So, I don't specialize in writing cases, but I hope I did okay with this one. Enjoy!
"I'M APOLLO JUSTICE AND I'M FINE!" Apollo yelled.
"I'M TRUCY WRIGHT AND I'M FINE!" Trucy followed.
Phoenix and Iris walked in, Phoenix was covering his ears. "I'm Phoenix Wright, and I'm deaf. Trucy, when did you start doing the cords of steel exercises?" He asked.
"Well, Apollo has been telling me about them for a while, so I decided to try it today." Trucy replied.
"Oh, and? How was it?" Phoenix asked.
Trucy thought for a moment "It actually was pretty satisfying. Nothing like magic, but I can see why he enjoys it."
"I see." Phoenix turned to Apollo. "Are you ready for this case?"
"Yes sir! I'm fine!" Apollo replied.
"Good. Then good luck."
A police officer walked in with Steven.
"The trial will be starting soon, so say what you need to before it starts." With that he stood off to the side.
"So, Steven, how are you feeling?" Apollo asked
"Like death. I was up all night worrying about today." Steven replied.
"O-oh." Apollo didn't know how to respond to that.
Steven let out a sigh. This whole thing was hitting him hard.
"Don't worry, Steven. We'll get through this. I believe in you." Apollo said with a smile.
"Thanks."
"Do you know who the prosecution is going to be?" Trucy asked.
"I think it's someone named Gemma Heart." Apollo replied.
"Oh. Never heard of her." Trucy said.
"The trial is starting. Would the defense take their stand?"
"Y-yes!" Apollo answered. "Trucy, don't you have a magic show?"
"But I-"
"I'll be fine." Apollo said.
"Well, okay then, good luck." Trucy said as she left.
The rest made it into the courtroom.
"Is the prosecution ready?"
A woman who Apollo had never seen before stood right across from him at the prosecution stand.
"Yes your Honor." She said.
"Is the defense ready?"
"Huh, O-oh, yes your honor!" Apollo said.
"Are you all right Mr. Justice?" The Judge asked.
Apollo pulled himself together. "Yes your Honor." He replied.
The Judge nodded. "Very well then. Let us begin the case. Prosecution?"
"Thank you your honor." The woman said. "Recently the accused was in a meeting with the victim about an injury of the victim's son. In order to prevent the lawsuit, the accused killed him in cold blood and took down Mr. Pohl after his repeated shooting."
"OBJECTION! That's assuming that the accused is indeed the one who murdered the victim!" Apollo yelled.
"If that's all you've got Mr. Justice, then you'll need some help in this trial. Besides, isn't that exactly what ALL prosecutors assume?" Gemma said.
"Well, you know what people say about assuming…" Apollo thought.
"If that's all, would the prosecution like to call its first witness to the stand?" The judge asked
"Yes. Would Ema Skye please come to the stand?"
Ema walked out to the stand, snackoos in hand.
"Ms. Skye, I thought I told you to put your snacks away before the trial started."
"You did." Ema responded.
Gemma grimaced. "Very well." She sighed. "Just tell us what happened."
" 'Very well' " Ema said mockingly. "The victim was shot five times. Twice in the legs, once in the shoulder, once in the stomach missing anything vital, and once in the heart which is what killed him. The remaining bullet was used to shoot Mr. Lou Pohl who was a witness to the whole ordeal."
"And there you have it. Defense, any problems?" Gemma asked.
"Problems? Well just one. Why shoot the victim so many times, but only shoot the other victim once?"
"Ms. Skye?" Gemma said grinning.
Ema sighed. "The emotional connection between the victim and the defense probably made his aim a bit off. Also the treacherous behavior, as seen through the defense eyes, done by the victim probably didn't help his emotional state."
"But Mr. Pohl was only shot once."
"True, but even that almost missed the target."
"Oh." Apollo said.
"If that's all Mr. Justice, I'd like to call up my next witness." Gemma said.
The woman from the other day took the stand.
"Hello." She said uninterested.
Gemma cleared her throat. "Would you please introduce yourself witness?"
"Claire DeAir. Waitress."
"Can you please tell us what you saw that night?" Gemma asked.
"Sure." Claire said. "I saw it happen right before my eyes. Outside the boys were doing their talking and I was just silently watching from inside my abode."
"What were you doing watching them?" Apollo asked.
"My good friend Olivia asked me too. You know, the victim's wife? We've been friends since college. She asked me to keep an eye on those three. So I did." She replied.
"SHE ASKED YOU TO SPY ON US?! THAT BI-" Steven yelled.
The judge banged his gavel. "The defense will refrain from finishing that sentence!"
"She was worried that because of the defense's short temper something like this might happen. Good thing she had me watch."
"For how long did you watch them?" Apollo asked.
"Up until the actual murder happened. I didn't know what exactly would happen, and I'm not sick. I went and called the police after I saw his shadow come back."
"Come back? What do you mean?"
"He left and then came back in a rage. He was real fast too. Didn't know he had it in him."
"Did you see his face clearly?"
"Your honor, the defense is grasping at straws." Gemma said.
"Please continue defense." The judge said.
Gemma looked peeved.
"Mostly, there are no lights on that street, but I could see that on his way back he was wearing a mask. It was almost like he was trying to hide his identity." Claire smirked. "Fat load of good that did though."
"Why does she look so happy? Are she and Olivia happy to see Garrett's best friend go to jail or something?" Apollo thought
"What if it wasn't Mr. Patterson though? What if it was someone else?" Apollo proposed.
"Oh, and who else would it be?"
"Well, earlier Mr. Patterson said that the gun was something he found on the street. What if the real killer is the one who left the gun there?"
Gemma laughed. "You are so naïve, you rookie. Why would you believe something as preposterous as that?"
"Simple, because he's my client." Apollo said. "Just humor me though, what if the real killer is the one who left the gun there, and came back only to find that a lawyer was there."
"What are you getting at?" Gemma asked.
"The defense proposes that it wasn't Mr. Patterson who killed Mr. Thorne, but was the lawyer killer who killed Mr. Pohl!" Apollo shouted.
The gallery gasped.
"But that would mean…" Claire started.
"Indeed." Gemma said.
Apollo started to sweat. "W-what? Why aren't you two surprised?"
"Ms. Claire DeAir, care to clear the air?" Gemma said.
"Absolutely. All that would do Mr. Justice would change the motive of Mr. Patterson. And instead of just two murders, he is now responsible for serial murder."
"W-WHAT?!" Both Steven and Apollo shouted.
"Indeed. That is the case. Unless you can find some evidence to prove otherwise." Gemma said.
"I-I've got nothing!" Apollo thought. "Wait…"
"What if the true killer was hiding here while the conversation was going on?"
He pointed to someplace on the map.
"I suppose it's a possibility, although a very unlikely one." Gemma said.
"But it's a possibility!" Apollo said. "I propose we postpone the trial until further investigation is made."
The judge nodded. "Indeed. Serial murder is a serious charge. We'll need to thoroughly investigate the possibility. Court is adjourned."
Apollo stood out in the lobby stressed out. What was he supposed to do now? He didn't much help his client in the court today after all.
"Apollo..." He heard a voice say.
He turned his head and saw Steven standing there, tears in his eyes.
"Uh…"
"How could you do that? Now I'm a serial killer to them!" Steven said crying.
"I'm sorry, I'm just trying to uncover the truth." Apollo said meekly. "Don't worry though. We're going to investigate for the next few days, so I'm sure I'll find something to get you off."
"Please do…" Steven said, falling to the ground.
"Apollo." Another voice called.
Apollo turned and saw Mr. Wright and Iris come his way.
"That could have gone better." Phoenix said.
"I know." Apollo said glumly.
"Don't be so down on yourself. You did your best." Iris said. "Besides, I'm sure the evidence you need will come up during your investigation."
"Thanks for believing in me Iris." Apollo replied. "All right. Now is not the time to be feeling down and sorry for myself. I'm Apollo Justice and I'm fine! I'm going to win this case!"
