Morning,

I made it back before the party but because of my wounds Odin made me stay in my room to rest. The guards didn't remember me or Loki attacking them and I told everyone I was attacked by a random sorcerer. When I woke up the next morning I took a quick bathe and the girls put my armor on me. As I walked to the training grounds I saw Odin march towards the healers. This wasn't normal, I quietly followed him to the healers where I saw a woman on the table.

"Who do you think you are?" I recognized that voice instantly

"Jane" I walked in and we smiled "Jane I can't believe you're here!"

"Kida wait!"

I ignored Thor and hugged Jane tightly, but when I did red and black dust shot out throwing me across the room. I pushed myself up to see Jane looking pale and I ran back to her. Thor stopped me from getting too close while Odin looked at her arm I saw something red flow through her veins.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked

"Follow me"

Thor, Jane, and I followed him to the library we walked into a room I haven't seen before. A massive tree grew to the ceiling with different galaxies and stars glowing on the branches. Jane and I stopped staring and continued following Thor and Odin to a small room. He opened a book where there were pictures of these pale strange looking people.

"The Dark Elves reigned absolute and unchallenged" Odin began as I stared into the book.

"I know these stories, mother would read it to us as children." Apparently another childhood memory I don't have.

"Their leader Malekith made a weapon out of that darkness called the aether. Unlike the other relics which are made of stone the aether is fluid and ever changing. It changes matter into dark matter, it seeks host bodies drawing strength from their life force." I shot a quick and worried glance towards Jane. "Malekith sought to use the aether to return the universe to one of darkness. But after a millennia of bloodshed my father Bohr defeated Malekith creating peace that lasted for thousands of years."

"Does this book tell you how to get it out of me?" Jane asked

"No"

With that Odin left, Thor and I led Jane to a room down the hall from ours. Thor left to get some food while Jane told me what had happened.

"Enough about me" she said "how have you been?"

"I'm good, how's my dad?"

"He's missed you a lot, he had this big ceremony on your birthday, it was beautiful."

Earth, Two weeks ago

Tony walked through the Malibu beach house as the party went on. He decided to throw a little party honoring Kida on her eighteenth birthday. The house buzzed with music and laughter, Natasha sat by the fireplace talking with Bruce. Clint was playing a drinking game with Darcy and Erik while Pepper and Jane talked. Tony walked through the crowd and nodded his head to a few people. He walked upstairs and disappeared from the party.

"How is Tony?" Jane asked

"He still misses her a lot, we were able to see her for less than a day during the AIM incident." Pepper said. "But he still worries about her."

As Jane looked around the room she noticed another sad face. Steve stood in front of the window holding some champagne. Jane ended her conversation and walked over to him.

"Hey Steve"

"Good to see you Ms. Foster" He said with a welcoming smile. "How are you?"

"I'm good, just came over to ask how are you?"

"Good Natasha and Clint are helping me with fitting into this time." Jane nodded her head and looked down seeing something square in his jacket pocket.

"What is that?"

Steve looked down and pulled it out revealing a small white box with a blue ribbon around it. Steve quickly let her see it before putting it back in his pocket.

"It's Kida's birthday gift, I was hoping she would be back by now." The saddened look in his eyes made Jane's heart melt. She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"She'll be back soon, and I know Kida she'll love to be your girlfriend."

"G-Girlfriend?" Steve's cheeks turned bright red as he tried to laugh and act calm. "No Kida must be like royalty up there, and I'm just a soldier."

"You're her soldier"

With that Jane walked away, she knew Steve and Kida would get together one day. Tony returned to the party and clinked his glass with a fork.

"Hello everyone I want to thank everyone for coming out here today to honor my daughter on her eighteenth birthday. Pepper and I decided to do one last thing before the party ends. So everyone please fallow me down to the beach."

The lit lanterns showed the path leading down to the beach, there was a row of white lanterns with tags of the guests' names. Everyone grabbed theirs and lit them. Tony and Pepper released theirs first before everyone followed them. The lit lanterns floated around them until the breeze pulled them into the sky. Pepper wrapped her arms around Tony.

"This is a beautiful idea" Pepper said and kissed his cheek, Tony reached up and held her hand. Jane walked up to them holding her phone, Pepper and Tony smiled.

"Any words from this lovely couple to the birthday girl?"

"Kida if you're watching this, just remember that Pepper and I will always love you. Wherever you are, whatever you do you will always be our daughter." Tony said "I hope you're doing great up in Asgard, I already told Thor no boys. And…don't forget to come home soon."

Asgard. Present Day

I wiped a tear from the corner of my eye before it could fall, I held the phone and paused the video seeing my dad and Pepper. I gave Jane her phone back while she smiled at me.

"Are you crying?"

"No" I lied "I'm just slightly allergic to this pollen from the flowers."

Jane simply nodded her head before leaving to go spend some time with Thor. I went back to the training grounds and practiced some archery with Sif. I didn't leave training until the stars where out. I decided not to go to dinner, I didn't want to be around Odin. I went to my room feeling my sore muscles move under my armor. I closed the door and started to walk to the bathroom when I noticed something move in the corner of my eye.

"How's Loki?" I quickly jumped and turned around to see Frigga in my room.

"You scared me, and I haven't seen Loki in a long time. So I have no answer for you."

"Oh you do" She started walking around me like a shark circling prey "I knew you weren't attack by a sorcerer. You left Asgard and took Loki with you, to go to Midgard."

I started shaking and lowered in my head in defeat, there wasn't a sarcastic remark to end this conversation. And besides, that trick only works with my dad.

"Ok yes it's true, I took Loki out of his cell and in return he took me to Midgard so I could help my father." I admitted "We returned when I was injured and he returned to his cell. But how did you know?"

"I've been able to tell when Loki lies for thousands of years, did you expect me to not notice when you're lying."

"I'm sorry"

"Don't be, you were right about us. We've locked you away from your home and you've become severely homesick." She reached up and pulled the hair out of my face. "Just understand that we never wanted to hurt you, we were all afraid of losing you."

"I'm not going anywhere" I said giving her a small smile.

"Now get some rest, you've been training for quite some time." She left and closed the door behind her, as I went to sleep that night I couldn't stop thinking about Jane. The terrible feeling that something was coming only grew stronger.

Chapter Song

Don't pay no mind to the demons

They fill you with fear

The trouble-it might drag you down

If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
