Holly read the text from her snarky blonde girlfriend. A text this late meant that booze was involved.

Nerd: Why is that?

Sassy Pants: One guy told me that he's better than sex with a woman because he's the real deal

Gross, Holly thought as she rolled her eyes.

Nerd: Ewww! What did you say?

Sassy Pants: That there was nothing about sex with a woman that wasn't real. And that I preferred imitation crab anyway.

Holly laughed. Being away from Gail was tough but they were getting through it. They were looking forward to next year, when they would both be at the same university.

Sassy Pants: Another boy asked me point blank if I would sleep with him because "that would be so hot"

Holly could hear her girlfriend using a mocking voice when she read the message.

Nerd: Sounds like you're having fun then.

Sassy Pants: No, I'm not. The music is bad, the girls are all gossiping about how cute the boys are, and the guys are having chugging contests

Sassy Pants: Why aren't you here? If you were here I could hold your hand. I could sit on your lap and we could laugh at little jokes, and maybe we'd sneak into the bathroom after I'd gotten you all nice and liquored up ;)

Holly's heartrate increased. Gail was never forward with her feelings and it made the brunette feel warm inside, even if Gail was drunk.

Nerd: You don't have to get me liquored up to sneak into the bathroom with me

Sassy Pants: I know. It's just that I really miss you

Nerd: I miss you too, babe. I'm coming home this weekend so we'll 48 hours together uninterrupted

Sassy Pants: Holly?

Nerd: Gail?

Sassy Pants: I lurv you

Holly's breath caught in her chest. She had wanted to say it for a while now, but knew that she needed to let Gail say it first. And here it was, intentionally misspelled in a drunken text, late on a Thursday night. How very Gail. Holly thought it was perfect.

Nerd: I lurv you too, Gail
