Jenny

Jenny googled. And googled. After realising they were all alright, Nikki would wake up, Crowley was back to his old tricks, they were all alive, Jenny googled. And it was all rather too much. Chaos, Night, Darkness, she googled. Chaos, Nyx, Erebus, she found.

Chaos; the gap created by the first separation of heaven and earth. Nyx, Erebus, descendants of Chaos.

Nyx and Erebus. Night and Darkness.

Descendant of Chaos, Night and Darkness, Raphael had said. It couldn't be true. She couldn't be..

Jenny googled. And it was all rather too much. Because her name. Her name, Thalassian.. No.. Thalassa, goddess of the sea, granddaughter of Night and Darkness. Great granddaughter of Chaos. No.. It couldn't be.. She couldn't be..

You do not even know, do you? Descendant of Chaos and Night. Of..Darkness.

It was all rather too much.

"It's true, love." Crowley 's voice was so soft, too soft. She couldn't even look at him, didn't want to see the softness reflected in his expression as well. "But, it's not all bad, dearest. Do you know whom, or perhaps what, Thalassa descended from?"

Yes. She knew. Aether, Hemera. Brightness and Day. Jenny put her head in her hands. "I think I would like to wake up now."

"It doesn't make sense.. Or, perhaps it does, and that is what freaks me out." Oh, great. She was talking to herself now. Crowley had left, would be back in a little while, and Jenny didn't feel like going downstairs. Not yet. She had to try to process some of this..craziness first. Or, perhaps tear out some of her hair. Yes, that seemed likely, considering how she was clutching her head while pacing.

Jenny sighed deeply and closed her eyes.

Someone gasped. Nikki? Jenny opened her eyes to find herself..well, not in the attic. And Nikki was here as well. A restaurant? An empty restaurant.

"I apologise for the intrusion. But it was time."

Jenny spun around, just to stand there, completely frozen on spot.

"Perhaps you would care to join me?"

Nikki spoke, her voice barely a whisper. "You are..him."

The man gazed calmly at Nikki. "Yes."

Jenny finally found her voice, if only just barely. "Death."

The man nodded. "The Grim Reaper, The Pale Horseman, Angel of Death, whatever you wish to call me. Yes, I am him. Now, there is a reason why I have brought you here. Perhaps you would sit down? The sweet potato fries are rather marvellous."

-o-

Jenny had no idea if the sweet potato fries was rather marvellous or not, because they tasted nothing. She slowly chewed it, trying to wrap her mind around what was happening. "Excuse me, sir, but where are we?"

Death put down his fork and folded his hands on the table. "The Lakeview restaurant, Toronto, Canada. They have the best sweet potato fries."

Jenny just nodded. "Alright. And..why are we here?"

"That is rather the question, is it not? You are here, because it is time you learn who you are." The plate in front of him was suddenly gone, and Death leaned his arms on the table, folding his hands. "You, Nikki Ianuarias, have not only the blood of Michael, the first Archangel, running through your veins."

Jenny noticed Nikki's hands curl to fists. "Then..what?"

Death gazed at her. "You have the blood of Zeus as well." Nikki gasped, but Death held up a hand to silence her. "More specifically, it is the blood of Apollo, the God of healing, light and the sun, truth and prophecy, that runs through your veins." Death gazed into empty air as he continued. "Apollo loved one woman. A Celtic Goddess of healing." He looked back at Nikki. "Her name was Ianuaria. And it is from her you have your name." He folded his hands on the table again. "You, Nikki Ianuarias, have the blood of two Gods of healing, and the Grace of Michael, the first Archangel. You have not even begun to realise the extent of your powers."

Nikki opened her mouth to speak, but closed it again. Death turned to Jenny. "And you, Jenny Thalassian, with the name of Thalassa, Goddess of the Sea, have the blood of Night and Darkness. But also Day and Brightness." Jenny just stared at him, so he continued. "You are both descendants of great Gods. And none of you have yet discovered the real power that lies within you." He paused for a moment before continuing. "It was I who opened the window between the worlds. Because I was supposed to do so. Why, I have yet to learn. But there is a purpose. You have a purpose. You were always meant to be here."

Death got up and looked at them, his back straight and one hand on his cane. "I will send you back now. I have elsewhere to be." Jenny expected to be zapped back to her attic, but then he looked at them intently. "You must stay together. You are linked. Whatever is coming, you must face together. Remember this." He pointed at Nikki. "You are light." Turning to Jenny, he continued. "You are darkness." When her eyes widened, he shook his head. "Darkness does not mean evil. Do not fret. And remember, you descend from Day and Brightness as well. But to make the explanation easier, you are darkness, and she is light. Yin and Yang, if you will. Now. Go."

The world flashed, and she was back in her attic.

And she was holding something, in her hand.

She was holding a scythe.

The scythe of Death.
