Dean pulled the car up outside the Van Ness house and got out, going round the back with Sam to load up on weapons.
"We combed the crap out of this place, if Annie's in there and we didn't find her…" He said his voice trailing off as Sam finished the sentence for him.
"It's because something didn't want us to."
"Awesome then let's just walk right into that." Dean replied making his way to the front of the house. He knew Gabriel was at his side but he was glad that the angel had kept quiet on his theory as to why they didn't find Annie before. Dean was well aware that Gabriel thought she was dead.
Once they entered the house Sam turned to his brother and said "alright I'll check up stairs."
Once he had left Gabriel turned to Dean and spoke into his mind. "You know you're not going to find her right?"
"Shut up Gabriel. I'm not interested in hearing what you have to say. Bobby said she was here so she is here." Dean replied with a growl at the archangel while he called Annie's name out loud.
"Yeah she may be here but that doesn't mean you'll find her." Gabriel replied not mentioning that fact that she would most likely be dead. And while the angel and Dean had their silent conversation bobby stole his flask from Dean's pocket and hid it in the house so he could stay there and solve the case.
Dean ignored Gabriel and continued calling for Annie when a camera slid across the floor to him.
"That's not ours." Dean muttered bending to pick it up before yelling for his brother. "Sam get back down here." Then turning to talk to the air around him. "Annie. Slimer?" before adding to Gabriel "can you sense her?"
"No. but I sense someone." Came Gabriel's reply as he went on alert. He wouldn't let anyone hurt the Winchesters. He needed them too much.
Sam came back downstairs to his brother and turned to him to ask "what?"
"Check it out." Dean replied holding the camera and pressing play. A young male voice was heard speaking as the camera panned around the room. "Uh I hate these indie films nothing ever happens." Dean said as they watched. Then the image went fuzzy before continuing on again.
"Wait, wait pause it. Frame back a little bit. Stop." Sam said seeing the fuzzy picture. Once Dean got to the right frame all three of them saw the image of Annie on the camera.
"She's here and not in a good way." Dean said as Gabriel spoke "sorry Dean." He said, not being able to think of anything else to say to the hunter.
"Annie." Dean and Sam started calling, trying to find their friend while Gabriel stood there trying his hardest to feel if anyone was around. He could feel many ghosts in the house, he couldn't single anyone out. But he knew that something bad was here. He felt the fear of the ghosts, and that worried him. What in dads name could scare a ghost?
Suddenly out of nowhere a woman appeared in front of Sam and Dean.
"Wow." Sam involuntarily shouts as they raise their guns at her.
"Please I'm Victoria, Victoria Dodd." The woman said raising her hands in placating manor.
"Where did you come from?" Sam asked still not lowering his gun.
"Here. I was a fancy lady." Victoria replied.
"A hooker?" Dean asked which caused Victoria to become offended and Sam to turn and look at his brother as if to say 'really?' while Gabriel spoke in his head.
"Way to go Dean-o. Piss off the one ghost here who is willing to help you and that you can see. Gold star." He said sarcastically.
"Shut up Gabe." Was Dean only response to him before he turned his attention back to the ghost in front of them.
"Uh is Annie here?" Sam asked changing the subject from Deans stupidity.
"Yes. You can't see her" she said as the boys started looking round for her. Then continued when they started looking downwards. "No you're not standing on her."
"You want to just tell them?" Annie asked from her place next to Victoria as she watched Sam and Dean looking round for her.
"I will in my day we believed in polite conversation." Victoria said to the woman next to her causing Sam and Dean to frown before she turned back to the brothers. "Annie's in terrible danger, we all are."
"From?" Sam asked hoping that Victoria could confirm whose bones they needed to burn.
"Whitman Van Ness." Victoria replied making Sam and Dean's eyebrows to raise. They had thought it was Dexter O'Connell. Gabriel was standing there listening when he felt that they were being watched. He turned to look at the banisters, he couldn't see anything but he could sense a ghost watching them and this one was defiantly not friendly.
"I think you need to hurry this up Dean-o, we've got company." He said to the hunter next to him in his head.
This caused Dean to get back on track with the conversation with Victoria. "But he's dead?" he asked her, wanting to clarify the situation. Gabriel just rolled his eyes at him of course he was dead.
"I thought you said they were good." Victoria said turning to her side which irritated Dean. They needed info.
"Yeah just processing lady. Your dead, he's dead, define terrible danger." Dean snapped at her.
"Whitman has great power over all of us in the house. He killed Annie. She says you can free us. Please you must-" but before Victoria could finish her sentence she went up in flames as her body burned.
Once she was gone Sam, and Dean look around for her. What the hell had just happened?
"Victoria?" Sam spoke trying to get her back.
"Yeah, she gone bye-byes." Gabriel muttered into Deans head as he turned to his brother.
"I'm going to say she was telling the truth considering she just got ghost killed." Dean said to him.
"So what? Whitman Van Ness?" Sam asked Dean.
"Yeap." Gabriel replied not that Sam could hear him.
"Now we know whose bones to salt and burn. Let's go." Dean said directing the sentence at both his brother and Gabriel.
Dean walked out the door and Gabriel followed getting a weird feeling as he did so. He turned back to Sam but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.
And Whitman, invisible to all but other ghosts placed a key in Sam's pocket so he could go with the Winchesters to stop them.
He disappeared from the house only to reappear in the back seat of the car as Dean and Sam drove away, going to salt and burn his bones. And bobby watching on with Annie muttered "Oh hell no."
