Chapter 37-Two Can Play at That Game
A/N I didn't really know what to do with this chapter, so it's more of a boring filler. I'm really sorry for not updating in a while, but I'll try to update more. I've had this written for quite a while, but I don't really like this fic much anymore. Thanks for all the reviews, and I hope you like this chapter. Again, sorry for not updating in a while, it's been hard, to say the least :) x
Ever wondered the unusual stresses of being a preteen tomboy? We are often over-looked, but what goes through our minds is nothing like what you see. My name is Max, and welcome to my world.

It's not like Zack started ignoring me, we just weren't best friends any more. We all kinda hung out in a group, Zack, Cody, Bob, Barbara, Tapeworm and I. It just wasn't the same. But it was all my fault, anyway.
I knew a way to not only get back at Zack, but also make me a friend. Agnes. She seemed alright, I guess. Well, she was weird, but that was why it would annoy Zack even more. She liked him. I didn't particularly like her, but still.
"Hey Agnes," I said, walking up to her in the morning before school.
"Err," Agnes said, confused. "Hi Max,"
"So," I said. Wow, that was awkward.
"Have you seen my Zackie-Poo?" she asked, making me laugh silently.
"No," I said silently. "Since he's been hanging out with Bob I haven't seen him much,"
"Yeah, it's too bad for you," she said, "He and I are kind of like a 'thing'," she said making air quotes.
"I kissed him," I said, blushing and immediately regretting it.
Agnes came right up in my face. "Stay away from my Zackie-Poo,"
"You can have him," I said. Though I still liked him, he was a dick.
"Look, there he is over there." Agnes said, dragging me over as the bell went. "Aw! I guess we'll have to find him at recess," she said, walking off. I was glad of it, though it's not like I could do much.
Tapeworm wasn't at school that day. What hurts most is that I hardly even noticed. We all hung round in a big group, Zack, Cody, Bob, Agnes and I. I don't know where Barbara was. It was cool, a bit. I guess we weren't as bad dweebs as before.

When I got home, L.E. seemed to have been waiting for me. Sandra was with her. I felt so nerves as I walked up to them. Sandra rarely visited.
"Hey," I said, confused.
"Hi Maxina," Sandra said with a smile. "I'd like to talk to you about something. Is it okay if we go up to your room?"
"Yeah, that's fine," I said, wanting to know more and more what this was about. We went up the stairs and into my room. It was pretty tidy to be fair. I sat on my bed and Sandra sat next to me.
"It's about your mom," Sandra explained.
"Oh," I replied, my voice shaking. "What about her?"
Sandra took a deep breath. "She's cleared her hoard. The house has been checked out for safety, she's been checked as well,"
"Okay," I nodded, that funny feeling in my stomach.
"She wants you and your sister back. How do you feel about that?"
I shrugged. "What does Hailee want?"
"I haven't been able to talk to her yet, but we'd like you to first stay with your mom for the weekend. How does that sound?"
I shrugged.
"Just you," she added, "And we'll see how it goes from there."
"Okay," I said, uneasily.
"You're not being forced into anything, Maxina."
"Can I change my surname?" I asked, changing the subject.
"What's wrong with Gellar?"
"I want to be a Brookes again. Like my dad,"
"So, you don't want to live with mom anymore?"
"I do," I argued, "I just want my dad's surname."
"Okay," she nodded, "We'll look into it. For now, would you like to visit your mom?"
"It couldn't hurt," I agreed.
"Good,"
Laura-Stars
"Hey," I said, walking up to Zack, Cody and Bob the next morning by their lockers.
"Hi," Cody said, the other two kept their conversation going.
Okay, maybe things didn't work too well with Agnes, they might. I still could've made Zack jealous with Cody.
"So, Cody," I said with a smile, "How's things at the Tipton?"
"Good actually," he said with a smile, "Nothing crazy's happened recently."
"And that's a good thing?"
Cody shrugged. "I guess. You should come over sometime,"
I nodded, "Yeah, that'd be cool,"
"Are you free tonight?" Cody was actually really eager to be my friend.
"I can't," I said, sadly. "I'm visiting my mom,"
"Really?!"
"Yeah, apparently she's cleaned herself up. Hailee's not allowed to come yet,"
"How come?"
"They're just doing a trial for the weekend I guess,"
"Oh," Cody nodded as the bell went. "See ya," He said, walking off.
I went to my class nervously. I was nervous all day. Even when it came to picking Lili up, I couldn't snap out of it like usual.
"Max, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Oh, nothing," I replied, trying to smile. "I'm just visiting my mom tonight."
"L.E.'s going to be my mom," Lili told me as I nodded.
When I got home, Sandra was waiting again. Lili ran inside, as Sandra smiled at me.
"Should we go then, Max?" she asked as we walked outside. To see the dangerous woman who'd given me scars.
My name is Max, and welcome to my world. I can't believe I have to see my mom.
A/N So...What do you think? Again, I'm not wild about this idea, but tell me what you think. I'm happy to continue if that's what people want, but I don't know if it's good/is getting a bit old. Talk to you later,
Laura x :) xx
