Chapter 37: Wizardmon's Gift
After losing Kari to Phantomon, Matt, Shiro, Rei, and Sora went inside the warehouse while their Digimon watched from outside.
Matt growled out in anger as he slammed his fists on the side of the warehouse.
"It's not your fault." Sora says.
"Yes, it is. I blew it. Tai asked me to protect her and I couldn't! I let everyone down." Matt said as he continued to hit the wall.
"Matt." Shiro says walking up to his brother.
Matt looks at him only to get punched in the face and fall to the ground.
Both Rei and Sora were shocked at what they just saw and thought Shiro had lost it until he started speaking.
"What's wrong with you? You're not acting like the brother I know! What if that was T.K. that was taken? Would you be sitting here wasting time?" Shiro asks in anger.
Matt's eyes then widen in shock.
"That's right Matt you're the Child of Friendship, now start acting like it and keep the promise you made to your friend." The Child of Destiny says.
"They're right. Matt, it seems to me there are two things you can do about this. Number 1; you can stand there and beat yourself up about the whole thing. Or number 2; we can find a way to rescue Kari. What's it going to be?" The Child of Love asks.
"You three are right. Let's get her." Matt said as he turned around to face them. "And Shiro, thanks. I needed that." He says.
"No problem." The Child of Bravery says.
Matt then mounted Garurumon, Shiro climbed on Wingdramon, Rei hops onto Crescemon, and Sora was picked up by Garudamon.
Meanwhile Tai and Agumon continue to make their way towards the convention center.
"Hurry Agumon. The convention center's up ahead. That's where my parents are being held prisoner. And keep an eye out for Myotismon." Tai says.
Just then DemiDevimon flies overhead towards the convention center.
"Huh? What's that?" Tai asks.
Inside the convention center Gatomon was still going through the children the Bakemon had captured.
"Well Gatomon is this the 9th child?" Myotismon asks but Gatomon shakes her head no.
"Myotismon." DemiDevimon says flying up to him.
"What is it?" Myotismon asks.
"You're going to love this boss. I've found the 9th DigiDestined." DemiDevimon says shocking both Myotismon and Gatomon.
"You did?" Myotismon asks.
"What? How did he do it?" Mimi asks.
'Oh no not Kari.' Gatomon says in her head.
"You hear that? It's over." Myotismon says as Gatomon growls at him. "Well, I have no use for these little brats anymore." He says.
"Right. What should I do with them, O evil one?" DemiDevimon asks.
"Make them go to sleep. I'll find a way to deal with them later." Myotismon says.
DemiDevimon then created a mist that put all the kids, including Mimi, to sleep.
Myotismon then grabs Gatomon and follows DemiDevimon to the location of the 9th child but doesn't see Tai and Agumon down below.
"Myotismon." Tai says.
"Where could he be going?" Agumon asks.
Back inside Mimi was asleep on the floor with the other kids until her Crest of Sincerity glows causing her to wake up.
Tai and Agumon run through the halls but are cut off by a bunch of Bakemon.
"Agumon digivolve to…Greymon!"
Greymon then stands in front of Tai ready to fight the Bakemon.
"Nova Blast!" Greymon fires his attack at them causing them to burst into data.
"They did stand a ghost of a chance." Tai says.
"Tai you made it inside." Mimi says running over to him.
"Mimi, where are the others?" Tai asks.
"They're all fast asleep. Myotismon put them under some kind of spell since he found the 9th child." Mimi says.
"Uh no, then that means he's got Kari." Tai says.
"Huh? Kari?" Mimi asks. "Let's go." Tai says.
Meanwhile at the TV station Izzy, Tentomon, and Hiroaki were in an office room.
"Hey look there's Matt, Shiro, Sora, and someone else." Izzy says looking out the window.
"What? Matt and Toshiro? What are they doing here?" Hiroaki asks.
Just then he sees Garurumon, Wingdramon, Garudamon, and Crescemon coming towards the TV station.
"Ah, monsters!" Hiroaki yells.
"Actually sir the technical name is Digimon. You see they're not like the pretend monsters you've seen in those old movies destroying a bunch of Japanese cities. Hey, well maybe that's a bad example but anyway the Digimon Matt and Shiro are riding are definitely on our side." Izzy says.
"What do you mean our side?" Hiroaki asks.
"Well you see there are good Digimon and bad Digimon. The good Digimon are our friends. Just like Tentomon here." Izzy says.
"I'm more then good, I'm exceptional." Tentomon says.
"I wouldn't dare doubt you." Hiroaki says.
Meanwhile Joe and T.K. were still making their way towards the others through the fog.
"But Joe why does Wizardmon have a tag and a crest?" T.K. asks.
"He said it belongs to the 9th DigiDestined, do you think it could be true?" Joe asks.
Just then they hear Wizardmon coming around.
"Are you awake?" T.K. asks.
"Who are you?" Wizardmon asks seeing Joe and T.K. in front of him.
"I'm T.K., nice to meet you." T.K. says.
"Kari!" Wizardmon says.
"Huh?" Joe and T.K. ask.
"Where's Kari?" Wizardmon asks.
"Kari?" T.K. asks.
"Who's Kari?" Joe asks.
"You've gotta give this crest to Kari." Wizardmon says holding out the Crest of Light.
"You mean you want us to give that to Tai's little sister, Kari?" Joe asks.
"Huh?" T.K. and Patamon ask.
"But if we have to deliver the crest to Tai's sister Kari, then that must mean, she's the 9th DigiDestined child we've been looking for all along!" Joe yells.
"Gee, I'm always the last one to find out." T.K. says.
"We have no time to waste. Kari and Gatomon need this crest." Wizardmon says.
"Gatomon?" Joe asks.
"But she's one of the bad Digimon who works for Myotismon." T.K. says.
"Are you saying Gatomon is one of the good guys?" Joe asks.
"Exactly." Wizardmon says causing Joe and T.K. to look at each other.
Outside the TV station.
"Matt! Shiro! Sora! Hey, you guys. Hey!" The Child of Knowledge says.
"Izzy, what are you here?" Sora asks.
"Hey Dad." Shiro says hopping off of Wingdramon.
"Toshiro? How did you get here?" Hiroaki asks his adoptive son.
"I flew over here on my Digimon his name's Wingdramon." Shiro says hugging his dad and then sees Izzy. "Izzy good to see you're alright." He says fist bumping his best friend.
"You too, by the way who is she?" Izzy asks his best friend.
"This is Rei Saiba, she's the 10th DigiDestined." Shiro says but then sees Matt walk up to their dad.
"I told you to stay out of sight!" Hiroaki says angered.
"I'm sorry, Dad." Matt says looking down as Garurumon came over, making Hiroaki yell in shock.
"Hello, Matt's dad. Good to see you again." Garurumon growled.
"What do you mean again? Who are you? Have we met?" Hiroaki asks.
"You know me. I digivolved from Gabumon." Garurumon smiled.
"Gabumon? That's you?" Hiroaki asks.
"Hey!" Someone called making them look over to see that the duos of Reliability and Hope had arrived with Wizardmon.
"Joe! T.K.!" Sora called.
"Hey, Matt! Shiro! Daddy!" The Child of Hope called.
"T.K." Matt smiled.
"Alright you guys made it." Shiro says.
"T.K.?" Hiroaki asks softly as T.K. hugged Hiroaki around the waist and started crying.
"Dad!" T.K. cries.
"What are you doing here?" Hiroaki asks.
"When Shiro and I saw all that stuff on television, we just couldn't stay home anymore. Mom wanted to come too, but we couldn't bring her." T.K. says.
"That's right. We understand if you're mad at us for coming here." Shiro says with his head down.
"It's okay boys." Hiroaki says pulling his two sons into a hug.
"We missed you, daddy." T.K. says.
The rest of the DigiDestined watch the spell caster walked over to Lillymon.
"It's Wizardmon." Izzy says.
"What're you doing here?" Matt asks.
"Hmm. She was attacked by Myotismon, wasn't she?" Wizardmon asks as he looked at Lillymon.
"So what if she was?" Sora asks defensively.
Wizardmon started moving his hands in different motions, then held them palm facing forward at the fairy, this soft green light covering her and returned her coloring back to normal as she woke up.
"Oh. Lillymon." Sora gasped.
"What's this? Wizardmon?" Lillymon asked as she flew up onto her feet, ready to fight, but T.K. ran in front of Wizardmon holding his arms out protectively.
"Stop, don't attack him! Wizardmon's a good Digimon. He's got the tag and crest." T.K. says.
"T.K., he could be lying." Rei says.
"No, Rei, it's all true. Just look." Joe says as Wizardmon held out the tag and Crest of Light, everyone staring at it in shock.
"So this is the real Crest of Light?" The Child of Bravery asks with Rei by his side.
"Yes. This tag and crest belong to Kari. We've got to help Gatomon. She was captured by Myotismon." Wizardmon says.
"Gatomon?" Rei asks.
"Yeah, Wizardmon said Gatomon belongs with Kari." T.K. says.
"What?" Everyone asks.
"Now, where is Kari?" Wizardmon asks making Matt frown and clench his fists.
"Well?" He asks.
"He's got her." The Child of Friendship says.
"Gennai sent me an e-mail a little while ago. If I recall correctly, he said the TV station is the center of Myotismon's fog barrier." Izzy says.
The sound of bats came in and then a swarm of bats was shown up in the sky being led by DemiDevimon with Myotismon carrying Gatomon in his hands with a smug look.
"Look!" Izzy says.
"It's Myotismon." Matt says.
"He's got Gatomon…but not for long." Wizardmon says.
"Come on; let's head for the viewing platform." Matt says.
"Right, I'll show you the way." Hiroaki says, but before they could move, Snimon and Tuskmon returned.
Snimon tries to attack Sora with his sickle like blade but she manages to dodge it.
Matt was then surrounded by blue aura as his Digivice turns solid blue and shoots a beam through his tag causing the Crest of Friendship symbol to come out.
"Garurumon digivolve to…WereGarurumon!" WereGarurumon then attacks both green freaks.
"Leave this battle to us." Garudamon says.
"We can handle these Digi-clowns." Zudomon says.
Just then Groundramon appears and looks ready for another battle.
"So there you are, Groundramon. Shiro I'll take care of him but if you need me." Wingdramon says.
"The same goes for you, Rei. I'm going to help Wingdramon." Crescemon says.
"Right." Both Shiro and Rei say together.
"We'll get Kari. Come on, everyone. Let's go." Matt says as we all ran inside leaving five of the Ultimate outside to deal with Groundramon, Snimon, and Tuskmon.
Wizardmon groaned as he fell to his knees, making some of the DigiDestined stop.
"Hey, Wizardmon, are you all right?" T.K. asks.
"Hey, let me give you a hand, here." Hiroaki says helping him up.
Meanwhile in the viewing platform of the TV station a bunch of bats form a black portal that Myotismon, Gatomon, and DemiDevimon come through.
"I've got you my pretty and your little cat too." Myotismon says still holding Gatomon in his hand.
Outside Greymon, Tai, and Mimi had just arrived at the TV station to see the five Ultimate Digimon fighting against Myotismon's goons.
"What's that?" Mimi asks.
"Greymon hurry. They need your help." Tai says. "You got it." Greymon says.
Back inside the TV station in the viewing platform.
"Little girl, why have you chosen to show yourself to me? do you have any idea what's about to happen to you?" Myotismon asks.
"I've got a guess." Kari says.
"Then why?" Myotismon asks again.
"Because you were hurting all those people." Kari says.
"Huh?" Myotismon and Gatomon ask.
"Someone had to stop from hurting innocent people." Kari says.
"My what a thoughtful little girl you are. Gatomon why won't you look at the 9th child's face?" Myotismon asks.
"Because she's not the 9th child. Who is she? I've never seen her before in my life." Gatomon says trying to protect Kari.
"Huh?" Kari asks unsure what her Digimon was up to.
"Is that right?" Myotismon says and snaps his fingers.
A second later Gatomon hears Kari cry out in pain.
"Kari!" Gatomon yells but sees DemiDevimon pulling her hair.
"Oww! My hair! Oww!" Kari cries.
"Kari? Interesting that you know her name since you've never met her before." Myotismon says.
Meanwhile the rest of the DigiDestined, minus Tai and Mimi, were still making their way to the viewing plate form.
"Hurry, it's up here." Hiroaki says as they stood in front of a staircase.
"Got it, Dad. Wait here." Matt says as we ran up the stairs.
"Thanks for the help." Wizardmon says.
"Are you sure you're all right?" Hiroaki asks.
"Yeah, Digimon heal fast." Wizardmon says running after the rest.
Myotismon then releases Gatomon and she runs over to Kari.
"Kari." Gatomon says standing protectively in front of her.
"Together again, too bad it'll be short lived. Grizzly Wing!" Myotismon was about to attack.
"Tentomon digivolve to…Kabuterimon!"
This causes Myotismon to halt his attack and look over to see the other seven DigiDestined along with Lillymon and Wizardmon.
"Electro Shocker! Flower Cannon!" Kabuterimon and Lillymon send their attacks but Myotismon just blew the attacks upward into the ceiling.
"It's getting a little noisy in here. Let's find someplace quieter." Myotismon says as he levitated himself and the duo of Light up to the roof as Phantomon and DemiDevimon followed.
"Not so fast. WereGarurumon!" Matt yells out the shattered windows.
WereGarurumon climbed up the side of the building to get to the roof then jumped in front of the vampire, making him give that closed mouthed laugh.
"I am really getting sick of that laugh." Sora says.
"Looks like it's time to finish this, Crescemon." Wingdramon says.
"Right. Lunatic Dance!" Crescemon then does a graceful dance causing Groundramon to stop moving.
"I can't move." Groundramon says.
"I know. Now take this. Dark Archery!" Crescemon fire dark energy arrows at Groundramon.
"Blazing Sonic Breath!" Wingdramon fires his attack at his nemesis.
The two attacks combine sending Groundramon back to the Digital World.
"Let's get moving." Wingdramon says as he picks up Crescemon while Garudamon carries Zudomon.
Izzy was then surrounded by purple aura causing his turns all purple and the Crest of Knowledge shoots out of his tag.
"Kabuterimon digivolve to…MegaKabuterimon!"
"We need you. Get Kari. MegaKabuterimon, go!" Izzy yells.
"Horn Buster!" MegaKabuterimon charges at Myotismon but he moved his hand making MegaKabuterimon ram into WereGarurumon, knocking him off the roof, but he held onto the side.
"Crimson Lightning!" Myotismon uses his attack on the WereGarurumon's hands, making him fall off the roof screaming.
"WereGarurumon!" Matt called.
"Oh, that's got to hurt." Myotismon says.
He then gasped in pain and stumbled forward from the attack that he was hit with from behind.
"What?" Myotismon snarled looking back to see who had done it.
"Kari, here. Catch!" Wizardmon says tossing the tag and crest to her and she caught it.
"It's Wizardmon." Gatomon smiled.
"So, you're still alive?" Myotismon asked standing.
"That's right. It'll take more than the likes of you to destroy me." Wizardmon said.
"We will see." Myotismon said sending out an orb at Wizardmon, sending him back.
"No, Wizardmon!" Gatomon cried as Kari gasped.
"Now, give that to me you little brat." Myotismon says stepping up to my sister.
"No!" Kari says holding her Crest of Light with a determined look.
That wasn't a request." Myotismon says.
"Wait!" Someone cried.
"Huh?" Myotismon asks.
Kari smiled as she looked over to other side of the building to see Tai and Greymon.
"Mimi!" Lillymon exclaimed as the Child of Sincerity stepped up behind them next to her boyfriend.
"You just picked on the wrong guy's little sister, Fang Face." Tai says.
"Kari, here. Catch!" He says tossing her Digivice over to her.
Kari ran over and caught the Digivice, smiling as she had it, but then DemiDevimon swooped in and swiped it from her hands.
"Hey." Kari says. "I got the Digivice. You can thank me after you take over the world, boss." DemiDevimon says.
"That's nice work. Got get them, Phantomon." Myotismon says.
Tai was then surrounded by orange aura causing his Digivice turns solid orange and his Crest of Courage symbol shoots out of his tag.
"Greymon digivolve to…MetalGreymon!"
"Time out." Phantomon says backing off.
"Go get him, MetalGreymon." Tai says.
"Giga Blaster!" MetalGreymon fired his attack at Myotismon, but he held his hands out and made the rockets burst into data particles.
"But how?" Tai asks.
"Horn Buster! Blazing Sonic Breath! Dark Archery! Vulcan's Hammer! Wing Blade! Flower Cannon!" All of the Ultimate used their attacks on Myotismon, but yet again the vampire stopped them all.
"He's strong. Too strong." Matt says.
"I don't get it Shiro. He's an Ultimate right?" Rei asks.
"Yeah. We've got eight Ultimate level Digimon here but he's beating all of them like it's nothing." Shiro says.
T.K. and Patamon nodded at each other as the hamster/bat flew off.
"Are you done? I'm bored. It's time to finish you off." Myotismon says to Kari and Gatomon as they stood their ground.
"Nightmare…" Myotismon was about to start his attack.
"Patamon digivolved to…Angemon!"
"Now what?" Myotismon snarled as the light from the angel made him cringe away.
"Hand of Fate!" Angemon fired his attack making Myotismon fall to his knees and shudder and making Phantomon burst into data. "Have you had enough or do you want some more?" He asks.
"Actually, I was about to ask you the same question." Myotismon says. "Grizzly Wing!" He sends his bats at Kari and Gatomon making everyone gasp in horror.
"Kari!" Tai yells.
Wizardmon throws himself in front of the Child of Light and her Digimon.
Time seemed to slow down as Wizardmon fell to the ground, gasping in pain.
"Next time don't get in my way." Myotismon says.
"Uh no." Gatomon says as she and Kari run over to Wizardmon.
"Wizardmon. You're gonna be alright. Please don't leave. Wizardmon." Kari says.
"Are you alright, Gatomon?" Wizardmon asks weakly.
"You saved me. I'm sorry." Gatomon cries.
"About what?" Wizardmon asks.
"Sorry I got you involved this." Gatomon says.
"Don't be sorry. I don't have any regrets. If I hadn't met you my life would have had no meaning. I'm glad that you and I were friends." Wizardmon says.
"Best forever." Gatomon says.
"Thank you for everything, Gatomon." Wizardmon says.
"Wizardmon are you okay? Please answer." Kari begs.
Just then Kari's Digivice then started glowing in DemiDevimon's clawed foot, making him cry out.
"Look, its Kari's Digivice." Tai says.
"I can't hold on!" DemiDevimon cried as he let go of the Digivice and fell back.
Tai jumped up and caught the Digivice, then turned towards us.
"Kari, here." Tai says throwing it at her.
Kari caught it with a stern expression.
"Not her. No!" Myotismon gasped.
Kari was then surrounded by pink aura causing her Digivice to turn all pink and the Crest of Light shoots out of her tag.
"Gatomon digivolve to…" Gatomon was surrounded by light and grew to Angemon's height. She loses her tail and grows long blonde hair. Her paws turn into human hands and feet. A helmet covers her eyes and eight large angle wings appear from her back. "Angewomon!"
Everyone all stared up at the female Ultimate with looks of awe as she was covered with rainbow lights.
"Gatomon is…an angel?" Kari asks.
"Myotismon, you tried to destroy the DigiDestined in an attempt to conquer Earth. In doing so, you have ruined the lives of humans and Digimon alike. How can you justify yourself?" Angewomon asks.
"I don't have to explain myself to the likes of you. It is my destiny to plunge this world into darkness and become King of the Digital World. And no angel or Digimon has the power to stop me." Myotismon says.
"Myotismon, don't you have any regrets for the things you have done?" Angemon asks as the two angels hovered in the air.
"Nightmare…" Myotismon was getting ready to use one of his attacks, but Angewomon started hers first.
"Heaven's Charm!" Angewomon yells as a golden halo appeared above her head and a rainbow light fell over all of us, freezing the vampire in shock.
"My power…it's…it's growing." MetalGreymon says.
WereGarurumon climbed back up onto the roof, growling.
"Now!" WereGarurumon yells.
"Everyone, give your power to Angewomon." Garudamon says.
"Horn Buster! Blazing Sonic Breath! Ice Archery! Vulcan's Hammer! Wolf Claw! Wing Blade! Giga Blaster!" All of the Digimon shot their attacks out towards the halo above Angewomon.
The halo turned into what looked like a large green orb that crackled with power.
"Celestial Arrow!" Angewomon calls as she held out her left arm, the gloved hand with the wings on it expanding into a bow.
The orb flowing down into her right hand, turning into an arrow and she took aim at Myotismon, who was crying out for her to not hit him.
Angewomon lets go and the arrow hit him in his heart, if he had one, and he was shadowed in darkness as sparks crackled around him in black and white, being destroyed in a swarm of light, his mask being the only thing left.
"Myotismon is gone." Kari gasped.
"All right, Kari." Tai cheered as the others all cheered happily.
The building shook making everyone stumble.
"Let's get out of here before we're crushed." Sora called.
They were all picked up by their partners and they jumped off of the building so they didn't get hurt.
The ball shaped part of the building fell off and crashed down to the ground.
"You guys are the bomb. I can't believe we finally beat Myotismon." Tai says as they held their Digimon.
"Who are you?" Rei asks holding a tear shaped Digimon.
"You can call me Moonmon, Rei. This is my In-Training form." Moonmon says.
"You were awesome Dracomon." Shiro says.
Kari and T.K. were off to the side looking up to the sky, both of them getting a bad feeling, Gatomon and Patamon looking up in the air too.
"That wasn't so tough after all. Great." Joe says holding Bukamon.
"Yeah." Mimi cheered holding Tanemon.
"Hopefully now the real world will return to normal." Matt says with Gabumon at his side.
"Hey, you two, what's wrong?" Sora asks holding Yokomon.
"Look up there." T.K. says.
"What is it?" Matt asks.
"The fog. It's getting thicker." Kari says.
"Impossible." Tai says as everyone looked up to see what we were.
"But…Myotismon is gone." The Child of Light says.
"Maybe not. Maybe he's still out there somewhere." Joe says. "What if we just made him stronger?" He asks.
