Midnight

Flora had on a pink nightgown and fast asleep on her bed. Helia was asleep next to her wearing a grey sweat pants with a white shirt. His arms were wrapped around Flora's waist, while her head was rested on Helia's chest.

Moments later her phone rang. Opening her eyes, she saw the light coming from the phone. The room was completely dark to her so the brunette carefully tried to make her way over to the device.

After tripping over a chair and managing to retain her balance Flora turned on the lamp before getting the phone to see Musa's number on the screen.

Answering it, she saw Riven and Musa at the other end of the screen. Musa had on a white wedding dress white Riven wore a purple and white tux.

Riven waved. "Hi Flora."

"Hi Riven and Musa. Where are you?" Flora checked the time on the phone to see it was a little after midnight.

"We are at Melody right now. It's where Musa was born before migrating to Magix then Domino." Riven informed the brunette.

"What time is it over there?" Flora saw that it was night time over there also.

"It's after eight now." Musa answered, clearly happy. "Too bad you, Helia, Stella and Aisha could be here for the wedding. It wasn't the same without you guys."

"I just happy you two are married. Both of you look amazing." Flora smiled, carefully moving over to an open window.

"The wedding ceremony is over and the reception is going on now." Musa informed her. "We missed you and decided to give you a call."

Flora was very happy for them. "I miss you two. Go and enjoy the reception and send me lots of pictures."

"Okay." Musa and Riven chimed before ending the call.

Once the call ended Flora saw her wallpaper picture of Helia. Shifting her attention away from the phone, she looked through the window.

A few seconds later Helia wrapped his arms around Flora's waist. Turning her head, she saw that it was Helia.

Helia said sweetly to her. "It was great that Riven was able to find happiness."

"Did I wake you?" Flora asked as he kissed her cheek.

"You didn't. The phone did but I couldn't go back to sleep knowing that you fell over the chair." Helia answered. "I am sorry. When I was going to bed last night I forgot to turn on the lamp for you."

"It's okay. It's like life. You have to fall sometimes to achieve happiness." Flora reassured him.

"Do you know that having you is the best thing on Earth?" Helia whispered sweetly to her.

Flora thought as he began kissing her shoulders, neck and cheeks. 'Actually I thought I was the furthest thing from happiness. Now I realize that as long as you have love in your heart, happiness is everywhere.'

The blue hair male moved up to kiss his wife's lips.

Both didn't mind the morning breathe as the kiss became more passionate.

The Next Day

Flora had on her nurse dress with white shoes and pink jacket. Her hair was placed in a high pony as usually to avoid it getting in her face.

Walking into the nurse's station she saw two nurses. They were Roxy and Selina. Both of them had masks over their mouths and had on the same uniform as the brunette.

They were checking off the stocks they had in the station.

"What's going on? The hospital is under staff today." Flora stated.

"They called in sick today. The flu is going around and a number of the hospital staff caught it." Selina answered, taking out a mask from cabinet. "It's best if you put this on. "

Taking it, Flora said. "Thanks. The flu is knocking out a lot of people. Are we the only nurses left in the Trauma Unit?"

Roxy nodded. "I heard in intensive care most of the doctors called in sick today. It is a lot worse than we thought."

Selina warned her. "I must warn you It looks like Roxy and I are next."

Galatea entered the room, wearing the same uniform as the others and had a mask around her mouth. "Selina, Paediatrics needs help. The head nurse over there asked if there is any nurse over here that can be spared."

Selina indicated to Flora. "Flora looks the healthiest of us all. Over there is like a battle field already and only the fittest manage."

Galatea looked at the female and asked. "Flo, can you do it?"

"Sure." Flora answered, putting down her mask.

As soon as Flora reached over to Paediatrics parents were rushing their sick children over to her. Lucky Helia was sent over to assist.

The Next Day

Wearing the same uniform from yesterday with a light blue sweater, Flora was still tired from the amount of work she did yesterday. After she and Helia clocked out and went him, they saw that Jason, Saladin, Codatorta and Nebula were sick. Despite being tired already they took care of the family.

Finishing up her lunch break, the brunette was about to head to the same department she was in yesterday when Roxy saw her.

Roxy, who had on the same uniform the tan skin female had on came over to her and said. "Flora, Dr Amore and Dr Nex want to see you. They said it's important."

Flora thanked her before going to Dr Amore first.

Reaching the female's office she knocked on the door.

She heard a soft voice call out. "Come in."

Flora entered the room to see a female with long red hair, pale skin and red eyes sitting down. She wore a red and pink dress with red flat shoes and a white coat. She and Flora were the same height.

"Hello Dr." Flora entered before closing the door.

"Flora, have a seat." Amore indicated to a brown chair across from her.

Sitting down, the brunette asked. "What's the news Amore? Am I pregnant or not?"

"You can check it out for yourself." Amore handed Flora a brown folder so she could see for herself.

Flora took it and opened the folder. Checking the results Flora saw that she was really pregnant. She smiled, seeing that.

"Congratulations. You and Helia will soon become parents." Amore chimed.

"How far along am I?" Flora wondered, wanting to prepare herself and the family for the when the baby is coming.

"A month by what the results say." Amore answered.

Flora thought back and realized that she got pregnant when she and Helia made love in his office for the first time.

"Thanks Amore. I am going to find Helia and tell him the good news." Flora got up.

Saying their byes, the brunette left the room.

Instead of going to Helia first, Flora went to see Dr Nex. Reaching his office, she knocked on the eye specialist door. Hearing someone say come in, she entered to see doctor. He had purplish colour hair with pale skin, dark brown eyes and wore a white coat with a purple shirt, brown pants and black shoes.

He was sitting alone in his office, looking over a patient's profile.

Hearing the door close he looked up and said. "Hello Flora. Your test result was ready from last week. Aren't you concerned about your health?"

"I am sorry doctor." Flora said as she sat down beside the male. "I have been very busy lately that I forgot."

"Don't be sorry. It's only your eyes." Nex replied, taking out Flora's folder. Opening it, he added. "You have to take care of them well."

"I know. I have notice that my vision at night have been getting worse." Flora stated. "Have you found out the reason for it?"

"Basically you have night blindness and have a hard time seeing things in the dark or under a dimly lit area." Nex started out, showing Flora the folder. "Based on the current reports your eye sight is getting worst. Some of your retina cell rods and cones have begun to deteriorate. What you have is a hereditary disorder. Right now there is no cure for it. The worst case is that you could go blind. Do you and Dr Knightly plan on having any children?"

"Yes, we are planning on having children." Flora tired to let it all the recent information soak in.

"Don't feel bad." Nex placed a hand on her right shoulder. "The possibility of your children as well as their children and future generation getting it is very high. In the future there might be a cure for it."

"So I wouldn't be able to see?" Flora was slowly wrapping her mind around that reality.

"You might not be able to see." Dr Nex gave her some hope.

After she and Nex finished talking, Flora left to work.

Five Hours Later

Flora was resting against the wall of the waiting area as the parents and their children began leaving the hospital.

There were very little parents with their children in the ward right now so Flora had time to breath.

Moments later she saw Helia enter the waiting area wearing a white coat with blue and white shirt, blue jeans and white and blue shoes.

This was the first time she has seen him since finding out the results. Her heart still beats faster at the sight or thought of her husband.

She saw him talking to a mother and her sick five year old son. She overheard him giving the mother some medical advice to take care of the boy's coughing.

After Helia finished talking to her, he noticed Flora against the wall. He smiled before going over to her.

"Are you done?" She asked, wondering how to tell him the news.

"Almost. Are you finish working or just tired." Helia responded, using one hand to cuff her right cheek.

"Not yet." Flora replied, looking at the little boy that was coughing. "The way how the mothers protect their children is admirable."

"When you become a mother I am sure you will be the same." Helia told her.

About to reply, Flora suddenly felt weak and fainted. Helia reacted quickly and caught her before the brunette reach the ground.

Flora opened her eyes to see that she was in her and Helia's bedroom. Slowly sitting up, she saw Helia sitting up on the bed beside her with Nebula, Jason, Saladin and Cordatorta kneeling beside the bed.

Nebula wore a light pink shirt with blue jeans. Jason had on a blue shirt with black shorts. Helia had on the same clothes from this earlier minus the coat and shoes. Saladin had on a white and yellow shirt with white shorts while Codatorta had on a blue shirt with white pants.

Nebula sighed in relief when Flora sat up. "I am so happy you are awake."

"Wasn't I at the hospital?" Flora felt her head hurting her.

"You fainted." Helia answered, worried about her.

"It was our fault." Nebula said. "All of us were sick and we passed the flu onto you."

"Don't worry Mom. It isn't the flu. I was overworking myself and with the preg…" Flora stopped when she realized that she was about to mention the pregnancy.

Helia picked up on something. "Flora, are you pregnant?"

Everyone else's eyes expect Helia and Flora widen.

The brunette confessed. "Yes, I am one month pregnant. I got confirmation this afternoon from the gynaecologist."

"YESSSSS!" Nebula cheered, jumping up and down.

Saladin and Codatorta joined her in celebrating the news.

Jason rolled his eyes before telling Flora and Helia. "Let's hope the kid inherits most of Helia's gene."

Feeling something insulting coming up next she slapped him on the back of the head. "Don't say anything else."

"Rude." Jason rubbed the back of his head.

Helia hugged her. In eight months time they were going to be first time parents.

Flora hugged him back, wondering how she was going to tell him that the other news. How was she going to tell him that their child could be blind in the future thanks to her genes?

Two Days Later

Saturday was one of the few days Flora and Helia had a day off at the same time. Helia who had on a white shirt with blue shorts awoke to two alarms ringing off.

Extending one of his hands over, he shut off the alarms before turning around to ask Flora something. Seeing the bed empty he sat up and called out. "Flora?"

Sensing that something was wrong he got up and looked around the room to find that she wasn't there.

Finding his cellphone, Helia tried to call Flora but got no answer. Calling three more times and no answer, Helia knew something was wrong.

Helia didn't shower. Instead he changed into a blue shirt with black jeans and black and white sneakers.

After looking around the house, he found no Flora.

After telling the family the bad feeling he had, Helia left the house and went to the hospital.

Reaching the hospital he went to the hospital nurse's station for the Trauma Unit Helia saw Roxy getting ready to check on one of her patients. Stopping her, he asked. "Have you seen Flora?"

"No, I haven't." Roxy answered. "She did have to see Dr Amore and Dr Nex a while back."

"Thanks." Helia said going to see Nex.

He knew Amore was the gynecologist Flora went to see about the pregnancy test but he didn't know why Flora would see Nex, an eye specialist.

Reaching Nex's office, he knocked on the door before entering. Nex told Helia the same thing he told Flora.

Once Helia found out about Flora's eyes, he understood why she was feeling so sad lately.

Leaving the hospital ground, Helia called Nebula.

After a few rings she picked up. "Did you find Flora?"

"No, I did not but I found out why she left." He answered. "She might be blind in the future thanks to a genetic disorder."

"Oh no." Nebula felt sad. "Hurry up and find her Helia. I don't know how we are going to manage without our sweet Flora."

Helia went on to search the high school where they first met before going to the pier where they had their officially wedding ceremony and date.

Becoming frustrated Helia decided to check one more place before going home.

As evening came around Flora was sitting in the park where she and Helia took pictures on their first date. She had on a white blouse with pink jeans shorts and matching flat shoes.

Looking at the sun that was about to set, she thought. 'I might not see this again. I might not see Helia's face again. The baby I am carrying might inherit it also. It pains me that I have been a burden to so many people especially to one that hasn't even been born as yet.'

As tears started to flow from her eyes Flora heard footsteps. She looked to see Helia standing a few metres away from her.

"Helia…" She called out, wiping her tears and getting up.

It didn't help as more tears came out. Helia moved over to her without saying a word and hugged Flora's waist.

He let her cry. "It's okay, my Flower."

"I am scared, Helia." She admitted.

Helia softly said. "Don't leave me. I will take care of everything."

"I am so scared." Flora continued to cry.

"Don't be scared." He reassured her.

"You should be with someone who is better. Be with someone who isn't such a pain in the ass a lot of the times to you." Flora said.

"Where do I find someone who is more compatible for me than you?" Helia loved her too much too leave. "Where do I find someone who makes up for my short comings?"

"Our children might be blind at one point in their life because of me." Flora rested her head onto his left shoulder.

Using his hands to cuff the brunette's face, Helia said. "I believe every life has a path in life. I am not that fragile. I love everything about you good or bad, beautiful or ugly, sad or happy as long as it is from you. Please believe me. I will accompany you through any hardship. Please don't try to leave me again. I will get scared. I am scared of any day without you."

"I am scared too. I want to have as many children as possible for you so that way our love can live on physically in this world." Flora said as Helia kissed away her tears.

"I love you, my Flower." Helia said after kissing away the tears.

"I love you too, Hels." Flora replied before they shared a kiss.

After the kiss the married couple went home. Flora got scolded for not telling everyone about the possibility of her going blind and for leaving the house without saying a word to anyone. All of them promised to be her eyes when it gets dark and if she becomes blind.

Flora promised to never again feel like she is a bother to the family.

Eight Months Later

Flora was lying on a hospital bed at the Red Fountain Hospital. She had on a white hospital gown.

In her hand was a baby girl with short blue hair, Helia's complexion and blue eyes. She was wrapped in a pink towel with a pink hospital band on her right hand.

Helia was sitting beside the bed wearing blue hospital scrubs. The male was wearing that because he was in the delivery room while Flora was giving birth.

Jason was sitting on the other side of the bed wearing a blue shirt with black jeans and matching shoes.

Nebula was standing in front of Flora wearing a blue dress and black shoes. She was taking pictures of her first grandchild. Saladin and Codatorta were standing at the edge of the bed, looking at their granddaughter.

Codatorta mentioned, seeing Flora handing the baby over to Helia. "She looks so much like Helia."

"That's a good thing. Let's hope she has Helia's IQ also." Jason remarked, folding his arms.

"You are lucky I am too weak to hit you." Flora knew he was joking around.

Jason smiled. "You didn't let me finish. I am hoping she has the same IQ as Helia's and has some of your personality."

"I can't wait for the day you and Miele become parents." Nebula commented, still taking pictures of the baby.

"Mother we are still dating and in high school. Don't jump the gun on us getting us having children as yet." Jason blushed.

"Oh you're blushing." Flora pointed out, smirking at the male.

"Go and focus on your baby." Jason turned his head away from his sister in law.

Saladin asked. "What are you two going to name her? We can't continue calling her 'the baby'."

Flora looked at Helia and indicated that he should tell them.

Slowly rocking his daughter, Helia looked at everyone and said. "Flora and I agreed to Macy Rose Knightly."

Selina entered the room to attend to Flora's and Helia's baby. She was assigned to be the brunette's nurse.

Nebula saw her and indicated to Selina to come over to her.

Handing the dark blonde the camera, Nebula said to her. "Can you take a picture of the family?"

"Of course." Selina took the camera.

Helia stood up and handed Macy to Flora so she could be in the centre. He and Jason stood at the sides of the bed. Saladin stood in front of Helia since he was shorter while Codatorta stood beside Jason. Nebula stood in front of her younger son.

All of them looked at the camera.

"Everyone say cheese." Selina said, ready to take the picture.

"Cheese." The Knightly and Linepha clan said with a smile.

The camera flashed as Selina took several pictures.

Flora glanced down at Macy and thought. 'You are going to be the most loved person in the world. Not only do you have mommy and daddy to spoil you with love but you also have grandma, your two grandpas, Uncle Jason and your godmothers Aisha and Stella.'

This is the end. Left things off like this just in case anyone wants to do a squeal. Pretty sure there are a few errors so will fix at some point in time. Anyway this is my birthday gift to me.
