TWEWY: A Fall Into Honor:
This story is about how Joshua became the Composer. The story is from Joshua's point of view, and others if the story needs to. This is a prequel of the game The World Ends With You. TWEWY is made by Square Enix. And I own the OCs. This is a FAN FICTION and not the real prequel. Enjoy! =3
Happy New Year everybody! I hope everyone has a great year this year!
Week 2, day 1:
Chapter 36: Truly Blind Now:
"He can't sense whatsoever, Aleck." growled Izo coldly as he stepped forward and met Joshua's eyes that flashed in alarm.
Joshua stared at him then Ayumu who stared at Joshua's hand almost. "N-No… That can't be true…" whispered Joshua in a hurt cracked voice, he sucked in a painful breath before he hardened his eyes and screamed at Izo, "Y-You're lying!"
The maroon eyed teen kept glaring at him and bit his lip, the cold air around them intensified.
After a while Izo let out a fierce snarl and stalked towards him, "Sojourn breathing in that phantasm you have now." he grabbed Joshua's shoulder in which he began to squeeze. Joshua let out a yelp of pain right away from how hard he squeezed, he heard Mayu scream shrilly guessing she was horrified by what Izo was doing to him.
"I do not lie!" roared Izo and he squeezed harder. "I give cogent verities to those who are blinded by witlessness and fallacies! Face the actualities, Yoshiya Kiryu!"
It felt like Izo was going to crush his shoulder; it was the only thing that Joshua could pay attention to. So right away he began to thrash, a poor decision because it caused even more pain.
Soon Izo stopped but didn't remove his hand. "Envisage this pain… is the veracity, the truth you are safeguarding yourself from. You are functioning like a tyke who doesn't want to face the pain, wants grownups to kiss the wound and say it's all better. Feh, like sugarcoating everything helps the child live their life. You cannot do everything for them, how else will they learn from anything? Codding the child kills the child. They don't ruminate for themselves, because their mommy and daddy will do it for them!"
Joshua had a feeling that when Izo was abandoned by his parents at birth, it affected him deeply by how he was speaking to Joshua.
"You can never be so oblique with the truth!" snarled Izo squeezing Joshua shoulder again but with more pressure. "People need to comprehend that being indirect will never succor anyone to open their eyes and see the earthquake!" Now he let go and Joshua winced at the pain.
As Joshua rubbed his tender shoulder gently, he couldn't help shed a tear that he had been holding in this whole time. 'How selfish of me! I accused Izo of trying to tell me what was wrong, because I couldn't take another hardship that is affecting Ayumu. Some friend I am…'
He noticed that Mayu had come over timidly, giving Izo a frightened look as she passed by. She looked at Joshua's shoulder after gently moving her hand up the arm with light taps until she reached his shoulder blades. This was when Joshua yelped.
Mayu flinched moving back a couple steps back in alarm before she whispered in a concerned tone, "A-Are you okay? W-Will that p-power of y-yours help?"
Joshua sighed as he shrugged. "I use Rosetta Restore in battle." after a second he added with a chuckle, "Only one time it cured my exhaustion, but maybe it was because it healed my aching muscles."
Mayu gave a nod with a weak smile.
"So, what is her name?" asked Izo aloofly, making Mayu hide behind Joshua again. "I do understand you have not told us who she is."
Joshua gave a smile to Mayu to let her know it was okay before he looked at Izo. He soon replied brightly, "This is Mayu Akimori, my Partner." he waved behind himself to gesture to the shy girl. He added a second later, "She whacks things pretty hard in battle, so watch her mean swings."
He heard Mayu squeak in surprise, "W-W-What?"
"You stunned the Noise for quite some time." he remarked as he looked at her again, noting that her face now was beet red. "I strongly believe it's something to be proud of, Mayu."
"T-Thank you, Joshua…" she squeaked as her pretty eyes closed tightly as she rested her hands over her rosy face.
Izo raised an eyebrow at Joshua.
When Mayu seemed to calm down enough he nodded to Izo who snorted, "This is Izo Shuuito, Mayu." then he rested a hand on Ayumu's shoulder while the blind boy looked around slowly. "And this is my half-brother Mayu. He's Ayumu Ki."
"Hello." mumbled Mayu timidly with a tiny wave above Joshua's shoulder.
Without looking at anyone, Ayumu said quietly, "Hi."
A sigh of relief from Mayu made Joshua feel certain she was relaxing now from the tension of being in the presence of strangers.
"Now that we have apprised ourselves…" growled Izo in his usual grumpy additude. "We better speak about the Blind Brat."
Ayumu looked nearly at Izo this time while in silence.
"Okay," said Joshua gloomily as he closed his eyes. He held his chin as he asked, "When you mean Ayumu can't sense anything now… does that mean he doesn't have his psychic powers now, Izo?"
Mayu let out a gasp, loud enough for everyone to barely make out what she squeaked, "Psychic!?"
"Oops! I neglected to mention that!" exclaimed Joshua feeling dumb, he right away face-palmed himself. "Sorry Mayu…"
He heard her whisper softly, "I-It's fine, Joshua."
After another moment, Joshua saw Izo roll his eyes then he growled aloofly, "To initiate, I discovered this mate sprawled on the ground being minced by the Noise." Joshua bit his lip when he heard that. "I formed a Pact with him… but he never fought alongside me… feh!" Izo spat the last word in a fume. "I had to turn the Noise on their comrades. So I found it vexing that the Blind Brat never did anything but crawl around aimlessly on the ground like a worm! I knew something was atypical then…"
The cobalt haired teen scowled with a snort when Mayu tried to creep out from hiding to be beside Joshua, but she flinched and halted when she noticed him watching her. "As I struggled to get to 104, he kept tripping and falling! So I had to drag him to the Wall." he touched his temple with a mutter, narrowing his eyes when he glanced at Joshua. "He kept catechizing me if I was Izo…"
With a sigh Joshua mused as he locked eyes with the frozen boy, "He must have remembered the way you brought him into Pork City Tower when we had to find Iwao."
Izo gave a nod. "Precisely, that's what I assumed. Tsk, I sequestered him as my Partner solely so he wouldn't have to fade away because a stranger had no acumen whatsoever to discern what to do with him." he snorted as his dark blue fringe hid his expression slightly as he looked sharply away, "You two unfortunate fellas were my mates… so you get the idea… I'm only risking this because of that reason alone, feh… not because I care about any of you." His maroon eyes blazed lividly when he glared at the slightly messy haired blond. "Though I feel it's a waste of my efforts and time, feh."
Joshua truthfully hoped Izo would treat Ayumu better as his Partner during the week, not like how he selfishly gave Ayumu to the GM in order to not get erased. But suddenly, he had a halfhearted feeling that there was no way in the world Izo would ever dream of doing that. So Joshua hissed through gritted teeth to the walking freezer, loud enough for his ears only, "Izo, if you do anything, anything to risk Ayumu in the UG for erasure… I will do something to you that will scar you… strike you into nightmares beyond your own erasure!"
Izo's eyes hardened and darkened immediately, showing more of his ill temper.
Soon after a bit the walking freezer adjusted his white glasses. "He had his powers yesterday, and now he's truly blind."
Joshua cringed at his words. 'Truly blind now… Izo's right, Ayumu will finally experience what it's like to blind completely. If it wasn't for his psychic powers…' He didn't want to finish that thought; it made him feel sick from thinking about what would have happened to Ayumu if he weren't born with his powers. It was hard and awful to imagine what Ayumu would have had to go through if that was the case.
He right away stopped thinking about that to ponder something else, Izo had drew up a new point when he spoke: yesterday.
Joshua felt like he haven't heard that word in a long time. He always remembered and referred to each day in the UG as day 1, day 2, and etc. without much thought. It just occurred to him that he dropped the days of the week names for simple numbers, and he wondered why though, but it seriously gave him a ghastly sensation about it. Whether it was from talks from Sanae or not, he wasn't sure.
Right away he took out his chipped cellphone, flipping it open to stare at the screen to see the date. After he widened his mouth in disbelief, he cried while looking up at Izo, "Hey you're right Izo! It's the 21st of November today!"
Even though the main issue at hand was the fact that Ayumu couldn't sense anything, he found it surprising that he switched to a less dismal thought so quickly.
However Izo seemed to not find the fact that the topic was changed so fast was surprising; because right now he seemed to instead focus on Joshua's realization. "Hmph, I see that you've noticed… Thus that means, Aleck, that each day in the Reaper's Game tallies to the tangible date." Izo gave a cold remark after that, "I saw that last week from this day was the 14th, and every next day subsequently was the next date." he closed his eyes as he continued, "I've kept track of it this entire time ever since I awoke."
"Yeah, I find it very interesting to know that actually," admitted Joshua astonished. "It's hard to believe I didn't realize this sooner." He looked at Ayumu sadly, "But… we should discuss this tomorrow. I'm more worried about Ayumu for the moment."
Curtly Izo nodded, he bitterly growled, "Indeed… Tomorrow."
There was a pause of silence before Joshua asked in annoyance, "Okay then, do you think Ayumu doesn't have his psychic powers because of the Entry Fees?" the thought of them made Joshua clench his hand in anger.
Izo glanced briefly at Ayumu coldly then Joshua. He gave another nod.
"But… how can he… cherish his psychic powers… if he cannot feel… no, has no emotions at all?" Joshua frowned deeply from how confusing this was.
The dark blue haired boy swiped his bangs out of his face while glaring at Joshua. "Feh, can't you tell? He may not treasure them… so let's rearticulate that." like always Izo's bangs drifted back to cover his eye, and it seemed to annoy him but he ignored it as he explained, "If he cannot apprize… then throughout last week he depended on them."
Again, Izo brought up a fair point.
Last week Ayumu used his powers to read everyone's minds to understand what was going on, and also what everyone was saying due to his own Entry Fee making him deaf to what they said. But despite that, Joshua vividly remembered how many times Ayumu would boast when he was still alive that his powers were awesome. There was a good chance that was another reason it was his Entry Fee.
Joshua felt a pang in his heart, he missed those days, when Ayumu had his emotions and didn't believe that the 'soul something game' was real. Back then, everything seemed simpler and nicer, not as horrible and complex as now-
For a second, Joshua felt dizzy. Right away he pressed a hand to his temple. He knew this was a lot to take in today, which was a bit exhausting frankly. But then after a few more seconds passed, his surroundings began to spin and blur out of focus. He knew he was falling down fast, along with Mayu, Izo, and Ayumu.
When he landed on the ground, he had lost consciousness.
To be continued…
