Chapter 36: The Battle of Theed Part I
Courtyard
As the two armies draw closer on the courtyard, everyone begins to scream at one another before both armies clash like ocean waves crashing down upon rocks. Soon the capital, that once stood for peace and serenity, now became a battlefield as the Battle of Theed had begun.
With his troops following him while they shoot the assassins in front of him, Derric holds his sword in front of him when a couple of assassins begin to aim their blasters at him before they start to shoot him. Derric blocks most of the bullets flying at him and watches them ricochet off his black energy sword while running toward the assassins.
After the assassins had spent most of their ammunition on Derric, they empty their magazines and begin to reload their blasters. But this was just what Derric wanted. Seeing the assasins distracted, gave him the perfect opportunity to leap toward one of the assassins before running across his body and jump into a large crowd of unprepared assassins.
As Derric lands on top of a couple of assassins he holds his blade to the side before attacking five assassins around him. He first starts off with an assassin on his right where he sees several assassins aim their blasters at him. He leaps behind the assassin to his right before the other assassins open fire and kill their fellow brother.
Using the dead Assassin's body as a shield Derric runs toward a couple of assassins in front of him and throws the dead body on top of one of them before slashing the other asssassin's body across his chest. After he killed that assassin he sees the other assassin struggling to get the dead body off of him. In an instant, Derric stabs the dead body in the center of the back before the blade pierces through the dead corpse and goes through the other Assassin's body, killing him.
Derric turns around and sees two more assassins standing behind him. One of them quickly reloads his blaster before firing several shots at Derric. Derric is able to block the shots before lunging toward him and cutting the gun in half followed by a clean cut to the head. The other assassin, who had just watch his fellow comrades get torn apart by this single one man, struggles to reload his blaster. But before he could even put in a new magazine into the gun, Derric has already thrusted his blade into his chest.
As he watched the Assassin's body fall to the ground, he sees four assassins standing in front of him with all of their blasters aimed at him. Derric sees them and knows that even he can't deflect all of their bullets without getting hit. But he soon realizes that if he falls in this battlefield, he will be reunited with his brothers.
He holds his sword close to his chest and runs toward the assassins. As the assassins are about to pull the triggers on their blasters, they are suddenly pushed a few feet above the ground before they fall flat on their backs.
Derric is at first confused at what has just happened but soon turns around and sees Barris with her blue lightsaber in one hand and an opened hand placed in front of her, as she had used the force to push those assassins away from him. "Thanks Barriss." He said to her as he began to walk closer to her. "You know I could have taken them."
"I know." She said with a smile across her face. "But I thought that today will not be the day you die."
Derric returns a smile and begins to see the four assassins slowly get back up on their feet. "Well…" Derric said while he and Barriss stood bye each other with their sabers held close to them. "…looks like I'm going to have to wait a little longer." Derric said, telling his friend that he has no intentions on dying today. "Shall we?"
Barriss replies with a nod and smile on her face before the two of them charge toward the assassins in front of them. Derric runs to an assassin, who is barely getting on his feet, and slices his left arm off and turns to see another assassin rise up and aim his rifle at him. He runs toward that assassin and pushes the gun away from him before thrusting his sword into the Assassin's neck.
At the same time, Barriss dashes toward two assassins, who have already gotten up, who are now beginning to open fire on her. She blocks a few bullets before deflecting one of them into one of their shoulders causing the Assassin to fall to the ground while squeezing on the trigger, shooting the other assassin in the face. With those assassins dead, the two of them knew that they we're going to survive this battle, now that they had each other's back.
As the battle continued on, many assassins and royal guards as each of them fight for the city of Theed. The assassins, led by their leader Desric, are fighting for this city so that they can watch it burn to the ground. The guards, led by Aaron and his friends, are fighting to reclaim the city that stands for peace.
With the battle going on, Gace, Anakin, and Rex are standing by each other while they kill any assassin that comes near them. Grace and Rex hide behind several large pillars while they shoot any assassin that is in their sights while Anakin stands in front of them and blocks several bullets that are fired at him, while also slashing their bodies in half.
Although he can kill a couple of assassins, he still feels a lot of pain from his unhealed wounds, making him a bit more slow than he usually is.
As the fight goes on, Anakin sees a few assassins standing by him before two of them take out a their pistols while the third one in the middle, who was a young woman, unsheathes a black sword of pure energy.
As the two assassins walk toward him, they soon begin to fire their pistols at him. Anakin quickly begins to block several of the bullets before running toward one of them and slicing both of his hands off before cutting off the Assassin's head. As his lightsaber cuts clean through the Assassin's neck, He redirects his blade and thrusts it into the other assassin's stomach.
After he killed those two assassins, he soon begins to feels some pain coming from his ribs and begins to ache in pain. The female assassin walking toward him gives a small laugh as she gives him an evil smile. "You are weak Skywalker." She said as she begins to circle around him. "I now see why you failed your masters…and your padawan."
As soon as she mentioned that he failed to protect Ahsoka, Anakin lunges toward her with his lightsaber and throws a lash to her left arm. The young Assassin sees this and blocks his attack with her sword, before throwing to right hooks to his ribs. When she threw those two punches, Anakin aches in pain and stumbles back a few feeet before he attempts to kill her again.
He throws a downward slash on her body in full rage, but the Assassin places her sword above her head and blocks Anakin's attack. With their swords locked in place, Anakin presses down on her as she feels a great amount of weight coming down on her sword and se soon goes down on one knee. However as she went down she noticed how Anakin's feet were perfectly exposed.
She then decides to change her game and swipes her right foot across both Anakin's feet, causing him to fall. As the Jedi Knight fell, the Assassin kicks his lightsaber out of his hand as she cart wheeled away from him.
When Anakin fell flat on his back, the Assassin stands in front of him and paces back and forth. "Get up Skywalker!" She demanded him as she watched him place his hands on his ribs. "I won't let a simple fall become your demise."
While Grace and Rex were battling the assassins, by shooting each and every one of them from the a safe distance, Grace notices that Anakin is on the ground while an assassin is ready to cut his head off with her sword. With out any hesitation, Grace runs toward Anakin's lightsaber and ignites the blue blade before leaping over to the assassin and prevents her from decapitating Anakin.
The Assassin is surprised to see the young girls, who once swore an oath to defend their order, protect the fallen Jedi. "Protecting your friend huh…that's very of noble of you." She said before she slapped Grace across the face, causing Grace to stumble back. Grace places her hand beneath her nose and notices that she's bleeding. "Too bad you chose the wrong side."
As the two young girls begin to circle each other like animals fighting for supremecy, Rex notices that his general is lying defense less while the two girls prepare to fight. He runs over to Anakin and grabs onto his general. "I got you sir." He said before he began to pull Anakin behind one of the large pillars, hoping that it'll be safe for him to rest.
"Grace…" Anakin said as he struggled to say a single word while he was being pulled away.
"Try not to move sir." Rex said to his commanding officer, trying to make sure that his general doesn't hurt himself more.
Grace looks behind and sees Rex pull Anakin to safety before she focuses her attention toward the assassin. The young assassin, with white skin and black hair, stops moving and makes the first strike by slashing at Grace's throat. Grace sees the attack coming and is quick enough to hold up Anakin's lightsaber and blocks the attack before the sword could cut her head off.
Grace returns the favor by pushing the Assassin's sword away from her face and tries to cut her head off too. The young Assassin blocks the attack and tries to cut off Grace's right arm by throwing a side slash. Grace blocks the attack with her lightsaber and sees that her feet a well placed for an attack.
Grace throws a side swipe with her left leg and causes the Assassin to fall down and expose her back. Grace sees this opportunity and attempts to stab her while she's on the ground, but the Assassin quickly rolls out of the way before Grace stabs the ground. The Assassin gets back up on her feet with ease and looks over at Grace with a smile.
Grace lunges toward her and tries to cut off one her arms by throwing multiple slashes at lightning speed. The Assassin, however, is able to block all of Grace's attacks with her black sword before he kicks Grace in the chest.
When the Assassins foot kicked her in the chest, Grace stumbles back a little bit and sees that this Assassin is as good as her. She knows that if she has to beat her, she must catch her by surprise. In an instant she hatches an idea and pulls out her pistol beneath her right arm and lunges toward the Assassin with her lightsaber in her right hand and her pistol in her left hand.
As she runs toward the Assassin, she squeezes the trigger and watches a storm of bullets fly toward the Assassin. The Assassin is surprised and is unable to block all of the bullets when one of them catches her on her left shoulder.
When the Assassin get's shot by the bullet, Graces sees her drop her sword as she places her right hand above the wound. Grace then moves quickly as she uses her lightsaber to cut the Assassin's right arm completely off. As the blade goes through her arm, the Assassin's face is completely shocked to see her arm get cut off right in front of her, before Grace uses her right boot to kick her in the face.
As the Assassin falls onto the hard ground, with her left shoulder shot and her right arm completely cut off, Grace walks over to her. "You…cannot…save them all." The Assassin said as she struggled to say a few words. "It is useless. You cannot save them…from the fire…you will all bur-" BANG! The Assassin is soon silenced when Grace puts a bullet in her head.
"Shut up." Grace said to the dead assassin as she placed her pistol back in her holster, while she walks over to Rex to see if Anakin is still alive. She kneels down to him and hands back his lightsaber only to receive a simple nod, thanking her for giving him back his lightsaber.
But in truth, Grace knew that he thanked her for saving his life and that he had never felt so wrong in his entire life. Anakin knew that he had doubts about Aaron and his friends but after what he saw, he knew that Aaron and his friends were not like the assassins that are fighting in this battle.
As the sun began to rise toward the center of the sky, the battle continued on where countless rebels and assassins began to fall. After the two armies first clashed with one another, Desric and Aaron fought through countless enemies as they searched for each other.
At the beginning of the battle, Desric slowly walked down the steps of the palace as he began to slam his fist into every royal guard who was brave enough to stand against him. Those who fought him were easily defeated with a swift and simple death, as Desric would break their necks and spines.
Aaron on the other hand, was one of the first to run into the fray when he unsheathed his sword and dove, feet first, into the large crowd of assassins. Using his sword, Aaron would cut down any assassin that stood in his way and would shoot other assassins, with his pistol, that got near him. He was so determined to find Desric on the battlefield and was ready to face him again. The last time he faced him, he let his emotions get in the way and that almost cost him his life. Now that he knows what Desric is capable of, he will have to careful when finally confronts him after so long.
In the midst of the battle, Aaron sees three assassins standing before him as he makes his way toward the entrance of the palace. The first assassin pulls out his blade while a female assassin standing on his right side pull out a blaster and a male assassin standing on his left side pull out a blaster as well.
The leader of the three assassins takes a step back while the other two assassins stand forward and fire upon Aaron. Aaron quickly reacts by blocking several shots that were coming at his arms, chest and head. While he continues to block the shots being fired, he runs toward the three assassins and is ready to return the favor.
Aaron quickly runs over to the male assassin, firing his blaster at him, and uses his black sword to cut the gun in half. Without any weapon to protect himself, Aaron soon ends the Assassin's life when he gives a good clean cut across the neck before the Assassin's head rolls off his body. With that assassin taken care of, Aaron focuses his attention on the female assassin, as she is shocked on horror of what she just witnessed. Aaron sees her raising her gun and gives an upward diagonal cut across her arms, cutting them completely off, while his blade cuts across her chest.
With two down and only one to go, Aaron looks over at the third and final assassin standing before him. Seeing that he is focused only on him, the Assassin begins to circle around him while he holds his sword to the side. Aaron grips the handle of his sword tight as he watches the Assassin circle him like a shark. It isn't too long until the Assassin makes the first move and lunges at Aaron before giving a downward slash.
Aaron sees the attack and blocks it with his sword as both blades clash above Aaron's head. Aaron pushes the sword away from him and gives a right swing toward the Assassin's exposed ribs. However the Assassin is quick enough to see the attack coming and blocks Aaron's sword with his. Aaron thinks fast and slams his head into the Assassin's head, making him a bit dazed and confused.
Aaron seizes this moment and lunges toward the Assassin. The Assassin sees Aaron coming at him at full speed and gives a left swing at Aaron's body. However Aaron twirls around the Assassin fast enough to get behind him, avoiding the Assassin's attack, and piercing his exposed back with his sword. As Aaron retracts his blade from the Assassin's body he watches the male Assassin get down on both knees before falling face first onto the ground, dead.
While Aaron was searching the battlefield for the one man he truly wanted to face, Desric was searching for Aaron as well. As he made his way through the battlefield, Desric spots Aaron fighting three assassins. He watches Aaron cut off one of their heads while slashing one of them across the chest before he focuses his attention on the third. As he makes his way toward Aaron, two royal guards step in front of him with blasters pointing at him.
The guards open fire and Desric is quick enough to pull out his sword and activate as the bullets are being fired at him. He sees the shots coming at him and uses his sword to block the shots that were aimed at his head, shoulders, and chest before lunging at the first guard he saw and cutting his hands completely off before kicking the second guard, in the chest, knocking him down to the ground.
With one guard on the ground he puts his sword close to the Guard's head and thrusts it into the Guard's mouth and watches his blade burn a hole on the other side of his head. He looks behind and sees the other guard get up and removes his sword from the dead guard's head and focuses his attention on the remaining guard.
As he looks over at the Guard, Desric retracts his sword and places it on the side of his belt before placing his fists above his face. The Guard holds his fists up high and lunges over at Desric. He throws a left hook at Desric's face, but Desirc is quick enough to duck beneath the punch before throwing a right uppercut to the Guard's ribs. The force of the punch is so large, that the Guard quickly wraps his hands around his ribs while Desric stands up and quickly throws his left elbow down upon the Guards exposed back.
The Guard is defenseless. With an injured back, and possibly some broken ribs, Desric decides to quickly end the Guard's life when he looks down on the injured Guard, and wraps his arms around the back of the Guards neck. Desric feels the Guard struggling to break free, but Desric uses all the strength to kill the guard.
Crack! Desric soon hears the Guard's neck break before seeing his struggling body become motionless. Desrcic drops the lifeless body to the ground while watching Aaron stab an assassin behind his back before retracting his sword from the Assassin's dead body. He looks back down at the two dead bodies and spits on both corpses. Hopefully you'll be more of a match for than these pathetic rebels. Desric thought to himself as he bagn to walk over to Aaron.
After Aaron had killed all three assassins, he takes a couple of deep breaths as he looks down at all three dead assassins. The fight he had with all three of them took a little bit of his energy, but he knew he still had more than enough energy to take on Desric.
"You have improved since the last time I saw you." Aaron hears that voice come from behind him. He turns around and sees the man who took his family, tortured him, left him for dead, frame him for his crimes, and attack his close friend, Ahsoka. He watches Desric walk over to him as the battle continued.
"Murderer." Aaron said while Desric walked over to him. He remembered all the pain and suffering he witnessed when he watched Desric slaughter his family, and his heart soon begins to enrage as he sees his family's killer approach him.
"So you finally found out?" Desric asked, not surprised that Aaron finally found out about what he did to his family on Saleucami.
"You killed my mother! My father! My sister! And then you burrowed your way into my head with lies! Misdirected my vengeance! TURNED ME INTO A KILLER LIKE YOU" Aaron aggressively said to Desric. Angry about how Desric killed his family and manipulated his life.
"I did what I had to do to turn you into the assassin you were meant to become. You're family were loose ends that needed to be dealt with." Desric said proudly, showing Aaron that he felt no regret with killing every member of Aaron's family. In an instantt Aaron punches Desric alongside the jaw out of rage and watches Desric fall to the ground.
"Get up!" Aaron replied while he puts his sword away and intends to beat Desric to a pulp with his bare hands."For my family, I will have my vengeance!"
Desric smiles while he shakes his head to Aaron. "You're a fool Aaron." He said with a small smile as he got up on his feet. "This time I intend to make sure you stay dead!" Without any hesitation, lunges at Aaron with lightning speed and throws a downward right hook punch toward Aaron's head. Aaron reacts just in time, to use both of his hands to cover the top of his head before feeling Desric's powerful fist punch on top of his arms.
Aaron uses his left forearm to push Desric's right fist away before throwing a right hook toward Desric's face. Desric sees the attack coming and blocks the punch with his left forearm, like a shield, and uses his right fist to punch Aaron in the chest, causing him to stumble away from him.
After Aaron stumbles back, he looks over at Desric and sees him with a smirk on his face. Aaron at first feels nothing but rage in his heart, but realizes he can not let his emotions get the best of him or it will be the reason why Desric will get the upper hand on him.
He takes a small breath before raising his fists up in front of his face. He soon runs over to Desric and notices that Desric is throwing a left hook punch. He blocks Desric's punch with his right forearm before Desric throws a right hook punch. He quickly blocks the other punch with his left forearm before pushing Desric's arms away and throwing two punches toward Desric's face, and kicking him in the chest, knocking him down to the ground.
Desric quickly gets up and feels something coming down his nose. He places his hand beneath his nose and sees that there is blood on his hand. He wipes away the blood coming from his nose and gives a smirk at Aaron. He lunges over at Aaron and pushes Aaron's jabs aside and elbows him in the face.
After Desric elbowed him in the face, Aaron soon feels Desric's left knee hit him in the gut. Almost instantly Aaron falls down on one knee and soon feels Desric's arms wrap around his kneck, squeezing the life out of him. As he beginning to slip out of conscious he knows that he has to think fast if he is to beat Desric. In an instant he notices that he is close to Desric's exposed legs.
He wraps his arms around Desric's left leg and soon rams his body against Desric, causing him to fall down before he is able to break his neck. As soon as he falls down to the ground Desric loosens his grip on Aaron's neck, giving Aaron the perfect opportunity to break free and soon have the upper advantage.
With Desric's body beneath him, and his left knee pinning down Desric's right arm, Aaron begins to return the favor for what Desric has done to his life. Aaron immediately begins to punch Desric repeatedly in the face with his bare hands. As he continuously punches Desric in the face, he feels all the rage within him come out with every punch to the face.
As he punches Desric's face, Desric uses his free left arm to punch Aaron on the side of his head, knocking him off of his body. As Aaron falls off of him, Desric rolls to the side and reaches for something inside his armor. Aaron sees this and grabs his sword and ignites the black blade before Desric pulls out a small black device with a red button."There's only one way this ends Aaron!" Desric said. "Either you die...or I do!"
Before Aaron could blink twice, Desric presses down on the button and suddenly hears a beeping noise come from every security camera near the palace. Little did he know that when Desric installed the security cameras, he also had them rigged with enough explosives to level a small building. In an instant every camera in the capital, begins to explode, releasing balls of fire as the ground shook and both armies stumbled as almost every building near the palace explode.
The Cursed Angel
After Aaron and his friends left for Theed, Marcus and Jaybo were the only two people inside The Cursed Angel. When they were about to join Aaron and his friends to retake the fallen city, Aaron felt that it would be best for them to remain in the ship until the fighting was over. As Aaron felt that this was a hard decision for him to make, the two of them felt that he was both right and wrong about this decision.
Marcus and Jaybo felt that he was right that the men they were fighting have had years of training and will kill them on sight. However they felt that Aaron would need all of the help he could get if he was going to defeat them.
As they sat around a small circular table, the two of them were playing simple game of chess. With Marcus beating Jaybo, he moves one of his pieces to take out one of Jaybo's pieces. "Good move." Jaybo said to him while he was thinking of his next move. But suddenly they feel the ship shake while they heard a small rumbling noise coming from outside.
"What was that?" Marcus said before he left the table to go outside to see what had just happened. Jaybo shortly follows him and activates the ships main door as the two of them walked outside and saw a large cloud of black smoke covering the city of Theed.
Marcus looks over at the burning city and wonders if his friends are okay. "We cannot stay here anymore." He said to Jaybo. "We need to go help them. Now!"
"But you heard what Aaron said!" Jaybo replied. "We need to stay here!"
Marcus turns toward Jaybo and walks over to him. "Our friends are out there." He said while he placed his hands on his shoulders. "We cannot stay here and watch them die. There must be something we could use to help them."
Jaybo's eyes open wide as he remembers that there is a way to help Aaron. "I think I may have something to help them." He said. "Follow me!"
Jaybo's Room
As they walked toward Jaybo's room, Jaybo explained to Marcus that he had something to help Aaron and his friends. "Since we can't use the ship to help Aaron, because Desric's men are well armed with rocket launchers, I have these things that'll help Aaron and his army."
He walks over to a closet and Marcus sees about a dozen of crates with a red circular light in the center of each crate. He presses the circular light before it is lit up in bright red and starts to make a lot of noise. Marcus looks inside the closet and a smile grows onto his face. "These will do."
