Chapter 37: Rest.
Warmth and Comfort…
-(Datark Island Barracks)-
(Third-Person View)
On the spot where Llyweilun met his end, Gerard and Ozpin were looking down at the remains of his dead body after Wyvern brutally decapitated his arms and legs. Knowing he died horribly, they couldn't help but realize that Llyweilun seemed more peaceful than giving off a pained look when he was killed. An expression like he was asleep without suffering or feeling any pain at all. Ozpin kept his distance from the dead White Fang agent while Gerard was kneeling down next to it, looking at the face he recognized after the murder in Fort Knots. Since he was so used to seeing dead bodies, not a hint of disgust displayed on his face. But rather his usual stoic and intimidating expression he always has.
"Damn…" Gerard stood up straight after analyzing Llyweilun's lifeless body.
Ozpin nodded and remained staring at the body. "Once again, another being in the White Fang has been killed by the hands of a hunter. Hard to believe one zhulong can cause this much of a mess." He looked at the horizon where a squadron of White Fang vessels used to sail. Now sunk under the ocean because of Wyvern.
"One zhulong is like an entire platoon armed to the teeth." Gerard said while looking at the horizon as well. "It's a good thing they're not against us anymore."
"What will you do now? Your job here is done after all."
"When I return back to Beacon, I'll make my way to back to Vuorovesi Bunker Complex and report Llyweilun Auttenberg has finally been confirmed killed. That's one less dog to deal with." He looked back at his dead body, "As for the poor mutt, the rest of the teams on this operation is on their way back to pick him up. Just because he's our enemy doesn't mean he can't have a proper burial."
"Unlike the Grimm?"
"Pfft. They automatically go to their reserved burial… in hell." Gerard rolled his eyes and walked back to his bullhead. "The only thing that matters to me right now is that this island is finally liberated from any White Fang fools. My thanks goes to all of your additional hunters and those kids."
"Even if you were the only hunter participating, I know you would've accomplished this task, Lt. Commander." Ozpin corrected his glasses and walked pass him.
"You flattered me about your expectations to your former student. But don't give me all the glory. Those kids should get some too." He said while walking back towards his Bullhead.
Ozpin let out a sigh and looked back as he walked back. "Yes. They do." He nodded. "What about Llyweilun's body?"
"The rest of the teams are on their way back here to pick him up. I don't want his corpse in my Bullhead to create a fatal stench and leave disgusting parasites behind." He replied.
Ozpin sighed by the words from Gerard. He just shrugged it off, understanding he's dealt with many deaths of his men because of Llyweilun.
Back near Gerard's Bullhead, Blake was still holding Wyvern, still in his zhulong infant state in her arms, as he was asleep peacefully because the amount of energy that was drained out, causing him to feel extremely weak. Using the scarf that Sorcha wore, it was used as a blanket to prevent him from catching a cold. The weather conditions at 4 o'clock in the morning was still freezing cold. Ruby and the rest of her team were still outside with Jaune and his team, still looking at Wyvern guiltily for seeing him in such a temporarily vulnerable form. Ruby began to pet Wyvern while he was asleep because of how small and cute he was in that form.
Blake looked down at Wyvern while his eyes were closed. His breathing was normal as he inhaled and exhaled some fog from the cold. She started to pet him gently as he squirmed a bit to get more deeper into the scarf wrapped around his small body. Her hand gently touched her belly, where she was stabbed by his sword, leaving a red scar to be shown. As soon as she felt her recent scar, her heart cracked even more by remembering Wyvern trying to fight Llyweilun's semblance. And also for making him use too much energy to resurrect her by using the power he was never trained to use by his mother, Charlotte.
"Aww… look at him." Ruby smiled and tickled his chin, making him have a satisfied smile on his face while asleep. "Who would say 'No' to a cute face like that?"
"Zhulongs don't seem like they're monsters. They're just gentle and intelligent creatures just like us." Blake said while smiling down at Wyvern.
"Hard to believe that small form of a zhulong will soon turn into a big and powerful kind of thing. It's almost kind of scary." Yang sighed and petted Wyvern as well.
Pyrrha made her way to the inside of the Bullhead, but stopped to look back at them. "We should all come inside and keep ourselves warm. Especially for Wyvern."
"Right." Blake nodded and went inside to take a seat.
"Well, we're not going to stay here." A voice said, revealing it to be Gerard's. "We're heading back to the academy right now."
"Huh? Wait, what about the island?" Jaune asked while looking around at the rumbled buildings.
"A team is en route to this location to secure this place with the VS-4 Submarine. Right now, our job is to get you kids back to Beacon." He stopped his tracks and looked at the young students. "All of you did a decent job on the operation, by the way."
"I aim to please." Ruby smiled and gave a thumbs up.
"You all just need to work on your hardheadedness." Gerard coldly scanned his eyes at everyone and stopped at Blake, holding the zhulong infant state of Wyvern in her arms. "As for you, it may have not been really your fault, but you owe that Prince a lot for saving your life for your future, and even your friends." He said to her.
Blake frowned and looked down at Wyvern, still asleep. "You're right. I do."
"It's amazing how friendship can be this powerful. So if you want to return the favor for him, then notify every student in Beacon about Llyweilun, and let everyone know that Wyvern was right all along. The way I heard he was being treated made me sick, which he didn't deserve for protecting the ones he saw that felt like they were part of his family." Gerard said and walked in his craft.
Ruby looked at Wyvern as her chest felt warmed up by what she just heard. She had no idea Wyvern would care about them so much, that he considers them like they were part of his family. She remembered the times where he supported all of them ever since the first week when they met.
"Guys?" Sappho peeked from the door and looked at the young students. "We're about to leave now. So get onboard if you don't want to be left behind." She chuckled.
"R-Right!" Ruby nodded and hoped in as her team did the same.
Jaune sighed and looked at Pyrrha and asked, "So, we're helping Blake and her teammates to try and fix everything back to normal in Beacon?"
Pyrrha gave a nod. "Yes. For what everyone has believed in Beacon was just a misunderstanding about Wyvern assaulting Llyweilun. For making things right for both Wyvern and us, we have to tell everyone that he doesn't deserve the suffering for the good he was trying to commit."
"Yeah. But I still wouldn't consider myself a friend to Wyvern for not being there for him. Do you guys feel that too?" Jaune asked with a frown.
"We all feel that too, Jaune. You, me, Nora, Ren, and Ruby along with her team equally." Pyrrha closed her eyes in shame and walked inside the Bullhead.
Jaune watched as Nora and Ren went inside with the same expression as Pyrrha. After finding out Wyvern almost died by the amount of energy he used struck his heart like his friends. He wasn't afraid to admit about what happened, and be one of the people to say he was responsible for this. For not hearing out or standing up for him. In frustration to himself, he gripped the handle of his sword then eased up a bit before walking inside the Bullhead that was already prepared for lift off. The rest of the hunters were in there, but with a rather blank expression on their faces while staring at Wyvern's small form.
Glynda was seated right next to Blake as she petted Wyvern with her pointy finger on his furry neck. Blake decided to let her hold Wyvern as she carefully handed him over. During it, he was gently awakened by the sudden different grip of his new carrier. Wyvern looked up and saw the woman who was responsible for watching over him in Beacon, Professor Goodwitch. He frowned and rested his head on her chest and sighed. This made Glynda… smile, which is something you rarely see from her. She petted him some more, but noticed everyone staring at her. Ozpin gave a small chuckle and corrected his glasses.
"What? I too have a motherly figure as well." She blushed as she looked back down at Wyvern.
"It's just surprising how much you've gotten close to Wyvern like he was your actual son. I bet Xavior and Charlotte would be taking pictures of this." Ruby smiled when she mentioned his parents back in Doragon.
"I-It's just a task I was given. And it's my responsibility to take it seriously when it comes to watching over a troubled zhulong." Glynda said, still showing the red dash on her face.
"Now, now. There's no need to deny it, Glynda. Just keep watching over him like you always do." Ozpin smiled.
"Right." She nodded and rubbed her thumb on his little paw.
Ozpin turned his head back to Ruby and noticed her looking troubled than usual. Usually, he needs to help a young huntress-in-training and talk about a problem she's been going through, or is thinking about.
"Ms. Rose? Is there something wrong?" He asked.
"I'm just thinking…" Ruby sighed and asked, "how are we going to fix all of this when we get back?"
"All you have to do is tell the others what were Llyweilun's intentions, and say Wyvern was trying to protect his fellow classmate." Sappho told her.
"It'll take forever for them to believe what we have to say." She shook her head.
"How about this: I will assist you on your job to fix everything and erase Wyvern's notoriety by explaining what's really going on." Ozpin suggested his idea to her.
Ruby's eyes widen by his suggestion and immediately shook her head. "N-No. It's fine, sir. All eight of us can do it ourselves."
"I highly doubt a bunch of other kids like you eight will be immediately persuaded by what you're trying to fix for Wyvern." Gerard said. "In the morning, I'll spread the word along with you all. But we're not to give too many details about Operation Getaway. Just say that we were on a short investigation in the city rather than saying we headed to one of the most notoriously brutal White Fang military prison facilities." He looked back at the eight students and still showed that same stoic expression. "Call it a favor."
Glynda sighed and nodded. "My job is to make my students, especially Wyvern to stay in a healthy environment in the academy's campus. I'll be assisting you eight as well. But if this happens again, you'll be expecting dire consequences from me or perhaps Wyvern's parents."
"Glynda?" Ozpin reminded.
She let out a sigh, knowing she shouldn't be so hard on them for all this. "Just don't abandon Wyvern's friendship like that. Understand?"
"Yes, professor." They all nodded.
"May I remind you all that you're also not to mention Wyvern turning into a fifteen meter sized creature? Luckily, the prisoners were far enough to not see that kind of form, and Datark Island was far away from civilization for innocents to set their eyes on him. Or perhaps take pictures and post it online, which will make some people to believe it to be a hoax." Isaac's AI, Kitchi said while still in his armored suit.
"We knew about keeping Wyvern's identity as a Zhulong Prince ever since from the start." Jaune said.
"Ah… I see. Good. Mr. Jaune Arc can remember things after all." Kitchi joked.
"Hey!" He then let out sigh.
"As for Ms. Scarlatina, I'll go with her and try to make up an explanation to her team about her absence. That is, if they noticed she snuck out." Alice said.
"Don't worry. My team is a bunch of heavy sleepers when it comes to the night." Velvet chuckled.
"Well, we're still going just in case they somehow woke up."
Sappho raised her hand half way in the air. "I'll assist Ruby and her friends as well. Gerard can use some help on convincing others about Wyvern being innocent. And, perhaps, I can talk to the hardheaded boys about it by using my youthful charm."
"Just like what Schnell can do." Yang mumbled.
"I can help out too." Sorcha said. "Since cousin Gerard and my sister is staying in the academy until everything is fixed, I can't leave yet because this Bullhead is my only ride."
"And I need you to examine my arm. It was a pretty rough fight back there." Gerard noted her.
"My master can help you all out as well." Kitchi said. "However, I won't be able to tag along with him because… I am to be kept secret from the other students. I may be in charge of Master Isaac's lab, but I'm also in charge of the newly installed security system for this academy."
Isaac gave a thumbs up and said, "You can count on me for talking to the students in my classes."
Ozpin cleared his throat and spoke again. "I'll be sure to notify only every staff member on campus. As for Wyvern in his most vulnerable form," he frowned upon him, still asleep. "he'll have to be watched over by us until he recovers back to his own self. He won't be attending any classes yet, have a meal away from the cafeteria, and be treated well."
Ruby raised her hand and called out, "I can take care of him for a bit."
"Now Ruby, don't you think it would be rather embarrassing for him to stay in a dorm with four girls?"
"It's not like we'll do anything bad to him. Unlike Yang." She pointed her thumb at her.
"Huh?"
"Nothing." She shrugged it off. "But, seriously. We can't just let Wyvern live on his own inside the his dorm."
"Alright. But I'll make sure Alice and Glynda will assist you four on checking up on him." Ozpin turned his head at Jaune. "Mr. Arc, are able to provide any assistance to Ruby and her team?"
"O-Of course!" Jaune nodded.
"Good. When we reach the academy, I'm going to have to call Xavior and Charlotte over about the news of their son." He said.
"Oh no…" Jaune began to shake like a leaf. "my head is going to end up in a silver plater."
"Calm down, Mr. Arc. They both have a good forgiving nature in them, and would rather have a talk, rather than kill."
"Okay, good." Weiss sighed and let out a yawn. "It's so late. I don't think I'm going to stay active even during one class."
"You all are excused if you would prefer to skip all classes for the day. After all, you all seemed worn out from the fighting." Ozpin scanned his eyes on all of them.
"Sweet!" Yang cheered.
"I was waiting for that reaction, sis." Ruby chuckled.
-(Beacon Academy)-
(Blake's POV)
As we flew our way back to the academy, I just remained silent throughout the entire flight when Professor Goodwitch gently handed Wyvern back to my arms. As he was safe on me, he looked down at my belly and touched the spot where he was forced to stab me. The strong feeling of remorse showed all over his face as he looked up at me with a frown. One of the most saddest things I have ever seen from Wyvern by far. Feeling even more saddened, I lifted him up like a teddy bear and gave a gentle smile before giving him an Eskimo kiss (nose to nose). His face glowed red, which made Ruby, Weiss, and Yang 'Aww'd'.
Wyvern looked down at my tummy and gave a worried expression following a small squeak. He was concerned about me of I was feeling any pain or if I'm going to be alright from now on. Even though he did all he can to heal and resurrect me with a huge amount of power from his mother's descent and abilities, he was still making sure even if he was tired. He looked pretty unrested, but he didn't want to sleep by the overwhelming feeling of guilt and worry. Tilting his head as a sign of saying "Are you okay?", I gave a smile.
"It's alright, Wyvern. Everything's fine all thanks to you." I told him.
He let out a small downing whine and looked at his paws, still shaking.
"Please. It's not your fault for doing this to me. Just stop looking down at yourself and get some rest until we get back. Okay?" I patted his head as he nodded while flapping his tiny wings.
Minutes have passed until we finally reached Beacon before the sunrise. Rain still poured down at the academy as the lights of the tower and city from a far slightly lit up the place. I felt the Bullhead descend downwards to the air pad, then finally that bump, knowing we touched down successfully. I looked at everyone and saw Gerard got up his seat and exited the aircraft. Velvet and Professor Goodwitch then got off the craft as we all did, one by one. As I carried Wyvern outside, I noticed Velvet and Goodwitch created a small shield above every one of us, like an umbrella. As for Gerard, he continued to walk in the rain like he didn't care about getting soaked.
"Headmaster, I'll be in the front door of your office until the sun comes out. Hide Wyvern somewhere. It's only a matter of time before the students will wake up and notice you all walking down here." Gerard said.
"Do you require a bed to rest on? Because I can-"
"No need. I'll be there when you're ready with the others." He continued to walk off.
Sappho let out a yawn and looked at Ozpin with an exhausted look. "I'll be taking a nap next to your office as well. Wake me when you get there."
"I'll be making my trip up there right now. But for now, you are allowed to take a rest in my office while I have a talk with Gerard." He told her.
"Ah… thank you, sir." Sappho stretched and looked at her sister. "Come on, Sorcha. Gerard can use some help with fixing his arm too."
"Sweet!" Sorcha walked towards her sister, but looked back at us and winked. "It was nice meeting you all. And Yang, good luck with Wyvern." She teased.
"Not happening, Sorcha." Yang rolled her eyes.
After a while, we made our way towards the campus and saw that everyone was still asleep in their dorms. No light was on in the windows. Quietly, we went inside the entrance of our dorm section and made our way up the stairs to reach the floor we lived in.
Velvet and Alice decided to part ways with us for now, and headed towards Velvet's dorm where her team was stayed, leaving only Jaune and his team, all four of us with Wyvern, and Ozpin with Glynda Goodwitch and Isaac Nao.
Before Ruby opened the door to our dorm, Ozpin said one more thing for her.
"Ruby, well done. Very well done." Ozpin complimented about her participation of rescuing me, Velvet, and Wyvern.
"Thank you, sir." Ruby smiled by his words.
Goodwitch gave a nod and put her riding crop away. "You all did an outstanding job. But keep that promise from Lt. Commander Warrington about not mentioning Datark Island."
Kitchi, in Isaac's metallic suit spoke. "The consequences for exposing something classified under the Vale Military Force's Regulations is to be sent in a detention facility. If it's Tier 1 Classification, perhaps it'll be… death."
"I-Is Datark Island Tier 1?" Jaune asked.
"Not really. But still, don't mention it." Kitchi warned.
Ruby walked in her dorm and looked back at Jaune and his team and said, "We'll handle Wyvern for now. You all have a good night." She said as Yang, Weiss, and I walked in.
"Okay. Goodnight." Jaune waved along with his team before walking in his team's dorm.
As we all were in, Ruby closed the door behind us and looked at Wyvern, who was fast asleep yet again. Rolled over in a position with his front body facing up as his small wings twitched. Ruby let out a giggle and picked up the small zhulong infant of Wyvern and placed him on my head. Still in a deep sleep, I felt him lightly bite one of my ears, which sent chills up my spine.
"Aww~~~!" Ruby expressed her endearment.
Wyvern lightly nibbling my ear in his sleep tickled, but I had to suppress my laughter to prevent him from waking up.
Yang snickered and poked his small nose, making him move it a bit. "Wyvern? You might wanna look what you're doing." She repeated the process to warn him.
Growling in irritation, Wyvern finally awoken and bit her finger, which didn't make Yang let out a shout in pain.
"Hehehe… looks like your biting can use a little bit of work." Yang chuckled, saying it didn't harm her at all.
"It seems like zhulong infant's jaws are too weak to hurt anyone." Weiss stated.
Wyvern let out a sigh in disappointment after hearing what Weiss said.
"Wyvern, you know where her hand has been, right?" Ruby joked.
"Ruby!"
In an instant, he let go of her finger and shook in disgust. Realizing he was on top of my head, he jumped and lost his balance, resulting him to fall on the floor. Without any difficulty, he carefully got up and fluttered his wings to begin hovering. He rubbed his chin with his paw, showing us where it hurts.
"Here. I'll help you out." Yang picked him up and gently placed him on the nightstand. She then began to rub his tummy with her one finger as Wyvern squirmed in reaction of this.
"Yang, be more careful. Wyvern isn't just a small toy right now, you know." Weiss told her.
Wyvern let out a quick zap of a tiny electric bolt out of his mouth, which made Yang's hand retreat from the sudden shock. He pouted at looked away.
"Looks like someone is feeling a little grumpy." Yang tickled his chin.
Weiss let out a chuckle and kneeled down, looking directly in his eyes. "Is there anything you need right now? Food? Water?"
Wyvern shook his head.
"Well, okay. I gotta get dressed in my sleepwear. I'll be in the closet." Weiss undid her hair loose and went inside the dressing closet.
"I get dressed too. We don't have to go to class after all." Yang yawned and stretched.
"Coming, Blake?" Ruby asked while turning towards the closet.
"I will. I'll just keep an eye on Wyvern while your three are getting changed." I said.
"Alright. Be back in a jiffy." Ruby headed inside the closet.
"Hey, Wyvern. You wanna take a peek?" Yang teased.
He immediately shook his head, giving an annoyed look back at her for asking something like that.
"Relax. I was just kidding. The least you can do is say No."
Wyvern raised his finger and pointed at his wide opened mouth, letting out a squeak and shook his head.
"Oh, right. You can't talk." Yang chuckled to herself and followed Ruby.
After waiting for a while for the three to finish, they finally came out in their pajamas. Ruby sat down on Yang's bed, watching Wyvern as he stretched his body. When Weiss said it was my time to change, I got off the chair and walked inside the closet with a dressing wall covering it. I picked up my freshly laundered pajamas and set it down on the small cabinet before removing my vest, then my undershirt and my stockings.
Now only in my bra and panty, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that horrifying scar on my epigastric region. I touched its pink rubbery surface and began to remember Wyvern being forced to stab me with that distressed expression. Chills were sent up my spine as I looked closer at the mirror, having a short hallucination of the scar still having Wyvern's sword in it. I sighed and went back to getting dressed in my pajamas. Before leaving, I picked up one of my spare scarves and walked out.
When I finished, I went outside the closet and saw Ruby, Weiss, and Yang watching over Wyvern. I was expecting the three of them to be asleep right now.
"You all are still awake? Shouldn't we be asleep in our beds right now?" I looked at them.
"Professor Ozpin noted that Xavior and Charlotte will be called over because of what happened to Wyvern. I'm just expecting a visit from them, which will most likely happen because he IS their son, after all." Ruby told me.
Wyvern let out a small purr and gave a nervous look while staring outside our window.
"You're nervous about what your parents will see what happened to you. Right?" Weiss asked him.
He replied with a nod after he turned his head back at us.
"It's alright. When you get back to normal soon, I'll be sure to make all of our time in the Faucon Celebration to be a blast." Yang patted his head.
"Just get some rest, Wyvern. You deserved it." Ruby said.
"Wyvern?" I called him as he gave his full attention to me. "You can use this." I took out my spare black scarf that I've brought with me from the closet earlier.
"Your scarf? Er… don't you think that's too big for him?" Yang compared my scarf size and Wyvern's zhulong infant form.
"He's not going to wear the scarf. I'll make him use it like a blanket so he can have a warm and comfortable sleep." I said and began to fix my scarf to make it similar to a pet bed. After finishing it, I carefully picked up Wyvern and placed him in the center of my scarf. He squirmed around a bit to stay in a comfortable position until he felt it just right. "You like it?"
Wyvern gave a smile and nodded as he wings flapped happily as a sign of saying 'Thank You.'
"Your welcome." I smiled and poked his tiny nose.
Suddenly, a knock was heard on our door. Ruby got up and headed towards it, and slowly creaked it open. I tilted my body over to see who it was, showing a man and a woman with different colored tattoos on their foreheads. By their faces, I immediately recognized them as Wyvern's parents.
"X-Xavior… Ch-Charlotte?" Ruby stuttered nervously.
"Salutations, Ms. Rose. May we come in, please?" Xavior asked with a rather relaxed tone.
"O-Of course! Come in!"
As Ruby opened the door even more, Wyvern's parents walked inside and noticed all three of us crowed around the nightstand. I gave a welcoming smile, even though I grew nervous about how will they react when they'll see Wyvern.
"Hello." I greeted.
"What's up?" Yang did the same.
"You two got here pretty quickly." Weiss said.
"What can I say? I would get anywhere as fast as I can when my baby is in trouble." Charlotte said, referring to her son, Wyvern.
"Plus we were in Toreiru City, southeast of Doragon and closer to Vale." Xavior added.
"That too."
"Where is Wyvern right now?" Xavior asked.
"He's right here." I said while walking back towards them with Wyvern in my arms. I showed them his current small form, and frowned. "I-I…"
"My goodness…" Charlotte covered her mouth in shock.
"Great Ranmaru, how did this happen?" Xavior asked, not showing any aggression or anything.
Ruby shut the door and walked back next to us to begin explaining about what has happened from what happened on Friday, to right now. Weiss and Yang added more details to the story as I did the same too. I was so scared about what they'll think of me, but telling the truth is always the best way. How much I was angered back then, what happened during the incident in the amphitheater, how we were captured, and even what happened in Datark Island. Since they're one of the people who are allowed to know about the operation. Gerard said not mention it to the other students, but Wyvern's parents seemed excusable. I reminded them not to mention it as well.
"My poor baby…" Charlotte gently picked up Wyvern and hugged him. "Why didn't you tell Professor Goodwitch or us about this?"
"Emperor Xavior, Empress Charlotte," I called them by their title and bowed my head. "I'm so sorry about all this. We all are. Including Jaune and his team. If there is anything I can do to repay the damage I've done to your son, I would be glad to fix it."
Ruby stepped up too. "So do I. I'm in charge of my team, so I have to be held responsible for everything."
Waiting for a response, I heard Xavior say, "Please. There is no need."
"Huh?"
"We appreciate and accept your apology, but there is no need to pay us back with anything." Charlotte said.
"B-But-"
"Listen," Xavior placed his hand on my shoulder. "we all can make mistakes and perhaps be afraid of them, but you actually didn't mean to be so rough on him, weren't you?"
"Y-Yes. I couldn't control myself after he-"
"After he tried to unmask Llyweilun. I know. But for all of you, we'll accept your apology. But not your chances for repaying my family." Xavior smiled.
My mouth formed a smile by their forgiving nature as I looked at Wyvern, giving all of us a smile and a quick wink. All of us nodded our heads and smiled back.
"There's just one question I've been wondering," Weiss asked, "how did Wyvern resurrect Blake? Is it part of a zhulong's semblance? Or something else?"
"An Immoral Dragon like me has the ability to take souls or resurrect a living being of we have a soul in store. But it requires a lot of energy to contribute to the corpse for the ability to make it live again. What Wyvern doesn't know is this: It only has a 25% chance of success. As for the 75% of the rest, if he fails, it'll result death because of the large amount of energy being used. It'll make his body fall apart and turn into dust, leaving the corpse to stay lifeless." Charlotte said, giving us an anxious look. "My son was lucky to successfully get you back on your feet. He knew about this ability, but I never wanted him to use it because he can die from it."
"I…" Ruby couldn't finish her sentence, and looked down only to stay silent for a few seconds. "… I can't believe he almost risked his life just to save Blake."
"What else did Wyvern do besides saving your friend's life?" Xavior asked.
"He…" Yang nervously circled her ankle. "… he turned himself into…"
"My son assumed his ultimate form?"
"Y-Yeah. He turned himself into… a zhulong." Ruby admitted. "It was one of the most unbelievable things I have ever seen."
"It must've been because… he was in control of this White Fang agent who had a semblance of controlling bodies. Wyvern was used as a tool to stab and kill me, only leaving me with this mark." I showed them my red scar where his sword hit me.
Xavior and Charlotte sighed and looked down at Wyvern, giving a shameful look on his face. His mother just frowned and petted her son as he shook in fear, remembering how much he loss control.
"Son," Xavior kneeled down at Wyvern and frowned. "you need to be more careful about turning into a zhulong dragon. We may have that gift, but you can't use it when your emotions are in control of you."
Weiss raised an eyebrow and sat down. "Wyvern turned into that… thing because of anger?"
"What you should know about Wyvern is he's very unstable because of how much he's been through by the loss of his old friends. Like when you mentioned he was a bit out of control in the arena, that was one of the early stages of turning into a zhulong form. I'm sure you all know what it's like to lose someone. But he's lost more than enough." Xavior said.
"As do I." Weiss said.
"Weiss?" Ruby looked at her.
"Just like my father, he's lost a lot of good friends because of the White Fang targeting the ones who knew him more personally to threaten him and my entire family. I, for one, have lost many of my friends as well because of them. A long time ago, Wyvern and I had a talk about this, and made a promise to try and keep each other and our friends safe. If anyone tries to harm my teammates, they'll end up dead in the ground before they even have a chance." Weiss clenched her fists.
"I appreciate your protectiveness for your friends, Ms. Schnee. But sometimes it's too late to save a soul." Charlotte told her while holding Wyvern in her arms.
"I'm sure we would've known that too if Ostanes wasn't there to save Wyvern when he was still sealed." Xavior mentioned the time before Wyvern was born.
"Do you girls ever wonder why we made Wyvern happen?"
Charlotte asking that question made all four of us blush, thinking about what she just asked. Wyvern even stared at her with a shocked expression.
"Dear?" Xavior looked back at her.
"Oh my… let me rephrase that. Do you all know why we wanted to raise our own?" She asked again, this time appropriately.
"Why?" Ruby asked.
"To start over." Xavior answered.
"Correct." Charlotte nodded. "Back then, me and my love weren't the two kinds where it starts with love at first sight. We actually deeply hated each other long before the order was created. Often, when we see each other, we fight for dominance of territory and even try to kill each other. But soon after we realized our feelings for each other, we bonded together and later started the early stages of creating the order. But after it was successful, the memories of our hatred towards each other back then still haunted us. Thinking about me and my husband's future, I had the desire to have a baby in order to start from a new beginning as an entire family." She kissed zhulong infant Wyvern's head and smiled. "Isn't that right, my little boy?" Charlotte giggled and delivered many small kisses at her son's small chest, making Wyvern let out some sort of suppressed laugh by how ticklish it was, but was pretty embarrassed because we were watching.
"So Wyvern was the way to make you forget about all of those terrible memories?" I asked, giving a light smile.
"Yes. And I have to admit, it really helped me and my love. And I'm proud to finally have my own son." Xavior smiled at Wyvern. "Charlotte always wanted a family too."
"Aww~!" Ruby covered her smile.
Charlotte kissed her son's forehead as she began to rock him in her arms like Wyvern was an actual infant. By the look in his tired eyes, he seemed pretty embarrassed by us staring at him as his mother was holding onto him. But soon after a short time, his eyes began to close by how comfortable he was, and how safe he felt in her arms.
As Wyvern drifted into a peaceful slumber, he curled himself like he was a ball with wings and cutely snored, which made all of us including Charlotte smile by how cute it was.
The lyrics she sang…
Go forward and step
Where hope has been kept
One touch will make our journey end
The sun rises up
Till twilight rise its stars
Till moonlight shines my skin
The scars of pain heal by this Unrelenting Light
That was the song that Wyvern played two months ago in the amphitheater. "Unrelenting Light", a song about not giving up hope and get healed by the new day's light. This song was mostly played for anybody that believed in peace, and for warriors returning from the battlefield of a war. In my personal opinion, this is the greatest and one of the most dearest songs to be put in a special place of my heart.
"Anyway, we're to go have a talk with your Headmaster. After that, we'll be immediately off to our capital. So this means we're going to have to say farewell to you girls, for now." Xavior bowed.
"You can't take Wyvern with you?" Weiss asked.
"We'll be working in Diayamondo City with our governors from each section of The Drahen Empire in Doragon. So, we'll be having our hands full." He told them.
"Politics. Very, very tiresome." Charlotte commented.
"I trust you can take care of my son until he turns back to his normal state?" Xavior asked with his eyebrow raised.
"We can. You can count on me and my team." Ruby nodded.
"Well alright." Xavior looked at Wyvern's sleeping figure and petted him. "Get back to normal and well soon, son. Your father loves you." He said after kissing his head.
Charlotte gently lifted him up to the same level as her head and smiled. "We'll see you again soon, Wyvern. Keep your grades up. Your mommy loves you. Mmwah~!" She placed a kiss on his nose and handed him back to Ruby.
"We'll see you all soon. Thank you, and good luck." Xavior waved his hand while he opened the door.
"Indeed. Fare thee well." Charlotte waved with her voice kept down, knowing there are students still asleep in their dorms.
"Bye." Ruby said as we all waved our goodbyes. As they closed the door quietly, Ruby locked it, went back towards us and placed Wyvern in the scarf I made a bed out of. "Let's get some shut eye, girls. Team RWBY has done a very good job."
"Mm hmm." Weiss nodded.
"You bet." Yang gave a thumbs up.
"We sure did." I smiled.
After, we all got on our own beds and tucked in for a good night sleep. My body was sore, but now was the time to relax after what we've all been through in Datark Island. Ruby looked around and turned off a flashlight on her bed.
"Goodnight, girls." She said.
"Goodnight." We replied back.
"And goodnight to Wyvern too." Ruby added as Weiss and Yang added him.
"Yeah. Goodnight, Wyvern." I lied down on my bed and shut my eyes gently… with a peaceful dream waiting for me.
Sweet dreams.
