"All right, young Mango, watch how it's done." She rolled her eyes and he confidently walked up to a less exasperated looking nurse. "Hi, my name is Shawn Spencer and this is my partner Daisy Doogoodde." The nurse looked at him questioningly, then looked at Kate.

"Hey Kate…who is this?"

Kate laughed from behind him and he turned to his sister, confused. "Hey Jenny, he's my dorky brother, but he's a psychic and we wanted to ask the ED nurses about some overbearing family members. You remember any? Probably with a 20 something girl with a fractured wrist."

He looked around, they had run into the hospital so quickly he hadn't even really looked at where he was, but thinking back, he saw the SBU sign out front…this was Kate's hospital…"Uh, yeah, what she said." He could only be glad Gus wasn't there to rub this in his face.

"Um, none that I can remember, sorry. Maybe ask some of the others? It might have happened on my day off if it was a while ago." He was at a loss, there was nothing for him to piece together here, but Kate—from the glean in her eye she was seeing far more than he was.

"Thanks, Jen, see you on Monday?" She nodded and he followed his sister around while she interviewed a couple more nurses before abruptly turning to him. "They weren't here. I didn't figure they would be, but I thought we might want to start somewhere where I have rapport."

"You talked to three people, how do you know?" He was slightly frustrated with her ability to out-do him…no one ever had…

"I can see it." She said snarkily with a finger up to her temple. Then started walking out. "You can pick the next hospital…" She called, getting progressively closer to the car—still walking, but speedily. "…if you make it in the car!" She was out of the hospital now and had taken off running towards her car.

"Hey!" He yelled as he started running after her, eventually sliding in to the car as she fumbled with the ignition. "Come on, son. You wouldn't leave me." With a glint in her eye, she started the engine perfectly and began pulling out of the parking lot.

"Where to, Napps?"

It was an unknown number, but he answered his phone. "Detective Lassiter."

"Lassie! It's Kate—I'm having a vision." Oh no, so she really was pulling the whole 'psychic' shtick. "I see angry, irritated nurses—they're frustrated with one patient. No…not a patient…the family! Lassie, I think they were treating our victim!" He hated how effective the Spencers were…there were 24 hospitals in a reasonable range from the crime scene and he really didn't have time to go through them individually. "Lassie, I see…I see…stone faces? They look sad but caring at the same time…"

'Stone faces'? What was she…wait…"St. Michael's!" There were statues of St. Michael on nearly every hall of that hospital. "The victim went to St. Michaels!" He hung up the phone and quickly dialed McNab, this may just have been the break they needed in the case.

"He's the one that was all gung-ho about dinner. 'Six o clock Gus! Don't be late Gus! Well it's 6:10!" Gus was angrily setting the table with her and she couldn't help but find it entertaining.

"Kate called and said they were on their way…they'll be here soon." She set the Thai food in nicer dishes—it was the first family meal they'd had and she wanted it to be nice. "I'm more concerned as to where Hen—"

"Sorry I'm late!" Henry called as he opened the front door. "The line at the grocery store was insane." He popped in to the kitchen and displayed two pies. "I got apple and chocolate."

"Thanks Henry, you can set them on the counter." It was always interesting to see a flustered Henry, she knew he wanted dinner to go well, but honestly she wouldn't be surprised if there was some outbreak.

"Jules, we're home!" Shawn called as he swung around the corner, kissing her cheek before rushing off into their room.

"Shawn, what was that on your—"

"Blood." Kate interrupted, answering her question. "I left him alone for two seconds in the ER and he fell on a patient…" She washed her hands in the sink as she spoke. "Ooh! Pie!"

"H-hi Kate." Henry mumbled and instantly the awkwardness in the room tripled.

"Hi Henry." She was cautious, but cheery. "Did you bring the pie?"

"I didn't know what kind you preferred."

"I love both actually." She was making an effort and Juliet was impressed. "Thanks!"

Shawn reemerged from their room, still buttoning his clean shirt. "Did I hear 'pie'?"

"Not till after dinner, come on everyone, and let's eat before the food gets colder." Everyone seemed slightly off balance, unsure of what to do and she figured she'd take charge. She sat between Shawn and Kate and Henry sat between Shawn and Gus—it was tight around their small round table, but they all fit. "Dig in!" There was awkward silence as no one was eager to start the conversation, and she slipped her hand on Shawn's thigh, willing him to break the ice.

He sighed, but complied. "So Kate…tell us about this date."

She looked around the table at all the eager eyes. She'd been on dates before—not often, but that was her choice. She was a loner and breaking out of that was difficult. Still, when she'd returned to her empty house or car after the disappointing date, no one had ever cared or wanted to hear about it. Now she had a brother who was willing to put aside his differences with their father in order to get the details…and she liked it.

"I told you, there's not much to tell. He took me to lunch, we talked, there wasn't much there so I doubt I'll go out with him again." She expected disappointment on their faces, or at least on Shawn's, but he still looked eager.

"Where'd you meet him?" Shawn asked.

"What's his name?" Gus asked right after.

"Does anyone want more rice?" Juliet chimed, giving her a friendly nudge and a way out.

"I'm good, thanks Jules. I met him at the hospital, his name is Dave—Henry, did you have a question to add?" Her father looked terribly uncomfortable and unsure of whether or not he could talk. She'd lived with Shawn and Jules for a month now, and Gus was a near constant presence in her life, so they already had a dynamic and Henry…well, he seemed like he didn't want to impose. Which was sweet, but unsettling and not something she wanted to continue.

"I was going to ask what he did for a living, and why the date didn't go well." He half mumbled—she had a sense this wasn't his normal personality and she really hoped they could get more comfortable.

"Well I'm glad someone acknowledged the fact that there are no future dates." She smiled at Henry and shot dirty looks to Shawn and Gus. "He was some kind of businessman I think—and I don't really know. He just didn't seem that genuine—like he was trying too hard to impress me. Anyway, what's new with you Henry?" She was eager to get out of the spotlight, and while she had a feeling there would be more questions to come from Shawn and possibly even Jules, the conversation flowed nicely for the rest of the night. She looked around the table and smiled, quietly eating her chocolate pie—this having a family thing was really growing on her.

Dinner actually wasn't a total disaster. He and Shawn only had one argument, and it was centered around Shawn's vehement opposition to fishing.

"I actually like fishing." Kate said, instantly dissipating the argument. "Maybe we can go fishing off the pier sometime."

She was throwing him a line—it wasn't a day on his boat, but it was some time with her. "I'd like that." He said and amazingly, she smiled. Her resemblance to Bekka was still remarkable, but as he watched her start playfully bickering with Shawn over the merits of fishing, he realized just how much she was her own person. More like Shawn in some ways, but in some ways, entirely unique.

After the pie, he helped clean up and bid them all goodnight. He had a feeling Gus would hang around for a while, but he didn't want to overstay his welcome. "Thank you again." He said, more to Juliet than the others as they were having a half spoken argument.

"Thanks for coming Henry." She replied with a soft smile as she led him to the door. Juliet was an amazing woman, he still wasn't sure how Shawn had won her over, but she made him a better man. As he waved goodbye and started toward his car, he realized he was smiling. He was getting a chance, with Kate, with Shawn—even with Juliet and Gus. He'd missed out on a lot of Shawn's childhood, and all of Kate's, but maybe, just maybe, he'd be there for them in adulthood. Play with their kids, be someone to turn to—and he realized that's all he ever wanted.

I'm sooooooo sorry it's been so long! I've been short on time and as the semester comes to a close, I doubt that will improve, but I'll make a solid effort to post at least once a week from now on!

Snyders…I liked "Kate, Don't be Gus" too, one of those I wrote it, but I still laughed at it moments. :)

Shootingstars…I feel like it would be so fun to be a bro/sis psychic team-particularly with Shawn! I plan on having some fun antics with them at some point, but hopefully you liked Kate showing Shawn up a little bit!

Cupcake…I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have rhymes when supplied with 'Kate' and 'Date', but I do love cheesy reviews! Anyways, sorry this took so long but hopefully it was worth the wait!
