," I hummed unable to actually say cum out loud. "We have to finish at the same time. When that happens you have to bite me here." I placed my hand on the spot where my neck and shoulder met on my right side. You have to keep your teeth inside my flesh until the mating ritual is complete. It is very important you remember that, because my power and our souls with rise and surround us. It is possible that it could hurt, but it won't kill you, because of the courting bond. This process ensures you are immune to my Ki; you can't mate someone whose powers could kill you by accident. When you feel your something within you respond to me don't fight it! Once all alien feelings are gone you can extract your teeth and seal the wound. A tattoo like mark will appear in the place you bite me within a few days. This mark shows the level of our bond." I paused thinking briefly about the human and demon versions of marriage.
"Honestly, I feel the demon mating is more binding than a human marriage. Mostly because with human marriage you make a vow with words and paper, when a demon mates they vow with their very souls. It is more binding, it is said that when you mate in the demon way you are insured to meet that mate in your next life. That the bond lasts even after death, I like the idea of being able to find my love even while I am in the afterlife, or when I would be reincarnated."
