As Bad Wolf stepped through the crack she reached out, into the past, searching...searching...searching...There! She established a link and a moment later she materialized in a small chamber. An older Time Lord was bent over a table incessantly scribbling on a paper. He spun around at the sudden flash of light.

"Who are you and how did you get in here?" he demanded.

"You have been tasked by Rassilon to reconfigure the Eye Of Discord into a weapon to defeat the Nestenes," Bad Wolf replied.

"Did Rassilon send you?" he asked and then glanced at the open door as if the other Time Lord might be lurking nearby. "Is he...is he here?"

Rassilon's temper was well known, but she wasn't there about him.

"Rassilon is in the Council Room, or, will be."

Why were tenses so difficult?

"He's going to want an update." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I just...I just can't..." He glanced at Bad Wolf and then paused stepping toward her. "You're eyes. They're strange." He took a closer look. "It's the irises. It's as if they have dancing specks of light. I've never seen eyes like these."

"The weapon," Bad Wolf reminded him, nodding at the table.

"Yes. Right," he said, turning around and walking back to the table with Bad Wolf following. "As I was saying. I've done everything I can. Tried everything I could think of, but it's still unstable."

She ran her hand over the wood and gear designed box.

"Don't...don't do that," he said, carefully removing her hand from the weapon.

"I can stabilize your weapon," she said.

"You?" he asked as if he didn't think a mere girl was capable of such a feat.

Bad Wolf ignored his ignorance. He didn't know who and what she was, but he about to find out.

"Yes, I can stabilize your weapon, but at a price."

"If you can make this weapon stable then I will pay whatever price you ask," he replied, doubting that she could do it, but if, by some slim chance, she could, then he wouldn't have to fear Rassilon's wrath, which would be worse than any price she wanted.

"The price will be paid by whoever uses the weapon."

"Sorry?" he asked, thinking he must have misheard her. "What does that mean?"

"There are not specks of light in my eyes. It's time energy."

"There's time energy in your eyes?"

How could she have time energy in her eyes? Of course she couldn't, she must be putting him on, but that would be easy to disprove. He walked over to a cabinet on the other side of the room and grabbed his medical scanner.

"There's time energy in every cell of this body."

"Well, of course, all Time Lords and Ladies have time energy in our DNA. Everyone knows that," he said, returning to the table with his eye scanner. "Yet it doesn't show up in our eyes. Hold still please."

He lifted the scanner, which was about the size of an Iphone 5. He activated it, scanned her right and then left eye. According to the scanner those specks of light were, indeed, time energy. How is that possible?

"I'm neither a Time Lord nor a Time Lady," she said.

He nearly dropped his scanner.

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I'm human..." she paused, confused. "Was human? I was human."

"You were human?" he asked, not even sure what to do with that information.

Humans weren't allowed on Gallifrey and even if they were how did she get there? And how did she wind up with time energy coursing through her? And what does she mean was human?

"I can stabilize your weapon as I said. It will the most powerful weapon in all of creation."

He liked the sound of that. Rassilon would be pleased to possess the most powerful weapon in all of creation. He would be well rewarded for his scientific triumph. Then he remembered what she said.

"But anyone who uses it will have to pay a price," he replied. "What sort of price?"

"I will merge with the Eye Of Discord stabilizing your weapon, but it will also have a conscience."

He wasn't sure how she planned on merging with the Eye Of Discord, but then humans weren't allowed on Gallifrey and humans definitely didn't have time energy running through their veins.

"So, you would become the weapon's sentient interface," he mused, glancing from her to the Eye.

She would be the interface. She would decide what price the user paid. He wasn't sure he liked the idea of a sentient weapon, but he knew if he didn't create a weapon strong enough to defeat the Nestenes then he would face Rassilon's fury.

"Once I merge with the Eye Of Discord the weapon will be capable of destroying all traces of an enemy in a single moment," Bad Wolf revealed, knowing he was on the verge of turning down her offer.

She needed him to agree. If she merged with the Eye without his consent he might destroy the weapon and it would never find its way into the Omega Arsenal where it needed to be so the Doctor could steal it.

"You're saying, in a single moment's time, this weapon will be powerful enough to destroy every trace of an enemy?" he asked, trying to wrap his mind around the idea.

"Yes."

If it wasn't for the time energy in her eyes he might've thought it was a trick. That she was just trying to get her hands on the Eye Of Discord. But there was the time energy. If she was right Rassilon would reward him. If she was wrong he would be no better off than he was right now. If she tried to steal it he would use the blaster in his pocket.

"I would be grateful for your help," he finally decided, motioning at the box.

Bad Wolf placed her palm on top of the weapon, willing her essence to merge with the Eye Of Discord. The specks of time energy dancing in her eyes began to glow until the golden light consumed them.

Rose could feel the time energy waking up, burning through her body. Every atom was being ripped apart to be reformed as she merged with the Eye. She screamed from the pain searing through her.

He stepped back and watched the once human girl as first her eyes began to glow and then that glow seemed to take over her whole body. It was the time energy. Somehow she was infused with it. He would've liked to know how that came about, but he was more focused on the weapon.

Her body began to break apart on a molecular level, as if every atom in her body was turning into golden dust. That dust then floated to the top of the box, gathering together as it landed, then seeped into the wood and metal. He stood there for a few minutes, hardly able to fathom what he just witnessed. Then walked over and gingerly picked the weapon up, knowing that what he held was now the most powerful and dangerous weapon in all of creation.

He headed out the door and down the hall to the Council Room to find Rassilon.
