A/N: This chapter was by far the hardest to write. I can't wait to hear what you all think. I have some Sam and Jack fluff for you.

A miracle, this woman is a miracle and he had never been so glad to be able to just sit here and hold her hand. She looked so peaceful in her slumber, he knew that she was still in some considerable pain but she was handling it like she always did, as if it didn't exist.

Janet had voiced her concerns over Sam's lack of pain or more specifically her lack of complaint about her pain. She wasn't willing to even think about discharging her until they had a handle on it. As soon as Sam was conscious Janet had prepared a lovely lecture for her and Jack was hoping that she would wait until it was someone else's watch. Unfortunately for him he could already see the first signs of consciousness in his beautiful, miracle of a wife.

"Jaa…" Her throat still felt red raw and found it difficult to talk after waking, she quickly felt a straw being pushed between her lips and she gratefully took a few sips and tried again.

"Jack?"

He squeezed her hand and she turned towards him.

"Yeah I'm here. How you feelin'?"

"Alright, I suppose."

Sam knew that there was no point in lying to Jack about how she felt but she really just hated feeling this way and was so used to being the good little soldier, especially when Jack was around.

"Sam, there is no need to hide it from me. Or Janet for that matter" Jack knew that she was still in pain.

"Yeah, okay it hurts but it's not too bad and having our family around really does make me feel better."

Before Jack could answer Janet walked in with Grace by her side.

"Hey there, I didn't expect you to be up."

Sam just smiled at her friend.

"I took her to get some lunch and get to know her a bit. She is just the perfect combination of her parents."

Sam blushed and Jack had a huge grin on his face. Grace quickly walked over to her Dad and climbed on his lap so she could see Sam better.

"Hey Mommy."

"Hi my darling. Did you have a fun time with Aunty Janet?"

"Oh yeah she let me have some Jello after lunch and she even got me the blue kind Mom, that's your favorite."

"You are very lucky. Did you thank her?"

"Of course I did Mommy. Then I asked her vewy nicely if we could come to visit you and Daddy."

"I'm very proud of you baby."

It was Janet who spoke next.

"Jack do you mind taking Grace for a little while so that I can check Sam over."

"Of course" his reply came quickly, he was more than happy to escape a lecture from Napoleon even if it was directed at him.

"Come on munchkin."

Grace knelt on the edge of the bed to kiss Sam's cheek and then quickly jumped off and willingly left with her Father after he too bid Sam farewell.

In the end it was Sam that bought up the issue surrounding her ongoing pain, as she knew that if it was still bad Janet wouldn't release her until it was under control.

Together they put together a new regiment and Sam gave her word that she would speak up if it still wasn't working.

They also discussed her physiotherapy and went over a few basic exercises that Sam would be able to perform in bed. Overall Janet was happy with her recovery and reassured Sam that she would recover almost fully.

Sam noticed that Janet was skirting around the issue of her being medically discharged from the Airforce. Sam knew it was inevitable but both Janet and Jack wouldn't hear of it. Whenever she bought it up the subject was quickly changed. She was frustrated not knowing what her future would hold for her or her family but right now she was just enjoying being alive.

A/N: Okay I know that this chapter has been a long time coming but I will try and update more frequently now. I have officially finished my university course now and I don't start my new job until early April. I am still working but I have a bit more free time to spend as I please and I hope to spend a lot of that writing this, the prequel and watching lots of Stargate. I hope everyone had a great New Year and I can't wait to hear from you all.
