Band Man

A Band Parody By Artemis J. Halk

Based off of the song: "Piano Man" by Billy Joel

Its six o'clock on a Tuesday

The regular crowd shuffles in

There's an old vet sitting next to me

Makin' love to his reed and keys

He says, son, can you play me a show tune?

I'm not really sure how it goes

But its bad and its fast and I knew it complete

When I wore a younger nerds uniform

La la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da

Chorus:

Play us a song, you're the band man

Play us a song tonight

Well, were all in the mood for a melody

And you've got us feelin' alright

Now Chris in the office is a friend of mine

He gets me my scores for free

And he's quick with a joke or to light up your day

But there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says, Will, I believe this is killing me.

As the smile ran away from his face

Well I'm sure that I could be a band star

If I could get out of this place

Oh, la la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da

Now Ron is a real band director

Who never had time for a wife

And he's talkin with Davy who's still not in band

And probably will be for life

And the drum major is practicing salutes

As the drum line slowly get stoned

Yes, they're sharing a song they call loneliness

But its better than playing alone

Chorus

Its a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday

And the director gives me a smile

'Cause he knows that its me they've been comin to see

To forget about life for a while

And the band, it sounds like a carnival

And the metronome sounds like crap

And they sit in their seats and put music in the air

And say, man, what are you doin here?

Oh, la la la, de de da

La la, de de da da da

Chorus

Tomorrow marks the first day of my last band trip in high school. (Sob.) I'm going to Sea World!! :D

My internet/computer has been acting up lately, so don't fret if I don't update as frequently as I normally do... blame it on my crap-shoot computer. (Shifty eyes.)
