Classmates
Nagumo Haruya [Burn]
Basically, you were a silent girl.
And in your current class, there was a person who was obnoxiously loud and arrogant. One day, you wanted to go in front of him and snap, 'You're so annoying!'
But as a girl who was raised to be a lady, that was a rather impolite move to do.
Even if that stupid idiot deserved it so much.
"[f/n]-sama!" your chauffeur called.
You merely looked back and asked, "Yes?"
"Are you sure you're going to be alright if I leave you alone?"
You nodded.
It wasn't like you hated your servants... rather, you didn't like how they serve you. It was kind of suffocating and everyone was just in front of you.
You actually thought that you'd get more freedom if your parents were abroad.
"[f/n]-sama..."
And then you walked to the train station. Occasionally, you would ride public transportation, but only with your parents holding your hand and such.
You paid for your ticket and head on through the ticket gate.
It was a pretty normal day, and you knew that everything you did was correct...
But,
THUD!
"Shit! Who the fuck-?"
Thankfully, you managed to keep in some expressions in your head that you would love to tell... unlike the man in front of you who started swearing.
"I'm so sorry, sir. Are you alright?" you asked him.
The person in front of you stared at you wide-eyed. He stated, "Oi. Aren't you [l/n]?"
It was that stupid idiot you were complaining about at top of the page: Nagumo Haruya.
"Yes, I am," you replied politely.
"Hn. Do you remember me somehow? I'm-!" Nagumo was cut off (by all means necessary as he looked like he was talking to a five-year-old).
"Yes, you're Nagumo Haruya. I go to school and, unlike you, I actually listen to the teacher."
Nagumo had a stupid grin on his face. He replied, "Okay, sorry for underestimating you, then. You're going to school, right? Let's go!"
And he grabbed your wrist.
Immediately, you thought about how you had convinced yourself that no man would have made you blushed, regardless of the fame or, you know, hotness they emit.
Right now, Nagumo managed to do just that: he made you blush.
After a few weeks, you rarely come across with Nagumo.
You were grateful. Because, technically, you couldn't even face him as he may cause you to blush again... and that's not really great for your self-esteem.
"[l/n]-san, could you do me a favor?" a girl from your class asked.
You didn't want to let them down, so you said yes.
"Please give this to Nagumo-kun, he's the captain of the soccer club and I have things to do after this so..."
"Sure!"
Well, it could have been worse. Like, cleaning the classroom when it's not your turn or going to the Student Council (and, mind you, they were scary as shit).
After reaching the soccer club room, Nagumo had already passed by you.
"O-oi, Nagumo-san!" you called out.
He immediately stopped and turned to you. He asked, "Yeah?"
"Someone's giving this to you," you explained, also, seeing how that you forgot the girl's name, you manage to sound even stupider than before.
Well, for you, that is. Nagumo had no problem understanding your sentence.
"Okay, then. Thanks, [l/n]!"
And he rushed off.
Was it so bad to feel that you were not getting enough attention from Nagumo?
Another few weeks after, you didn't give a second glance at Nagumo.
"[l/n]-san! How's your mock exams?" another girl asked you.
"I think I did horrible. Well, it's just the mock exams after all... how did you think you did?" you answered back.
"Well, I think I did great! You know at question number nine, it was a trick question! You'd think it was-!" the girl who was currently chatting got cut off.
"Hey, Yumagi-chan," a deep voice had interrupted the conversation.
"A-ah! Nagumo-kun, how are you?" Yumagi stuttered, her face red as a tomato.
"Fine, how was your mock exams?" Nagumo asked her.
"I-I think I did terrible... you know, I never reviewed for it." Yumagi conversed.
"I'll go now, Yumagi-san," you told her, remembering her name thanks to Nagumo.
"O-okay." Yumagi agreed.
You walked down the hallway to the cafeteria. You ought to buy some bread, a vegetarian one... you mused to yourself about how the head maid scolding you for getting fatter by the minute.
You bought the bread and walked to the vending machine to get a soda.
"Hey, [l/n]-san," a voice piped behind you.
You grabbed the soda and glanced at the person who talked.
"Hello, Nagumo-san. I hope you have a great lunch today," you greeted and walked off.
"Don't be that way, [l/n]-san. How did you do in the mock exams?" Nagumo asked.
You pursed your lips and lied smoothly, "I definitely did great."
"Really?" Nagumo pressed and grinned.
"Yes."
"Okay, then. If the results of your mock exams are higher than mine, then I'll do a request from you. But, if it's the opposite, you get to do a request from me."
"I don't accept your... gamble," you mocked.
"Come on, [l/n]-san!"
"Nope."
"So, you admit that you lied and you didn't do great?" Nagumo teased.
"Yes."
That left Nagumo shocked.
And you were damn happy about it.
The next day, the results of your mock exams came in.
And, boy, were they all low.
"Okay, the highest scorer for this exam is..." the teacher babbled.
You tune out the teacher's voice and stared at your papers.
"Hey, [l/n]-san, how'd you do?" Nagumo drawled as he turned from his seat to face you.
It didn't help that earlier this morning that you had your seating arrangement fixed and now Nagumo was your seatmate. Your other seatmate seemed less inviting with the lip piercing she had, so you had no choice but to ask Nagumo questions after the lessons.
"I did fine, thank you for asking," you muttered sarcastically.
Your other seatmate chuckled and Nagumo just raised his eyebrows. Nagumo asked, "What?"
"Nothing. I did terrible."
"Well, that's so close. You should have accepted the 'gamble' I gave."
"Why is that?" you asked innocently, "Is it because yours is pretty much higher than mine?"
Nagumo only smirked as he gave you his papers.
It was all full of zeros.
"Did you even read the questions?" you asked.
"Huh, not really. I kinda was sleeping when I answered that."
"That's stupid."
"But you're regretting not accepting the deal, right?"
You sighed and gave him back his own papers, but you replied to him though.
The teacher spoke without further ado, "Congratulations to Yumagi-san, she scored the highest in all of the mock exams in this class."
Nagumo had this silly grin on his face throughout the whole class.
Just because you replied 'yes'.
Weeks after, when it was summer break, you laid at your bed.
Thinking there's nothing else better to do, you opened your Facebook on your laptop.
There were a lot of notifications, but there was a message you haven't read.
You clicked it.
'Do you wanna meet up today? Meet me at the park later at 5 pm.'
"Nagumo-san," you breathed out and immediately closed your laptop, not replying to Nagumo's message.
Yet you went to the bathroom to change clothes.
You met Nagumo, alright, at the park. He looked rather excited to see you, and you can't really deny that you were also excited to see him.
"So, what are we going to do for today?" you asked him.
Nagumo broke into a grin and pulled you to somewhere.
"Hey!"
"Come on, there's like a big event today..."
When the two of you stopped, it was in front of a public concert.
"What's this?" you asked.
"A band," Nagumo supplied, "that is going going to play today. I wanted you to see it, they're kind of like my favorite band."
Your cheeks flushed as the concert started.
It was weird being with Nagumo in this concert, considering you actually dislike him before and you thought he was too obnoxious for his own good. And he thought of you? That was too affectionate for him, the Nagumo he displayed in class was like a delinquent.
But you managed to like him, anyway. Especially after he became your seatmate, and you were kind of dreading not getting to be his seatmate anymore, after the summer break.
I'd think the music got into you because you had started to blush deep red. The music, alas, was a love song and, although it was pretty good, actually, you focused on your thoughts (which are- you guessed it- all about love).
Actually, it's pretty much rather all about Nagumo.
When the song finished, Nagumo grabbed your wrist and asked you, "Are you hungry?"
You nodded, still speechless.
The two of you stopped by a nearby diner and ordered your meal. When they served the food and the two of you already managed to find a seat, Nagumo perked up and asked, "Did you like the band?"
"Yes, the song is catchy and they do have good voices."
"Really? All the girls I brought there, they seem to freak out and say that the lead singer was 'hot' and that they would squeal after." Nagumo commented.
Your heart dropped after hearing that you weren't the first person who Nagumo lead there. You replied, "Is that so?"
"You're the only one who said that thus far. I kind of regret that I never asked you earlier." Nagumo admitted.
Opposite to the feeling you had earlier, your heart pumped louder than before.
"Really?" you mused.
"Yep."
It wasn't long after that the both of you shared topics and stories until it was time to bid goodbye.
"Are you sure you don't want me to walk you to your house?" Nagumo asked.
"Nope. It's fine," you said.
The both of you walked the same path, though. But, sometime after, the both of you would have separated ways, and you weren't ready for that to happen.
But, you know, it did happen... much more faster than you expected.
"Well, this is farewell, then. See you at school, Nagumo," you told him.
Nagumo grinned and gave you a short peck on your lips. He said, "Yeah, see you at school, [l/n]."
Thank God you two were classmates.
I'm back!
How's it going folks? :D
I kind of thought that I already did Gazel, but I never wrote about Burn! So there you go! :3
See you, and please review for the next victim!
