Chapter 37: The Army Attacks!
Jack POV
Pitch's televised announcement has plunged the world into chaos. Cities around the globe have already begun to empty, as people scrambled for the hills in a desperate attempt to escape the Boogeyman's attention. Full-scale panic is the order of the millennia. Before any of us had the chance to explain anything, North came back to us and ordered us retreat from our current location. We grabbed whatever and whomever we could find in the building. North used his snow globes and we all went to the North Pole. Bunny decided to suck in his gut and go through the Snow Globe. As much I've missed hanging and playing around in Santa's Workshop, saving the world was the only thing on my mind right now. And when I meant the world, I really mean Elsa. I sit in the private rooms struggling with my thoughts. Elsa, the only one I really love. Needless to say it comes as no surprise that Kai and Gerda Arendelle were surprised in shock that WE, in children's fairy tales, actually exist. North was able to explain everything to them. Luckily they were patient. But what really got them jumping anxiety was seeing Olaf alive.
We've been here for less than a week and I'm still itching for a fight with Pitch and save Elsa. North has his own big screen TV so we could see what was happening in the world. I glance over to the corner and see Heart, in his true form, sitting sad. North explained to me how Pitch was uses his fear to hos advantage. It's kind of ironic, for all the talk he said about trying to avoid giving Pitch an advantage, HE was the one who ends up as that casualty. He looked guilty and felt guilty too. Not sure he'll forgive himself. I don't think her should. And yet I pitied him. From everywhere else North and Pabbie are discussing a counterattack, while Bunny, Tooth, and Sandy are discussing their own. The elves and Yetis are running around the clock making preparations for who knows what kind of counterattack were doing. Kristoff holds Anna close and passionately, to give her some comfort. It looks like it's working. I see the same thing with the Arendelles. I feel completely left out. The only one special to me is captured and I'm just sitting around here doing nothing. North came over to me.
"I'm going to make a couple of calls." He said to me. "I'm going to try and get you other friends here." I knew whom he was referring to.
"Thank you." I murmured. He walks off to his workshop. I was still getting very antsy. "Oh Elsa. Please be alright."
Normal POV
New York was completely abandoned. Like every other major city around the worldtowns and villages were blackened ruins, totally silent, desolated, deserted. Man's empire had passed away, taken swiftly and without error by these creatures who were composed entirely of black sand. Unhampered by the complex systems which make up man, they made and used different bodies according to their needs. They never tired, never slept, and never suffered. There were a dozen dead bodies in the streets, their outlines softened by the Black Sand. All was still, houses locked and empty, shops closed, but looters had helped themselves to wine and food, and outside a jewelers, some gold chains and a watch were scattered on the pavement.
On top of the Empire State Building, Pitch. He looked over this "glorious" site of his. He had taken the world in one fell swoop. Not entirely, but he was close. So close in fact. Yet Pitch felt a little bored. He then looked up into the sky and found an answer.
"Right then. Perhaps a little warm might do some good." He used his plack sands to make a dark cloud. Once he was settled on the black cloud he jet straight up past the atmosphere. "I'm not called the Lord of Galaxies for nothing." He chuckled to himself.
Pitch had entered into space. The planet Earth, while still blue and green, showed black clouds and emitting red colored thunder and lighting storms. He saw some asteroids up ahead and then used his powers to destroy them. Even an all-powerful evil needs to exercise every once in a while. But he looked up and saw a bigger one. This gave him an idea.
"Let's give the humans a little show. That should provide some momentary amusement." He smirked. He held his hand erect and stopped the approaching asteroid. He then used his powers to break the asteroid into pieces. They passed him and head dangerously for Earth. As they entered the atmosphere they immediately burned on entry.
Highways were crowded with evacuees, honking and shouting in all the traffic. Some people had the good decency to walk, to avoid traffic. Though the constant beeping and shouting wasn't making the situation any less dreading.
"Come on! What are you waiting for!? Out of the way!" One of the drivers shouted in anger. It was certainly wasn't helping. Buses where crowded and over flowing with people trying to escape. Along the grassy fields where the walking group was walking on, a little girl looked up in the sky and saw something, to her, pretty.
"Wow. Look mom!" She smiled widely. But when she said it and all the adults looks, they all stared in horror at what they were seeing.
"What's happening up there!?" The mother stared in fear. The pieces of the asteroid Pitch destroyed fell to the Earth fast.
"Shooting stars in the middle of the day?" One of the male evacuees stared in confusion.
Jack POV
The silence, the time, the fact that nothing was happening, it was all driving me nuts. I was just about ready to explode in frustration. Then the TV news broadcast revealed footage of the President (Not Obama. But I do support him.)and all the other world leaders being displayed. They all came together to broadcast a public announcement.
"Citizens of the world! The battle maybe fierce, but you loyal armies from all over the globe is determined to stop this monster Pitch Black whatever it my take! Though these are turbulent times we urge all of you to remain calm!"The president spoke.
"Yeah right. The military won't be able to scratch him." Tooth scoffed.
"We tell you now good people of the world! It is time tocome together, pool in our resources, throw aside old rivalries for the sake of the greater good!" The president said with such conviction. I guess this is a good thing. Convincing the world to come together and stand against Pitch. "The real terror isn't war or atomic bombs, but these so called mythical creatures hiding and waiting for their chance to enslave humanity!"
"Wait what!?" I stood from my chair appalled by what the president just said. "How can he just say that!? How could he say that WE are a threat!?" I was outraged by all this.
"We have already made special task forces and captured a vast number of them!" The footage they show was horrifying. Every mythical creature from mythology and folklore was captured and caged. "There were those who resisted, but we killed them before they could inflict any major damage!"
"Why those no good ankle biters!" Bunny hissed.
"How could they just cage them, let alone kill them!?" Tooth asked appalled by the site. "We didn't do anything wrong!"
"Mark my words good people! We will take back our planet! We will hunt down these evil creatures that are hiding and waiting! They will be captured and interrogated or they will be destroyed! They will be defeated!" He proclaimed his announcement. The entire world was applauding the government's decision.
"So this is how liberty dies." Tooth said. "With thunders of applauds."
"You can't blame them." North came walking in. He heard everything. "They become fearful of something that they don't understand." He explained.
"I understand all that. But that still doesn't excuse that decision! Anything they don't understand, they just try and destroy it!" I growled. "I've seen this kind of thing in X-Men comics. It feels like the X-Men comics are coming to life."
"Let's keep watching." Tooth suggested. She flipped through the channels to other news broadcasts. Almost all of them showed helicopter views of highways covered in traffic.
"That's some awful traffic." Kristoff stared in disbelief.
"Yeah. Everybody wants to get out of every city." Anna agreed.
"Can't say that I blame them. I didn't know better, I would think hiding out in the booties would be safer too." Kristoff said.
"Sure. I guess that makes sense." I agreed while stared at the screen. Other footage coming in showed many cities abandoned.
"None of the stores are open. It's like a ghost town." Kai said trying to ease the tension. Though he was failing miserably.
"Well I suppose no one wants to go to work when they think the world could end any day. Paycheck sure won't help any." Gerda chimed in. "Too bad I guess. I really wanted to get some shopping done for Elsa and Anna." Gerda sighed.
"I know what you mean." Kai agreed. "I was thinking we could grab a little something for our two daughters as well." THIS was was pissing me off!
"How could you two think of shopping at a time like this!?" I stood up and yelled at them. They looked at me all frightened. In fact everyone in Santa's Workshop ooked spooked by my little out burst.
"W-We're sorry." Gerda stammered. I sighed and calmed down.
"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled like that." I sighed and sat back down. "I just fear for Elsa's life."
"You… you care for our eldest daughter a lot. Don't you?" Kai said to me straight.
"Yes." I nodded. "I love her." This was a surprise to both the Arendelle parents. "If anything bad were to happen to her I wouldn't forgive myself. Even for eternity." There was a moment of silence that was enough to let that sink in with the Arendelles. But then…
"We interrupt this programing blog for a special news bulletin!" A news reporter announces. The TV screen instantly changes to a news reporter in front of a camera.
"Hey! At least that guy went into work." Kai nervously smiled trying to lighten up the mood.
"The armies from around the world, now dubbed as the UN Defense Force, has reached the borders of Manhattan, where they will engage the creature known as Pitch Black! Their attack will begin at any moment!" He announces to the world.
"WHAT!?" I shouted in shock. Every single one of us was in shock by all this.
Normal POV
Out in the abandoned streets of Brooklyn, vast armies of tanks and soldiers were making their way across the bridges to New York City. They set up a military perimeter from the Brooklyn shores to the bridges leading into the city. Helicopters and Fighter jets approached and circled around the island. Pitch, who returned to staring out on the balcony of the Empire State Building sees the Fighter Jets flying over head. He then notices the army approaching. But Pitch just smiles at them from atop of the building.
"I've never seen anything like this ladies and gentlemen!" The announcer said loudly over the loud noises from the helicopter he is currently riding. "It's the hole UN Defense Force deployed to one location! The monster won't survive this out poring of military might!" He arrogantly said.
Jack POV
We watch with horror, fear, anger, and frustration at the reckless decision the government made.
"What are they up to?" Kristoff asked in anxiety.
"Fools! This plan isn't gonna work. The only thing there gonna do out there is get themselves killed!" I said.
Normal POV
Pitch just leans on the balcony, looking out to the vast armies. Fighter Jets passing a circling in on his location.
"Interesting. It seems an army of buffoons has calling." Pitch smirked.
"Do you want us to do deal with this sir?" Hans asked from inside the doorway.
"No, that won't be necessary." Pitch smirked.
"Ready you weapons!" The commanding officer shouted through the megaphone. The soldiers followed orders. All guns, bazookas, cannons, missiles launchers, and rocket launchers were all aimed at Pitch. However Pitch still smirked as he jumped of the building and landed on apartment building down below.
"Sir! He's running!" One of the soldiers shouted. Even though they were miles away, Pitch could still hear from a distance.
"Hardly. But I can't have you destroy my new lovely castle now, can I?" He smirked referring to the Empire State Building.
"Weapons hot! Engage!" The commanding officer shouted. "Take that monster out NOW!" Instantly, with out any hesitation, the soldiers open fire. Machine guns, bazookas, tank cannons, missile launchers, and rocket launchers; all weapons fired on Pitch's exact location and every single one of them hitting directly on impact. Planes dropping bombs on Pitch and machine gun firing too.
"They're hitting that apartment building with everything they got folks." The announcer shouted through the noise. "The ordinance is almost deafening…"
Jack POV
"… The assault is tremendous and the military is not letting up!"We watched the recording footage of the military's assault of Pitch. "Honestly, when they finally stop shooting, I don't think there's gonna be any of that thing left!" But I knew better.
"No! Stop! Run away!" I begged.
Normal POV
The apartment building was completely demolished and the military still kept going.
"Stop! Hold your fire!" The commanding officer shouted. But the military ignored his order. They decided not to take any chances. The anxiety and tension looks on there faces explained it all. "Cease fire! Cease fire!" He shouted. THAT broke them out of their mad trance. They all instantly stopped. Every single one of them breathed heavily. Then smiled and laughed in triumph.
"You like that!? Huh, tough guy!?" Chuckled on of the soldiers referring to Pitch's dead body. If there is a dead body when the smoke clears.
"We did it." The commanding officer smiles in relief. He looks through his binoculars to see and prove his statement. But then he sees a silhouetted figure in the smoke. The smoke evaporates to reveal Pitch, alive and well. "No, it can't be!" He stares in disbelief. All the other troops stare in disbelief as well.
"Wha-!? He's alive!?"
"No! That's impossible! What is that thing!?"
But Pitch used his black sands to make the dark cloud and hover high in the then raised his hand and focused his attention to the vast armies.
"I'll have to teach these fools not to go attacking their betters." Pitch smirked. Without hesitation or waiting for any orders the soldiers retreated. All tanks and fighter jets turned in the opposite direction and fled.
Jack POV
We all watched in complete shock and horror at what was happening and what was about to happen.
"It survived!? I don't believe it!"The news reporter panicked. "Pitch is floating in mid air just as though nothing happened!"
"Don't do it, Pitch! Please let them go!" I shouted a beg at the screen. We all then see Pitch's erected hand envelop black sand and darkness. He smirked manically. I knew what was gonna happen next. "NO, PITCH!" I shouted. But it was no use as the TV screen showed Pitch waving his hand in one stroke. With that he unleashed a black sand storm and a black hole combined into one. This explosion of darkness enveloped and devoured any and all it came into contact with. The entire army, as well as a huge portion of Brooklyn was devoured and destroyed. We could all hear the screams of all the soldiers dying in agony and fear. Then the broadcast went static. "Damn it! How dare you!"
Normal POV
Pitch, still hovering on his black sand cloud looks down at his destructive deadly work.
"There. And not a scratch on my new home." Pitch smirked then chuckled manically. The large portion of Brooklyn was in complete ruins. Ruined parts of tanks and fighter jets lay all over the compound, along with the dead body parts of the soldiers who gave their lives in a attempt to stop Pitch.
