NORMALCY AND DANGER
"Ah, they've arrived." Gaea stated as she looked over at her best friend. "I hope they didn't run into too much trouble whilst collecting our guests."
"Let's hope not." Serenity stated in agreement, as she glanced over at Serena and Suzanne. "It would not do for them to lose their tempers, especially with the girls linked closely to them."
"That's true." Gaea muttered as she looked up.
**I hope they haven't lost their temper. ** Gaea thought as she bit her lip. **Edward I am not so worried about, but Darien and Drake are another story especially with what happened earlier. **
Serena and Suzanne remained quiet as they listened into the Gaea's and Serenity's conversations; thankfully their mother had not caught the sullen looks that displayed upon their features. Darien and Drake were blocking them out, which caused an issue, knowing that the two had possibly lost their temper with something that had been said, and it was worrying them to question what had caused the boys to lose their temper. Suzanne and Serena looked between themselves, making sure that no one caught them, or the glances on their features, as they waited for their other halves and the Senshi to make their appearance.
Serena was feeling downcast, and shivered as she curled into her sister, praying that nothing bad had happened to warrant both boys from losing control of their temper. She knew it had been the Senshi team to possibly say something which would only cause doubt, as the countdown to their final battle begun, the bond between the sisters opening as they lapsed into silence.
:: Suzy, I'm worried about them. :: Serena sighed into the link with her sister. :: Something must have happened if they're blocking us out. ::
:: I'm sure it's fine, Serena. :: Suzanne whispered as she squeezed her sister's hand in comfort.
:: We'll speak with them when they come in and we have some time alone. :: Suzanne confirmed at her sister's worry, and shook her head slightly.
:: Suzy. :: Serena whimpered as worry leaked into the bond.
:: Worry not, sister, it will be fine. :: Suzanne comforted, their hands still remaining joined.
:: I hope so. :: Serena murmured as she leaned back against the sofa, her silver blue eyes fluttering. :: These visions and nightmares are causing a headache for all of us, and I want it to stop, because I've had enough. ::
Suzanne gave a light nod, and breathed a sigh of relief as the barrier for the links with their other halves came down in their mind, and the girls could feel the anger that Darien and Drake were struggling to hold back. Without warning, the front door slammed open, and everyone jumped visibly in their seats in fright and shock at the loud sound as Darien and Drake stormed in, with both pairs of sapphire blue eyes sparkling with anger.
Serena and Suzanne jumped to their feet, their eyes narrowing behind the reason of the anger, feeling it flutter through their figures as they walked over to their other halves. Their arms wrapped around them and snuggled in closely, the group being closely linked to each other since they were children given what had happened in the past, and with Serena being an empath, she could tell the emotions from everyone with a blink of her eyes without them knowing of the cognitive ability. Suzanne knew of her sister's abilities and normally supported her, but the only drawback was that it had caused Serena great difficulty in sleeping when her mind and abilities were running double time due to the effort of so many emotions around her.
Darien and Drake looked down at the girls, as their powers came and covered the active thoughts of worry, their anger turning to become nearly unnoticeable in the wake of what the girls were feeling. Darien's arms tightened around Serena, in the wake of this morning's activities and events as they walked back to the couch.
"We're home." Darien breathed out in relief, as he wrapped his arms around Serena, his anger dropping to become unnoticeable. "We've brought annoying company, but I don't want anything to happen to you or our little one, sweet pea."
"I'll be fine." Serena stated with a smile.
"What happened for you to block us out though?" Suzanne asked as she pulled away from Drake, looking at her sister with a frown. "This is not normal, even for both of you?"
"The Senshi are big headed." Edward's voice came from behind, as the brothers looked over their shoulder. "The boys were very close to nearly losing control on their tempers and unwillingly blocked the both of you out without knowing it."
"Father, that's enough." Darien and Drake barked.
Darien and Drake, with Serena and Suzanne, moved back over to the seating area ignoring the Senshi in the process as they also walked into the house. Their mothers looked worried, but the four were quick to shake their heads, it was a matter that they would deal with later, but for now the oncoming battle and war that would approach was their first and utmost priority. Edward followed at a leisured pace behind his sons and took a seat next to his wife, as the Senshi quietly settled around. Serena curled up into her husband's arms, as a yawn escaped her lips, Suzanne softly smiling as she caught her sister finally calm down after the hectic morning.
"What's going on, Serena?" Setsuna asked as she looked around.
"I'm afraid you'll need to sit down for this." Suzanne muttered as she looked at Drake. "I would rather that you guys don't stand, since we have enough seats in place."
**I swear these idiots will pay for what has happened. ** Suzanne thought as she clenched her fist. **This is a first for Darien and Drake to be pushed past their 0limits, especially since it happened quite a lot in the past. **
"What's happened?" Ami asked, as she looked between the two.
"Serena, you look like you've not gotten much sleep?" Ami stated as she caught a further look at Serena, biting her lip in worry at the exhaustion that was clear as day. **I'm not going to like this, am I? **
"Ladies, my daughters need not ask you once more." Serenity barked as she growled at the individuals. "Please take a seat and we'll discuss this."
**Oh, this is unbelievable. ** Serenity thought with a shake of her head. **I even question how both Serena and Darien managed to put up with them as long as they did. **
The Senshi looked up at Serenity's orders, and quickly rushed over to settle down, feeling that they should be following her words rather than causing any sort of issues. Serenity's figure screamed royalty to them, and Suzanne and Serena could only shake their heads as they struggled to hold back their laughter, from their mother's ordering words. The Senshi had not known that their mother now, had used to be the Queen of the Silver Millennium, Queen Serenity herself but that was a matter for a different day to be settled.
"Ladies, if you would like to begin?" Serenity asked as she looked over at her daughters.
"Yes mother." Serena and Suzanne called.
"Why are we here at this time on a weekend?" Minako was first to ask, as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. "It seriously isn't good for the Goddess of Love to have bags under her eyes, considering I've not had my full 8 hours of beauty sleep."
"I'll get to that in a minute, but could you shut up for a moment or two." Serena barked as her eyes sparked with anger. "You are really becoming aggravating, you know. If you haven't had your eight hours sleep, there are plenty to rooms upstairs for you to get that, but unfortunately I do not wish to repeat myself a second time."
"Serena." Suzanne muttered, as she squeezed her sister's shoulder. "Calm down."
Serena rolled her eyes and nodded, as Darien squeezed her hand from where she was resting in his comforting arms, knowing that they were only worried about causing her further stress in the current situation, and especially from the fall out of the events of the last week. She had miscarried twice in the early stages of her marriage, and did not need a third one to be added to the list, knowing that it would only cause problems if both she and Darien wanted more children, than just the one son, especially given that their two daughters were undercover on the Universal hub, who had been birthed more than 10,000 years ago.
The Senshi had quickly shut their mouths upon hearing the underlying anger that had clouded Serena's tone and were tight-lipped not to cause further issues. Minako crossed her arms over her chest, and frowned at the attitude that she was receiving, wanting to know more about the events that they were due to face but also wanting to get some form of sleep, since she had been having weird dreams all night, that her parents weren't her own and she belonged into a different family.
"One, the Dark Star has set up their base on this planet." Serena stated with a frown, as her eyes flickered to gold, green and then back to their normal hue. "Their Lord, who I'm going to maim once I get my hands on him, has already set their base up on this planet, where it is, unfortunately I haven't an idea."
"Serenity, mind your language." Serenity called at Serena, a warning clear in her tone.
"Yes mother." Serena stated with a roll of her eyes. "By the way, that wasn't rude?"
"What does that mean for us?" Rei asked, as she glanced between the two.
**I don't think I'm going to like the sound of this. ** Rei thought as she watched Suzanne look to Serena.
"It means war has partially begun." Suzanne stated as she leaned against Drake. "The Generals are going to begin their full assault soon and we need you to be prepared for it. What was encountered in the last week was only the beginning and with Cybele making her appearance in and out, things will only be more difficult as time goes by, alongside another issue that I will not discuss until she makes her appearance."
"WHAT!" The voice of the Senshi team lit into pandemonium.
Serenity and Gaea slapped their hands over their ears, as the shout reached their ears, but Serena, Suzanne, Darien and Drake had winced sharply at the shrill noise that erupted. The Senshi began to speak over each other, struggling to be heard, as questions were fired one after the other, causing Serena and Suzanne to begin to get migraines as they struggled to understand what was being asked. It hadn't taken long before a shrill whistle cut through the air, courtesy of Serena's older brother Aiden Moon, and the whistle had done its task effectively shutting the Senshi up.
"Thank you, Aiden." Serena stated as she breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's no problem, little sis." Aiden stated with a nod as he stepped back. "It was getting annoying hearing them squabble like infant children."
"Yes I know." Serena stated with a small smile, before turning back to the Senshi. "Now, if you ladies are done acting like babies, I should be able to continue mentioning the facts and the situation."
**I hope they won't launch into a riot again, it was a headache before, I don't fancy dealing with a migraine for a second time. ** Serena thought with a small sigh and curled into her husband. **I'd rather go back to sleep and not have any disturbances. **
"You have explaining to do, Lady Serena." Haruka muttered, as her eyes narrowed, at the closeness between the two. **Why is she still with him, after the pain we all caused her millennia ago, unless she is only with him because of their future and everything else. **
Serena and Suzanne glanced at each other, but Serena spared a small nod in agreement, before turning away to catch as Suzanne nodded and took a seat off to the side, and allowed her sister the room that she needed. Serena spared a quick glance at Darien and Drake, who nodded in reply to the unspoken question. They would stand by her side throughout this war and nothing and nobody would be able to tear them apart, as Serena smiled and turned back to the Senshi. Her parents would understand, and so would Vanessa, Aiden and Aurora as she quickly spared a glance over to them.
"I had a nightmare in the early hours of this morning." Serena stated as she looked around the room. "Unfortunately it has set both Drake and Cybele on edge, regarding how bad it was."
**I don't need to reveal my fears to them. ** Serena thought with a light sigh. **I am going to have a word with my Soldiers, and see if they can tighten the security already in place. **
"And you've only informed us now!" Makoto snapped, as she stood from her seat.
"Make no mistake, Senshi!" Serena growled, as her eyes flashed golden, signalling a new arrival. "I am not in a coherent mind when I wake from a nightmare." Serena continued in the same tone. "It can take hours for me to release myself out of one to know I am with family or Drake and Cybele both have to force me out of it directly."
"That's what I felt." Rei whispered as her eyes widened.
**How can Serena suffer through this? ** Rei thought, as she shook her head. **It must happen nearly every day, and yet her family do not seem surprised by it though how could I ignore it without issues. **
Serena groaned and nodded, as she moved her arms around, when her bones began to surge with the agony of being forced awake. She mostly likely knew that Rei had felt the fear and silence, and her brow furrowed as she closed her eyes. Drake glanced over and frowned, even as Serena opened her eyes, and everyone nearly fell over at the next question, as it was one that they were surprised to hear about.
"You're a seer, aren't you?" The question was unexpected.
**You're joking. ** Gaea thought to herself as she slapped a hand to her head, followed by several groans across the room. **That was not what was expected. **
"I was." Serena whispered as she looked over to Rei, as she blocked the golden glow from her eyes. "I was born with it, and in this time, I contain half of what I did 10,000 years ago."
"None of us knew." Ami whispered through the silence. **How could we know, if Serena had not told us. **
"It is in my legacy, Mercury." Serena blinked, and took a deep breath, at the golden warmth that spread through her. "I remain hidden until such a time that requires my need, especially when the Universe is in peril."
"Can we not storm the enemy's base?" Makoto asked, as she looked up.
Serena and Suzanne looked at each other, before turning back to the protectors with Suzanne shaking her head. Unfortunately the response had caused issues, as Makoto growled whilst Haruka suddenly stood from her spot and caused the girls to step back. Serena growled in anger, and her power flared, forcing Haruka to sit down in shock at the power levels. Serena and Suzanne were the leaders of the Universal Soldiers for a reason and it was due to the power that they carried within the palm of their hands, before Serena whimpered as the golden glow became more powerful and warred to get her to calm.
"Why can't we?" Haruka asked as she sat back down.
"Because they know that I know." Serena was blunt enough. "And I don't think you want to face the person that I'm sure Cybele mentioned, since she's about ready to pummel you into the ground."
"In this case, if Serena already knows, then it means that they know that you know." Suzanne seconded, as her eyes narrowed at the words that echoed from her sister. "And unless you want end game, you will listen to what we request."
"They'll be prepared and we'll die." Hotaru whispered, as she looked up at the two.
"And that's putting it in the best way possible." Suzanne nodded with no remorse.
**You need this to be smacked into your heads, Senshi, that you are not strong enough. ** Suzanne thought as she nodded to Serena. **If we need to be blunt enough, we will do so. **
As quiet reigned in the large room, a flash of lavender announced the entry of one of the Cosmic Princesses, her name, Crown Princess Melanie Cosmita and the eldest cousin to Serena and Suzanne. Melanie had light lavender hair and dark blue eyes as she glanced over at her cousins, with a jewelled tiara resting on her head, and her dark purple dress fluttered around her figure. Melanie nodded over to Serenity and Jonathan, who had looked shocked at the appearance, before nodding over to Gaea and Edward, and giving a slight curtsy to show her allegiance as she was in front of higher royalty than herself.
"Cousin, what brings you here at this time?" Serena asked as she curled into Darien, her head barely lifting from his shoulder. "I thought I warned you and the others not to hover around me and stop making repeated visits."
"I apologise for my harsh entry, little moon." Melanie replied, with a slender raise of her eyebrow. "This is a courtesy call, as I have news from the Alliance that you may need to hear about. Even though I can check up on you at the same time, considering the scare you gave us all last week, after freezing us in place."
"Good tidings, cousin." Suzanne muttered, and glanced at her sister. "She's fine, Mel, albeit you know how the situation is."
"Good tidings, precious one." Melanie stated with a nod. "Thank you for the update, my dear, I will pass it on and hope we have no issues."
"What do I owe the pleasure of?" Serena asked as she raised an eyebrow, scowling in her sister's direction. "It is not normal for you to bring Alliance news like this, cousin?"
**I am not going to like her words. ** Serena thought with a frown.
"Aye, I apologise." Melanie stated with a nod. "The Alliance have hinted it as an urgent matter for you, it is from mother and Aunt Sincerity."
"That's straight to the point." The group heard Minako mutter.
Serena raised a slender eyebrow, and Melanie couldn't help but chuckle at the familiarity of the look, before she shook her head. Serena waved her hand and Melanie took that as the cue to continue, as they ignored what was being muttered, but Serena still held the indifferent look on her features. A small growl escaped from Suzanne, as she glared at the Senshi for making a fuss, whilst she and her family continued to listen into Melanie's words knowing that their times of peace were over.
"Don't give me that look, little Moon." Melanie wrinkled her nose at her little cousin.
"What is the notice, cousin?" Serena asked with a frown. "I will not ask a second time, you know that much."
**I'm not happy with the Senshi. ** Serena thought to herself, repeatedly, ensuring that it would stop her from causing bloody murder. **I am not happy with the Senshi. **
"Mother and Aunt wish an order for you, little moon. It has been backed by the entirety of the Universal Alliance, and those Soldiers of yours whom remain awake." Melanie finally breathed once she caught her breath. "The time is drawing near for you to send out a call for your Soldiers to be awoken, in times of distress. Athena's awakening only draws near and near as this planet will have to fight once more for its survival."
"She wishes a Universal call?" Serena whispered across the room.
"That she does." Melanie answered with a bowed head. "Quartz and Shawn are getting impatient with the situation, especially given that there are Soldiers who can fight against your spell and await the summons."
"Inform her it'll be done." Serena growled, as she rolled her eyes. "Quartz is the only one who can fight against what I bring, outside of Natalia and Madison."
"Of course, my lady." Melanie stated with a small curtsy.
"You and yours must be ready as well, Melanie." Serena was blunt as she issued the next statement, her eyes narrowing in warning. "I will not take no for an answer from my Soldiers, do I make myself clear!"
"Yes my dear." Melanie smiled brightly and bowed in agreement. "We shall answer when you are ready, the Shadows and Sprites will not say no, that much I am positive on. However, you must be aware, little one, the time is drawing near where those prophecies will take effect and you must be ready." Melanie stated, as she glanced straight at Serena.
**I really hope you know what you are doing, Serenity. ** Melanie thought with a frown as she turned to look around them. **The question remains is how far will you go to protect those that you love? **
Melanie knew it first hand on how far Serena would go to protect those that she loved, and prayed that the sacrifice wouldn't need to be given. She and Drake knew it upon watching Serena give it everything she had, to ensure that the curse which Quartz had placed, didn't take full control and destroy the entire system. Yet, as Melanie watched Serena, she knew that there would be no stopping the leader of the Universal Soldiers once her mind was set on something. She prayed that the life sacrifice wouldn't need to be given to rescue those unwillingly caught in between. Melanie frowned as she watched Serena curl into Darien, and knew that their time was fast approaching.
"It'll be done, Melanie." Serena whispered, as her voice broke through her thoughts.
"You'd do well to cover your tracks, little Moon." Melanie scowled, as she spun to look at Serena. "We will make sure that what happened a week ago does not happen again."
"You need to watch your backs closely, cousin." Serena snapped, as her eyes flared gold. "Not with the Lady of Vengeance at my beck and her sister only will follow, her time is drawing near where three parts of Terran Seal will only belong to us."
"I only worry for your safety, my dear." Melanie sighed, as she bent her head. "Your power flare hadn't gone unnoticed by the Alliance in the last time."
The Senshi, her family and her sister looked at her in shock, as she gave a feral grin and flashed her teeth in anger. She knew what power flare her cousin was talking about and Serena glared up at Melanie, as she stood from her seat, and walked over to the window in the corner. Her eyes were flashing with power, knowing it was just before she had died in the past, and the only people who knew were Melanie and Drake given that they had been present when Serena had died as she locked the strongest of evils away from terrorising her home and system, unfortunately it was caught by the Universal Alliance as she breathed her last.
"What power flare are you on about?" Suzanne asked, as she glanced between the two.
"Don't do you dare!" Serena spun on her heel.
"You and I both know they will need to know, Serenity." Melanie whispered at her cousin's glare. "You cannot hide from this."
"They don't need to know." Serena squeaked, as she grasped at her head.
"Yet the sacrifice you gave, managed to save them." Melanie stated as she took a step forward. "You gave your life to save a system that did nothing but bring you pain."
Serena moaned as she fell to her knees, and curled into a ball at the painful memory that lashed out at her from behind her closed eyelids, knowing that it was one of her mistakes that she had wrought on herself. The others around her gasped, as Serena's clothes unravelled to form into the uniform of Sailor Universe, before Drake moved from his position, and pulled her into his arms, beginning to rock her and her family began to feel as their control snapped once more. The Senshi were silent as Darien and Suzanne moved over to where Serena and Drake were seated next the window sill, and silence filled the room at Melanie's words.
