CH.35 KILLING HIM.

Everyone is frozen. Mario moves as fast as he humanly can. In a few seconds, he is already right beside Olivia. He pushes her knees with his own making her fall backwards in his arms. Olivia feels her muscles tight but she doesn't fight back because she knows that Mario is who has acted so quickly. She lets him take her in his arms hoping he can take her away quickly enough to prevent her instincts to act.

Mario makes sure to take Olivia into the building and, once no one can see them, he rushes upstairs right into her apartment. Once inside, she moves away from him and lets herself down on the living room's floor. She puts her arms around her ribs and lets out a big sofocated shout. Mario moves as fast as her making sure she doesn't trie to go out. He takes his hand to her shoulder and calls her name in a very low whisper.

"He killed her!" She lets out in a furious cry. "I'm going to kill him!"

"Olivia." Mario tries once more not wanting her to lose all her control.

"I'm gonna find him... I'm gonna rip his head off!" But the rage is evident in her eyes. She moves towards the nearest window, but Mario is soon right in front of her making her stop. "Argh." She complains but she doesn't fight him. She's conscious Mario is trying to help. She knows she has to try and keep her selfcontrol. For the safety of the owners of every heart beat she can listen to. But the image of what she has just witnessed won't leave her head. "It's all my fault!"

"Don't." Mario dares to command her. He takes her strongly by her shoulders trying to make her look him into the eyes.

"Get off of me!" She fights back pushing him away. "I need to..."

"No!" But Mario won't give up. "You NEED to fight it back, Olivia!" And he tries once more to face her.

"Argh!" She takes her hands straight to her throat with a painful grimace. "Make it stop!" She begs, referring not just to the burning of the thirst but also to the horrible feeling that the frozen tears inside her body make her feel. "Please!"

"Olivia, look me in the eyes." Mario insists, finally gaining her attention. "Focus. Use your gift."

Olivia forces her eyes to find his. Their pupils meet and she tries to focus on his mind without much success. The only image she can picture in her mind is the bloody scene in the back of the truck. Her sight is turning red and her mouth is full of venom. Mario takes her firmly by the shoulders and tries to gain her mind's attention.

'Olivia, focus on my voice.' He uses his inner voice hopping this could he. Olivia is able to listen him inside her head and it guides her in his mind. 'Focus. Let me show you something.'

The image starts to replace the horrible scene inside her mind and it al surrounds her. Her gift combined with Mario's create something incredible in her mind. She is immersed in a hole new world. She is standing right in the middle of an ice landscape. Surrounded by millions and millions of stars. She can feel the wind crashing against her skin and listen to a strange relaxing music. She observes quietly every and each of the stars and their reflex in the ice around her. It's beautiful. It all recalls her of the first time she saw a clear night sky at the top of the Addirondacks. Then the scene changes slowly. The stars begin to move one by one, like if they were falling around her. Suddenly she is running as fast as she cans and she is now in a jungle. The colors and smells are so vivid that she believes she is there. Every detail is so accurate that it takes her away from the reality. It works.

"Where's Olivia?!" Elliot asks with evident fear in his voice. The cops react as quick as their panic lets them. They call for backup and secure the place preventing civils to walk by. But Elliot is instantly aware of Olivia's absence. He vaguely reminds of someone taking her in arms but, it all happened so fast that he couldn't see who. The only person that comes to mind is Mathew, and that puts him in a horrible place. "Olivia!"

"Elliot." Megane, taking advantage of the cloudy day, approaches him immediately. "Elliot." She calls him again gaining the man's attention. "She is fine. Olivia is fine."

"What? Where is her? Who the hell are you?" He asks full of adrenaline in his body.

"Calm down. She is inside. I'm..."

"Megane." Odafin's voice is heard as he approaches them. "You shouldn't be here."

"It's ok detective. I'm Olivia's therapist and, it's evident she needs me." Megane tries to explain calmly.

"Who are you? Where is Olivia?" But Elliot, not understanding at all, keeps asking for a more elaborated explanation.

"She is one of the people that helped Olivia at Addirondacks." Odafin explains.

"The psicologist." Elliot says remembering the conversation Olivia and him had last night. "Where is her?" He asks once again.

"Mario took her inside." Megane explains. "We were just arriving when the patrols show up and we saw everything."

"Who is Mario?" Elliot asks not been able to control his fears.

"My boyfriend. She is fine with him." Megane tries to calm him down, but he just lets out a big sight and walks towards the building's entrance. The vampire hurries to stop him, standing between him and the door.

"Get out of my way." He says with firm voice.

"I can't let you in." But the blonde doesn't move an inch. Megane knows the risk she would be letting him in.

"I need to see her. Move!" Elliot looks her right into her eyes and, despite the nonsense fear they give him, he orders furious. He reminds Odafin's warn about the strangers controlling Olivia and he knows now what the cop was talking about.

"I think it's better if..." Megane tries to use her words to make him change his mind but Odafin is soon involved.

"Ey! You are interfering with our job here." Fin says standing beside Elliot. "We have to get up there so, unless you want to end up arrested, I recommend you to get out of our way."

"I just need to see her before you guys. She is in a terrible situation right now." Odafin takes his hands right to his handcuffs making Megane be aware of it. Of course she could put them down with no effort, but she needs to follow her own words. Play by their rules. She just hopes Mario had handle Olivia by now. She moves away letting them get inside the building and walks right behind them. If the neophyte vampire upstairs is out of control they would be needing her help.

They soon arrive the fourth floor and Olivia's door. Fortunately it is closed.

"Olivia!" Elliot shouts immediately, knocking the door with strength. In the inside Mario is still giving Olivia quite a show with his thoughts, but he is aware of what is happening and he has to stop. Olivia stays still as the images disappear and she needs two or three seconds to come back to reality. She feels calmer now but Elliot's shouts are making everything come back. "Fuck, Olivia! Open the door!"

"What is happening?" A woman's voice interrupts the shouts, and the old neighbor gets out of her apartment. "Why are there so many patrols out there?"

"Ma'am it's better if you stay in until we say so." Odafin explains trying to keep everything on control. "Get inside please."

"Olivia!" And Elliot keeps knocking.

'Tell him to go.' Mario says to Olivia using his mind. 'You are not on control yet.' Olivia, trying to fight the burning in her throat just nods.

"You need to stop." Megane dares to take Elliot's hand making him stop and turn to her with anger. "Let me." She keeps her calm voice and let go of his hand softly. She can manage her strength with humans, but he'll see it enough to make him stop.

"Olivia, it's me, Megane." She says stepping between the door and Elliot.

"And Elliot." He says thinking she would feel safer with his presence.

"Go away!" She shouts from the inside with a raspy voice. "Please go!"

"Would you let me in?" Megane asks softly.

"No. I need to be alone." She says trying to sound calm. "Make them go, please." She asks Mario with a really low plea. She can listen to everything again and she doesn't feel able to control it again. "I don't wanna hurt them."

"I'll get out and play the part. Promise me you'll stay in here. I'll be back in two minutes." Mario explains and Olivia just nods and stays in the floor, trying to keep the images he just showed her in her mind.

So, Mario steps towards the door and, being sure Olivia is petrificated in the living room's floor, he opens the door and gets out preventing anyond to try and go in.

"She is handling a panic attack." Are the first words to get out his mouth. "I think it's better if nobody gets in there." He continues talking straight to Megane.

"What?" Elliot is quick to react.

"I think she needs me." Megane intervenes. "I'm her principal therapist."

"Who are you?" Elliot tries to make the man pay attention to him.

"Hey, sorry detective, I'm Dr. Mario Clifford... Olivia's therapist. I work with Dr. Belli." He tries to explain as quick and without much details. "Olivia is fine but, she is in the middle of a panic attack. I please ask you to trust us. She feels safe in there and she needs to be alone." Elliot looks at him with desbielieve.

"We just need to be sure she is... Fine." Elliot says with doubt. Even though Mario is calm, he looks threatening.

"Elliot." Olivia's voice is heard at the other side of the door making everyone freeze. "I'm fine, but please go. Please." Some how she has managed to control much better now. But she won't risk it. "I trust them." She assures the detectives cause she already knows they don't trust them much.

"Trust us with this." Megane says softly. "They need help downstairs. We'll let you know when she's ready to face this."

Elliot and Odafin share a look before agreeing with the therapists. Megane walks them out the building as Mario gets inside to keep helping Olivia with his gift.

The forensics are soon in the crime scene and the cops are doing their job. They find Mathews foot bracelet inside the truck but there is no signal of the suspect. Despite the shock all this has caused, the officers work as fast and good as they can. Giving the news to the old woman, Olivia's neighbor, about the murder of her grandchild was no easy thing to handle, and all the residents in the area were scared and mad about the situation. But all of it kept the detectives all busy. Elliot makes sure to patrol the area, thought he is sure Mathew won't be so full to show his face around. Munch is in charge of sending police officers to ward everyone of the detectives families in case Mathew was planing to attack any of them. The whole city was alert on the fugitive, whole units were working in his search. The media was soon trying to interview everyone. This was getting to far.

But Mario has handle Olivia peffectly well by now. He has kept showing her all kind of landscapes he can remember. Different places he knows she will like. And by the night she is back in control. But the burning won't left.

"Enough." She says getting out of Mario's mind.

"You ok?" He asks cautiously. She nods. "You want to..."

"Kill him." She interrupts him, making him alert. "I'm fine. I'm in control, but my control doesn't change a thing. I will kill him as soon as I have the chance."

"Yes, you will." Megane's voice is heard in the other side of the door. Mario hurries to let her in.

"What?" Olivia asks with evident surprise.

"Here, I brought you something." But Megane doesn't answer right back. She approaches her and takes a medical bag of blood from the inside of her clothes. "From the zoo. It will help with the burning." She explains while opening the plastic. Olivia immediately catches the familiar smell and doesn't think twice before taking the bag to her mouth. The taste is not as good as the fresh and warm blood from the animal's neck, but it helps... A lot. She finishes the three bags in no more than a minute and she is glad the burning is almost gone. So once she has that handle she gets back to Megane.

"What do you mean I will kill him?" She asks. Mario and Megane share a look before proceeding to answer her.

"Get in my mind." The blonde vampire orders while making sure to bring to the front of her mind the memorie of her last death vision. Mathew's. Olivia observes herself attacking and destroying the human with anger and ferocity. And she freezes. "I saw it last night. I don't know how or why, but you are his death destiny now."

"But... Did you see him? Last night?" Olivia is quick to jump into conclusions as she knows Megane can see death destiny of the humans she faces.

"No. As I said, I can't explain much. Vampires are not part of death destiny, and somehow you are now his death destiny." Megane says the little information she has. "I think you've decided to kill him already"

"I have to find him." Olivia says with a strange hope in her voice.

"Olivia, think about it." Mario tries to stop her thoughts.

"No. There's nothing to think about. We should be looking for him right now. We have more chances to find him than they have. I've been a fool by playing by their rules. I could have come back before and just kill him. I could have..."

"Stop there." Megane says knowing that Olivia's words are guided by guilt right now. "We will help you. If there's no way to change your mind, then you need our help. We can make this work." Mario is surprised by Megane's words but he decides to go with her. "But there's some else you have to think about right now."

"Elliot." Olivia says as Elliot's image spears strongly in Megane's mind.

"He is waiting outside." Megane lets her know. "You are under control now?"

"Yes." Olivia says immediately making Mario laugh. It's not that he doesn't trust her, is just that the woman's mouth is fool of blood and she looks messed up. "What?" Olivia asks.

"Let's humanize you again." Megane says laughing a little herself. Olivia lets out a sight but follows the blonde petit towards the bathroom.

"We will handle to find Mathew while you play your part with Elliot." Mario assures her. "We will neutralize him. And you'll decide his destiny." Olivia smiles liking at the idea of finally getting to kill the bastard.

Megane hurries to clean the vampire's face up and put the make up in place while Mario handles to get rid of the blood bags. In less than five minutes they are ready to let the detectives inside. Olivia sits in the living room taking a cup of tea and soon they hear the footsteps out the door. They wait until they knock the door and Mario opens it to face the detective.

"Hey." Elliot enters the apartment in search of Olivia. "Liv." He calls her name.

"I'm fine." Olivia hurries to say as she walks towards him. "I'm sorry for that. I just needed to..."

"Don't." Elliot stops her. "You don't need to apologize. I'm just glad you are fine." He assures her while taking her hand with his. She is under control. "I'm sorry you witnessed..."

"Elliot, stop please." Olivia interrupts his words. She doesn't want the memory to come back. "I know that I'm your eyes I'm now a victim, but I need you to stop treating me like one." They keep in silence as he just nods and fights the tears back. The awkward silence is interrupted by detective Tutuola ate the door.

"Elliot." He calls him. "Ahm..." But he doesn't know how to handle his words. He seems strangely impatient.

"What is it?" Olivia is the one to asks guessing that he has something important to say.

"I... We received a call." Odafin proceeds with doubt. Unconsciously he takes his eyes towards Megane looking for some kind of warning about Olivia's panic attack situation, but there is no more than doubtful looks. So he decides to continue. "We received a call from the homocide unit."

"What is it?" Olivia, getting desperate, is about to get in Tutuola's mind but his next words stop her.

"Mathew was found..." Everyone freezes. "He was found dead."
