Sorry for the wait

"Aww, gross!" exclaimed Bobby, walking through a cluster of cobwebs. Their feet splashed through the murky waters of the dimly lit edifice.

"Well, it is the dungeon," snapped Rogue.

Suddenly Illyana put up her hand for them to stop. They had come to a crossroads of a sort, a circular hallway with torches mounted on the stone walls and a wooden door on the back wall. Winged guards stood at the ready.

"How convenient," sighed Kitty.

Without another word Illyana shoved her sword into Kurt's three fingered hands. Before he could open his mouth to ask why exactly she was giving this to him she charged at the first guard, taking it by surprise and stabbing her dagger through its folded stomach. Kurt had a feeling she would say that.

He sighed, "Why me?" The next attack wasn't as fortunate. The rest had seen their attackers coming and this time took the initiative to take the battle to Kurt.

His heart pounded out of chest as he narrowly ducked the spiked mace. He quickly parried the next blow with the curved sword, knocking the weapon out of the thing's clawed hands. He swung the sword, hoping he would hit something. When he opened his half-closed eyes he saw that he had severed off the thing's arm. "Sorry," he apologized before he spun around to take on any more of them. His mouth gaped open when he saw that Illyana had already taken care of all the others, taking her sword back and sticking it neatly into her sheathe.

"That was easy!" said Bobby, watching Illyana slice through the door's chains.

Kurt huffed, "Easy for you to say."

The staircase spiraled round and round the stone beam at the center, leading them to an identical door at the top. Illyana gently pushed the door in a bit, taking a glance around the room before opening it up the whole way.

The room seemed to be clear. "There it is!" said Scott, excitedly, pointing to the portal like the one he had seen that took them to Limbo.

"What are we waitin' for?" asked Rogue, about to step through the door. Again, Illyana held out her hand.

"Get down!"

Kitty fell to the floor, feeling the wind of an arrow slightly above her ponytail. Bobby cursed and she could tell that no one else was all too happy.

Illyana shut her eyes as she heard a guttural growl.

"Vhat is it?" asked Kurt nervously.

Illyana was silent, knowing that saying its name would make the situation all too real. Scott ducked his head through the door, trying to see what exactly was keeping them form their ticket out of this literal hell hole. Illyana saw his horrified face.

"N'astirh."

"Where?" asked Bobby, pretending to be confident and barely shaken, yet his voice cracked a bit ruining the desired effect.

"In front of the portal," said Scott.

They all hit the ground upon hearing the splintering of wood and the door being torn off of its hinges. The guttural voice of the demon king ripped through their ears, "Where is it!"

"Let's move!" shouted Scott, diving behind another stone wall with the rest of the team following.

"Was that?" yelled Bobby.

"Yup."

Illyana quickly glanced beyond the wall, seeing the demon king still fixed on the door. She slowly reached for her dagger, being careful not to make a false grab and make more unnecessary noise. With a well-practiced flick of her wrist she flung the small dagger in his direction, sticking it in the center of his back.

N'astirh growled and spun around.

Illyana cursed. She had meant to hit him in the neck. There was no room for error. The massive hand swiped through the wall, barely missing their heads.

She took off her cloak, placing it in Kitty's arms, "Go!"

Kitty's eyes widened at the gesture, "Aren't you coming?"

"I must stay," Illyana yelled back to her, blocking the beast's fist with a force field, "Go! Now!"

The walls of the tower began to crumble as N'astirh's attacks shook the foundation. Rogue grabbed Kitty's arm, yanking her towards the portal while the demon was distracted, "We need to go now!"

Kitty could see the massive shadow looming over Illyana.

"Now!" shouted Scott as Rogue dragged her through to the other side.

Kitty gasped as she landed with a thump back in the room they had started out in. Scott had his glasses back on and Rogue had her gloves. She was relieved to see that their powers were back.

"Do we have the Soulsword?" asked Scott.

"Uh, yeah," said Kitty hurriedly, unwrapping the cloak. The portal began to shrink with every second they waited. Kitty narrowed her eyes at the sword, grasping its smooth handle. Without spending another second holding that vile thing she flung it back through the portal into the hellfire it was forged with.

"Jean!" Scott suddenly said, running over to the shattered window, his heart heavy with grief. He hadn't had much time to think back there, but now all the pain rushed back to him. His eyes searched until they lay upon the body. He could see it only faintly, like a miniature way down below, but nonetheless he saw it. She was gone. There was nothing he could do to save her.
