Two days after they settled in, Misa decided that she wanted to have a date with Light; in her room; where L had to be dragged as well; which meant D was dragged into Misa's room, even if she wanted or not.

"Are they watching us right now?" D and Misa were sitting on one side while L and Light were sitting opposite them. Except the cameras, the room and the two chained men, everything looked like a double date.

"Yes. We are watched"

L's response ticked off everybody. They didn't feel like being there at all. Light didn't say a word, L was eating sweets, Misa was annoyed because she couldn't do anything with her boyfriend and D was silently thinking about her own problems. She had a case she was currently working on and even though she finished it, something was off.

"What are you thinking about, D-san?"

Light saw, in his new state, in D a salvation from both L and Misa. He didn't remember being Kira so he didn't remember anything that she said about her connection with the Shinigami World; however, he remembered how soft and kind she had been when he felt too overwhelmed. Of course, he forgot the real reason why she had been like that but that didn't matter that much.

"A way to kill L" Her response was so blunt that it shocked the officers. They were silently watching the supposedly date and D was as cold as always with L and Misa.

"She doesn't like Misa that much, does she?" Matsuda was amused by the two women. They were the complete opposite of each other. If he were to be truthful, he would have expected Light to choose a girl like D more than a girl like Misa. But then again, he liked D even though his type was Misa.

"You are working on a case, right?" L knew everything she was doing even if she didn't have surveillance her rooms. How? Because he had known her for 16 years. Even if she changed and became an independent and successful woman, she was still the same self centered, bad mouthed D he had met before.

"No. I finished it but something is still suspicious. I know that I caught the one responsible for the murderers but he is just a student. He is so thin and malleable. He couldn't have carried the bodies on his own"

"Then you are searching for his companion?" She shook her head.

"I've been thinking about that option. He could have had a companion who did the dirty work for him. But, it doesn't correspond to his profile. He doesn't like attention, he doesn't seem to realize what happened and I started to think…maybe he is the companion" She rubbed her chin and started to ponder on her own theory. Light seemed to get interested in her case.

"Did you catch him easily?" D nodded.

"I did but the case was easy from the beginning" Light hummed and started to think on a different theory.

"Then why don't you release him and watch him for a while? If he is the companion then the real killer will contact him" D narrowed her eyes.

"Do you think I'm stupid? I already thought about that. It won't work. I placed him under surveillance before I caught him. Besides, he confessed and even gave us details" L cut a strawberry into two pieces and started to munch on one.

"Hey…stop talking about cases. This doesn't even feel like a date like this" Misa was growing impatient. Light wasn't even focusing on her, his girlfriend.

"You don't have to mind us" L was completely oblivious to everything around him. D was quite surprised that Light spoke his thoughts about her theory but L didn't. L always had to interfere with her work. Always was the key word.

"Are you going to eat that cake?" He was disappointed and didn't like the point he had gotten into. This investigation was trying his limits as a detective.

"I watch the sweets because they make you fat, right D-san?" D shrugged. She didn't like to eat sweets that much. She had her own health problems regarding sugar.

"If you use your head, you won't get fat even if you eat sweets" D sighed and crossed her legs. He just called Misa stupid without even realizing. Of course, she started to whine.

"How about if I give you the cake, will you leave Light and me alone together?" The worst part was that Misa was genuinely naïve.

"Even if I leave you two alone together, I can watch from the cameras so it's the same thing" But that didn't mean he didn't hover over the table for his cake.

"I told you that's perverted! Will you stop with that kind of fetish?" She puffed her cheeks and glanced to D. "Why don't you take your boyfriend and go out for a date, D-san? Then Light and I can have one as well!" Both L and D stopped in their tracks. Their eyes traveled to Misa slowly.

"He is not my boyfriend. You know what, why don't we finish this stupid joke and go deal with the real problem? I'm sick of playing date" Misa scoffed and turned her head to Light. D's eyes went to L. He looked bad but he was amused. She glared at him and started to munch on a piece of lemon.

"More importantly, we moved to a headquarters that has the equipment but you don't seem to have any kind of motivation, Ryuuzaki" Light saw how the situation got out of hand and presented his own worry.

"Motivation?" The truth was that "I don't have any. I'm actually depressed" He was disappointed and even after his conversation with D, he couldn't be sure if Light would decide suddenly to confess he is Kira.

"Depressed?"

"Yes…It's because I kept thinking you were Kira. It's just a shock if that theory is wrong. No, I still have suspicions about you. That's why we are doing this" His face started to look grim. D groaned and leaned more into the soft couch. He was going to openly whine in front of everybody.

"Such a child" She mumbled but no one seemed to pay any attention.

"However, if Kira was able to control peoples' actions. Kira controlled you in a way that I'd suspected you. Kira controlled you and Misa-san. If I think of it that way then the ends meet. But, why you two are still alive is the part that doesn't make sense" D rolled her eyes.

"Your theory doesn't make any sense" She groaned. Her expectations just dropped into a pitch black hole. The case was going nowhere because Light decided to forfeit his pride. What bullshit.

"I'll have to start investigating from the beginning. Back to the starting point" He glanced at D from the corner of his eye. She knew but she didn't want to tell him. It was annoying. She was keeping him in the dark and making him rethink everything.

However, just because there was no evidence to incriminate Light, that didn't mean L accepted that hypothesis. He was all talk for all D could see. Truthfully, L may never renounce completely to his original theory regarding the Kira case. Once he had an idea implanted in his brain, he was going to come back to it on many occasions.

"The way I see it, when you were detained, you were Kira. And when you were detained, the criminals stopped dying" L's head turned to D and watched her. If he was going to explain his new theories, he wanted to see her reactions. Based on that, he could create an idea of what was true and what was unimportant. "Until that point, you being Kira make sense. However, after 2 weeks the criminals started dying again. From that, this next assumption is a possibility"

D raised an eyebrow and tried to shake Misa off of her. She was still bugging her to leave with L. She rolled her eyes and pushed her a little harsher.

"Kira's power passes on from person to person" D tensed. L raised an eyebrow, though he looked as depressed as before, and continued. It was obvious that his assumption was right. Even though nothing in her behavior changed, her eyes hardened and she bit the inside of her cheek. "The second Kira's video also said Share the power"

Trying not to be obvious, D's eyes traveled to Light. He looked to be thinking about L's theory. He was genuinely trying to cooperate.

"It's an interesting thought, but if Kira was able to do that then there is no way to catch him"

"Yes. That's why I'm stuck. Controlling someone to kill criminals… If that person gets caught, then the power transfer to someone else and their memories disappear" D was a little surprised.

She didn't talk to him about that so he came up with that conclusion on his own. How? He was the one who didn't understand how Light and Misa changed so suddenly. What gave him a hint that they just transferred their powers to someone else?

"But, if your assumption is right, you won't able to know who is Kira anyway because it will always change" Her eyes kept their cold gaze on Light. "What if Kira is smart? Then he may as well transfer his powers to someone else and get it back when he needs it. Am I right, Light?"

While L was quite interested about what was going on between D and Light, Chief Yagami didn't like the tone she had used. She was incriminating his son and trying to place him into a bad light.

"That's true. But that hasn't been officially decided yet. We still don't know enough about Kira" He didn't look at all offended by her. She furrowed her eyebrows and bit her lower lip.

The old Light would have come up with a theory that would combat hers. The old Light was guilty so he had to protect himself. The new was an offense towards real and smart murderers. She couldn't help but despise him.

"Bring out some motivation" Light's smile and positive aura made D sulk. She started to play with her hands and, eventually, started to eat some cake. Her mind started to wander about the past again.

"I hate the head investigator" The man opposite D was a blonde man with bright green eyes. He looked like a model but didn't have the fashion sense of one.

"I am the head investigator, Kaira" She puckered her lips and smiled.

"Exactly" The blonde sighed.

Kaira Brooke was a brilliant detective. She caught 20 criminals in two months. That was more than the Scotland Yard did in two years. She knew exactly where to look and who to ask to find the culprit. She had numerous links to the shadow side of England. It was irresponsible for him to ask smart offenders or even mafia but they were willing to help Kaira with anything. That was quite a questionable situation.

"This case is not easy. We can't go and arrest a politician with no evidence" She glared at him and threw her hands into the air exasperated.

"But we do! Why can't you understand? I have already talked to a few sources and he killed that prostitute! Not only that, but he has someone who finds them exclusively for him!" The blonde sighed desperately.

"Your so called sources are suspicious. We can't rely on what they say" She continued to glare at him until he rubbed his forehead and sat up. He walked towards her desk and sat on it. She scoffed and rubbed her hands together.

"Do you want to forcefully make him confess or want to use plan B?" The blonde raised an eyebrow and sighed. He couldn't fight against her decisions for long. Not when he knew she was right most of the time.

"What is plan B?" She smirked and her eyes got a mischievous glint.

Two days later, Kaira was dressed in a fancy dress, wore fancy make up and adrenaline was rushing through her veins. Her eyes were scanning the entire area. She was in a bad part of the city, where there were only dangerous men and easy women. She uncovered one of her legs in order to grab a pack of cigarettes from her stockings. She didn't have a lighter, though.

"Need a fire?" She raised her eyes to her rescuer. She smirked and accepted his offer. "You don't seem to be from these sides"

"Sometimes, the appearances can be deceiving" The man was in his forties and wore an expensive suit. It was obvious how important he was from how high he kept his nose. "Do you need my services?"

"How much?" She smirked. He was putty in her hands and she knew that. It was such an easy target.

"100 pounds. Pay half now and half after we're done" The man chuckled but gave her the money anyway. She placed them into her bra and grabbed his hand. They entered an old building that seemed ready to fall down. The man didn't waste any time. He started to kiss and touch her everywhere. He pulled her dress higher and tried to undress her. She chuckled and pushed him onto a barely standing bed.

"You have to follow my rules" The man was sick. He had a wicked smile that was supposed to charm her. He looked greasy. Even more, he wasn't appealable at all, visually speaking.

He grabbed her arm and pulled her under him.

"I pay so you are going to follow my rules" She narrowed her eyes and pushed him away. The man frowned. He looked like he wasn't in a good mood anymore. He slapped her. "Be a nice whore and do how I say" She glared at him.

"And what if I don't? Are you going to kill me like you killed my colleague?" He hissed and straddled her. He was quite strong for a man his age. He started to undress himself rather quickly. She wasn't someone who could be controlled so she started to squirm. The man slapped her again but harder. She could feel blood on her lip.

"Let me go! You old perverted man! That's not how this business works!" He growled, like a hungry animal, and started to tug on her sleeves.

"Shut up or I'm going to kill you too! Do you hear me?! Do you want to end in a ditch too?!" She tried to push him away, but didn't apply to much force.

"I'm going to call the police!" He started to laugh loudly. It sounded really badly.

"And who's going to believe you, huh? You are just a prostitute!" She glanced to the door but there was no one around to enter. She rolled her eyes. The police was supposed to enter when he confessed his murder.

"He's late again" The man didn't even hear her. He started to plant kisses on her neck. She cringed. "That's enough" She kicked him in between his legs with a force that wasn't there before; or at least she didn't use before. The man rolled on his back and groaned. She tidied herself and looked down at him. He tried to stand up and hit her but she just kicked him again.

When the door opened and the Scotland Yard entered, she was rubbing her neck.

"You're late. He could have raped me for real" The blonde rolled his eyes but did look a little sorry.

"We both know that would have been impossible" She shrugged and walked past him. "You have to come to the court too" She stopped mid step and glanced at him over her shoulder.

"I trust you, Watson" The blonde sighed while she left, 50 pounds still in her bra.
