Mail and Mate's Don't Mix

'This is not what I thought our first Valentine's Day as a couple together would be like' Harry thought with a sigh as he shifted his lower horse half so he could sit more comfortably on the stone floor of the Great Hall. 'I thought that it would be filled to the brim with different types of romance...that we would be on the same page as one another and I would not have to worry about Bane's silly superstation about human holidays. Why is he doing this for?'

"Do not worry, my beloved mate! I will protect you for all of these horrible messages," Bane declared as he stood tall as he quickly and skilfully reached out and grabbed Harry's mail while ignoring the fact that he was stealing the mail meant for Harry. "I will make sure that you will only get the mail that you deserve, like your friend says 'Constant Vigilance'."

Harry let out a long suffering sigh as he stared up at the large moving cloud of owl's that were delivering the mail while he scanned the area for Hedwig. "While that is a good idea Bane I do not think that Hedwig would allow someone who wanted to hurt me to use her to send me a letter. She is a smart owl like that."

"But those horrid humans might use another owl to send you mail," Bane countered as he grabbed one of the apples off of the table and slipped it into Harry's slowly moving out reached hand. "Do not try and follow the patriotic ideas that those human's have installed into your pure and innocent mind my beloved mate. I will protect you from them, just like that King piece in the game your human friend seems to like so much."

"I'm more than just a piece in their games, and in whatever is going though your head," Harry muttered to himself while pointedly ignoring the snickers and knowing looks he gained from Hermione and Ron. "We all know how everyone seems to think that I can make the impossible possible, what with the war and all so they most likely have some sort of hope that I can make the dumb dreams of dumb people come true while making sure to hide from them just how dumb they truly are."

"Harry!" Hermione blurted out as she shot one of her two best friends a sharp, scolding pointed look. "You know better than to talk about people like that."

"You do know that you are not my mother Hermione," Harry said sharply only to groan and take a bite out of the apple that Bane had placed in his hand before answering. "I'm sorry Hermione, you know that I am never in a good mood when it is Valentine's Day...and with my mate's behaviour...personally I think that he is just jealous."

"Well I think it is cute, I find it adorable how you both seem to be building this wonderful relationship that you are both growing and putting effort into," Hermione said before shooting Ron a frustrated and pointed look to which Ron totally ignored as he scanned the air for his family's own owl. "In fact I wish that more partners would treat and value their romantic relationships' like you two."

"Do not worry 'Mione, we are still in Hogwarts. Just think, you have plenty of time for a certain someone to grow up," Harry replied only to get out a low groan as his own mate let out a joy filled cry before pushing piles of random letter's off of the table, without even caring just who they belonged to. "I guess that he spotted Hedwig."

"Get ready to receive your Valentines surprise," Bane said excitedly without taking his keen eyes off of Hedwig as the snowy white owl headed towards them. "My love for you will shine like no other star in the sky!"

"Something tells me that Bane has not quiet understood what keeping a secret means at times," Hermione said with a laugh and a smile as her friend let out a low groan. "At least you will be able to find out just what has gotten Bane into this excitable state."

Letting out a soft hum of agreement Harry allowed his eyes to follow the decent of his faithful owl Hedwig as she landed on the table in front them. As Hedwig paused to pinch several slices of bacon from Ron's plate Harry spotted a strange yet small shaped lump inside of the letter that was tied to Hedwig's leg.

"What have you got there girl?" Harry asked as he gently untied the letter, wondering just why Bane had bothered to give the letter and whatever was inside it some extra safety only to frown in confusion at the sudden weight of the envelope. "Bane...what have you put inside of the envelope?"

"If you open it up then you will know."
