Ziva nodded. And Tony kissed the side of her head "Never doubt yourself again. Ever."
She nodded and they both stood up. Grace woke up at the movement and started crying when Ziva went to put her back in the stroller. She grasped at Ziva's clothes and hair and Tony smiled. Ziva stood back up Grace still in her arms and Tony started pushing the stroller. They headed in the direction of the car park but Tony suddenly stopped. Ziva turned to look at him "What's wrong?" She asked.
"Everything that just happened."
Ziva shook her head "You apologised."
"I know but that's not good enough." She looked at him her brows furrowed. "Ziva, I know I hurt you"
"Tony, it does not matter."
"It does"
"Tony…forget it."
"I don't think I can…but I won't mention it, if you don't want me to"
Ziva shook her head "Please, don't"
He nodded and carried on walking. He glanced sideways at her as they walked round the corner to where they had been sat with Jeanne. She was still sat there., She stood up and walked over to them. Tony audibly sighed. "Listen, Tony, Ziva. I'm not here to try and cause problems. I'm here to apologise." She looked at Tony. "Can you give me and Ziva a minute alone, please?"
He looked at Ziva who nodded. He took Grace and turned "I'll wait in the car."
As soon as he walked away Jeanne turned to look at Ziva. "I want to apologise for earlier. I'm not trying to steal your daughter or fiancée…When we were sat there Tony couldn't stop talking about you."
"That is not true. He admitted to me that when he saw me coming he was annoyed"
"Believe me….when he was sat alone he looked depressed so I came over and he started talking about you and a grin just kinda came onto his face…then when I took Grace out of her stroller he told me that you'd be down soon and it wasn't a good idea. Ziva, I know you hate me and I know today really didn't help…but…"
Ziva cut her off "I don't hate you. I have no reason to hate you."
"Tony and I?"
Ziva shrugged "Tony and I weren't dating then"
"No, but you cared for him."
"Of course I did. He is my partner. For those months he was dating you he would disappear and not turn up to plans we had made…yes, it would worry me but it made no difference. I would not hate you for him loving you"
Jeanne nodded "Yeah. But what happened today…I'm sorry. I know you're Grace's Mom and I shouldn't have stood between you and your daughter. Usually when a mother bear knows her cubs in danger she'll do anything. You turned and walked away"
Ziva narrowed her eyes "Firstly: I knew Grace wasn't in danger. She had her father there and I knew he would let no harm come to her and I know you would not do anything to her and secondly: Are you saying I'm a bad mother because I walked away?" Jeanne went to protest but Ziva cut her off "Because if you do you are wrong. I have always put my daughter's needs first. I have always made sure she is okay and I am not a bad mother! She is my main concern and anyone who calls me a bad mother doesn't know me and doesn't know how much I care about my daughter!"
Jeanne nodded "Yeah. I…" She glanced over Ziva's shoulder to Tony who had pulled up in his car. "I think he's waiting for you"
Ziva turned around to Tony who was sat in the driver's seat, his window down, looking at his phone grinning. She turned back to Jeanne "Yes. Goodbye Jeanne."
Jeanne nodded "Bye."
She turned and walked off as Ziva got into the car. Tony looked at her in the rear-view mirror as she got in the back and sat with Grace. "You handled that nicely" He commented with a smile.
She smiled back at him as she did her seat belt up. "I just thought about what you said."
He grinned "Yeah, I thought about what you said too. About your dad and the money…you're right…we do need the help and there is no point in trying to deny that. Plus your dad still hasn't met Grace yet, and we are invading Gibbs's home and it's not fair on him…."
Ziva looked at him "Are you sure?"
"Yeah…I'm positive. You're right. I was just being stubborn."
Ziva nodded "I will call my father tonight" Tony nodded. They were quiet until Tony pulled into a gas station. "Why are we here?"
Tony grinned "It's a gas station, Ziva…guess"
"You don't need gas…the tank is full…I can see the dial from here"
Tony looked at the dial and mentally kicked himself. "Okay…but we need air for the tires…"
Ziva frowned "Since when?"
"Oh I haven't done them in a while…would you mind doing them, while I go and pay?" He pulled up next to the air station and she nodded. They both got out and Ziva went to the air pump and got the gauge to see how much air was needed in each tyre. As she went round she frowned. None of the tyres needed pumped. She stood up and put the gauge back shaking her head. She turned back around to get in the car and saw Tony walking towards her his hand behind his back.
"Tony, you just paid for nothing. They don't need pumped"
He nodded "I know. I didn't pay for them."
She shook her head in confusion. "Then…what did you pay for?"
He pulled his hand out from behind his back brandishing a bunch of flowers. "I know nothing I can do will make up for what I said and did earlier but here"
She took the flowers as he got to her "You didn't need to Tony…but thank you"
He shrugged "Anytime" He got in the car and started it up. She took a sniff of the flowers smiling before getting back in the car. They had been driving for about five minutes when Grace started sneezing, repeatedly. Tony glanced at her in the re-view mirror "Is she okay?"
Ziva moved the flowers to the front passenger seat "I think its them"
"Hay fever?"
"Probably." She looked at Grace who stared at her with wide eyes, confused at why she had started sneezing. Ziva's eyes widened when she looked in Grace's eyes. "Tony…"
"What? Is everything okay?" Tony asked glancing in the re-view mirror, at the road then back again.
"Yes…her eyes…they're changing colour"
Tony's eyes widened "Really? What colour?"
Ziva smiled wide "Green"
"Well that's a least a little bit of evidence she's mine" He said jokingly.
Ziva's brow furrowed "Why wouldn't she be?"
"Ziva, I was joking…I trust you"
She nodded "Good…you obviously never noticed before, she has your smile"
"My smile? Well…I don't know what my smile looks like"
Ziva looked down at Grace and whispered, so Tony didn't hear "Gorgeous"
He turned slightly before facing the road again "I'm sorry…? I think I missed that"
Ziva pretended to be confused "I didn't say anything"
Tony shrugged and smiled to himself. He had, in fact, heard what she said and he couldn't help grinning. Tony turned to look at Ziva and Grace briefly. Grace was wide awake and had started pulling at her straps. "Do you wanna take her to the park?"
Ziva looked at her, trying to get out. "We could. I don't think it would do her any harm…"
Tony nodded and re-directed and headed to the park. When they got there they got out and looked around. There were a lot of teenagers mucking around, seeming to cause trouble. Tony looked at them suspiciously "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea" He said quietly looking around the park. There were no families with their kids, like there should be. Just teenagers sitting around, hoods up, smoking.
Ziva shook her head "I don't see why it became a bad idea just because there are a few teenagers here"
"Ziva…some of the teenagers around this area can be a bit…thuggish…the last time I came here I was eight…a lot has probably changed."
Ziva smiled up at him as she got Grace out. "If anyone of them tries anything, I'll make them regret the day their parents were born"
Tony laughed "Okay…I trust you…" They walked over to the swings for babies and put Grace in one. Tony started pushing her gently and Grace laughed happily. The teenagers looked over at them and nodded to each other standing up heading over.
Ziva who had been watching them carefully turned to Tony. "Looks like I'm about to get to make people regret their parents birth"
Tony glanced up "Ziva…they might just want to talk and not cause trouble"
Ziva shrugged "Have you seen them?"
"Don't you think that's being stereo-typical?"
"Maybe…but they have guns"
Tony looked up at them "Ahh…yeah…maybe it's time to go" He picked Grace up and moved to Ziva. "Ziva, can we go?"
Ziva nodded "Yeah…" she turned to walk away but the people called out to them and what they said made Tony's blood boil.
One….who seemed to be the leader…hit his friends in the chest "Hey you! I'm sure you'll know this" He yelled out to Ziva "What do you call an evil Muslim?"
The others laughed and one answered "Mu Ha Ha Ha Ha Med!" Then went on to say "You might know this one too…What did one terrorist say to the other before boarding their respective airplanes?"
The other one who had told the 'joke' the last time jumped in "Oh! I got it! I slam, you slam, we all slam for Isalm!"
The others jeered and laughed and Tony spun to face them "What did you just say?!"
Ziva stepped forward to Tony. "I can handle it…" She muttered to him.
He took a step back as she walked up to the apparent leader of the group. "Just so you know, I would not know the answer to those questions, due to the fact, I'm not Muslim! I'm Jewish! And I am not a terrorist!"
They laughed and showed her the gun "Be careful with your tone, lady….be careful or your pretty family over there might suffer the consequences…"
Ziva stepped up to the guy "If you bring them into it I will seriously, seriously hurt you…even if you look at them" The guy lifted his eyes to Tony and Ziva hit his chest "Don't!"
He looked back at her "Ooo! Mumu bear is getting her claws out" He called out to the others.
Ziva thought back to her discussion with Jeanne. "Usually when a mother bear knows her cubs in danger she'll do anything" Ziva smirked. Jeanne wasn't wrong. She was willing to do anything. "Oh, yes she has because if you go near either of them, you will regret the day your parents were born"
"Should I be scared honey?" One said stepping towards Tony and Grace. He carried on walking towards them, backwards facing Ziva. "I'm not scared…seriously" He got to Tony and Grace and smiled. "What are you gonna do Mumu bear?"
Ziva smiled "Well…anything a 'Mumu bear' would do to get to her cub…take out the idiot in her way"
The guy raised his eyebrows and looked bored "Bring it"
Ziva laughed harshly and spoke up "I'm giving you this chance to walk away"
He shook his head "I'm going nowhere…I'd like to see you try and get me to move"
Ziva started walking towards him and raised a single eyebrow. She got to him and lifted her hand "One…one more chance"
"Nope. Try me"
Ziva laughed and swung her leg round and swung his feet out from under his legs. He fell straight on his back and she squatted down putting one knee on his chest. "Like I said…whatever she had to do…"
He winced as she used him to lean on to stand up. The others were advancing on her "I wouldn't…"
Tony shook his head "No…I wouldn't either…she's an assassin…"
The groups' faces dropped and they all started backing away. The leader got up and started running, the others following. Ziva turned to Tony "Are you okay?" she asked.
Tony shrugged "Yeah…they didn't do anything…what about you…are you okay?"
Ziva looked at him grinning. He held Grace out to her "I don't wanna stand in the way of Mumu bear and her cub."
Ziva smiled "You're Papa bear…so that's okay"
He grinned and kissed her head "You were right…thugs…"
She leant into him "Yeah, but they did nothing."
"I love you Mumu bear…." He whispered into her hair. He looked at Grace and kissed her cheek "I love you too, baby bear"
Ziva smiled "We love you too...Papa bear"
