Sorry for the wait guys but between work and Super Smash Bros I've really not had time to write. It would have been up yesterday but I got the code for the demo of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and spent a while playing that.

I also just got an upgrade on my laptop from Open Office to Microsoft Word which is a far superior program. I am hopeful that Microsoft Word will point out some of my SPG failures that Open Office failed to pick up on.

Ash walked into the waiting lounge and was shocked to find that almost everyone was clapping, the trio felt immediately embarrassed by the attention they were receiving. Ash suddenly felt Kirlia and Glaceon bury their faces into his chest and his face in an attempt to hide their bright red cheeks. Ash was wishing that he could do the same as them right now; instead he had to walk through the still applauding coordinators. He kept his head lowered to hide his burning cheeks and he mumbled the odd thanks to everyone.

He finally got to Salem and May after what felt like an eternity and he sat down between them. Ash was relieved to see that nobody was paying attention to him, Kirlia and Glaceon anymore. They were now watching the television as the coordinator named Drew was performing. Ash chuckled as he remembered the nickname Meowth had given Drew. Ash turned his attention from the television to his daughters who still had their faces buried in his face and chest. He tightened his hold on Kirlia with his left arm and used his right hand to gently stroke Glaceon's head.

"It's alright now you two. They aren't looking at us." Ash murmured softly.

Glaceon and Kirlia pulled their faces away from where they had been buried and looked around the room. They were glad that the attention was no longer on them, Glaceon leapt off of Ash's shoulders and got into his lap which allowed him to wrap his spare arm around the ice type. Ash smiled at his daughters as he ran his fingers through Kirlia's hair and scratched behind Glaceon's ear making both of them sigh in content.

"That was a good performance Ash. Having them evolve at the end was a nice touch." May said.

"I wish I could take credit for that but I had nothing to do with it. The idea to evolve was a surprise that they had been planning for me."

Ash, Salem and May continued to talk about his performance until a shadow suddenly loomed over Ash. He looked up and saw Drew looking down at him. May got to her feet and squared up to Drew, she glared angrily at the green haired coordinator but Drew wasn't fazed and flicked his hair out of his face.

"What do you want Drew?" May asked icily.

"I just wanted to come and see the Kirlia and shiny Glaceon that everyone's talking about." Drew replied.

"Well you've seen them now get lost." May growled.

Drew simply ignored her and looked at Ash, Kirlia and Glaceon.

"That was an okay performance for a newbie. But it's obvious that those two are wasted with you, you should give them to a proper coordinator who could unleash their full contest potential."

Ash clenched his fists and glared at the green haired coordinator feeling incredibly tempted to teach him a lesson, not just for what he's said just now but also for what he's said to May before and after every single contest they had both participated in. At the same time Glaceon and Ralts growled angrily at Drew, the former wanted to freeze his had while the latter wanted to throw him across the room. Rai and Meowth felt just as angry and sparks of electricity were crackling off them. Ash calmed himself down; he knew that hitting the guy would do them no good. He nodded to Rai and Meowth who reluctantly calmed down too, Glaceon and Kirlia on the other hand were still feeling furious. Ash tightened his hold and his daughters who looked at him; he lowered his head so that his lips were next to their ears.

"Calm down you two. I'll deal with this." Ash whispered.

Glaceon and Kirlia nodded and calmed themselves down thanks to the presence of their dad who was still holding them close. Ash raised his head and met Drew's line of sight, the coordinator flinched due to the glare that Ash was giving him.

"You know you talk very tough for someone who doesn't have a single ribbon." Ash said.

Ash smirked as he saw Drew glare at him as his eye twitched.

"Shut up." Drew growled.

"May's told me all about how you've done in the contests so far. So grasshead tell me, why don't you have a ribbon yet? Is it because you can't handle the pressure of a final? Or is it because you're just not good enough to be a strong coordinator?"

Drew had turned bright red in both anger and embarrassment; he decided against saying anything back to Ash and instead stormed away. Ash chuckled as he watched Drew stomp over to the other side of the room; he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see Salem smiling at him.

"Nice work." Salem complemented.

"Yeah I've never seen anyone rile up Drew like that so easily." May added.

"Thanks. Hey May you'd better get on stage I believe they called you up while grasshead was annoying us."

May looked at the television and saw that it was her profile being displayed on the main screen in the arena.

"Oh damn it, you're right. Wish me luck." May said.

May ran out of the room and was on stage moments later. Ash and Salem watched in awe as May put on an incredibly complex and beautiful performance. The Hoenn native walked into the lounge and over to Ash and Salem who were quick to compliment her. May blushed and mumbled thanks in response. Salem was called up not too long after and also put on a good show with Plusle and Minun. She walked back to Ash and May and the trio was left to wait until the other appeals had finished and the judges had made up their minds.

It had been an hour since the final appeal had been performed and Ash, Salem, May and their Pokémon were starting to get anxious. Ash had started pacing back and forth alongside Glaceon and Kirlia who were both worried that maybe their performance hadn't been good enough.

"What's taking them so damn long?" Ash asked.

"I don't know, usually the judges make their decisions pretty quickly, then again there are a lot more people participating than usual and there were a lot of very impressive performances so choosing just thirty two will be incredibly hard for them." May replied.

"Yeah that's true." Ash said.

Ash sighed and sat down next to Salem, Glaceon and Kirlia quickly leapt on to his lap and nuzzled him which immediately took his mind off of everything. Suddenly the televisions in the room that had been showing highlights of the appeal round changed to a new channel which showed thirty two portraits. Ash, May and Salem looked at the screen, all of them hoping that the three of them had qualified for the knockout stage. To their relief and joy they had all made it through to the next round.

"Awesome we all qualified." May said enthusiastically

"I wonder who we'll be facing in the next round." Salem said.

They continued to watch the screen as the images were rearranged so that they were now in a knockout table. May looked pleased, Salem looked confused and Ash was smirking as they saw who their opponents were.

"Wonderful, I get a chance to knock that asshole down a few pegs"

Glaceon, Kirlia, Rai, Chu, Meowth, May and Salem quickly looked to see who he'd been paired with and weren't surprised to see that his opponent was Drew. A confident, determined look appeared on Glaceon and Kirlia's faces; they had been hoping to get a shot at grasshead and were happy that they wouldn't have to wait long.

Everyone turned their attention to Salem who was looking around the room, trying to spot her opponent.

"Hey Salem who are you facing?" May asked.

Salem stopped her search and looked at Ash and May.

"I'm against someone called Solidad." Salem replied.

Ash and May shared a look and then looked sympathetically at Salem.

"What?" Salem asked.

"Solidad is one of the top five coordinators right now. So far she hasn't been beaten this season." May informed.

"So that means." Salem started.

"You're kinda screwed." Ash finished.

"Thanks Ash." Salem muttered dejectedly.

Ash immediately regretted what he said and he quickly pulled his girlfriend into a hug which she returned.

"I'm sorry Salem." Ash said.

Salem nodded but the dejected look was still on her face.

"Listen, we entered this contest for a bit of fun. Neither of us honestly expected to win."

Salem looked up at Ash and sighed.

"Yeah I guess you're right. I just don't want to be crushed." Salem replied.

"Hey Solidad isn't invincible, trust me when I say that you will take some points from her." May said.

"Thanks May, by the way who are you against?" Salem asked.

"I'm against Harley. He's a coordinator I've battled before and he's as devious as they come." May answered.

"Who's Harley?" Ash asked.

May looked around the room and quickly found Harley as he did stand out from the crowd thanks to his costume.

"He's the guy over there who's dressed as a Cacturne." May said as she pointed to the left

Ash and Salem looked where May was pointing and saw that there was indeed a guy dressed as a Cacturne

"Why is he dressed like that?" Salem asked.

May merely shrugged as the trio watched Harley.

"I don't know, maybe he has some kind of weird fetish." May replied.

Silence took over for a few moments and then Ash, May, Salem, Rai, Chu and Meowth burst out laughing which drew strange looks from several of the other participants as well as Glaceon and Kirlia who weren't really sure what was so funny. The group were laughing so much that they almost didn't hear the announcers voice through the speaker system.

"Would Ash Ketchum and Drew please come to the stage." the announcer said.

The group stopped laughing immediately and they saw Drew quickly make his way out of the room. Ash then got up and headed towards the door with Glaceon and Kirlia either side of him. They left the room and walked on to the stage; they stood in the box opposite to Drew and smirked at the green haired coordinator who still seemed pissed from before.

Drew was annoyed by the smirks on their faces and he was determined to wipe those irritating smirks off their faces. He took a pair of Pokéballs off his belt and held them up.

"Roselia, Masquerain dazzle them all."

Drew threw the Pokéballs and they released a series of firework like explosions as Roselia and Masquerain got into a combat stance. The dust created by the fireworks shimmered in the air and they gracefully drifted to the ground. Ash grimaced as an irritating symphony of screams came from a section of the crowd, Ash looked at where the screams came from and saw a bunch of scantily clad girls waving at Drew. Ash turned his attention back to Drew and saw that he was waving back at the girls while winking and occasionally blowing kisses at them. The coordinator then walked over to the section of the crowd and pulled out a rose that he presented to one of the girls.

'Where does he keep all those roses?' Ash wondered.

"I shall win this battle for you my dear." Drew said as he gave the girl the rose.

"Arceus he's such a douche bag." Ash muttered as he face palmed.

Glaceon and Kirlia snickered at their dads comment, they looked at their opponents and saw that they were shaking their heads and had an annoyed look on their faces.

'Hey!' Glaceon called to them.

Roselia and Masquerain stopped looking at their trainer and focused on the Eeveelution.

'Does he usually do this?' the ice type asked.

Roselia and Masquerain looked at their trainer who had starting signing autographs and sighed.

'Unfortunately, yes.' Roselia replied.

'How do you get him to stop?' Kirlia asked.

'Well I used to hit him with a Bubble which would annoy him and make him come back but we started to get tired of that so we decided on something different.' Masquerain replied.

'What do you do now then?" Glaceon asked.

Glaceon and Kirlia were confused to see Roselia briefly look at the main screen and then look back at them.

'Wait ten seconds and you'll see.' Roselia said.

Glaceon and Kirlia waited as they were told, ten seconds later the portraits of Drew, Masquerain and Roselia faded.

"Since Drew was not in the coordinators box in time he has been disqualified. So the winner is Ash Ketchum." the announcer declared.

Drew immediately stopped the conversation he was having with some girl whose name he couldn't remember and stormed over to the judges.

"What? I'm disqualified? That's not fair. I was over there talking to those people who distracted me, it's not my fault, y-you can't disqualify me."

Ash, Glaceon and Kirlia burst out laughing at Drew's begging, even Roselia and Masquerain were giggling at their trainer who was still trying to convince everyone that he shouldn't be disqualified. Drew heard the laughter coming from Ash, Glaceon and Kirlia and glared at the trio.

'How dare they mock me?' Drew thought.

He stomped over to the trio and stood mere inches away from them, maintaining his glare as they kept laughing.

"What are you laughing at?!" Drew yelled.

Ash clamed down and wiped a tear from his eye.

"Who do you think?" Ash replied.

Drew was getting more and more furious at Ash, Glaceon, Kirlia, the judges, the fans and pretty much everyone and everything else in the arena.

"Forget what they said, I demand that we have our contest battle." Drew growled.

"It's not my fault that you were too busy talking to your fangirls that you got disqualified. Come on Glaceon, Kirlia let's go." Ash said.

Ash, Glaceon and Kirlia turned away from Drew and started to walk off the stage. Drew glared angrily at Ash; he would not lose to him especially like this. He quickly thought about what he could do to make Ash come back and battle him. A smirk came to his face as he realised what he could do to get Ash to battle him.

"What's wrong? Are you scared to face me?"

Ash stopped in place and clenched his fists.

"That's it isn't it? You're afraid that you'll lose to me. I tell you what since you're so scared I'll challenge you to a normal battle." Drew said cockily.

Ash looked down at Kirlia and Glaceon and saw that they were both furious. The trio turned around and glared at Drew, they walked back on to the stage and took their places.

"Alright let's do this." Ash said.

Drew smirked as he saw that his plan had work; he looked at Roselia and Masquerain who both appeared to be excited which was a look he hadn't seen on their faces for a long time.

"Let's start things off with Magical Ice."

Roselia stuck out one of her hand roses and it glowed white. She then shot multiple glowing crescents from her hand rose and they circled around her. Masquerain then formed a pale blue orb in front of himself and moments later several light blue beams of ice shot from the orb and froze the glowing crescents. The now frozen crescents glowed green and sparkled as Roselia were fired them Glaceon and Kirlia.

"Kirlia use Psybeam to destroy those leaves and Glaceon smash any that get close with Iron Tail."

Kirlia put her hands together and quickly formed a multi-colored ball between her palms. She then fired a magenta beam of energy that had multi-colored particles inside. The beam shot straight at the frozen crescents and shattered them on impact, a few of the leaves were able to avoid the beam and headed at Kirlia however Glaceon quickly dealt with the remaining leaves by slamming her metallic tail on to them which caused them to shatter. Drew looked on in shock as the shattered remnants of the frozen leaves dropped to the ground; he had never seen the attack stopped so easily although Glaceon and Kirlia's counter had no style of finesse. On instinct Drew looked to the main screen and then realised that they weren't having an official contest battle.

"We're having a normal battle. You do remember that right?" Ash said.

Drew turned his gaze from the main screen to Ash and glared at the Kanto native.

"I know." Drew growled through clench teeth.

"You know grasshead you're gonna have to do better than that Magical Ice if you want a chance of giving us a challenge Drew. I have to admit that these moves of yours would be effective in a contest since they do look the part and my bar would be dropping rapidly. Sadly for you this is a regular battle so you're pretty contest moves won't help you here." Ash taunted

Drew clenched his fist and started to grind his teeth in frustration, he had battled many people but none of them had ever infuriated him like Ash.

"Shut up! Our contest moves are more than enough to defeat you. Masquerain and Roselia shut them up with Poison Bubbles."

"Glaceon dodge with Quick Attack and Kirlia Teleport away."

Roselia's flower hands turned purple and poison could be seen dripping from them, when the poison touched the stage it sizzled and corroded its way through the stage. Roselia then fired several small purple needles from the flowers; a barrage of bubbles that had been fired by Masquerain then surrounded the needled. The two attacks fused and there were now several balls of poison headed towards Glaceon and Kirlia

Glaceon immediately reacted and shot off to the right, the only thing visible was the streaks of white that were following her as she moved at an incredible speed. Kirlia on the other hand time was frozen in place; her fear of the orbs of poison that were headed her way was stopping her from moving. She was sure that she could hear her dad saying something but she wasn't sure what. As the orbs got closer Kirlia crossed her arms in front of herself and shut her eyes.

Glaceon saw that Kirlia was in trouble so she quickly leapt in front of her sister, she then opened her mouth and the inside of her mouth started to glow light blue. A powerful wind that had snow and blue sparkles in it was then fired from her mouth; the snowy wind met the poisoned orbs and froze them. The frozen orb immediately dropped to the ground and shattered on the stage, littering it with a purple dust that sparkled beautifully in the light.

"Nice job Glaceon, you just used Icy Wind." Ash said.

Glaceon looked at her dad with a happy but confused expression; she had been trying to use an ice type attack however she hadn't expected to actually do it. The only reason she could think of that would explain her success was that she was determined to protect her sister. But right now she didn't really care about the how or the why, all she cared about was her sister's safety. She took a few steps back so that she was stood next to Kirlia and she nuzzled her.

'It's okay, I stopped the attack.' Glaceon whispered.

Kirlia looked up at her sister and smiled.

'Thanks sis.' Kirlia replied.

Ash smiled at the scene before him, he had always been amazed at the bond those two shared and was glad to see that their evolution hadn't affected their bond or their personalities. He looked from his daughters to Drew who looked furious that another one of his contest moves had failed.

"Well Drew I'll admit that attack wasn't as useless as your first but that's only because you used a poison type attack against a fairy type which was pretty smart." Ash said.

"That does it, I'm sick of you insulting us. Now you're gonna feel the pain of one of our signature moves. Roselia form an Energy Ball and Masquerain shoot a Signal Beam at it."

"You really are determined to beat me with those pretty moves aren't you? Match it with a Shadow Ball enhanced by Confusion."

Roselia put her arms in front of herself and formed a green orb between her flower-like hands, Masquerain then formed a white orb that had a myriad of colors swirling inside of it. A rainbow colored beam then shot from the orb and hit the green orb that had been getting gradually larger between Roselia's flowers. The orb increased in size dramatically as the two attacks combined and the green orb now had rainbow colors swirling inside of it. Meanwhile Glaceon had formed the most powerful Shadow Ball she possibly could; the orb of black energy was surrounded in a blue glow that matched the one surrounding Kirlia.

Both sides waited for the other to initiate the attack, several moments passed and still neither side had launched their attack. Roselia couldn't take the standoff any longer so she launched the ball of energy at Glaceon and Kirlia, the psychic type immediately launched their own attack and the orbs rocketed at each other. The crowd looked at the two orbs and were all expecting the far larger orb fired by Roselia to easily overpower the very small one shot by Kirlia. The orbs clashed and the Shadow Ball easily pushed through the Energy Ball causing the green orb to explode, the Shadow Ball slammed into Roselia and Masquerain moments later. The pair was shrouded in a thick black smoke which blocked them from view; everyone waited eagerly for the smoke to clear and they were rewarded moments later when the smoke cleared revealing a badly damaged Roselia and Masquerain who were struggling to stay upright. Drew looked at his Pokémon in shock.

"How is that possible? Our attack was so much larger than theirs. How did they overpower us?" Drew mumbled.

"The size of your attacks means nothing, the only thing that matters when attacks clash is which one is more powerful and your attack was woefully outmatched."

Drew didn't even respond to Ash's comment, his shock at what was happening had overridden his ability to retaliate to Ash's taunts.

"Glaceon, Kirlia it's time to end this. Finish them with Psychic Charge."

Kirlia and Glaceon nodded and the psychic type climbed on to her sisters back, her arm started glowing blue and a few second later a long lance made of psychic energy appeared in her hand. Kirlia gave Glaceon a nod and the ice type shot off at an amazing speed straight at Roselia and Masquerain. The bug type saw the duo charging their way and quickly flew away leaving Roselia alone to take the hit. The grass type was too exhausted to try and dodge the attack so she had no choice but to take the lance that slammed into her body, Roselia cried out in pain as she was sent flying through the air and she crashed to the ground now unconscious in front of Drew. Masquerain was counting himself lucky that he hadn't been hit by the attack however he wasn't paying attention to Glaceon who leapt into the air and slammed her metallic tail down on his head. The force of the attack sent the bug type crashing to the ground and he slammed down next to Roselia joining her in unconsciousness.

The sounds of several buzzers going off turned everyone's attention to the judges who despite this not being an official battle had given their opinions on the battle.

"Roselia and Masquerain are unable to battle. Glaceon and Kirlia are the winners." the announcer declared.

Glaceon and Kirlia ran back to Ash who pulled them both into a hug, the sisters did their best to return the hug and nuzzled his face which made him laugh as their hair and fur tickled his skin.

"I'm so proud of both of you. I love you two." Ash said.

'We love you too.' Glaceon and Kirlia replied.

Ash gave a hug and then released his grip on them, Glaceon and Kirlia reluctantly allowed their dad to stand up and they followed him as he walked off the stage. They looked back at Drew as they walked off the stage and saw that he still hadn't moved. The trio shrugged and then entered the waiting room; they made their way through the horde of coordinators and walked over to May, Salem, Meowth, Rai and Chu, and took a seat next to them.

Notes

You guys have no idea how many times I wrote Eevee and Ralts instead of Glaceon and Kirlia. I guess I'm still not used to them being evolved.

For anyone wondering about why Kirlia was afraid it was because she's a fairy type and the attack headed her way was poison which she is weak against.

Ok guys this is where I apologise for cheating you of a contest battle. I swear to Arceus that I tried my hardest to do a good contest battle but they all turned out terrible. I much prefer writing battles which is why I changed it to a battle. Maybe in the future I can think about writing a contest battle but right now I just don't want to. I know some of you will be disappointed and I'm sorry but I'd rather disappoint you and give you what I hope is a good battle than give you a chapter with a bad contest battle.

Next chapter we'll get to Rustboro, visit Devon Corp and revive those fossils.
