Chapter 35

Please Don't Die

Covering her mouth with her hands, Lorena could barely suppress a scream of horror just in time. She couldn't believe it, it was too surreal...

Stephanie was dead... she had broken her neck when she fell down the stairs. And it was all because of her she was no more. Lorena had to fight many times for her life back on the streets, but never, not even once, did she kill somebody during a fight. Her legs started to tremble as the realization struck her.

She killed Stephanie.

But what was she supposed to do? Let her launch right at her with the dagger in her hand and allow her to stab her to death? The servant girl wished she could justify it with that, but she couldn't. Hundreds of thoughts ran through Lorena's mind, but one thought immediately stuck with her. She had killed the queen of Rexxan. But she didn't mean to end the fight like this... It was too surreal to believe, this couldn't be real, this was all a bad dream. But Lorena didn't wake up; this was reality. The queen's corpse, the blood, the broken neck... it was all as real as it could get.

'Hunter!'

Lorena let out a gasp. Oh God, Triple H was still there! There was no time to stand her, completely horrified by the fact she just unintentionally killed the mightiest woman of Rexxan. She had to go save Triple H, before he would succumb to his wound. Or was it already too late...? Lorena didn't want to think about it. No, it couldn't be happening! The love of her life wouldn't die! Lorena turned around and ran up the stairs, her heart pounding in her throat. Oh God please, let him still be alive! Her legs felt heavy, as she was pulling a heavy weight along with her. Right now she felt like she could cry at any moment, but she couldn't. But why? Perhaps she was too panicked to do so. She accidently took Stephanie's life, her love was lying on the ground bleeding to death, this night had become one big nightmare. She couldn't believe it... a little while ago she and Triple H were lying in the bed, relaxing together and enjoying the time they had together. Everything looked so peaceful, it looked perfect... and now this had become the most horrifying night of her life.

Lorena reached the top of the staircase, but there was little time to catch her breath. Triple H was lying near the door of his bedroom, lying in the same position before the servant girl attacked Stephanie in a fit of burning vengeance. His hands were completely covered in blood. And to fuel Lorena's panic even more, the pool of blood had grown bigger.

'No... no!'

The servant girl ran to the wounded king and knelt down next to him. Oh thank God, he was still breathing... but he was very pale due to the massive blood loss.

'Hunter!' Lorena gently shook the king's shoulder, making him let out a soft groan. He opened his eyes and stared at the servant girl.

'Lo...' he groaned weakly.

'Hold on, let me help you!' Lorena carefully helped the King of Kings sitting up. He clenched his eyes shut and let out a hissed in pain; blood trickled out of his wound. The servant girl pressed her hands on the wound, hoping it would stop the bleeding, earning another hiss of pain from Triple H. Oh God, there was so much blood, so much red... it made Lorena dizzy. But she managed to pull herself together from that; she had to save Triple H's life.

His felt light inside his head, but Triple H struggled to not lose consciousness. No, he refused to die right here with a stab wound in his abdomen, caused by his insane wife. Damn it, she got him good. Wait... where was she?

'Where... is Stephanie...?' he whispered.

Lorena looked away and bit on her lower lip. Should she tell him? Should she tell him Stephanie made a long fall down the stairs and was now lying down there with a broken neck?

'She... She is... Hunter, Stephanie is dead.'

The King of Kings slightly widened his eyes. What...? Did he just hear that right? Stephanie? Dead? But how?

'She tried to attack me with a knife. I kicked her in the face to make her get away from me and... she fell down the stairs. Oh God, Hunter, I-I didn't mean to kill her, honestly!'

It was completely quiet between them.

Triple H stared pensively at his wound, which still had blood trickling out of it. He could hardly believe it either... His wife, the woman he had spend ten years of his life with, was dead. That cold, loveless bitch was dead. He looked back at Lorena, who was waiting for his reaction. What would he be thinking of her right now? She was no longer that innocent lover he once knew... she was now the murderer of his wife.

The King of Kings let out a shaky sigh and looked back at the servant girl. He was in so much pain... there might've been a small chance he would survive this night. And it was all because of Stephanie.

'You... did what you had to do.'

Lorena's eyes widened upon hearing those words.

'What? But Hunter, I...'

Just then, the wounded king and the servant girl heard rapid footsteps heading towards their direction. For a moment, Lorena was convinced it were the guards who were rushing towards her to drag her to the dungeon, where she would spend the rest of her life until the day she would die.

'Lorena! What happened here?!' a familiar voice asked.

Lorena's heart cringed when she heard that voice. Oh thank God, it was Alexa.

Alexa and Charlotte looked in horror at the blood. What the hell happened here? Alexa was sound asleep before she was awakened by a woman screaming in the distance. She was immediately wide awake, knowing that the woman who was screaming must have been Lorena. Stephanie had found out about the affair, was the first thing that went through her mind. Dear God, she had to help her! She had jumped out of bed and ran towards Charlotte's bedroom. For this one time, she would need her help. Once she was inside, she violently shook Charlotte's shoulder, pleading for her to wake up. But just by then, the screaming had stopped... While running with Charlotte towards the king bedroom, Alexa already feared they were too late to save her friend.

'Please, go get help!' Lorena cried hysterically, tears rolling down her face. 'He's going to die if you don't get help right now!'

'R-right! Hang in there, we'll be right back! Come with me, Charlotte!'

Charlotte nodded and along with Alexa, she ran away to search for the medic.

'Don't worry, Hunter...' Lorena whispered, trying to soothe the king. 'Help is on its way, just hold on for that time...'

'I... I will try.' Triple H groaned. Damn, that medic would better be here in time, his head had never felt this light before. Black spots clouded his sight, but he fought them off. He refused to die like this, not in front of Lorena.

'I'm so sorry of what I've done... This is unforgivable...' the servant girl sobbed.

'It was you or her, Lorena... Would you have let her kill you?'

'I wish I could justify it Hunter, I really do... but I can't.' Lorena shook her head. 'I killed her... oh God, I can't believe it...'

'Sssh...' Triple H lifted his bloody hand and gently touched the servant girl's cheek, wanting to calm her down a bit. Lorena closed her eyes and sighed, more tears ran down her cheeks. This could be the very last time he would touch her like this, she wanted to treasure it forever.

'Please don't go...' Lorena whispered. 'I love you...'

Despite the pain, Triple H managed to smile a little bit. Well, if he would die right now, at least he would die with the woman he loved so much on his side. But he had to keep on fighting, for her.

Moments later, they heard footsteps heading their way. The medic rushed around the corner, followed by Seth, Alexa and Charlotte.

'Oh thank God... Please, help him!' Lorena pleaded.

The medic knelt down next to the servant girl. 'He has lost a lot of blood, we need to get him to his bed right now! I'll see what I can do to save him... Captain, help me to get him inside!'

'Right.'

Along with the medic, Seth helped Triple H to get up. Supported by the two men, the King of Kings was escorted to his bedroom. When they laid him down on the bed, he let out a loud groan of pain. Lorena managed to get up and wanted to go inside as well, but the medic forbid her of doing so. 'I need to concentrate.' He shut the door in front of her with a loud thud.

'Lorena, come here...' Alexa grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a gentle, soothing embrace. The servant girl rested her head against her friend's shoulder and cried uncontrollably, clenching her eyes shut. Oh God please, let him live...

'It's going to be alright...' Alexa said with a soothing voice. 'Don't be scared...'

Lorena wished she could believe her words. A loud bellow of pain could be heard inside the bedroom, making more tears flow down her cheeks.
