Sanshouo No Naruto

chapter 36

penultimate preliminaries

Yota coughed up blood as he fell against the wall next to Shino "Damn it" he muttered the Tenko didn't even have the energy to talk at a normal volume as he glared at the Oto shinobi

"winner of the fight Dosu Kinuta" Fugaku said

Yota groaned his vision fading as he fell into the domain of morpheus before the medics arrived

"I can't believe Yota lost" Naruto said but saw the entire fight Dosu had been both brilliant and brutal as he decimated the two Konoha comrades where Shino was smart he was smarter where Yota was strong he was stronger it reminded him of the one useful piece of wisdom the snake orochimaru told him

'No matter who you are where you come from or how long you've done it there will always be someone stronger'

"Well Naruto" Shinji said "looks like the banner of team 11 lies soely in your hands" Naruto nodded he'd make chunin and show the world what Team 11 was made of

"the next match" Fugaku called "Sakura Haruno Vs. Leiko"

Naruto could feel how nervous Sakura was feeling so he walked over to her putting a hand on her shoulder he smiled "you'll do fine Sakura" Sakura smiled and walked down Leiko standing across from her

"Don't take it personally if you die" Leiko said drawing his tomahawk

Sakura gulped "only if you don't"

Fugaku cleared his throat "begin the match"

"I'll end this quickly" Leiko said tossing his tomahawk into the air he made two hand signs catching it in his mouth the ceiling is covered by dark storm clouds which begin to unleash a downpour of rain

"The rain dance jutsu but only Yota has that kekkei genkai" Sakura said "are you a Sorakami"

Sakura didn't get an answer instead she got a large cut across her chest Leiko appearing behind her his tomahawk painted crimson "Usagi Daiabare" Leiko turned on the balls of his feet and swung at her head "Tora Giri" he called beheading Sakura with one swing only instead of blood wood flew through the air as he cut a log in two

before Leiko could react he was hit with a devastating haymaker courtesy of Konoha's only pink haired kunoichi followed by an uppercut to the jaw that sent him flying into the air

Leiko recovered and saved himself by throwing his tomahawk towards the ground and replacing himself with it "your teammate the Uchiha did the same thing in his match" Leiko unsealed some smoke bombs from a seal on his wrist "but this plan is all mine" throwing the smoke bombs to the floor filling the arena with rain and smoke

Leiko leapt at Sakura in the smoke "one more time now Tora Giri" Sakura grabbing Leiko by his extended arm and threw him back first to the ground "How he asked"

Sakura smiled "both my teammate and my sensei have a sharingan I know how to fight without my eyes" Sakura said with a smile as the rain stopped and the smoke cleared

"Winner Sakura Haruno" Fugaku declared Sakura smiled and walked up to Tobio and her team

"the next match Tobio Vs Naruto Namikaze" Fugaku called

"I forefeit" Tobio said "I'm not strong enough to take on Naruto yet" he said sheepishly

"Winner Naruto Namikaze" the board seconds after it turned off came alive again and spun through the remaining names

Akatsuchi Vs. Temari

the suna and iwa genin came down both ready for a fight "You may begin when ready"

Akatsuchi leapt back and made hand signs before slamming his hands against the floor "Doton moving earth core" he called pieces of tile rose and fell until the arena was transformed

"Now your Futon will be less effective while my doton wil be more so" Akatsuchi said making two golems rise at Temari the Suna girl flipped back dodging their earthy fists before retailiating with a paper bomb

"this is pretty good I admit but the end is inevitable you will lose" Temari stated Akatsuchi chuckled "I'm not one to believe in fate"

now temari smirked "who said anything about fate she said before vanishing in a shunshin

"the shunshin where is she" leapt up to the highest level of the arena and searched the skies but found no sign of Temari the floor beneath him began to rumble and shake "it can't be" he said before a tornado broke through the ground and sent Akatsuchi flying so high his nose brushed against the ceiling before he fell atop Temari's fan

"Didn't expect the Iwagakure no jutsu from a wind user that was your fatal mistake" Temari knocked off her fan and towards the ground a fall from their current height would kill him unless he was saved by one Rock Lee

"There is no honor in killing a fallen opponent Suna san" he stated placing Akatsuchi on the ground "that's where your wrong the only good enemy is a dead one"

Lee growled and clenched his fist "to kill in the heat of battle is one thing but end the life of one who cannot fight back" Lee's leg snapped in an arc very few genin could see

"be wary Temari of Suna and pray to whomever that we do not meet in the finals" the pillar he had kicked then split in two the top piece shattering from the power behind it

after the three genin were ejected from the arena and back to the balcony or in Akatsuchi's case the infirmary the board came alive once again stopping on two names and one of them scared Naruto greatly not for himself but for someone he was close to

Yui Vs. Gaara

this is cruel I know but it's a good place to end the chapter and stay tune for chapter 37
