Chapter 36
Nike's POV
Harvey and I ran at top speed through the screaming crowd, yelling for Herobrine, Steve and Alex. We could've stayed to help with the problem at hand, but we had no idea what to do. We didn't know whether Herobrine would be fine with this thing dying, or if he wanted it alive. Plus, the last OreSpawn boss we fought almost killed me, and though I was almost completely healed because of the pixie dust, a sharp bolt of pain shot up my spine every time I took a step. I didn't want to face something that dangerous anytime soon.
"Herobrine! Steve! Other girl I don't know the name of!" Harvey shouted.
"Her name is Alex," I corrected. "She's their sister."
Harvey looked confused. "They have a sister?"
"Yeah. That's kind of what I just said."
"I know."
"You're impossible."
"I know."
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "We don't have time for this! Herobrine! Alex!" I wasn't watching where I was going, and I suddenly crashed into someone in front of me. The girl's forehead slammed into my shoulder
"Hey! Watch it!" the girl yelled, raising a hand to her head.
I winced. "Dude, your head is hard. Are there, like, rocks in there or something?" Then I saw who it was. "Oh. Hi, Alex."
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Just watch where you're going next time."
I turned and raised my eyebrows at Harvey, sending him a message with my eyes. My Notch, this girl is more rude than Dana.
He nodded. Yeah. I figured. He turned to Alex. "Where are your brothers?"
She huffed, as if she was tired about people talking about her brothers. "They're coming."
"Good," I said, "cuz we don't know what to do."
Alex shrugged. "Kill it."
Harvey sighed. "Herobrine created this thing, and we don't know if he would be fine with that."
Alex pushed past us. "Whatever," she repeated. "Our best bet is to get rid of it." She drew a diamond sword and walked calmly through the swarm of people as if she were walking through a park. With a deadly weapon. That's not weird. Everyone does that.
I turned around to go after her, when someone crashed into me from behind. Something hard hit me on the back of the head. I stumbled and Harvey reached out and grabbed my shoulders to steady me.
I straightened and whipped around to see who it was. Herobrine had one hand on his chin and a grimace on his face. A man stood next to him. The guy looked just like Herobrine, except his eyes weren't white, and he wasn't as muscular.
"Sorry," Herobrine muttered to me. "Where's Alex?"
I pointed with one hand and rubbed the back of my head with the other. Herobrine nodded and he and Steve took off after his sister. Harvey and I exchanged a glance, then followed close behind.
We broke through the crowd surrounding the King. "So, what do we do?" I asked.
Herobrine glanced up at the flailing dragon. "We kill him. If we don't, he could destroy the Nether, and if the Nether is destroyed, the Overworld will be too. Plus, if we kill him, he'll drop a Prince Spawn Egg."
"How would the Overworld be destroyed as well?" Harvey looked confused.
"We don't have time for this!" Alex yelled. "Let's go kill stuff already!" She ran at full speed toward the King, brandishing her sword in front of her.
"She seems a bit… overexcited," I said, as Alex jumped, grabbed the King's tail, and scrambled up his back.
"Yeah." Steve shrugged. "She's always like that." He looked up at his sister. The King was waving all three heads around, snapping at Alex. "Should we go help her?"
"Probably," Herobrine nodded. We ran to where the battle was happening, unsheathing our weapons on the way.
Mitch's POV
"Jerome!" I yelled. "JEROME! JEROME, WHERE ARE YOU?"
I shoved my way through the crowd, looking for my Bacca. Then I caught sight of a dark red bunnyhug with a mess of blond hair over it.
"Lachlan!" I ran over to him. "Have you seen Jerome?"
He shook his head. "No, I haven't. Why?"
"I can't find him anywhere."
"I'll get Vikk, Rob and Preston, and we'll all look together. You just stay here, alright?" He saw the worried expression on my face and put a hand on my shoulder. "Calm down, okay? We'll find him. He's probably fine."
I took a deep breath. "Okay." Lachlan dashed off to find the others in The Pack. I stayed put, as he'd requested, but I was finding it really hard to not run off and try to find Jerome on my own, even though I knew there would be a better chance of finding him with all five of us. Still, I couldn't help panicking inside. What if Jerome fell into the lava? What if the King ate him? What if he accidentally hit a zombie pigman and got killed? What if-
My thoughts kept going on and on like that, each "what if" more terrifying than the last. It eventually got to the point where I was practically insane with worry, and it took every ounce of my willpower to not tear my hair out. After what seemed like ages, Lachlan finally came back, with Preston, Rob, and Vikk in tow.
I ran toward them, and Vikk started making a plan right away. "Alright, we're going to split up. Rob and Preston, you guys check near the castle. Lachlan, you see if he's in the crowd or fighting off the King. Mitch, you and I will go up to those cliffs and check up there."
We all got into our respective groups and ran off in different directions. On the way to the cliffs, I was still trapped in my thoughts. What if Herobrine's army thought he was an enemy, and he's being tortured to death? What if Nike's or Seto's curses are acting up, and they've killed him?
I shook my head vigorously. Snap out of it, Mitch. You're going to drive yourself crazy.
I hope he's okay.
