The Justice Guild

CHP37: The Search Begins

Two days passed since the select few guilds managed to escape the clutches of the dark mage Pumpkan and his mansion of horrors. Since then those involved worked up counter measures and locating the enemy. Each guild went about doing so independently and some had more luck than others. Inside the Justice Guild's base every member was present and stood around a table. Shazam was the last to arrive and dropped a bag of items over a sofa.

"Sorry I'm late guys, got caught up in traffic." He chuckled.

Each member glared at him which caused his throat to go dry. He then realized his excuse was virtually impossible given the lack of automobiles and vehicles in the land of Fiore. Whilst scratching at his hair he positioned beside everyone around the table. A massive map of the entire kingdom was atop it with the names of locations and landmarks.

"Well now that he's here I suppose we can begin." The Flash emphasized.

"Good, then I'll jump right into things," Cyborg pressed at a panel over his left arm bringing up in depth information on a singular individual, "This is all the info I managed to dig up on Aztiro Wies, and unfortunately it's nearly impossible for him to be one out of the nine."

"Aztiro Wies, who is that?" Zatanna inquired.

"Someone Batman wanted me to search." Cyborg replied.

Across the table Batman nodded.

"Yes, Pumpkan mentioned the individual by name in the second challenge of night one. What information do you have Victor?" The cape crusader asked.

"As I was saying it's highly doubtful this guy is one with Holidayz. He was an archaeologist, but during one of his searches out of Fiore he was presumed dead and that was over thirty years ago. And based on the collected intel he wasn't a magic user." Cyborg stated.

"Perhaps, but Pumpkan wouldn't have mentioned the name if it didn't have some significance. Is there anything else we should know, anything at all?" Batman replied.

"Well let's see," Cyborg looked over the information, "He was born in a town not far from here, about a two hour train ride. Oh and there is a museum named after him, and even has some of his artifacts and findings on display."

"Who owns the building?" Batman inquired.

For the next minute Cyborg searched through the information and everyone remained silent.

"Strange, but there isn't a name listed in the database as to who owns it. And if that wasn't weird enough there's been reports of disappearances on and around the premises. Some have resurfaced after weeks or even months, and when questioned none had any recollection of what went on during their absence. And then there are some that have never been heard from again." Cyborg read through.

A pen drop could have been heard given how quiet things were throughout. Each member of the guild thought things over individually.

"Then it's settled," Batman spoke breaking the silence, "It might be nothing at all, but with no name linked to the building...it's worth investigating. We'll cover more ground if we travel in smaller groups."

"What're you suggesting?" Black Canary emphasized.

"Flash and I will investigate this." Batman replied.

"What!?" Wonder Girl and Supergirl voiced at once.

"I agree," Superman added, "We don't know if this'll lead to anything, it might very well be a dead end. While Batman and Flash work that angle the rest of us should look into what else we know."

"Which is nothing." Starfire said aloud.

"Not true. Batman managed to take a photo shot from inside his cowl, which was from the third challenge of night two. I was eliminated in that exact challenge." Wonder Woman looked to the cape crusader.

Batman nodded.

"Superman wasn't present during the three night stay in the mansion but he has decided to work this angle. I've worked closely with Cyborg and we've taken a close look at things," Wonder Woman leaned forward pointing at a specific section on the map, "Lawn Dawn town. It's a little town a couple miles from the royal palace."

"What does it have to do with anything?" Supergirl questioned.

"It's known as the town of season," Superman went on, "A singular town that oddly shifts weather more frequently than any other outside of it. By all accounts it shouldn't be possible, and according to rumor in just one month it goes through the cycle of weather the rest of the kingdom would experience in an entire year. And at the center of that town is an orphanage, one in which is considered the heart and vessel of Lawn Dawn town."

A handful of members looked at one another before all eyes fell on Superman.

"Then it's got to be magical. I mean the constant change in weather." Shazam implied.

Wonder Woman nodded.

"Looks to be the case."

"Strange maybe, but what does it have to do with the enemy?" Superboy questioned.

"It falls right in place with what we experienced in challenge three of night two. The task was matching seasons and the story shared by Pumpkan was about a young girl, an orphan to be precise." Wonder Woman informed.

"Makes sense I guess," Shazam scratched at his hair, "But do we have any concrete evidence with either of these locations? It feels like we're working off hunches."

"It's rarely that easy all pieces fall into place and paint a clear picture. We'll follow up on these leads and see where we go from there. It'll be noon soon, and if we head out now we should arrive by nightfall." Batman looked to Flash.

Zatanna coughed clearing her throat.

"Wait, so you're heading for the museum now?!"

"Yes, the sooner the better."

Batman stepped away from the table removing the cowl off his head.

"But I shall make the trip as Bruce Wayne and suit up when the time is necessary. You should do the same Barry." Batman entered into a back room.

Flash shrugged before spinning in place and was dressed in civilian clothing right before their eyes. Bruce emerged shortly thereafter in brown uniform and the top two buttons of his white under shirt left unbuttoned.

"You make a good point, no need to attract attention if we don't have to." Barry grinned.

Both members exited through the main entrance.

"So who all is making the trip to Lawn Dawn town, just Superman? I'd like to accompany you if you're ok with that." Black Canary implied.

"Four sets of eyes are better than two and we'd gather more intel working together. I also believe we should take the same approach as Batman and Flash. If a member of Holidayz is in fact stationed in Lawn Dawn, Superman's presence would no doubt tip them off we're on to them. However we won't make our trip until early tomorrow morning, I want to study what we know and deduce any further information that might help." Superman said.

Wonder Woman pushed away from the table and headed for the exit.

"Diana," Superman called out to her, "Where are you going?"

She was hesitant and didn't answer right away.

"To get some fresh air...I'll be back soon."

The door closed shut as she did. Elsewhere things were lively inside the Fairy Tail guildhall as it normally was. Makarov sat over a stool listening in to the many different conversations of his children throughout the guild and was during which he sunk into his own thoughts. As it had been with all guilds involved in the deadly games, the main talk surrounded Pumpkan and Holidayz. Similar to the Justice Guild, the wizards of Fairy Tail worked at deducing the locations and identities of the Holidayz mages.

"It was so awesome, I wish you could have been there! He unraveled one thing after another, and it was so cool to watch but don't get me wrong others did contribute to solving the challenges." Levy said.

"The way you and the others have talked about him, kind of makes me wish I was there...I mean outside of the fact that Pumpkan guy was trying to kill you all." Lissanna chuckled.

"Yes, Batman was quite clever," Cana joined them at the table, "But Lucy ultimately saved everyone. I'll give credit where it's due, and Batman possessed quiet a tactical mind. He was very much a prime factor in our escape from the hell hole."

"Was it just me or did he lack a strong magical presence, I'd even venture and say I sensed none at all?" Levy directed at Cana.

"That was a general consensus between a handful of us, but he made up for his lack of magical strength in other areas." Cana replied.

Laxus listened in from nearby with his back positioned against a wall and arms crossed.

"Batman huh," A grin shaped on the side of his face, "I halfway hope we meet."

Across the room Lucy conversed with Gray discussing their previous mission and her suspicion the one behind the disappearances in the forest was the doing of a Holidayz mage. Nearly a block from the guild a mage walked alone. Her long scarlet colored hair blew back and forth with the wind. She slowed up as a shadow loomed over her from a nearby roof. Up top stood someone with a dark brown cape covering most their body and a hood connected to it.

"Who are you?" Erza inquired looking up.

The individual revealed herself lowering the hood.

"Diana!" Erza's expression brightened.

Wonder Woman dropped down from the roof and forced the cape back over her shoulders.

"Good to see you as well. As promised I have information, and two of my colleagues are already on the move so we need to act fast. Let's try and keep the group small, so as to keep our involvement a secret." Wonder Woman said.

Erza's eyes narrowed.

"Why so, is something wrong." Erza said with a hint of suspicion in her tone.

"Well ah," Wonder Woman went silent for a couple seconds, "Batman is working the case and he...he's quite tenacious. He'd loath at the idea of assistance, so our objective is to observe and do nothing unless the situation calls for it."

"Does he not realize we barely survived with over fifty wizards, many of which possess powerful magic?! He must have a death wish?!" Erza groaned.

Wonder Woman followed as Erza led the way. The Fairy Tail mage grinned at the sight of Happy and Natsu passing by.

"The first of our little group is just ahead. We'll do things your way. Once we've gathered everyone I'd like to hear the details of what exactly we're disembarking on."

"Of course."

The train ride was quiet mostly, both men keeping to themselves and only engaged in conversation on occasion. Neither anticipated the museum being closed upon arrival, but that didn't hamper their plans. The two masked heroes stood atop a building across from the location in question. With his lenses set to detect mode Batman picked up on what little security was present through the main doors.

"What do you think?" Flash inquired.

"I've worked within Magnolia's detective agency for dozens of weeks," Batman set his lenses to standard mode, "And during that time I've picked up on and learned how certain mechanisms work. Security systems here in this kingdom and tech aren't nearly as sophisticated as it is back home. Breaking in undetected won't be a problem. Let's move."

Flash took off down the building and was already across the street before Batman even reached for his grapple gun. He joined Flash moments later gliding down from up top. With a small gizmo in hand Batman disarmed the security and unlocked the door with a separate gadget.

"Keep your eyes peeled." Batman said.

"Yes but for what, Aztiro Wies's findings?"

"Not particularly, just for anything that looks out of the ordinary. I'll check the upper level while you cover everything down here. It'll take us time to search the entire building, and if you find anything make contact and I shall do the same." Batman said.

"Aren't cha forgetting something? I'm the fastest man alive, I'll have the lower level scouted inch for inch in seconds."

The Flash took off in blinding speed down the hall as Batman looked to a nearby staircase. Only halfway up the steps Batman perceived a beep inside his cowl and pressed at the side of it.

"Batman I've got something. I'm around the corner, head down that hall and then make a right. Follow that hall all the way down and then make a left." Flash spoke on the other end.

"On my way." Batman replied.

It was beneficial the Flash was at his side given his speed to cover so much ground so quickly without overlooking details. Batman arrived in minutes and spotted Flash standing beside a wall.

"What do you have?" The dark knight questioned.

"This here," Flash pointed to and positioned his ear against a wall, "It's hollow inside and there's lots of air circulating from within."

Batman set his lenses to detect mode and confirmed Flash's suspicion. With one step after another he made his way toward the wall.

"Help me push." Batman positioned in front of a specific section of the wall.

Flash joined him, and together they pushed it open. Inside there was a good five feet between themselves and a panel plastered over a wall. They were uncertain of its function. Flash stepped forward and pulled the lever down and for the first couple seconds nothing happened. That didn't last for long as an unraveling sound took to their ears and in the middle of the room the surface lowered. At once they walked across the tiling and stared down into the lowered section.

"Looks like a long way down and dark too." Flash said.

Batman uncovered a flashlight and used it to light the path. The two quickly began their descent and stayed on high alert. After just a couple steps Batman slowed down and stopped. Flash did the same and looked at him directly.

"Is there a problem?"

"We're being followed...and or watched. From where I don't know." The dark knight gazed upward from where they entered.

The Flash scratched at the side of his mask.

"I don't know bats, things seem pretty quiet to me but if you say so. Are you proposing we..."

"We'll continue," Batman cut him off, "Keep your guard up."

Flash nodded and from then they prolonged forward. The journey downward was deeper than either expected and soon reached a leveled section. Torches hung over the walls and lit the path ahead. The torches over the walls were a heavy indication they were onto something.

"The flames didn't just form on their own, someone must have done so." Flash said.

"Or motion censored." Batman replied.

"Possibly, but I think we're onto something."

Strange sounds echoed from ahead and the further they went the clearer those sounds became.

"Whimpers..." Flash whispered.

Batman inspected the surroundings and concluded they were inside a cave, one in which was below the museum. The masked heroes entered a spacious section of the cave and looked more like a dungeon. Further ahead was a waterfall.

"What in the world is that smell?! Did something die, good grief!"

"You're spot on," Batman stepped in front of what resembled a jail cell, "A decomposing body. And from the looks of it whoever it was couldn't have passed more than a day or two ago."

With terror in his eyes the speedster looked for himself.

"Just what the hell is this place?" Flash held a firm grip over the prison bars.

"Over there." Batman pointed.

Another body was situated over a table a couple feet from them. It was a woman that had been in her late thirties to early forties. The cape crusader took the liberty of closing her eyes with a gloved finger. Flash picked up on more bodies within the vicinity, all of which were locked inside cells.

"My goodness, these people were tortured." The Flash deduced looking over the bodies.

"Hey over here, yah got to...help me!"

Batman and Flash took off in the direction where the voice originated. A man in his sixties coughed blood, and was inside a prison cell. His clothes were raggedy and torn with numerous cuts and scars over his body. He had a long beard and mustache and his left eye bruised. Batman pressed at the side of his cowl activating a special mode.

"Who did this to you?!" Batman demanded.

"You gotta get me out, haven't seen daylight in months."

"And we will," Flash stepped forward, "But first tell us what the heck happened here, who is responsible?!"

"Yes, yes of course," The individual coughed some more, "I unraveled his..."

A loud bang was followed by poisonous gas filling the entire cell.

"Get back!"

Batman placed a gas mask over Flash's mouth and did the same for himself. They could do nothing but watch as the prisoner inside the cell foamed and gagged out of his mouth. His eyes were bloodshot and it wasn't long before he stopped breathing and the gas dispensed. Both removed their gas masks afterward.

"Now, now we can't have my secrets getting out. Such a measly old geezer Ukortate was, it was long overdue he was put out of his misery. But more importantly intruders, didn't think I'd have any of those. You're very welcome to die now!" A hidden voice spoke.

It all happened so fast Batman didn't perceive a thing. He gazed curiously at the couple hundred arrows stacked neatly atop one another and the Flash rubbing his hands together. Six hundred arrows were fired at them simultaneously from all directions in which Flash zoomed around nabbing each and neatly stacking them in under three seconds.

"Yup, yur gonna have to do better than that." The speedster grinned.

"Hhhhmmm, folks of magical talent aiye? Very well, I suppose now is the time I put my latest invention to the test." The same voice implied.

Beneath the surface androids in the form of birds rose, each standing at 5 foot.

"BBX Fours, destroy the intruders. Do not leave even a spec!"

The Flash glimpsed around counting over three hundred.

"Looks like fun," He looked to the dark knight, "Ready for a training exercise."

"And leave all of us out, I don't think so!"

The Flash looked to where he and Batman had entered and before them stood an individual with pink hair and his fists covered in flames.

"Uhm who're they?" Flash looked to the cape crusader.

The dark knight only frowned with clinched fists. Behind Natsu emerged Happy, Wonder Woman, Erza, Gray, Jenny Realight, Kagura, Mirajane, Cana, Millianna, Hibiki, Lucy, Minerva and the twin dragons. Batman knew Wonder Woman was responsible for the grouping and then trailed him and the Flash. He wasn't pleased, but voicing his anger or frustration would have to wait. The handful of wizards with Wonder Woman included joined the side of Flash and Batman. The combined efforts of the mages and heroes reduced the enemies to scraps quickly.

"I barely warmed up," Natsu cracked his knuckles, "Hope there's more where that came from."

Batman immediately looked to and stepped in front of Diana.

"Why?" The dark knight glared.

"Why not," Wonder Woman frowned back, "Did you or did you not remember what we just went through!? We barely escaped the mansion alive! This enemy is not to be taken lightly, and excuse me for being concerned but both you and Flash cou..."

"We had things under control!" Batman shot back.

"Now maybe, but you can't possibly foresee what obstacles lie ahead. I apologize for not telling you, but you wouldn't have gone along with this. I promised Titania I'd keep her posted on anything we dug up vice versa."

"Our findings is our business. Just as any other guild we work independently, isn't that the point of a guild? If you wanted more hands on deck, the Justice Guild would have been ideal." Batman emphasized.

Minerva walked forward situating off to the side of them.

"Hate to sound like a broken record but Holidayz is not only your guild's enemy, but ours as well." She implied.

The group was interrupted by a loud bang that was then followed by rumbling. Bits and pieces of rock fell from the ceiling.

"A gathering of wizards' aiye? Interesting...very interesting. Inner destruction has been initiated. It's intriguing you people found this place, but I can't have any loose ends." A hidden voice spoke.

It was unlike the voice they'd grown accustomed to with Pumpkan and was undoubtedly someone else.

"Inner destruction what?!" Gray moved around eluding debris from up top.

"Detonation to the building and this cave most likely. We've seen too much and now this guy wants us dead." Kagura replied

Not a moment later small machines extended from the walls and fired acid! The group separated from each other and eluded the deadly substance. The hall in which they used to enter caved in and it quickly became apparent they wouldn't survive if they didn't make a move. Flash looked to the waterfall/stream ahead, but had no idea where it led to.

"Everyone," Flash pointed in that direction, "The stream is our only option. If we stay here we're done for!"

He was the first to the ledge easily dodging the acid and blitzing forward. Others followed his lead and knew they didn't have much a choice. One after another the mages leaped and hoped for the best. Batman and Sting were the last two trailing everyone who already made the jump. Sting tripped up on rocks over the surface but managed to lunge forward off the ledge. As Batman came within a foot of making the jump a portion of acid blasted over the left side of his mask! It quickly melted through the armor and he quickly tore it from his face before the substance reached his skin. He tore out a small chip from the cowl, and dropped it inside his utility belt as he leaped off the ledge.

The group was pulled forward with the current and some even lost consciousness along the way. After minutes of being tossed around and about light came into view ahead. There was a large opening and the group was tossed into a lake down below. Everyone swam to the shore carrying Millianna, Happy and Cana alongside them. Batman and Sting were also pulled to the shore. Wonder Woman performed CPR on Batman as Minerva did the same for Sting. Both stood to their feet afterward. It was a moment of relief, but the thought was just as quickly replaced with another. Jenny and Mirajane shared a similar expression as Erza bit down at her tongue and Cana's mouth dropped open. Lucy bit back and gulped. He didn't realize it right away but Batman quickly noticed that all eyes were on him.

"You're the pretty boy from the Ice Pageant Expo!" Cana pointed directly at him.

"Bruce Wayne is..." Mirajane's voice trailed off.

"Batman!" Erza and Jenny said at once.

Batman situated a gloved hand over his face and realized the cowl was missing and in that moment memory of the acid came back to him.

"Gotta say, I wasn't expecting this," Minerva grinned, "But why would you want to conceal features like that?"

"Burnt and disfigured my ass," Jenny looked to Erza, "You've known his identity this entire time haven't you?! Were your intentions to have hi..."

"This is a first for me too!" Erza shot back.

The two argued back and forth as the attention shifted away from the dark knight. Gray face palmed and he was the first to notice Batman had disappeared, but said nothing. Hibiki eventually stepped in between them and broke them apart.

"Enough! We don't have time to argue among ourselves. The museum just went up in flames and by now city law enforcement is in route. If and when they find out of our presence the magic council will come after us." Hibiki said.

"For now we retreat, I think it's in everyone's best interest." Kagura said.

"Agreed, and the building wasn't publicly registered or owned by anyone, so that in itself raises red flags." Wonder Woman added.

"What about us? Do we go back to working this whole Holidayz mess within our own separate guilds?" Rogue inquired.

No one answered and with that they headed their separate ways.

Scattered clouds occupied the sky but the sun was very much visible. An individual wearing a dark gray suit with hat and brown tie walked down a road with both hands in his pockets. A black duffle bag was positioned over his right shoulder. A large gate came into view up the road with a banner across it that read "Doves Paradise." He stopped short of the gate after distinguishing a loud ring in his ear.

"Bruce what's your status, have you arrived?"

"Yes, I'm standing in front of the place. Kiku couldn't make the trip, and given the circumstance I'm gonna have a more difficult time without her."

"Kiku...sorry but who is that?"

"An assigned partner of mine Victor. We work hand in hand at MDA." Bruce replied.

His eyes fell over and walked toward a worker standing behind a glass window inside a booth.

"Good afternoon sir, as I'm sure you know mingling inside the Doves Paradise requires a reservation in advance...so do you have one? All I need is the names. If not you have to pay the additional charge of nineteen thousand jewels." The worker inquired.

"I'll pay the fee."

"Good," The worker lowered the glasses off his nose, "But I fail to see your significant other, and without her I cannot grant you access at this time."

"You aren't serious." Bruce grimaced.

The employee shook his head and pointed to a billboard over a wall behind him.

"Rules are rules pal, this is a theme park for couples. And until your lady arrives you can't go in, no exceptions."

Bruce tried negotiating with the individual but nothing he said shifted the worker's firm stance on the subject matter. Eventually he backed off realizing there was no point and paced back and forth.

"Bruce, are you inside?"

"I've reached a roadblock unfortunately, and without the guard manually unlocking the gates I have no way in. The entire park is a mile in any which direction and is guarded by a magical barrier. Freeloaders broke through in the past, and they've since amped up security."

"Gee that doesn't sound good, and I doubt there's much I can do from here but I'll see what I can come up with." Cyborg replied.

There was nothing Bruce could do so stood around and waited. From a distance someone watched him closely but didn't make a move. Even with the situation being what it was he didn't stop thinking about ways of gaining entry. Kiku was his only option of getting through and without her it was rather difficult. His eyes fell over two individuals that approached the booth, one a man and the other a woman. They held hands and Bruce figured they had a set reservation with Doves Paradise. He listened in on their conversation with the worker behind the booth as a couple laughs were exchanged and a card swiped. Not long after the main gates slowly opened and Bruce saw it as possibly his only means of entry. He took off running and bypassed the couple sprinting through the door.

"Hey sir get back here!" The one behind the booth shouted.

The worker was unable to leave his post so instead contacted security right away and gave a description of the intruder. The one that had observed Bruce from afar moved forward and felt it was time to intervene. Even with all the commotion the couple were granted entry into Doves Paradise. Security officials from different sections in the park stepped away from their posts and searched for the intruder. Down the hill and onto the dirt road a woman trotted. She wore a green sundress with flower patterns over it, her hair tied in a bun, with black boots and a straw hat and a pink ribbon atop it.

"Can I help you ma'am?" The worker behind the glass questioned.

"Yes, actually you can." The woman spoke but never gave eye contact nor raised her head.

The worker gulped at the mention of her name and couldn't believe his ears! They exchanged a few words in which she revealed a card and paid for the service of two. She was granted access through the main gates. Inside the theme park Bruce mingled inside a large crowd concealing himself from security. By the looks of things it didn't appear he'd stay hidden for long and knew he needed to come up with something fast. His eyes fell on bypassing officers and as he separated from the crowds a hand fell over his left shoulder.

"That's as far as you go. For the sake of yourself it would be best you give yourself up and come with us quietly."

The security official positioned in front of Bruce and communicated with other security using a small device. In no time he was surrounded by over ten security officials and he stood with tightened fists. There wasn't much he could do, and trying to fight them off or attempting to run would only put him in further trouble.

"So what's it going to be mister W..."

The security official was cut off by a woman calling out to Bruce and waving in their general vicinity. Each of the security responders looked to the woman and Bruce bit at his tongue setting eyes on her.

"I've been looking all over for you, why didn't you wait out front like we agreed?! I'm so sorry," The woman looked back and forth between the security people, "We've had this trip planned for weeks, so you must excuse Bruce-san's earlier actions. He was just so eager to get inside, right honey?"

The woman winked at Bruce and as a result his throat went dry. A handful of the guards stared at the woman and one even scratched at the side of his head and his mouth slightly opened.

"You...you're Erza Scarlet of Fairy Tail!" He said with wide eyes.

"Indeed I am," Erza tipped her hat forward, "Is there a problem?"

The Fairy Tail mage grinned.

"No, no not at all it's just...I never imagined someone like you would," The guard bit at his lower lip before letting out a sigh, "Forget about it. I hope the two of you enjoy your time here, and the next time you do something like you did at the front entrance it'll result in an instant rejection from the park."

The last bit of what the official said was directed at Bruce just before they took off. Bruce was quiet as Erza moved in front of him, but was clear he had something to say.

"Talk, why're you here? You followed me, didn't you?!" Bruce frowned.

"And what if I did? Fairy Tail has been performing our own separate investigations trying to find the locations of Holidayz. I was drawn off course when I spotted you at the border of Oak Town. Needless to say I figured you'd be onto something so I followed you here."

"And now you can leave."

"That isn't your decision to make." Erza replied.

"That wasn't a suggestion, I've got everything under control."

"But you don't, with the circumstance being what it is you can't remain here without me. Doves Paradise is designated for lovers, and you will be kicked out if alone. You're probably already on their list of people to lookout for given your antics at the front gate. Whether you like it or not you need me...unless of course you have a companion on the way that I don't know about." Erza grinned.

A long period of silence followed as Bruce looked away from her.

"Fine, but we do things my way." Bruce said.

"You sound just like Diana, but sure. We should however first check into the Petal inn." Erza pointed to a building just ahead.

"Petal inn?" Bruce gazed back at her.

"You don't take me as the type that wouldn't do his homework before disembarking on a location or mission. The Petal inn is one of two sweets inside the theme park, and according to customer reviews is the better of the two."

For the next minute they continued forward and said nothing. Erza eventually coughed clearing her throat.

"I never did ask, but why here? What led you to Doves Paradise?" Erza looked directly at him.

Bruce exhaled and was hesitant to answer, but reached into the bag and uncovered an envelope. It was in the color of pink with red heart shapes over it.

"This letter was recovered from Sanc Wiltersen homicide crime scene, but this alone wasn't enough. I reexamined evidence of previous murders that we believe might be linked to his death and I determined the letters weren't just purchased in any random location. Each was manufactured in Zeuto Vuz, and were purchased off the shelves of a souvenir shop inside here. Zeuto Vuz is a factory owned by Jun Masao, and he is also the owner of this theme park."

"You think he's a member to Holidayz?" Erza asked.

"No," Bruce shook his head, "I suspect our culprit is female, and everything came up clean on my search of Jun's background. He might be involved, but nothing I've found suggests that to this point."

"Then we've got our work cut out for us." Erza threw her head back.

Soon they were in front of the Petal inn and made their way up the steps and through the front entrance. Erza led the way stopping in front of the check in desk and handed over two slips she acquired from the entrance gate. The lone worker typed away at a computer system and within a minute two keycards were produced and handed to both Erza and Bruce.

"Is this your first stay here at Doves Paradise? It's always great to see new faces, and you should definitely get around to some of the activities throughout the park, especially later this evening. That's when the good stuff will be held. By the way you're in room five, two, four." The worker grinned.

"Thanks, we look forward to our stay." Erza returned the smile.

She and Bruce used a nearby staircase and advanced to the fifth floor and entered the room halfway down the hall. Erza was pleasantly surprised with what she saw. There were paintings over the walls, with a couple sofas throughout and even a balcony overlooking the park below. She tossed off her hat and dropped down over the bed with one leg crossed over the other.

"I've needed a vacation and have a feeling I'm gonna enjoy my stay here. Hhhhmmm, but it looks like there's only one bed," Erza smirked looking in the direction of Bruce, "We're basically lovers now, so I hope you like cuddling." She said jokingly.

Bruce paid her no attention dropping his bag beside a dresser. His eyes narrowed as he looked in the direction of the balcony, and across the way atop a roof stood three persons. Each of those individuals carried binoculars and looked directly through the balcony door at him and Erza. He tightened his fist before turning away.

"We're being watched."

"What?" Erza blinked.

"We're under the observation of three, each of which wearing identical uniforms to the park officials. They're atop a roof across from us." Bruce replied.

"But why, are you certain?!" Erza pushed off the bed.

Bruce gestured for her to stay seated and shook his head.

"I'm positive, but for what reason I don't know. Perhaps it has to do with my break in, or maybe it's something else entirely. Whatever the case, we should stay vigilante and not alert them that we know. It'll likely pass."

"Yes, you're probably right," Erza stood and headed toward the bathroom, "I'm gonna get cleaned up and then we can go mingle the park. I'll help with your investigation in any way I can, just tell me what to do."

The door closed behind her and Bruce dropped to a knee unzipping his bag. He uncovered a special set of shades, with a small device. Three changes of clothes were at the top and beneath them was a single utility belt and his bat gear. Atop the roof one of the security officials made a call.

"Mistress, Titania of Fairy Tail is here..."

A woman of medium height walked beside a man standing at six foot three. She wore a gray skirt with black stockings, brown boots, with a white blouse and gray sweater atop it left unbuttoned. She had long blond hair and her eyes covered by dark shades. The individual on her left wore a dark brown suit with a gray tie and white under shirt, topped off with black dress shoes. Both carried a bag, one in which held clothing and the important items. Since the train ride they walked nearly three miles and out in front of them a sign reading "Lawn Dawn town" came into view.

"So we've arrived." The woman said.

Soon they bypassed the sign and entered into the town. There was a decent amount of fog visible in the atmosphere. Immediately the man placed a hand over his mouth and coughed before grasping his chest.

"Clark!"

"I'm ok Dinah," Clark gave a reassuring gin, "It's nothing I just feel a bit drained is all."

Black Canary took his word for it but wasn't convinced and decided to keep quiet as they went along. The structure and build of their surroundings was similar to other locations in Fiore but it was much too quiet. In ways it felt like a ghost town. Clark spotted the orphanage at the center of town, which was dozens of yards from their position.

"Don't you find this strange," Black Canary said in almost a whisper, "In a town this size you'd expect more activity, but there isn't a single soul out."

Clark looked to his right and spotted a curtain slide shut. There was similar activity from another home on the opposite side of the street. He listened in using his super hearing and picked up on different sounds which included static.

"We aren't alone," He used his enhanced vision peeking ahead and spotting people staring at them through windows, "This town is full of people...but they're closed in for some reason."

Clark scratched at his chin and readjusted the glasses over his nose. He didn't like the feel of things and neither did Canary. As they continued on Clark clutched his fists and stretched out both sides of his shoulders. There was a strange sensation throughout much of his body and was something he experienced dozens of times before.

"Clark," Dinah gazed at him with concern in her eyes, "You sure you're ok?"

"I'm fine, whatever it is will pass I'm sure." Clark grinned.

His enhanced hearing picked up on the sound of a ball bouncing through an upcoming alleyway. In the next couple seconds a group of six children appeared out of the alleyway surrounded by scattered fog, and their voices died down the instant they spotted Clark and Dinah. The Justice Guild members approached the group and Dinah waved out to them.

"We're travelers and were hoping you could direct us to..."

Dinah bit back as each of them took off running around the corner. Both she and Clark perceived the slamming of a door and she looked to Clark straightaway.

"What is with this place?"

"Don't know, but something isn't right and we will uncover whatever it is." Clark re adjusted the glasses over his nose.

They journeyed further down the block and around a corner and Clark felt numerous eyes peered over them from the surrounding windows. It was the strangest thing he'd encountered since arriving in Fiore. Soon a motel came into view and they entered inside. Neither was certain if an enemy of the dark guild was present, but regardless there was something oddly bizarre about the location. A bell jingled atop the door as they entered, but the main lobby was empty. For over a minute they observed the decor throughout until someone emerged from a set of curtains behind the counter. It was a man standing at 5'11 wearing a reddish brown suit with black under shirt, dark colored eyes, and orange hair with a beard and mustache.

"Hello." Dinah waved heading in that direction.

"Guests huh," He scratched at the side of his nose looking them both over in depth, "We don't get very many of those. You people with law enforcement?"

"No, I'm a reporter," Clark stepped forward, "And she's just a friend."

The individual behind the counter laughed.

"There ain't much worth reporting around here, and if you want my honest opinion...get out while you can."

Clark and Dinah immediately looked to one another and then back at him.

"Was that a threat?" Dinah questioned.

The individual again laughed.

"Welcome to Lawn Dawn town, you folks need a room?" He grinned.

"Yes," Clark stepped forward, "Two separate ones, but I don't know how long we'll be in town so just register us for two nights. If we elect to extend our trip we'll cross that bridge when the time comes."

Clark handed him the card and in a single swipe a set amount of jewels were transferred from his account. Both were then handed a keycard to their rooms.

"Thank you," Clark looked to the name tag over his shirt, "Mister Deckersan."

"Yes, please do enjoy your stay. You're on the second floor." He smirked.

Dinah led the way as they carried their bags along, and as they walked up the steps she glimpsed back at Deckerson. He had a strange look in his eyes, one in which sent shivers up her spine. Both separated and entered their rooms which happened to be across from each other. With everything they'd experienced since stepping into town Dinah was somewhat suspicious. She inspected much of the room before eventually setting her bag down and washing up in the small bathroom area.

A woman wearing a blue skirt with black boots and white top walked through the theme park finishing what remained of the cotton candy. She loved how it dissolved in her mouth and the evening air was refreshing. Someone approached her from the right and he wore a blue long sleeve shirt with the top button left unbuttoned and blue jeans. He also wore dark shades and the situation remained as it had been, but he managed to pick up on an important detail throughout the evening.

"You just about done with your system disabling? We've been apart for over an hour, I started to think you might have taken off with another woman." Erza joked.

"We've got one final location," Bruce gazed around checking their surrounding once more and nothing changed. No matter which direction he looked, there was someone watching from the corner of a building or rooftop, "But, I've noticed something. It isn't us they've been keeping an eye on, but rather you."

Titania raised an eyebrow with interest.

"Say again."

"These people have been observing you from the time we checked in. When we separated I kept a lookout and not a single came my way, yet you maintained heavy attention. I tossed the idea around and came to the conclusion of your celebrity like status. You're a known mage to Fairy Tail, and your guild carries quite the reputation of mischief but it could also be something else."

"What do you mean something else?" Erza questioned.

"Maybe she feels you're onto her...that being our potential enemy." Bruce replied.

"Are you implying a member to Holidayz is keeping tabs on me through the park's security? That's farfetched, not to mention the amount of payoffs it would take would be exponential. Unless you believe she or another member to their dark guild is somehow running things, I just don't see it."

"Neither do I, but something just isn't right and from what I can tell you appear to be the only person they've kept a close eye on."

Erza chuckled wrapping her left arm around his.

"You're being paranoid Bruce, and if they're watching to see if I'm here to make trouble they will be sadly disappointed. All I have to do is show them I'm here to have a good time like everyone else." Erza pulled Bruce along.

He was taken off guard by her actions and even stumbled forward slightly. She led them up a set of steps and waited in a small line.

"Erza we aren't here to have fu..."

"Sssshhh," She silenced him with a finger to the lips, "There's nothing better than mixing business and pleasure. You've got only one system left to hack correct? If so I see no problem in having a little fun while we're here, besides it'll help to ease my stalkers suspicion. Let's put on a show for them."

Erza pinched at his cheek as the gates opened in front of them. She pulled at Bruce's wrist leading the way. They went for a ride on a merry go round. Together they passed through other rides and side activities. As they went along Bruce noticed the Fairy Tail mage staring at him from the corner of his eye.

"What is it?"

"It's nothing," She smirked throwing her hair back, "It's just I never imagined with your personality and demeanor you'd be so attractive under the mask."

Bruce situated both hands in his pockets but didn't reply. Erza led the way as she had done most the night and they stopped in front of a gaming setup of target practice.

"Welcome guests, would you like to play a game of targets? We have numerous cool prizes and you can get whatever you want free by scoring high enough," An individual standing behind the counter pointed to the prizes over the shelf, "If you can match or exceed the score of the number listed on an item it is yours. But you only have four shots so use them wisely."

Erza's eyes lit up staring at a teddy bear. Bruce also gazed at some of the prizes but there was nothing in particular that interested him.

"How about a friendly competition," Erza brushed her shoulder against his, "Winner gets to ask any question and the loser has to answer honestly. The winner is based on which of us scores more points in the four turns."

Several seconds passed and Bruce gave no answer, which Erza frowned as a result.

"You sure about this?" Bruce smirked.

"That confident huh," Erza grinned turning to the person standing behind the counter, "We'd like to play."

"Excellent!"

The individual recovered two bows and both were given four arrows a piece. Erza was the first to step forward and knew she needed to make every shot count. To make for a challenge both agreed to stand back twenty yards from the dart board. The middle/bullseye added up to eight hundred points and every section outside of that fell off by two hundred points. Erza sighed before taking her first shot and getting six hundred points. Her next shot was inaccurate as her finger slipped off the arrow and managed only four hundred points. She rolled her eyes and especially focused on her next shot. Unlike before the arrow struck bullseye giving her eight hundred points! Her last shot was a little off point and managed only six hundred points, but even so she felt it would be enough to gain victory.

Erza stepped aside as Bruce lifted his bow and as he readied his shot there was a loud bang out in the distance. A fireworks show was underway and the arrow left his grasp and he managed only two hundred points. Erza chuckled and positioned her lips beside his left ear.

"I look forward to hearing the story behind the bat." She whispered.

Bruce maintained his posture and paid her words no attention. He fired off his next shot pulling in eight hundred points, and managed another eight hundred with his third shot. Erza's mouth dropped open and her heart raced as he gathered another eight hundred points with his fourth and final shot.

"With a score of two thousand six hundred to your two thousand four hundred, I'd say I've won." Bruce walked passed her returning the bow to its owner.

Erza stood in place with clutched fists and kicked at the ground before returning her bow as well. Bruce situated in front where the prizes were and eyed an item worth 2, 560 points.

"I'll take that." Bruce pointed.

"Of course!"

The individual pulled the stuffed animal from the shelf and handed it to Bruce. Erza somewhat pouted crossing her arms but then bit back as Bruce stood in front of her with his arms extended.

"For me?" She blinked a couple times.

"Yes." Bruce dropped the teddy bear in her grasp.

Erza's face lit up and her cheeks turned somewhat red as she gazed at the heart positioned over the stuffed animal.

"Thank you..." She whispered.

His back was already to her and walked in the opposite direction. She purchased a small bracelet with the points she accumulated and followed after him.

"What about you," She ran up beside him, "Why didn't you get something for yourself, or one of your teammates?"

"Material things don't interest me."

They stopped by a Ferris wheel next. It was quite the view from up top, and the moon's glow radiated through the scattered clouds. Erza caught a glimpse of Bruce from her left and moved in closer beside him. She dropped her head over his shoulder and closed her eyes. It was yet another action he didn't anticipate, but even so he did nothing. Before long it came to an end and they were back on their feet down below. By then both had forgotten about the security officials.

They traveled along and jumped in line leading up a set of steps. After nearly a minute the gates opened and they stepped into a swan shaped boat and were pulled along down the stream with numerous others. Bruce gazed ahead at a cave/tunnel and atop the entrance in flashing red letters were the words "Tunnel of Love." Their boat passed through and there was a combination of red, purple, blue and pink lights that brightened the dark space. Ahead of them a bright light shined on a specific boat.

"Love light! Show each other some love!" A voice spoke from a hidden intercom.

Erza gulped as the couple ahead of them began making out. Her cheeks turned a bright pink as she blushed. As they passed through the cave the same light shined on different boats at random and the couples within them kissed. In minutes their boat passed through the cave and circled around back to where they started, but it was in that instant a light shined over their boat!

"Love Light. Show each other some love!"

Neither Bruce nor Erza made a move and that's when the "Kiss" chants came in from all around. Bruce gazed out in the distance and that's when he spotted them. He'd gotten so caught up in the moment he lost sight of the situation.

"Erza," Bruce whispered, "They're watching us."

She took a look for herself and spotted them. The kiss chants continued and Erza clinched her fists. She eventually let out a sigh and looked to Bruce with her left hand over his.

"It's ok." She murmured.

"What?" Bruce looked her in the eyes.

A moment of silence followed as Erza cleared her throat.

"Kiss me..." Erza blushed.

"Are you sure, we don't have to do this?"

Erza replied by pulling at his shirt and wrapping her arms around his neck. Their lips came within inches of each other and her eyes closed. In that moment it felt as though time itself stopped. The surrounding crowds cheered as they embraced in a passionate kiss, which was followed by flashes. Bruce trailed a hand over her left arm and just as her tongue swirled against his they broke the kiss. The crowds applauded and Erza's head lowered as their boat floated to the dock. Bruce was the first out and helped Erza up and they headed up the steps. Her heart raced with her emotions all over and she couldn't stop grinning. For a little over two minutes they walked the theme park and said nothing. Erza fiddled her fingers with her head still lowered.

"If you've got something to say, now would be the time to do so." Bruce gazed back at her.

They continued on as she eventually looked up.

"You're...a good kisser." Erza murmured.

Bruce glimpsed back at her for only a second but his expression nor posture changed.

"I've got one final system to hack, and we should separate before that happens. I'll meet with you back at the Petal inn when I'm finished."

"Ok." Erza nodded.

They separated and Erza's eyes fell over a nearby bar.

XXX

Two persons sat inside a bar area and were the only ones present besides the bar tender. It rained vigorously outside. Throughout the day they only managed to speak with a select few individuals, all of which didn't have much to say.

"So what do you think," The woman took a sip of what was inside her glass, "I don't like this place it feels like a zombie apocalypse. Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath."

"First on the agenda is to visit the orphanage, I intended to do so when we checked in but..."

"But what Clark?"

"I get the feeling the citizens of this town aren't accustomed to outsiders or travelers. And we did nothing to improve their suspicions in the past hours. That's something we'll just have to work around until we discredit or confirm our hunch." Clark replied.

Dinah took another sip before leaning forward with her elbows situated over the countertop. For the next couple moments they were silent and Dinah shoulder bumped Clark as she pushed off the stool.

"I'm gonna turn in for the night, but we'll get at it tomorrow."

Clark nodded whilst flipping through a newspaper. Dinah disappeared around the corner and up the staircase. In the following minutes the front entrance to the motel shot open and four individuals entered. Clark only slightly gazed over his shoulder before returning his attention to the reading material in front of him. His attention was again redirected as one of them spoke.

"That voice..." He said sitting up and repositioning in his stool.

He looked clear across the room and his suspicion was confirmed.

"Mirajane Strauss." Clark uttered.

She wasn't alone however with three others on either side of her, one in which he recognized.

"And Gajeel Redfox."

He assumed the others were members of Fairy Tail, both which were young girls. The group was decently soaked from the downpour, but that was the least of his concerns.

"What is Fairy Tail doing in Lawn Dawn town?" Clark thought silently.

It was much too convenient they would appear out of the blue in Lawn Dawn of all places to vacation, and the timing was also interesting. Were they in town for the same reason as he and Black Canary? Much as he doubted it, the possibility was there. Just as he and Canary the four of them checked into the hotel. Clark spun around in the stool as they headed in his direction and took the newspaper into his hands. The first girl wore casual clothing and had shoulder length white hair and cat ears extending from her head and a tail sticking out from her backside and a ribbon tied over it. The other wore a long gray skirt with brown boots and white shirt. Her blue hair was tied in pig tails and she carried a bag over her left shoulder.

"Carla and I are gonna get some rest, but we'll see you guys in the morning." She waved.

"Ok, sleep well Wendy." Mirajane smiled.

Carla and Wendy headed up the main staircase whilst Mirajane and Gajeel took a seat at the bar. There were two stools between them and Clark and both ordered a drink. Clark continued to look through the newspaper and came across a piece on the falsified signature of the king that led a handful of Fiore's top guilds to an undisclosed location.

"Let's hope she's right about this place," Gajeel took a sip of his soft drink, "Sort of like how it went down at that museum. Pity you and the others didn't gain anymore intel or capture the bastard operating the show."

"Yes, I know. The moment we...the main group jumped into action he detonated and destroyed everything. Every guild in some capacity and even as we speak are probably performing their own research on Aztiro Wies. Thus far we haven't had very much luck, but that doesn't mean other guilds haven't."

Gajeel shook his head looking directly at Mirajane.

"What about that Wonder Woman? Has Erza or anyone spoken with her since what happened the other night? She is the one that gathered everyone if I heard correctly."

Clark immediately lost hold of the newspaper at the mention of Wonder Woman. Their conversation had his attention, but he didn't move a single muscle or shift.

"That's right, and she's also the reason we're here...but I have to imagine a member or two of the Justice Guild are somewhere near." Mirajane said.

"You think the Justice Guild is in town?" Gajeel inquired.

"We're only here due to information Erza obtained from Wonder Woman, so of course it'd make sense they'd be investigating this location. If we so happen to meet with them we could operate together."

Gajeel scratched at his left cheek and went silent for some seconds.

"I don't know, I've always felt it best guilds work within their own circles. But they did pass on information so I guess that counts for something."

The dragon slayer drank what remained inside his glass and slammed it over the countertop. He then stood from the stool and fiddled with the keycard in his hand.

"Guess I'll go and check out what sort of scenery we'll be dealing with in this dump. You should probably think about getting some shut eye as well."

Gajeel turned the corner and headed for his room. Mirajane remained seated and took a sip of the strawberry smoothie in front of her. Clark watched her curiously from the corner of his eye and eventually dropped the newspaper pushing it off to the side.

"Here on vacation?" Clark posed.

Mirajane bit at her lower lip.

"Excuse me," She looked at him, "Are you talking to me?"

Clark re adjusted his glasses and gave her eye contact.

"You're Mirajane Strauss aren't you? Your guild is quite the inspiration for many, but you have done well captivating audiences through your modeling gigs as well. You've got talent, and it's no wonder you have quite the fan base given your attractiveness."

She blushed somewhat but maintained her posture.

"You're a Lawn Dawn resident?" Mirajane asked.

"No. I am a reporter from Clover town, I work under a man by the name Gtsei Tyru. I'm here on business and am looking to get a couple interviews and hopefully write up a small piece on the orphanage."

"A reporter huh," Mirajane stood from her stool and took her glass in hand. She moved downward and took a seat beside him, "But you do look rather familiar...have we met before?"

"We have not." Clark replied.

Mirajane wasn't completely convinced. His fascial features and even voice were dangerously familiar but she couldn't put a face with a name. Clark ultimately took his eyes off her and gazed at the countertop.

"Oh I'm sorry, you asked why I'm in town right? Well honestly it's just," Mirajane froze and thought about what she should say but knew it had to be anything but the truth, "Uhm you know..."

She bit at her tongue and felt as though she walked right into a trap.

"Vacation, or sightseeing?" Clark implied.

"Yes, you could say that."

Her eyes fell over the side of his face and knew she wasn't going crazy! They had met before, but she didn't know where or who he was. Without warning Clark stood from the stool and stretched.

"I've got a tone on the agenda tomorrow so I am going to turn in. I do hope to see more of you Mirajane."

"Please call me Mira, and what about you? I never got your name."

He was already halfway across the room and stopped.

"Clark Kent." He glimpsed back at her before turning the corner.

Mirajane sipped on what remained in the glass and then realized something.

"I really should get out of these wet clothes and wash up."

She took off up the steps and entered her room using a keycard. Once inside she stripped down out of her clothing and stepped into the shower. The steaming hot water was more than refreshing over her body and soaped up and sang to herself. With her eyes closed Mirajane shampooed her hair and prolonged with humming. Once the shampoo was cleared she opened her eyes and ran a finger through her hair. Mirajana spun around and her eyes fell over a small mirror positioned over the wall inside the shower. A set of eyes peered over her body just outside the curtains and looked to be a middle aged woman! Mirajane's heart raced as she screamed aloud!

The Fairy Tail mage forced the sliding door open and suspended the water by turning the nob. To her surprise no one was there! She hopped out of the shower and clicked on every light and searched not only the bathroom but the room entirely. Her search came up empty and even wondered if her eyes had played tricks on her.

While in deep thought Bruce sat at the bed's edge and looked to a nearby clock. The entrance door to the room swung open and entering was Erza. Without asking he knew she was a bit woozy and she carried a glass of champagne in her left hand and the stuffed animal in the other.

"How much have you had to drink?" Bruce questioned.

She finished what was left in the glass before slamming it over the countertop. Without warning she forced him backwards with her left foot and proceeded to kick off her boots. She jumped atop him in the bed gazing down into his eyes.

"Look at you already halfway suited up, what have I missed? You weren't planning on going out without your lover were yah? We're technically a couple while here."

"Pretend lovers, we're merely playing a role. I agreed to let you stick around, just as long as we did things my way," Bruce reached up and forced her off him and stood from the bed, "Besides they've been watching you like a hawk. There is something bigger at play, and though I don't believe all park officials are involved I'm convinced a handful of them are."

Erza leaned forward situating on her elbows.

"What're you saying?"

"You still owe me if you haven't forgotten," Bruce looked directly at Erza, "I won our little challenge earlier and in return I want you to stay behind. They're watching you closely and that'll make it difficult to get close."

"And you've got what exactly," Erza frowned sitting up, "You have nothing on these guys!"

Bruce walked toward his bag recovering the cape and cowl and suited up fully. Behind him Erza reequipped adding black stockings over her legs.

"Let me come with you!" She snapped.

Batman held a piece of paper and sat over the bed in front of her.

"This is a map out of Doves Paradise," Batman went on as Erza took a look over his shoulder, "I've marked off two of three locations and believe they've got a secret lair somewhere in this vicinity. In the hour we were apart I observed suspicious activity from a select few guards that gathered in this location. They mysteriously disappeared through this section. I eavesdropped on one of their conversations and..."

"And what?" Erza asked.

"The queen of Love. The queen of love was mentioned a couple dozen times, and they referred to her as mistress or sama." Batman replied.

"Meaning she's the one you're after...a member to the dark guild?"

"Likely, but I doubt she's anywhere near this location. I won't interrogate anyone until my suspicions are confirmed."

"So your goal is to find their hideout and spy on them? I'm missing the part why I have to stand by and do nothing!"

"Because I said. Infiltration is my specialty, and you'd only get in the way. More importantly they've picked up on your presence Erza, and due to your link to Fairy Tail I imagine they'll keep tabs on every move you make for however long you're here. Please trust me and stay out of th..."

Batman froze with his eyes on the map as Erza rubbed up against him from behind! She positioned one arm over his shoulder and the opposite hand over his arm.

"Please Bruce." She whispered with her eyes closed.

Batman glared and forced himself off the bed and away from Erza.

"If you think seduction or bargaining will change my stance you're mistaking. I'm not so easily persuaded, just stay here and get some sleep."

Batman dropped the slip of paper in his belt and uncovered a small device. He pressed at a button and activated the system overload to the security feed he infiltrated throughout the day. The dark knight then proceeded through the glass door and out onto the balcony where he glided off the ledge. Erza stood from the bed as he disappeared into the darkness and an idea formulated in her mind.

A training session was underway and Cheetah bull rushed Killer Frost! As she got in close Frost side stepped dodging her opponent's attack and dispensing a portion of ice at her legs that kept her from moving. Cheetah struggled to break free and hissed as rubber bullets were fired at her from behind!

"Bang, bang, bang hahaha! This is so much fun!" Harley shouted.

"Nice little move, but don't get too confident." Cheetah straightened her posture and broke out of the ice with ease.

"Not good, she's broken free!" Harley shot more bullets.

Harley was tackled to the ground from her left and White Rabbit tried wrestling away her weapon. Harley kicked White Rabbit off of her and managed a shot at her right shoulder. Both stood and White Rabbit threw her legs around Harley's neck and took her down. The female villain lost hold of her weapon.

Cheetah again charged Killer Frost throwing out a punch which Killer Frost jumped over. Landing on her feet she quickly spun around firing off another ice blast connecting with Cheetah's chest. She froze her body completely solid except for her head.

"I could go at this all day, but I think it's safe to say you're beat. I honestly didn't expect to have such a quick victory over you…but don't be too upset I've had worse."

Cheetah hissed at the comments as she again powered out of the ice using her physical strength. Without a worry Cheetah stretched right in front of her.

"If you haven't picked up on it already frosty girl, I've been holding back! The warmup is over, are you ready to get serious?"

"Holding back hhhhmm. If you expect to win you better put your best foot forward. Do remember we're being evaluated." Killer Frost spoke.

"You talk as if it's no big deal. Have you forgotten I battle with the princess of Themyscira on a constant basis? I can hold my own against anyone, this is merely a training exercise."

Harley was on the defense as she fell back after receiving a kick to the gut. White Rabbit ran forward with a follow up in mind but something wrapped around her ankle and she was forced off her feet and hung upside down.

"Red!" Harley yelled.

She jumped to her feet and sided with Poison Ivy. Not a moment later White rabbit was cut down by Mettallo's blade and landed on her feet.

"Two versus two, I like those odds." White Rabbit smirked.

Killer Frost blasted another round of ice but Cheetah dodged. From then on they didn't speak and engaged in close combat. Off to their right Circe jumped back and forth keeping out of the reach of Clayface's outstretched arms. In doing so he created a variety of sharp objects trying to cut her down. With every swing he altered the shape of his hands.

"Wow someone's trying so desperately to kill me. I'm sorry but you've got a face only a mother could love. We're complete opposites," Soaring upward she ran across one of his stretched arm's kicking his face inward, "I'm a beauty and you're a beast. I could down you in a second with one of my most powerful spells."

Not allowing him to counterattack Circe swiftly dived off his shoulder onto the ground. Before anything he expanded his face back into place and focused his eyes on her.

"Beauty you say…hahaha. Well than, how about this."

She watched as he placed both hands over his face moving them around promptly.

"What's he up to?" She whispered.

Circe thought about attacking, but also wanted to see what he had in mind. The motion of his hands progressively got slower until they completely stopped.

"Well what do yah think," He removed his hands from his face, "Which of us is prettier pumpkin?"

Circe bit at her tongue and grimaced!

"How dare you!"

He created a mirror image of her face with his own and spoke in her tone sounding identical!

"You think that's funny mocking me?! How disgusting!" She shouted.

Smiling widely Clayface reverted his facial features back to normal.

"So what do you think; could I pass as your better half hahahahahhaaa?!"

His hands dropped over his stomach and fell to his knees unable to stop from laughing. The expression on her face made it all the more worth it.

"You gross insect!" Her anger grew as he continued laughing.

Ready to finish things Circe situated a hand out in front of her and grinned. A pool of water surrounded and took down Clayface, and in that moment she added lightning. While the pool of water still surrounded him, she added electricity. With the mixture of water, electrify and lightning he was electrified several seconds. Lying out flat on his back Clayface was KO'd.

"That should teach him not to mock a sorceress of my level." She grinned.

Zeyo and his staff observed the villains from a back room and were impressed with what they saw.

"So what do you think sir?" Blendaz inquired.

"There are sixteen of them, so I've decided they should be broken down into four separate units of four. Whenever they set out on specific missions or tasks they will operate in these selected teams. The units will be constructed based on chemistry, and balance in strengths and weaknesses. I've decided Circe, Deathstroke, Black Adam and Mongul will lead these individual squads. They're not yet ready to disembark on Fiore and have yet to appoint who will be paired with whom."

"Well thought out your majesty. Fiore's guilds won't know what hit them once the Injustice Guild hops into the picture." Neisa rubbed her hands together.

Elsewhere two women walked side by side over a dirt road. One had long blond hair extending over her lower back and wore blue jeans with a black shirt and white sneakers. The other had long rad hair and bright green eyes and was dressed in her purple attire. They walked up a mountain side, and from there the city looked magnificent from up high.

"Kara can you hear me?" A voice spoke in her left ear.

The female kryptonian pressed at the small device installed in her left ear.

"I'm here. Starfire and I checked into a place in town and we're headed for the spot you marked. It's been a quiet night so far but I'm hoping things get flashier."

"Don't forget this is a mission, you aren't there to showboat. The information I forwarded you earlier is somewhat outdated. I'm transferring updated specs to your lacrima pad this instant. Something else interesting I managed to dig up was the archaeologist worked closely with a scientist Senyour Nez, and a doctor by the name Howie Smith. Together they worked in this hidden facility within the mountains."

"You think they had something to hide?" Kara asked.

"That's what you and Starfire need to find out, but be careful. With what happened the other night in the cave you should be on the lookout for booby-traps. I'm also forwarding you an address of the scientist just in case things don't work out there. If you need assistance I can be there in an instant via boom tube."

"No worries Cyborg, we got this. What about the others, have they followed up on some of the other locations?"

"Yes, Batman went off on his own to a theme park while Superman and Black Canary traveled to Lawn Dawn. Wonder Woman and the Flash went off to investigate some forest, and the others are sitting tight until we uncover more." Cyborg replied.

"Let's hope at least one of these paths aren't a dead end. Nice talking Victor but it's time we get to work."

Kara pressed at the button inside her ear and ended the transmission. An identical device was inside Starfire's left ear and she heard the entire conversation so had no questions. As they took another couple steps Starfire almost jumped out of her boots at a thunderous echo through the sky. Both women stared into the sky and spotted a long string of electricity tearing through the clouds!

"Looks like fun," Kori grinned, "Let's go check it out!"

Starfire took off into the air and didn't look back.

"Wait for me!"

Kara spun in circles at top speed and reemerged in blue armor, with an S symbol over the chest, red cape and red boots. She followed after Starfire and caught up quickly. It didn't take long for them to fly over and observe the action below. Four wizards fought together against an army of what looked to be robots in the form of birds. The wizards no doubt had the upper hand but it was one of them in particular that caught the attention of both Starfire and Supergirl. He was the most dominant of the four, and his electrical abilities were quite the sight. They watched for nearly two minutes as the team of mages put an end to the androids.

"Laxus behind you!" Someone with long green hair shouted.

Laxus gazed over his shoulder and spotted one of the android birds that hadn't been destroyed by his previous attack. Its head was detached from the body and then the torso simultaneously sliced in half by a heat wave! Laxus gazed upward in the direction of where the attack originated and spotted two women. The first was a woman clothed in purple, with green eyes and red hair. The second wore a red skirt, boots and cape, with blue armor. Her eyes were a bright fiery red but then quickly died down to a sky blue. More so than anything the S over her chest especially caught his attention. Both Starfire and Supergirl hovered down and landed in front of him.

"Very cool lightning show you put on," Supergirl grinned looking over his muscular physique, "You're my kind of guy."

Starfire frowned and jumped ahead of Supergirl.

"Hello I'm Starfire, and am princess of Tamaran!"

Laxus looked past her and at the symbol over Supergirl's chest. By that point Freed, Evergreen and Bickslow joined by his side.

"Associates of Superman I presume?" Laxus asked.

"Yes," A grin took shape on Starfire's face, "And she's his girlfriend."

Supergirl felt her heart drop perceiving the sinister expression on Starfire's face. The female kryptonian clinched her fists and marched forward grabbing and pulling at Kori's hair.

"Kal is my cousin! You'd say or do anything to gain an advantage wouldn't you!" Supergirl snapped.

The thunder god tribe gazed at one another and then back at the two women wrestling at each other. Laxus crossed his arms and groaned which captured the attention of both.

"What're you doing here?" Laxus directed at both.

They suspended any further tussle and faced him.

"We're following up on a lead. We're members of the Justice Guild just as Superman. The other night three of our members were investigating a museum in hopes of finding..."

"Aztiro Wies," Evergreen finished Starfire's thought, "Yes, we're doing the same. We aren't in need of any assistance so go ahead and fly home."

Evergreen waved them off and Starfire glared as a result.

"We aren't flying anywhere until our inspection is complete so," Starfire went silent as she noticed something on Freed's hand, "You're members of Fairy Tail?!"

"Yes." Bickslow answered sticking out his tongue and revealing his guild mark.

"Fairy Tail or not, we aren't going anywhere." Starfire stood firmly.

Both sides stared as the intensity increased before Laxus eventually let out a sigh.

"Fine..." His shoulders dropped.

"Fine what?" Starfire asked.

Laxus looked to the thunder god tribe.

"There's no use in arguing with them, it'll waist more valuable time. If they want to stick around then that's their choice, this new enemy seems to have it out for all of us." Laxus implied.

"If you say so." Evergreen said.

Starfire and Supergirl high fived as Freed stepped off to the side and took a knee in front of a steel circular seal.

"What is he doing?" Supergirl followed after him.

"Finishing the written runes. Those things appeared out of nowhere before he could complete the task. This here is the key to opening the hidden passage in the side of that mountain. It took us time to find this place, so I'm hopeful it'll lead to something." Laxus pointed out to the left of them.

Within a minute Freed uncovered the magical locks using written runes. He stood upward and everyone looked toward the mountain side and observed a square portion of the rock surface lower into the ground and in its place a perfect entryway.
