Chapter 37

Blinx had returned to the Condor ages ago and now sat in the kitchen staring into a bowl of...something...she wasn't sure what. The Book now lay discarded on her bed.

King Agar and herself had continued to talk long before she'd returned to the Condor, but he'd proceeded to take her outside to the gardens rather than keep her in the stuffy hidden chamber.
They'd talked as they walked;

"How do you know about my Magic?" she asked.

"It is written that The Princess of Destinies has a great amount of power in her blood. I take it you've never known" he more stated than asked her.

"Where I'm from, magic is only an illusion" she told him "Created by wires and mirrors. There is no real magic"

"A shame" the old man said with a sad shake of his head.

"If it helps, I am practicing" she said.
He smiled and nodded "Then continue to do so"

"But to other matters. Why do you want me to marry Finn? He's the last person I want to be tied to for eternity!"

"I'm afraid it is necessary" the blind king stated "It is written in the book and in our history. I do not wish to enforce it upon you, if I could change the writings I would, but our people would rattle and break if the prophecy was not fulfilled" he explained.

"Just what is this prophecy?!" she asked a little too loudly "All you're telling me is that Vapos will thrive! And I thought you couldn't read the book anyway"

"I cannot. Scholars have studied that scribbling for centuries. Some have been able to decipher some of it but only recently. there are still hundreds of pages yet to be known to us"

"Well, how did you know it was about me? Where did it come from?" She asked as they reappeared in the throne room.

"Legend says it was given to my ancestor a thousand years ago by a seer who had a vision and blindly wrote the words during it" he told her with a dramatic wave of his hand...that she had to duck to avoid.
"When I was a boy, I used to stare at those images, day in day out, I was obsessed with the stories my father told me and used to let my imagination run free" he faded off and, though his eyes were white and blind, she could see he was far, far away, he returned to reality moments later.
"The children in the school used to look at second hand editions. They still do to this day" he finished.

"What about this Prophecy? What is it?" she tried again. The King looked at her awkwardly.

"It is said that our Domo and the Princess will unite as one to save the Terra from ultimate destruction"

"And you think that to do that, we have to be married?" she said, wanting verification.
Agar hesitated as he led her outside onto the balcony overlooking the Royal Gardens "The book speaks later of a child, conceived in battle, who will later become a hero and win a great war"

Blinx stared at his wrinkled face, then things clicked "Wait...are you telling me that Finn and I...we..." she gagged "Oh god! no! Never happen! Not happening!"
The king did not look happy. But, he did look sad "I was afraid you would say that"

He departed after those words, sending her only a polite 'Good night, Princess' and calling for his aid.

So here she sat, staring into her bowl. And that's how Piper found her a few minutes later.

"Hey Blinx, what's up? Did you speak with King Agar?"
Blinx nodded dejectedly, resting her cheek in the palm of a hand and stirring with her spoon using the other.

"So, what did he say?" Piper pressed

"Nothing I really want to recall, honestly" Blinx replied, trying not to sound too rude.

"Have you spoken with Finn at all?" Piper continued, either understanding or pretending to.

"Nope" Blinx replied easily, letting her spoon clatter against the side of the bowl and sitting up to stare at Piper as she dug through a cupboard "And I don't think he would want to know"
Piper turned back to her, her brows raising "That bad, huh?"

"I think even you would be scarred if I told you"

"Then don't tell me" Piper replied quickly.
Blinx gave a small chuckle, then a thought occurred to her. "Hey Piper, avoiding all the awkward messiness involving Finn, do you think you might be able to help me with something?"

"Depends, will I enjoy this 'something'?"

Blinx smirked "More than likely. It's your favourite subject"
