"I have come to tell you, on behalf of the Zapped, that our answer," Elisabeth said boldly, "is no. No, we will not be joining you. This is a deranged, suicidal mission based on your own personal revenge and we will not be considered a part of it."

"Oh," Takada sighed. "Well… I guess I can't change your mind, can I?" She fixed the young woman with a cold, hard stare. "I take it you have a plan of your own, if mine is not totally right for you."

"Bingo." Suddenly, Elisabeth's hand shot out, a long fork of what looked like lightning springing forth in Takada's direction. She rolled off the bench abruptly and knocked Elisabeth back with a makeshift tidal wave, sending her smashing into the clownfish tank.

Takada rose up on a wave, allowing it to keep her footing steady. She regarded the dark-haired American as she scrambled hurriedly to her feet and yanked off her jacket, revealing the Zapped's signature lightning bolt on her left breast. Takada threw a torrent of water at the woman, hoping to drown her without a fuss, but realized too late that Elisabeth was not going down without a fight.

Elisabeth sprinted to the bench where Takada had been previously seated and leapt on the Japanese eighteen-year-old from behind, caging her with her arms and surprising her so much that the wave Takada was supporting herself on collapsed in a giant puddle. The two females dropped to the ground and Takada struck out, catching her captor on the side of the face.

With Elisabeth's grip loosened, she hastily broke free and staggered toward the shark tank, pressing her hand against the glass. Her breathing was beginning to labor, and they had only just begun. Elisabeth's hand swiped out to catch Takada by the ankle, dragging her down so that she banged her head on the shelf by the shark tank. She gasped for breath, her enemy looming over her with a ball of electricity fizzing and crackling in her hand.

It was then that she opened her mouth and exhaled sharply, sending a jet of water into Elisabeth's face. This sent her flipping back onto her spine with a loud thud. Droplets of water sprayed out from the spot where Elisabeth landed. She was lying in a pool created by Takada, and Takada was taking the time she was immobile to soak it all up again, healing herself.

Elisabeth watched in horror as her scars began to seal, the formerly blooming bruises turning back to a clear, blemish-free complexion. So this was why this Stormeye had chosen an aquarium as the place to meet the Zapped. She was that hydrokinetic, the one that had wreaking havoc across the globe. An aquarium, evidently, was filled with water. If she got any pains, they would be cured almost immediately.

Takada stood, her hair saturated but her clothes beginning to dry out. This triggered a memory.

"Dark, wet hair, looked Japanese…"

L at the hospital. Had Stormeye been the one to try to kill Claire? And why, why would she do that? What possible motivation, if Claire was indeed a child of the storm, would Stormeye have to even think of murdering her?

A little shaky, yet empowered by this new revelation, driven by her curiosity and determination to discover the truth, Elisabeth clambered to her feet, facing the healing Stormeye. As she healed, her eyes gained that furious gray color again, as if they were anticipating a brand new storm in their own way.

"I'm… I'm not the first… am I?" Elisabeth breathed.

"What are you talking about?"

"That girl, Claire Riddle, you tried to kill her… but why? I'm not the first person who… denied you… am I? You found out she was a child of the storm… and… and you tried to kill her because she… disagreed with you… like I did…"

Takada's eyes widened in shock, then returned to their normal size. "I see. Claire, was that her name? A lack of control on my part, actually, and not a conflicting opinion from her."

"But why?" she demanded. "Why would you kill her?"

"You said, 'tried to', like it didn't work."

"It didn't…" she choked out. "She's still alive, despite your best efforts. Comatose. Brain damage."

"Oh, that's not so bad." She smiled. "You figured that out with your mind reader friend, didn't you? What was his name… the Mentalist?"

"Leave him out of this…"

"So that's why you're here." She took a few steps towards her enemy. "It's nothing to do with just hating me, wanting me gone. It's more than just not wanting to kill ordinary humans. It's about your friends." Her tone was horribly patronizing. "Aw. Isn't that sweet? Faithful to the last, and your last moment is coming. You think you can take me down with just those little sparks of yours? I could drown you in your own hydration. Everything you drank today, everything you washed in… it would kill you slowly and painfully."

"Go on, then," Elisabeth dared her. "Do it. Don't just stand around talking. 'Cause if I'm going down, you're coming with me, you psychotic bitch."

She ran forward, shoving her hands towards Takada's throat and sending as many volts as she could into the Asian woman's skin. She was being drowned at the same time, true to Takada's word. It was just a matter of who would lose consciousness first, who would die first. Elisabeth channeled as many names into her head that would give her conviction as she could.

Ben, Tessa, Lara, L, Matt, Mello, Near, B, Light, Emilia, Misa, Matsuda, Mom, Dad, Claire…

She was losing her train of thought now. Lack of oxygen made her gulp for air, her grasp becoming more limp, though her thumb was still pressing on Takada's neck. She was beginning to feel like she needed to vomit up the water filling her esophagus or she would die very, very soon. She needed air. She needed strength. She needed help.

"Volta!" a familiar voice yelled.

Both Elisabeth and Takada started at the sound and stopped what they were doing. Neither were expecting the person who ran through the water to reach them, and never before had they looked quite so fierce. She grabbed Elisabeth by the hand and yanked her up to her feet.

"Misa?" Elisabeth croaked. "What are you…?"

"When we figured out you'd gone, I got out first," Misa explained hurriedly. She glowered down at Takada. "This bitch is my fight, anyway."

Takada coughed and scooped some water into her mouth. She clicked her neck and glared back. "Misa Amane," she sneered. "What a fucking surprise."

"She heals with the water," Elisabeth told her.

"Get up on that shelf and stay back," Misa warned. Takada stared up at the blonde as Elisabeth did as she was told.

Misa planted her feet and soon her face looked as though it was being lit from the inside, as though a candle were being held underneath her chin, getting hotter and brighter as time progressed. Fire rippled across the floor so that steam hissed and ballooned. Misa was evaporating the water so that Takada couldn't heal with it. She wasn't as stupid as she looked.

Takada jumped up, enraged, and shot water at Misa, who retaliated with a quick fireball. It was hopeless. The two were caught in stalemate. Whenever Takada tried to throw water at Misa, it evaporated into steam instantly, and whenever Misa attempted an offensive move, the flame was hastily doused. Misa had the advantage, as she was fresh into the fight and only needed to stay hot in order to replenish her supply of fire. Takada had been fighting for longer, but could heal from the water. She only needed to break open one of the tanks.

Elisabeth rested for a moment, getting her voice back and removing the excess water from her lungs by coughing.

She got the feeling there was personal motivation behind Misa's fighting. Remembering that Kiyomi Takada was an ex-girlfriend of Light's, it soon made sense to her. Misa was losing too much already to lose to this old flame as well.

The door burst open and Ben, Lara and Tessa ran in. Lara ran to assist Elisabeth whilst Tessa made to tackle Takada to the ground. She slipped on a puddle made by Takada dousing one of Misa's fireballs and smacked her head against the floor. This gave Takada a chance to go for Tessa, so Ben lifted one of the tanks with his mind and threw at their opponent's head.

"No!" Elisabeth cried out.

"What?" Ben asked. "She's down! There's no way she could take that!"

"Water heals her!" Misa protested. "Water makes her stronger!"

Every single other member of the Zapped ran in at that exact moment. L went to Elisabeth, Light staring at his ex-girlfriend's slowly moving body. All of the matter in the pool of water surrounding her head was gathering together to repair her skull. It lifted her up and she touched the back of her head with one hand, feeling the place where she previously had a fractured cranium. She grinned.

"That was very ticklish," she teased.

When B ran at her, he was made to drown on-land till he was unconscious. L predicted her moves but she was twice as fast, slamming him into the glass of the shark tank nearby with an unexpected wave. He staggered to his feet and held up his hands, signaling for all of them to stop. Rose was busy giving B mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, as she was the only who could touch him without being suffocated.

Takada turned to face L. Her expression was dark and furious.

"Wait a moment," L told her. "Just think. We're giving you a chance to get the help you need. No more killing. No more dying. Nothing. We are asking you to show some compassion, because we know you are capable of having it. You are a great power, Kiyomi. Now become a beautiful one."

For a second, it looked as though she was seriously considering taking up his offer.

Then Light spoke up. "Kiyomi, please, don't do this-"

She whipped around and turned on him, eyes practically blazing with rage. "You!" she screeched.

"What?" he asked.

"I know you!" she insisted. "I know your deception and your lies! You see, someone told me. I got that information a few days ago, about just how much you care." She pointed at Light accusingly. "You used me for your own gain, and then you left me in the back of a van under a blanket to burn!"

"What? No, I didn't!" he disagreed. "You've got it all wrong! Kiyomi, that never happened!"

"Not here it didn't," she growled. "Not in this universe. But it has happened. You used me like a piece of dirt, seduced me with kind words and such, and then you killed me! As for you-" She pointed to Mello. "You kidnapped me! You used me to get to him!" Now onto Near, who looked as surprised as everyone else. "You thought me just a pawn in his game. I didn't matter to you. I wasn't human to you." Misa. "You threatened to kill me, you bitch. You attacked me in my own home."

"That makes no sense-" Lara started.

"You became the reason a criminal died," Takada accused the teenager. "You were killed in a mugging."

"That's madness!" Ben piped up.

"You were killed by him," she jabbed her finger in Light's direction again. "You were accused of attempted murder, to try and kill the man who killed your friend over there."

"Stop it!" Rose barked.

"Killed by Light again for the murder of your father."

"Kiyomi-" L said.

"Killed by Light again for trying to stop him."

L stared in disbelief at Takada, then at Light, who took a step back, shaking his head at the accusations.

"Shall I go on?" Takada asked wryly. "Matsuda was traumatized for life after shooting Light. That redhead was shot trying to bring him down. The English blondie was killed in an explosion when Light's supporters targeted her mother. As for Volta over there, she was hit by a car after leaving a pathology lab."

"You're crazy," Ben shouted. "None of that ever happened."

"I said, not here," she snarled at him.

L helped Elisabeth around to the other side of the room so that they were not behind Takada. Misa still looked infuriated. She took a step forward, ready to set the woman alight, when she stopped because of the sight of someone behind Takada.

Tessa was standing behind her, her face covered in blood, with a huge shard of sharp glass in her hand. She was pale and her expression was dark. Before anyone could dissuade her, she grabbed Takada by the chin, yanking her face skywards, and, once her white neck was exposed, slit her throat with the glass shard.

Simultaneously, Takada choked out in shock and the shark tank exploded, scattering glass everywhere. Instantly, the able Zapped ducked down out of the way of the fragments, covering their heads with their hands.

Tessa was crouching next to Matt, eyes wide, and had been there all that time.

Two Tessas in one room?

But Takada was dead! The panic was over. A disbelieving laugh broke out all around the room. There were people embracing and laughing, hardly comprehending their good luck.

None of them saw, at first, Elisabeth, who was hunched over herself in pain. She looked down at her stomach, touching the area of skin around the place a giant shard of glass from the exploded tank had struck her. It was embedded in her flesh, and when she checked her hand, she saw it covered in fresh red blood.

She slumped down against the wall, counting her breaths.

"Hey, Lise, isn't this-? Lise?" Tessa gasped. "Lise!"

She was the first to notice. She held her friend close as the others gathered round, trying to save her. In the process, she got blood all down her shirt. When she finally felt Elisabeth's life silently go, without a fuss, without final words or sentimentality, she pressed her forehead to Elisabeth's, getting further blood on her face.

The lights flickered out, and Tessa went back so she could kill Takada in revenge, with the glass shard that ended Elisabeth's life.

Then she went back to see if she could see her friend's life again. Instead she only saw B in Thames House. It was only a few tries later that she finally managed to say the words she wanted to say to her friend, the friend who had been willing to sacrifice her life for them all.

"I just wanted you to know that… that you were the best babysitter ever."

Things should be piecing together by now, but this isn't quite the end, so keep reading. I think the majority, if not all, of Tessa's appearances have been accounted for so far.

I'd love to see how you reacted, so put it in a review.

Results of the poll on my profile will be up soon.
