I was on the dock while Leah had locked herself away in her and Elena's room. I was wearing a black tank top and jean shorts with a yellow knit jacket with blue eye shadow and pink lip gloss. I thought back to long ago.

1864

I knew where they were. They were the ones that had killed Katherine and later Emily. I couldn't enter the house so I had to wait for the right moment. Thomas Fell came out first and I attacked, snatching him up. I dropped his body before I moved his wife Honoria. The taste of the blood was exhilarating. Finally, Jonathan Gilbert came out and I devoured him as well, unaware that the ring had brought him back to life. I had a smile on my face as I drained the life from him.

Present

I began to skip some rocks. I had no idea why anyone did it. It wasn't really helping me out. At that moment, my phone began to ring. It was Damon.

"What?" I answered.

"I can see you're in a good mood." He quipped. "Are you PMSing?"

It was at that moment that I was upset that he couldn't see me rolling my eyes.

"What do you want?" I asked in annoyance.

"I showered, I shaved, had breakfast…" He responded. "I'm very relaxed."

"I'm not in the mood for small talk." I warned him. "What do you want?"

"I have good news. Tyler Lockwood ran away from home last night." He explained.

"How do you know this?" I questioned.

"I heard it from Sheriff Forbes who heard it from a very distraught Carol Lockwood." He told me. "Our werewolf problems are over so now we can focus on our problems with Rebekah and the fact that Kol wants the sacrifice to happen. I happen to have a dagger that can kill him."

"You know there is the issue of our mother who is very much in love with him." I pointed out.

"Well, I'm hoping that she'll choose her children." He declared. I'm supposed that it wouldn't hurt to try it. "I'm gonna plan all of this out."

"I can't believe that you're actually using your head for a chance." I remarked.

"Yes, Sara, I've become you." He said cheekily. "I know it's tragic, but I need to be that way. Now if you excuse me I have a murder to plan."

He then hung up and I began to think some more. I was surprised that he hadn't asked me to come back. Jeremy could have gone back with Elena and Leah later. I looked into the house and saw Jeremy reading one of the journals.

I decided that one thing that I needed to do was try to get Leah to come out. I wasn't sure if she was more angry or sad about Elena at the moment. It was at that time that my phone rang again. This time it was Tina. I answered it more enthusiastically.

"Hey, sorry we haven't talked in a while. I've been busy." I apologized.

"Where are you anyway?" She asked me.

"I'm at the Gilbert Lake House." I answered. "What's up?"

"Your brother is sleeping with the local reporter." Tina told me. "Not to mention that Jenna was taking Kol on a tour of my family's property from the Civil War."

"Do you have any idea why?" I questioned.

"No, but I'll try to find out." She promised.

"You need to be careful." I remarked. "Kol is dangerous and you're not invincible. Though, maybe you should talk to my mother if you can find her. She might talk."

"So I heard about how Kol wants Elena to die." She stated. "How is Jeremy taking it?"

"He's mad and Leah's mad and I'm mad at him." I explained. "Elena's mad because no one agrees with her. I think I'm gonna go. I should be back tomorrow."

I then headed into the house where Jeremy and Elena were downstairs and Leah was not. Jeremy and I exchanged glances as I took my jacket off.

"Are you still mad at him over me?" Elena asked.

"Yes, I'm mad, but I'm also mad at you." I told her.

"This is just a difference of opinion." Elena declared.

"Can you stop making gross understatements?" Jeremy questioned. "Sara, I'm sorry I made the deal with Kol. Agreeing to give up your life is not a difference of opinion."

"So what does Jonathan Gilbert have to say?" I inquired.

"He says you killed him." Elena remarked.

"You know you never told me about any of this stuff." Jeremy replied.

"This was a time that we were in vengeance mode against the Founding Families." I replied. "It was for Katherine and also for what they did to Emily as well. I didn't know about his ring."

"He made it sound like you were a monster." Jeremy commented.

"I was." I declared. "If you want the truth, just ask me."

1864

The house had several men and women in it as well as several bodies. I didn't discriminate in who I ate. I loved the taste of human blood, not caring who I had to kill to get it. I didn't kill everyone right away. I liked to have people around to save for later.

"Who wants to die next?" I asked the dancers. They then began to fight over it. Even though it was pretty horrible, them fighting over it was kind of amusing. "You know this music is too depressing. You might lose your head if you don't make this more exciting.

"I see you have company, Sister." Damon commented.

"It's good to see you Damon." I replied. I then passed one of the girls over to him. "Would you like some?"

"You're mad for bringing these women here when the entire town is hunting us." He told me.

"Don't be worried about the Founding Families. I've already taken care of them." I explained. "I'll kill the rest soon."

Damon then compelled the girls to leave and forget what happened. Yes, it was him that was killing my buzz back then.

"Damon, stop being such a bore." I pouted. "I was just having fun."

"Staying alive is fun, Sara. We have to be more careful than this." He argued. "We have to be more clever, like Katherine."

"Look where that got her." I replied with a chuckle.

"I'm done." He responded as he began to walk away. "I am leaving town."

"Damon, it was just a joke. I'm sorry." I apologized frantically as I sped in front of him. "I know you hate me but I will be more careful. I promise. Please just don't go. Please don't leave me. You're all that I have."

"You will get us killed." He told me. "You can do that to yourself."

Present

"It was at that point that I turned everything off so I wouldn't feel anymore." I explained.

"You make it sound like you were Damon." Jeremy commented.

"Damon probably wished that he could have been as bad as me." I countered. "One thing that you need to know is when a vampire turns it off, they feel absolutely nothing. That's not to say that we're mindless killing machines because we do still have our brain functions. You could say it's liberating to do whatever you want."

"Well why did you turn it back on?" Elena inquired.

"I'm getting to that." I snapped. "For weeks I kept spiraling out of control. When it wasn't able the blood, it was about the men that I was having sex with. Most of them thought I was a prostitute, but I didn't care. I did have a pretty simple mindset. It was much animalistic in a sense. I had no desire to fight it."

"How did no one notice?" Jeremy questioned as I gave him and Elena some tea.

"It was war and everyone cared more about that than anything else, even though the Confederates were getting their asses kicked by then."

1864

I fed from a soldier dying on a table. It was at that time that I noticed a woman in a cloak and knew that I had found my next target. I began to stalk after her before she stopped, now aware of my presence. I continued to move toward her before I dove at her, but she was the one who wound up on top of me.

"How dumb can you be?" She asked me.

Present

"Her name was Alexia Branson." I remarked. At that instance, I heard the door open and Leah came down the stairs.

"She never told me how you met." The blonde replied. "I can't believe that you tried to kill her."

"What was she even doing in Mystic Falls?" Elena questioned.

"She heard it was a good place for vampires and didn't know that they had all been wiped out or gone." I explained. "Anna was the only one to make it out alive. What was important was she needed a place to crash, so I brought her home with me.

1864

"Thank you so much for opening you home up. I much prefer the comfort of women. I know I should be weary since you tried to eat me, but beggars can't be choosers." She declared before she looked around at the several bodies still on the floor. "But perhaps they should be."

"I've been meaning to clean this up." I responded, wondering how I was going to do that.

"By God, you're a ripper." She muttered.

"What?" I questioned in confusion.

"There are good things about being a vampire and there are bad things and you are only indulging in the bad things. It looks like we will have to make you better."

Present

I wiped a tear from my eye at that point as Leah gave me a hug. She may have loved her romantically, but she didn't even come to knowing her like I had known her.

"I needed to get this out." I told them. I hadn't actually cried over her death because I was so angry. Jeremy then took me from her. "Give me a minute. I'll get back to it."

I went out for a walk by myself. When I came back, I noticed that Jeremy was downstairs and Elena and Leah were not, meaning they were probably somewhere together. We would have to eat soon. Maybe it would be a good idea just to get a pizza.

"It looks like Jonathan got more and more insane as he went on." He noted, journal still in hand. "I guess that being obsessed with vampires would do that to you."

I leaned against the support beam as Jeremy took out another book and made a surprised gesture.

"Oh my god, he researched the Originals." He commented.

"Seriously?" I asked in disbelief as I took a seat next to him.

"Yes, there are all of these pages." He explained as he turned through it before stopping on a drawing of a dagger. "'The wood from one tree and one tree alone can kill an Original. An ancient white oak would bring death to an Original vampire. When the tree burned all hope was thought lost.' He was trying to figure out how to kill an Original."

He then read about the dagger which Damon had received from John.

"Do you think that this dagger actually exists?" Jeremy questioned.

"Yes, because Damon has it." I told him.

"John gave Damon the weapon to kill Kol?" Jeremy asked in surprise. "But the book says that only humans can use it because it will bring death to any demon."

"John's trying to get Damon killed." I realized as I grabbed the book. I then began to dial him, but he didn't answer. I had to call someone else. Luckily, I knew who to call.

"Sara, what's wrong? Why are you breathing so heavily?" Anna asked me after she had picked up.

"Is Damon with you?" I questioned.

"Yes, we're at a party at your house and Kol brought your mom." She answered.

"Tell him that he can't use the dagger because it has to be used by a human or it will kill him." I explained. "Give it to Alaric. Tina's not there is she?"

She had already hung up on me. I hoped that she would stop him in time.

"What are you doing Sara?" Jeremy questioned.

"Damon was planning on killing Kol tonight." I explained. "Anna was going to tell him that he can't do it. Alaric should be able to."

I got a text a few minutes later saying that Ric had done the deed and it appeared to work on him. I also got another saying that Anna had broken my mother's neck. I was relieved. It was at that moment that Elena and Leah came downstairs.

"So, Leah has convinced me that I should continue living my life." The doppelganger announced. "So, tell me what, exactly, is the plan to kill Rebekah because stopping the sacrifice without doing it will only result in the deaths of every person in Mystic Falls?"

"Well we just finished dealing with Kol." I explained.

"In other words, you didn't even consult me or anyone before you went and executed your plan." Elena replied. "I said that I don't want to die, but that doesn't mean that I want to be left out of this. Since I'm so important in this, I should have more say. So what exactly was the point of this talking about your past? Why did I even need to hear any of that?"

"Because it was the low point of my life where I could have given up but I chose to accept Lexi's help because I wanted to be better." I answered. I was fighting with her and I wasn't even her girlfriend.

1864

"All of these men are dead or dying. How does that make you feel?" She asked. She had beaten Freud by several years.

"I don't feel anything." I responded. "Even if I could feel, why would I feel anything about people I don't know anything about? Isn't that the point, not to feel things?"

"There is a better way. You just have to want it." Lexi told me.

"How do I know it's better? You can't even walk in the sun?" I challenged.

"Well it's going to really be bad at first, but eventually when you get control of your emotions, you'll be a lot like you were before you changed." She explained.

"Why would I want that?" I responded. "You make it sound so terrible."

"Because you'll be able to love." She answered. "Love is the most powerful of all emotions. It may take a while and you may lose the one you love, but love is the point of it all. When you feel love, it is the greatest thing in the world and it'll be true euphoria for you."

Present

"She was right." I told them. "Love did make all of my pain and suffering worth it. I waited and waited until I eventually found it. There is also another reason. It's only been a few months since Lexi died, Elena. Do you really want her to go through that again?"

"No." Elena admitted. "I'll fight for it, just let me have a say in this."

It was at that moment that we got a call from Damon saying that Kol had escaped. Apparently, it required the dagger to stay in him. He guessed that he would come looking for Elena, so Damon got over here as fast as he could with the dagger.

"Didn't you read the part that it had to stay in him?" Jeremy asked me.

"No, I was too busy trying to save my life for that." I remarked. Though for once, it wasn't his fault because Damon had no way of knowing it would kill him.

"Well do you have the dagger?" Elena questioned. "I want it. If we're going to do this, I want to be the one to do it."

The door then blew open. That meant that Kol was here. Elena and I went over to him.

"You know I may not have been invited in but I can easily knock this place down." The Original remarked.

"You can come in and take me." Elena invited. He walked in and she wasted no time in stabbing him with the dagger once more. That turned out to be pretty easy. I couldn't believe how ruthless she was with all of it.

"Okay, so how about we head home now?" Leah suggested.

"I'm not leaving until all of you promise to let me be involved in this." Elena declared adamantly. "I want your word."

"I think judging by what we just saw that it's a good idea." I declared.

"Fine, we can let you in on this." Damon agreed.

Damon put Elijah's body in his trunk. It was a good thing that the road wasn't that bumpy even though I wasn't sure if that would cause the dagger to come out.

When we got home, I went and downstairs to the dungeon where Anna had put my mother.

"What are you doing?" She asked, having woken up. She looked pissed. "As your mother, I demand that you let me out of here immediately."

"Mom, I know you feel about Kol, but I'm asking you as your daughter to side with us on this." I declared. "Kol wants to let Elena die and we can't let that happen. If you promise not to remove the dagger from Kol or do anything else, I'll let you out of there."

"You know that taking Kol out of the situation only gives Rebekah more of an advantage." She told me.

"Well, if you're willing to help us, we might be able to do this." I remarked. "Kol has to have told you some stuff about her."

"He did but I'm not ready to talk about it yet." She replied. "Open the door. I will help you. You have my word, but I am going to need a room since I can't go back."

So Marianna is now helping her children, and Kol has been daggered. Also Jeremy and Sara have made up. Please don't forget to review.
